I'm new and I signed up because I wanted to start exchanging btc face to face, plus sell anything I can make or source locally. I'm trying to build up some btc balance it's my latest interest.

Check out LocalBitcoins.com.

Already on there, only 1 enquiry so far in 2 1/2 months Sad I guess there's not much demand in my area *shrug*

I'm not saying they are all sockpuppets. But if somebody finds his way here after just 10-20 posts that is highly suspicious. Even more so if they appear to have a certain attitude... It just fits well together. People just don't wanna damage the reputation of their main account but they surely make new ones in order to squeeze the last sucker out using shitposting.

Oh look *there's an ignore button too!*

Oh yeah and the speculation board is definitely one of the most entertaining

547  Economy / Economics / Re: Bristol to launch their own currency in September on: August 16, 2012, 06:03:23 PM
Quite a few towns in the UK are implementing similar systems, this is just the biggest one.

Really? Do you know where else?
548  Economy / Economics / Re: Bristol to launch their own currency in September on: August 16, 2012, 05:46:17 PM
Cashing out to pounds costs 3%, and is only guaranteed as an option when done through the credit union holding the GBPs backing the currency.

So this is designed to promote localism? Not a bad idea IMO, and probably the best place in the UK to give it a go. It'll be good for bitcoin to see alternative currencies being used in the UK at least.
549  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTB] Tobacco pipes on: August 16, 2012, 04:04:35 PM
I can get UK made pipes for you - from Stonehavens (cheap) to Dunhills (not so cheap). I've been thinking about making a trip to Blakemar's briars - http://www.blakemar.co.uk soon to report to a pipe forum I frequent. I'd be happy to pick something up for you too while I'm there.

I hope you mean that your 8 week lock-in rate will drop to 1.25% for new deposits made from 10th August? If not then it's unfair changing the terms of a loan mid-term, wouldn't you agree?
554  Economy / Marketplace / Re: List of honest traders. on: August 11, 2012, 08:55:15 AM
Herodes +1

Great transaction, friendly professional guy.

The only stumbling block was we were sat in the cafe for 10-15 minutes waiting for each other, just out of eyesight, and there was no mobile phone coverage in the cafe. We only saw each other when I came back from going outside to see if he was waiting out there LOL!
555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any BTC direct deposit options? on: August 08, 2012, 03:26:22 PM
Can't you set up a standing order to mt.gox from your bank, and a number of buys on mt.gox which would execute automatically as funds appeared?

What do you think about FPGAs right now? Would it be worth stepping up from GPUs to FPGAs right now or do you think the BFL ASIC renders them useless?
