This looks very cool! Looking forward to seeing many more such apps in the near future.

BlockData Dapp

Please take a look at my development progress of BlockData, a dapp which tracks your home temperature, power costs and gas pressure. Also a sneak peak into the unique identity Lisk can deliver within dapps.

Changing things now would just look like they want to grab more money and that would have a negative impact. Although I do agree that having more money for development is better, but this is not the right way to do this... I would suggest to proceed as was determined in the start of this ICO, we can always get more investors later because of the great tech behind this platform.

one proposal.

Extend the ICO window for 15 days more.

903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 15, 2016, 06:36:39 PM
If you will be looking for investments, let me know. Will be happy to put some money into your idea and into new dapps Smiley

People of the Lisk community,

In the list you can see the crowdfunding for Lisk Dapp, The think that will determine the value of Lisk will be the adaption and the usage of the coin but thats obvious, im looking to start this crowdfunding platform so we can help dev's to push there Dapp through.

Although im not rich and cant fund this all myself and i dont wanna start a crowdfunding for a crowdfunding platform.

Thats why im going to try and manage 2 Delegates (and dont think i do that cause im greedy) its 100% to support the community.
And i hope the community can help this succeed by voting on those delegates and i was just wondering what all of your views
are on this?

Would you like the idea and help me with gathering votes reply on this and maybe we can even find better ideas on how to make this
work all togheter "dont forget its a community we need to form"!

Just let me know Wink.

Kind Regards
Nick

Sure I would like to know what we get out of it though. A prediction market like AUGUR would really kick ass at the moment because of all the hype about it. REP is now getting sold for 0.02. If we can create something around LISK too that would be immense. We already have the edge over ETHER so I think jump on to the prediction soon.

What I was wanting to know is if we crowd fund and launch these will they come with another coin that will be utilised with the DAPPS and the investors see some of these coins? Otherwise we are paying for something that will benefit us but also benefit others and we have no advantage to fund it..

I think to say what will be into it for the investors will be hard to say cause every Dapp can have its own functionality, if it something that helps the community but doesnt generate a profit we cant expect to get anything back except usage and increase in coin value. In those cases the amount gathered will be minimal but maybe enough for 1 developer to make its Dapp.

If its a decentralized prediction market like augur we can even do something like a 0,2% Fee like many exchanges does and let it be split over the investors from the project but then the crowdfunding platform will have much more responsibility. But all is possible im just aiming here to see if there is any interrest for it Wink.

Also i think this crowdfunding platform can be the start of developers working togheter with a small funds, think about Colony for Ethereum but then more community based.

Because beside the developers of the "core code" it would be nice to generate some funds for a team to work togheter on Lisk and with
Delegate proof of stake this is a great way to start this all.

I will post this also on the Forum later today Wink And this is just a concept idea and need to be completed and figured out into details

Great suggestions! I have added the option to issue a custom token as shares to the Delegate Profit Sharing Dapp concept at https://forum.lisk.io/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27 . Below is the decription of the Dapp for reference:

Summary:

The Lisk API has the ability for a delegate to see which accounts voted for him. This, along with the new Lisk forging rewards, opens up the possibility for delegates to do profit sharing with those who vote for him. What I have in mind is how I originally thought DPoS would operate with Bitshares and should have run with Crypti. I would like to offer to split the delegate earnings with the people who vote for my delegates based on how much they have in the Lisk accounts they vote from on a running basis and how much they dilute their votes by voting for other delegates. So this would be truly a PoS type system where stake holders receive a return on their holdings with a portion going to the delegates they choose to represent them. This will also incentivize people to hold Lisk since it can offer them a return.

Dapp Features:

  • List votes received from accounts with current account balances or %approval rating, fraction of total votes made by account.
  • auto distribution of percentage of forging rewards at set blockcount interval to accounts voting for delegate based on portion of total approval rating received fromindividual accounts and fraction of total votes made by that account.
  • ability to set percentage paid to votors.
  • option to dynamically adjust rate based on revenue and Lisk/BTC price, i.e. percentage of portion retained by delegate is cut in half when earnings quadruple, able to set parameters "half" and "quadruple" with user selected amounts.
  • option to whitelist other delegates owned by operator to exclude from vote dilution penalty in distribution calculation in item 2 above.
  • generate ledger of accounts of voters with vote histories at block cycle intervals
  • distribute a custom token according to ledger as an alternative to distribution of Lisk
  • set the distribution of the custom token according to a formula with parameters like time of vote, dilution of vote, and amount of vote.

With these added features, Lisk stakeholders can gain a stake in dapps funded with delegate earnings.

I think that we should figure out how to use this tech to brake into two of the biggest industries in the world. Gambling and porn. Porn drove bitcoins very high because many people want to stay anonymous when they pay for porn... Anyone have any ideas in regards to these tow industries?

