265  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Zealots and Criminals, Is no one using bitcoin for legitimate purchases? on: June 26, 2013, 07:11:14 AM
now what sort of person doesn't have a paypal account or credit card?

either 1) very poor people. 2) criminals who don't want to divulge their identity.  can you think of anyone else?  if so please let us know.
I have both, I'd rather have neither... to be more specific I'd rather live in a world where both are obsolete.
266  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why restrict newbs? on: June 26, 2013, 06:21:27 AM
Spam is correct, but theres also another apect to it:

Roughly the twenty first questions an average newcomer will ask have allready been answered, several hundred times at worst.
For example try to find out how many posts about wallet collision and it's propabilities have been posted on these forums Smiley
[edit]
The proper use of those four hours is to read the forums.

I'll be happy to publish some rough figures on my small part (btctrinkets):

I've been in business for eight months exactly today. I initially started with three products and no website, and have been gradually growing my selection and added an online-store, so after the initial roll-out a large portion of my sales are more recent. To date I carry 9 different items, the tenth is waiting for photographs and eleventh is in production. My plan has all along been to keep re-investing what I initially put in and it has seemed like a sound plan so far.

I have shipped out around 200 packages.
I have sold roughly 330 items.
On an average my page sees about 140 loads a day.
On an average week I sell one item, recently it has been hovering at just about three.

What I really like about your service is that it caters to a need of another bitcoin merchant: I myself can only cover so much of my expenses without converting to fiat. Hosting, stamps and any computer hardware I need.

Would I use it ?
- Sadly no, with the average size and value of my packages and my geolocation it's not viable.

I wish I had more encouraging words to throw in, because I really belive your service is the type we need, I don't want to convert to fiat constantly and I believe there are others who think alike. When we reach the point where a business accepting bitcoin can use said btc on their own expenses, be it hosting, delivery, wages, bills or goods the we can really say we have a functioning economy and infrastructure.

One aspect is getting visibility, it's hard.. even when your willing to pay for it, there are only a handfull of worthwhile places to toss your money in atm.
268  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Anybody Here Who Runs A Website Which Accepts Bitcoins? on: June 26, 2013, 04:25:58 AM
would be nice to see vendors that don't use bitpay. enough of this centralized fiat basis for bitcoin economy!
At current my site runs mtgox and bips modules, Im working on adding bitpay also, but that's been going nowhere slowly with around 100 emails sent between support and me Smiley

270  Other / Meta / Re: Bounty to nuke Alt-Coin board on: June 25, 2013, 05:17:19 PM
Just ignore the whole section.
How do i do this, especially since I like to use the "Show unread posts since last visit." quite frequently ?

Profile -> Ignore Boards Preference
Then just click all the ones you don't like.  I clicked all the foreign language boards.
Thank you sir! You may just have re-kindled my love for these forums.

Hey Isokivi, glad the coins are doing well, I see you now also offer a two-pack. Do you think there is demand for another coin? I would be willing to design another, maybe a completely silver 2?

Lateley, after the reddit thread that stuck on the first page of /r/bitcoin for several days it has been more quiet with the coins. I have toyed with the notion of asking you to design two more coins, of smaller denominations and producing a poker chip set based on them. But I ended up concluding that the price of one would be way too high, you'd need a lot and it'd be so heavy that shipping alone would cost the same as a pair of coins. Im not saying no, but I am saying that I propably will not be able to make it happen anytime soon.
274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: What should power limit be on a mining equipment in your country? on: June 24, 2013, 03:38:43 PM
Running of 10A fuses would be ideal as it would allow one to max out the sockets around here. 15A is also available, but the more the merryer and so forth.
275  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Mint Race #4: great prizes from CloudHashing.com ! on: June 22, 2013, 08:30:21 PM

https://mtgox.com/code/login_bis.json 503 (Service Temporarily Unavailable)

WTF ?

A small victory perhaps, but it has begun.

I've always found deathandtaxes's posts informative and insightful, I wouldnt know if he was the smartest, but he is certainly a major contributor to the collective knoweledgebase these forums house.
