Yes I do! Although I might not for long with how beautiful Casascius coins are... I can't help but buy them!  Cry
522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: List of reasons we do not need bigger block sizes on: August 19, 2015, 10:33:03 AM
I agree with Nick Szabo when he stated that the block size debate needs more computer science and less noise. I want actual numbers and tests, not opinions.
523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the lightning network solve the block size problem? on: August 19, 2015, 10:30:20 AM
I watched the presentation on the lightning network and if it allows regular payments along with the option for this side enhancement then it could help a lot with the block size problem.

The lightning network basically allows people to set up payment nodes to run transactions which can be as many transactions as you want in a certain amount of time without touching the blockchain. At the end of the time period the final balance of the transaction is posted to the blockchain. The people running the nodes have no way to interfere with the transactions and it allows for more anonymity.

I am cautiously optimistic about it.

I am cautiously optimistic as well, the whitepaper is extremely promising for the lightning network but as of right now it has not been developed and because of this it cannot be a solution at the current moment. I am glad that the price hasn't exploded upwards because I believe that would exponentially increase usage which would cripple Bitcoin at the moment. This lull in volatility is allowing time for sidechain solutions to be developed.
524  Economy / Speculation / Re: why bitcoin is dumped so hard? on: August 19, 2015, 10:27:14 AM
Bitcoin isn't dumping hard, lol. And it's definitely not because of a fork that's coming in almost half a year... It's just the usual suspects messing with small traders to squeeze some coins of of them.

not hard? 40k btc dump to 162$….if this not hard? what is hard for you?

https://cryptowatch.de/bitfinex/btcusd/1hr

Looking at the charts it's starting to feel like the good old days with $70 swings in minutes. The past six months have been a period of new-found stability in the Bitcoin market, stability is not the norm for Bitcoin at all. With more institutional traders getting involved it almost makes me wonder if we'll be able to see another bubble with how quick traders are to take profit during rallies.
525  Economy / Speculation / Re: why bitcoin is dumped so hard? on: August 19, 2015, 10:24:12 AM
Everything was dumped and rebuyed in minutes.
Lots of people craving for cheap coins.

This is only the beginning.

Gotta love that flash crash, I wish I was able to pick up more cheap coins! The recovery was pretty quick back up to $230~

Do you mean the beginning of more dumps?
526  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Do You have a Bitcoin Full Node running (24/7)? on: August 19, 2015, 09:57:04 AM
Do You have a Bitcoin Full Node running? (I mean roughly 24 hours/day service, including server with dynamic IP address)

I've setup a Full Node (IPv4 Tor-only (not really "hidden" service), to strengthen Tor) some days ago (Version 0.8.6, currently 39 GB disk usage), to strengthen the Bitcoin network. A newer version is unfortunatelay not not available for my OS, currently.
I use that node also as a honey pot with a small wallet balance, so I'll hopefully recognize, that if something is missing, my computer got probably compromised...

Your are welcome to post which config (IPv4/IPv6/Tor...) Your are running, or why You are not running a Full Node.

Yes I do! I love that's there's actually something that I can do to contribute to the community that is extremely easy and low cost. I really like your idea of using it as a honey pot to see if your system is compromised, I might have to borrow that idea!  Cheesy
527  Economy / Speculation / Re: PRICE DOWN on: August 19, 2015, 09:53:17 AM
I woke up and was shock to see the price of BITCOIN fell very sharply, what happened?
current price $237

There was a flash crash on Bitfinex, some whale just made a lot of money and a lot of traders either got stopped out or margin called  Undecided
528  Economy / Economics / Re: Best exchange? on: August 19, 2015, 09:50:34 AM
I think the best exchange it's Poloniex and btc-e and bitfinex.

I would have agreed with your recommendation of bitfinex until today, but my confidence has been slightly shaken. I still think it's the best exchange out there currently (if you want to use margin). I can't wait for there to be a solid US based exchange with actual volume. I'm not sure if one will ever exist though with all the regulation and requirements. At this point Gemini seems like a unicorn...
529  Economy / Economics / Re: Alright , Time to Dump or Time to Buy ? on: August 19, 2015, 09:47:46 AM
Seems like a decent entry price
Would buy a bit more at this price.

To sum it up
prices are falling > time to buy.

The market can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent... I have found this out the hard way. I could go on about catching falling knives etc. but at this point unless you have a crystal ball you're at the whim of the whales currently controlling the market. That's short term of course, as a long term investment I'm still incredibly bullish.  Wink
530  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you quit your day job to go full time on bitcoin? on: August 19, 2015, 09:44:30 AM
Are you inspired by those bitcoin millionaires? Are you thinking of filing a resignation letter on your day job (if you have any) and focus on bitcoin instead?

Me? I do have a day job and I consider bitcoin as my side job. I don't want to lose that another source of income just because bitcoin is awesome.