I think you guys should stop speculating on the price and future prices and start focusing on the tech behind it and why you invested. Of course price is important in the long run but speculating right now doesn't do anything to benefit anyone involved. If the tech is there the value/price will follow.

Just grabbed a few in time for the 5% Smiley

3200BTC+ raised already!

 Cool

Let's see how many people will be in time for the 5% bonus!
If someone describe a clear reason for participating in this ICO and a small comparing between lisk & ETH &  BTC will be nice for newbie like me because many think lisk will overtake the other two (ETH&BTC)
then i will participate even as low as 0 %

Here is a quote from their homepage:

Lisk decentralized applications can be built from the ground up in pure Javascript and take advantage of the powerful Lisk APIs. In addition, all dapps are running in their own sidechain to ensure that Lisk itself is safe. In the future all dapps will run in the Lisk VM to ensure they are safe to run on any node. Learn how to code dapps in our documentation section.

I think that this is a big advantage over Ethereum.

ETH have a lot of inflation as well.
I'm not investing in ETH here, I'm investing in LISK...

ANOTHER REASON LISK IS BETTER THAN ETHEREUM :

MUCH LOWER INFLATION !!!

Lisk going from 100M to 115M means 100/115 = 1.15 = 15% inflation in year 1
Lisk going from 115M to 127M means 127/115 = 1.10 = 10% inflation in year 2
Lisk going from 127M to 136M means 136/127 = 1.07 = 07% inflation in year 3
Lisk going from 136M to 142M means 142/136 = 1.04 = 04% inflation in year 4
Lisk going from 142M to 145M means 145/142 = 1.02 = 02% inflation in year 5

"If we assume that Ethereum sells 40,000 BTC worth of ETH in the pre-sale, and if we assume that the average price is 1500 ETH/ BTC, 60,000,000 ETH will be created in the genesis block and assigned to purchasers. Every year, in perpetuity, 18,000,000 ETH will be issued though the mining process.  Taking into account both creation of new ETH and loss of existing ETH, in the first year, this represents a monetary inflation rate of 22.4%.  In the second year the rate drops to 18.1%.  By the tenth year, the rate is 7.0%.  In year 38, it hits 1.9%. And in the 64th year, the level of 1.0% is reached."

Is there an infinite amount of Lisk available? Or how is it capped?

How long are block times?  Or, better question, if there are only 101 delegates, what should be the average Lisk payout per day, per delegate.

Last question, how many delegates exist today?

Ok, just so I'm clear, in an "ideal" situation, block times are 10 seconds?  Let's a pad that number for safety sake and say that it is more realistically 15.  So if there are 86400 seconds/day, and 101 delegates, 1 delegate should make ~4275 Lisk/day.  Sound correct?

Also, I asked how many delegates exists today?  I thought I read somewhere that the Lisk servers are running so that servers can accumulate votes?  Is that correct?

I ask because 4275 Lisk/day isn't to shabby.  I may fire up a node tonight.

In an "ideal" situation the block time is 10 seconds. If one delegate is offline then one time in the round the block time will be 20 seconds. So the block times are always n*10 seconds long. Smiley

A day has 86400 seconds, so 101 delegates have the chance to forge 8640 blocks. That means one delegate can forge 85 blocks, which results in 425 LISK per day.

Right now we only have a testnet (test network). Lisk officially launches in the end of March, after the ICO and once we created a Genesis Block with all users from our ICO.
912  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 11, 2016, 11:46:13 AM
I saw this posted a few pages back:

Hmmm... looks like BTC investors in Lisk ICO, just bailed out all Crypti bag holders.

I posted this only three pages ago, but since you missed it, here it is again....

BTC investors are NOT bailing out XCR bag holders in this ICO!

THERE IS NOT A ONE-FOR-ONE EXCHANGE OF CRYPTI XCR FOR LISK.

XCR members joining Lisk are getting their donations capped at the fair market value (at Poloniex, for example) of 1300 satoshi per XCR.    You can see that by going to the "How many Lisk will I get for my XCR" spreadsheet link in my other post above on page 129.  At present, the number is 0.274 Lisk will be issued for every Crypti XCR donated, and that number continues to drop as more BTC shows up.  A Lisk is currently worth 4759 Satoshi.  If you trade in ONE Crypti XCR, you currently get 0.274 Lisk and your new Lisk holding is worth 0.274 * 4759 = 1300 satoshi (with minor roundoff error).

Now look at the "How many Lisk will I get for my BTC" spreadsheet.  If you trade in ONE Bitcoin, you currently get 21,100 Lisk and your new Lisk holding is worth 21,100 * 4759 = 100,000,000 satoshi (with minor roundoff error), which is exactly 1 BTC.

As noted in my post above, so far there have been 773 BTC worth of XCR donated to Lisk at the fixed fair market rate of 1300 satoshi and 2900 actual BTC donated at the adjustable fair market rate of 4759 satoshi per Lisk and rising.   The 773 BTC donated by Crypti holders is the fair market value of all the currently existing Version 0.5.5 sidechain / dapp software that Lisk will use at launch.  The Version 0.5.5 sidechain / dapp software used to launch Lisk is NOT VAPORWARE and its use does not come to the new BTC donors for free.  Utilization of that software as a starting point is currently priced fairly at 773 BTC.  The BTC donations of 2900+ will be used as a cash development fund to IMPROVE THIS CODE BASE and create Lisk Version 0.5.6 and beyond.

To summarize, the value of XCR donations are are capped at 1300 satoshi per coin; the value of BTC donations are continuously adjusted upward to get the current Lisk satoshi value (currently 4759 and rising).  That capped vs. continuous adjustment factor is what keeps the XCR folks from being "bailed out" by the BTC donors!

XCR donators have created a solid sidechain / dapp code base foundation and the new BTC donators are providing funding to improve it.   XCR and BTC donors are not opponents here.  We are all members of the new Lisk team!

First of all, I want to say I love the idea and will be definitely following this.

But there is 1 thing that is a bit unclear to me.

In previous pages there is a mention that this isnt a Crypti Bailout.

But over 60 mill XCR has already been raised and it barely has any volume, how will you sell it all if you own almost the entire supply of it?

60mill almost proves people lost fate in XCR and jump ship to Lisk, who will be buying XCr from you.

Thanks and good luck !

@LiskHQ are you running any ads for the Chinese? It is is a huge market and it would be a shame to not get them on board Wink

if we want Lisk to go to da moon, we need to get on the Chinese OKCoin and Huobi exchanges.
Absolutely.
And that is another point where Ethereum is bad : the Chinese market.

Absolutely!
Ethereum penetration in Chinese exchanges is effectively zero.
If Lisk can be listed on Chinese exchanges before Ethereum, Lisk could very well leapfrog Ethereum in trading volume.

If we're serious about getting Lisk on Chinese exchanges, we should get more Chinese investors to participate in this ICO in the 1st place.

How about we pledge some BTC to Lisk Country Ambassador in China to run a Lisk Ad campaign on Chinese Crypto forums during these last 10 days ?

Consequently... this ICO may raise twice more funds  Smiley

Cool info, thanks! So how do we get on the chinese exchanges?

As for exchanges, what about Kraken? That is a good one and a big one right?

People just don't realize how much Bitcoin has become a Chinese money laundering machine, or just how GIGANTICALLY HUGE OKCoin and Huobi are compared to what we in the West think of as "big" exchanges like Kraken.  Poloniex and BTER, where Crypti XCR found a trading home, is near the bottom at only $90K and $40K per day respectively.  That's peanuts.  As I said a few pages ago:

if we want Lisk to go to da moon, we need to get on the Chinese OKCoin and Huobi exchanges.

I didn't even see that it was an exchange. I just thought it was a dice gambling site...

As for exchanges, what about Kraken? That is a good one and a big one right?

I just saw that YoBit has the option to add coins to their dice game. And for only 0,5 btc they also email the news about the new coin to their users. @LiskHQ until there are some lisk apps for gambling this is a very cheap and great promotion in my opinion... When the coins will be available of course Smiley

I would couple this with mobile wallets, getting some exchanges on board for trading of the coin, a good marketing budget and then further on ATM contracts (first off add them to existing BTC ATMs and later maybe even Lisk only ATMs...).

YoBit is on our list. Thanks. Didn't know the dice game, will take a look at might contact them at launch. Wink

Thank you. Smiley

Please no Yobit.... they launch fake ICO's to solve liquidity problems... same for BTER... you should not link your name to them...

But that's just my thoughts...

From a professional standpoint, I have nothing to say about the reputation of Yobit. Personally however, I would not like to see Lisk associated with Yobit.

As I've heard some people affectionately call it, "Yolobit."

Being on an exchange does not mean we are associated with it. I just said they are on our list. Not that we are actively trying to get added there. Wink

Fair enough. For future reference, just make sure to stress that point - that there is no official affiliation.

I would suggest Knownhost.com. Been with them for 4 years and never had a problem... Support staff average response time is under 3 minutes.

Is Lisk.io down or is it just me?

Yes, unfortunately it's offline. The data center on which the site (and also the faucet and web login) is hosted has some problems.  Undecided

We hope they will resolve the problem as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Like this idea as gambling is probably the fastest way to get people to start using Lisk frequently. Obviously exchanges and merchants would be great options as well Smiley

Tell us your best Dapp ideas & win great prizes!