I am absolutely infatuated with Bitcoin and it has driven me to change my major to one that is related so that I can hopefully start a career in FinTech when I graduate. I was lucky enough to get an internship with a tech startup and would love to go and work in Silicon Valley. The only issue being that I have a fairly stable job that I could make a career out of and I am afraid to leave that safety net. It's definitely a hard choice  Undecided
531  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: if my account has positive trust is it value pushed up? on: August 19, 2015, 09:37:35 AM
Considering people have been trading account for ages, it's not a big problem. Any experienced trader knows that escrow is almost always mandatory.
But yes, an account with positive trust is more valuable.

Is the trading and selling of accounts legal on this forum? I see postings for the sale of accounts all over the forums and it makes no sense that this would be allowed. It seemingly undermines the entire system of trust and reputation that has been built in  Huh
532  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best online bitcoin wallet on: August 19, 2015, 09:34:50 AM
I wouldnt recommend online wallets, unless youre using it to gamble or make a temp purchase.

Most of the known online wallets like blockchain had way too many incidents that are overlooked. I suggest to stick with desktop wallets and only migrate some portions of bitcoin if you feel like need to use it.

Its just really how its being used.

I agree, I am not a huge fan of online wallets at all. There have been too many bad experiences involved in using them so I no longer recommend them to new users, or anyone for that matter. In my opinion cell phone wallets are more secure and less likely to get hacked than desktop wallets if the user is not tech savvy. I recommend Breadwallet for iOS users and Mycelium for Android.
533  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which bitcoin wallet is the safest and the most convenient? on: August 19, 2015, 09:31:14 AM
If you will be moving your funds often, why not to try Coinbase? I do not know why people is so mad at "annonymity", unless you will be buying drugs/anything illegal or live in a country with strong, absrud control over its population (China?).

If I were to stack BTC, I would use the core, original stuff is usually the best.

To those saying that 50 GB is not that much, well, average bandwidth here is 5 MB, it will take hours to download that thing... now consider countries with worse connections (there are, lots of them).

You're going to catch some flack for recommending Coinbase because a lot of the more experienced Bitcoin users have an issue with Coinbase holding the users private keys. If an individual does not possess their own private keys then technically they do not have control of their coins.

I personally recommend Coinbase to individuals who have never used Bitcoin before because it is very user friendly and the security is top notch. The vault feature is also something to look into as an additional security measure. Fun fact: you can also set up a multi-sig vault so that you have control over your own private keys!  Wink
534  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which Block Explorer do you use ? on: August 19, 2015, 09:27:20 AM
Normally I use blockchain.info, which is most popular. I am using its wallet as well!

Blockchain.info has had a lot of issues lately as well as in the past in regard to its role in block exploring. When it comes to their wallet, I would highly recommend using something else. There have been multiple instances where individuals have lost their coins due to security flaws so use at your own risk.  Sad
535  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Did you earn some bitcoin today? on: August 19, 2015, 09:24:28 AM
No, but I work very hard for earn something ! I earned something with faucet, but it was too low and many time spent for earn something -.-''. Now I use to sign in a signature campaign and earn Smiley

Can someone explain to me what a signature campaign is? I keep seeing this term pop up on the forums and I have never heard of it before  Huh
536  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Bitcoin Academy opens in Cape Town on: August 19, 2015, 09:22:14 AM
Quote
The Academy currently offers three courses: Bitcoin 101 Course, Blockchain 101 Course, and Blockchain-based application course.

I would be incredibly interested to see what the scope of these three courses are and see if they cover more than the classes that are readily available online.
537  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Microsoft is allowing itself to detect pirated games on your Windows 10 PC on: August 19, 2015, 09:20:09 AM
I think one of the most interesting things I ever learned was in a marketing class. My professor stated that no product is given for free, and if it is then you are the product. This statement falls perfectly in line with Windows 10 and the massive amounts of data that it detects.
538  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do Atheists hate Religion ? on: August 19, 2015, 09:17:00 AM

Which seems more probable to you, a Satanic Rape-Dolphin, or an indifferent universe?

I came here expecting comments exactly like this. With such a divisive title I expected nothing less   Roll Eyes
539  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you buy physical gold? on: August 19, 2015, 09:13:55 AM
yep, love the stuff -

This is my stash to date, 37.9 troy oz fine gold + about 65oz silver and a little platinum and palladium -

That is a very nice collection. Two things I love about it: the treasure trunk that you keep it all in and the Panda on top  Cheesy
540  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What are the largest exchanges that purchases from US Bank accounts? on: August 19, 2015, 09:11:16 AM
I already know about coinbase.com

Are there other very large (and hopefully safe) exchanges that I can easily buy (and store in cold storage) bitcoins with funds from a US bank account? If possible I would like to just find out the largest 2-3.

I personally like Circle and Coinbase. Circle seems to have a slight edge on purchase price and I like that Coinbase has a vault option and multi-sig if the user wishes to set it up. That is why Coinbase is always my recommendation to people who are new to the Bitcoin scene. It is very user friendly and the security is top notch. Honestly if you have a decent amount of Bitcoin I would recommend investing in a hardware wallet though.