Decentralized applications can be thought of as the “bread and butter” of Lisk. Therefore, in order to provide our Lisk Dapp developers with the inspiration to get coding dapps as soon as possible, today we are starting a contest for the best Dapp ideas.

Contest Details

Make a concept for your dream Dapp, and post it to our official forum on the “Decentralized Applications” board. Your concept can contain descriptions, images, diagrams, projections and code. The more elaborate your concept is, the higher your chance of winning.

The contest starts with this announcement (7th March) and ends on the 13th March, at the same time as the BTC exchange bonus drops from 5% to 0%. Please note, early submissions will have no greater priority over later submissions.

We (Oliver and Max) will elect the three winners ourselves, based upon feedback from the community. Winners will be chosen based on the ideas which we feel will draw the biggest attention, and create practical use-cases for the Lisk network.

Everyone can submit as many ideas as they want. To avoid someone submitting an idea before you have completed a submission, you may briefly describe your idea in a forum post, and then enhance that submission over the course of the week with further materials.

Decision criteria

- Quantity and quality of the concept materials (50%)
- Benefits to the Lisk ecosystem (30%)
- Feasibility (20%)

Prizes

The best three ideas will get their own video similar to this one, which can then be used to promote your idea to potential investors, the Lisk community or business partners.

Additionally, we will give out a Raspberry Pi 2, Raspberry Pi 3 and Lisk T-Shirts, according to the following prizes:

- First prize: Raspberry Pi 3 + Lisk T-Shirt + Video
- Second prize: Raspberry Pi 2 + Lisk T-Shirt + Video
- Third prize: Lisk T-Shirt + Video

We shall also use the Dapp ideas and videos to promote the Lisk platform to potential developers. All concept materials will be made public, and will be placed in the hands of the whole Lisk community

Blog Post Announcement

Here's my idea for starters:

a Casino Lisk Dapp that is completely decentralized and that isn't owned by no one and there is not an entity that makes a profit out of the winnings of loosing of people's funds.  Example on how this Casino Dapp can operate: The "Giver" are the ones who deposit funds to be made available for the "Takers" to win WHEN they, (The "Takers"), gambles with their Lisks.

Example, a Giver funds the Casino Dapp pool with 20,000 Lisks and make available these Lisks as available funds that can be used to pay a winner or winners of a particular casino game such as Blackjack, Slots or even Roulette.  IF the "Taker" (the regular customer that gambles) looses, then "Giver" (The person or persons that contributed towards the Casino's pool of funds) earns the loser's funds proportionally.

Further example:
Lets say there are three "Givers" that each has controbuted Lisks towards the Casino's operating funds, these Givers and their amounts were:
Giver A: Deposited 10,000 Lisks
Giver B: Deposited 20,000 Lisks and
Giver C: Deposited 40,000 Lisks

Therefore, there are a total of 70,000 Lisks available for the Casino to pay out any potential winners.  The casino will, in real time, adjust any prizes and "jackpots" depending on the total amounts of funds availability at any given time.

Lets say there are one "Taker" at the time playing Slots, the taker deposits 10,000 Lisks and decides to gamble those and the taker looses.
Because the Taker lost all their funds, the "Giver" earns these funds in the following proportional amounts:
Giver A: Because Giver A deposited 10,000 for the Casino to use, Giver A earns 1,250 Lisks
Giver B: Because Giver B deposited 20,000 Lisks for the Casino to use, Giver B earns 2,500 Lisks
Giver C: Because Giver C deposited 40,000 Lisks for the Casino to use, Giver C earns 6250 Lisks

In the other hand, lets say the Taker (the customer who gambles) wins, and lets say the price was 1,000 lisks, therefore the Casino would have lost 1,000 Lisks out of a total of 70,000 lisks that was at the pool, in this instance the losses are shared proportionally to every Giver involved.

The Lisk Casino Dapp can be configured to operate under a 5% house edge, that way there can be incentive for Givers to give their funds to fund the casino's operating budjet.

Once again, the Lisk Casino Dapp wont be owned by anyone, it will be open source, there will be no central authority to collect any funds or to profit from this Casino.  Those who will be "profiting" from this casino are purely the "Givers" that deposit their Lisks to the Lisk Casino Dapp and the more a particular Giver deposits, the more profits he or she can earn out of the losses of the Taker's gamblers.

The Algorithm or in other words, the Random Number Generator should be programmed as fair as possible and in a way that it can't be manipulated by anyone.  Of course, once the Dapp is unleashed to the network it is assumed that it can't be manipulated, or controlled or stopped by anyone, making the world's first fair owner-less decentralized Casino Dapp.

This looks great and I will be buying into the ICO by the end of this week to get a bonus Smiley

The first thing when this is deployed I think that there should be a development of Lisk gambling apps. I read somewhere that about 50-60% of BTC transactions is from gambling... Makes you think how much revenue that could make for any crypto currency...
