What are the walls looking like right now? Is it likely that we could go beyond 14 soon?
Hey! Don't you put this thread back on track. But really, we're about 7197BTC (a little more than 1100 at 13.90) away from 14 on the ask side and 8010BTC from 13.50 on the bid side. And about 57000BTC above 12.50 Adam

goxxing again awesome spike to 13.70 that never happen That happens when the price shoots up in a different currency. Judging from the action, it looks like there's quite a bit of buying pressure from across the pond. Arbitrage bots will smooth things out. no, thats whats not supposed to happen. i was sitting there watching all these prices fire off on time and sales up to 13.725 on Clark Moody w/o the ask side changing at all with asks from 13.59 on up. I asked the question in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=133571.0 and the answer seems to be something to do with "mixed currency" trades uh where do you see the answer? hmmm now I look again I don't see an "answer" Just mention of a bug

Your costs are known beforehand, and you know how much money you are risking.

You could try a build from git but if you are not familiar with terminals it might be a bit tricky. I can tell you that there is no reason a future version will suddenly work. It's not a problem with Electrum but the tools used to build a binary version from the Python source. Is there anybody else with the same problem on OS X?
I guess I'd say I'm not a total novice with the command line. I've played with Linux in the past and even managed to build an entire Gentoo distribution from the source. But I have to admit I've lost the enthusiasm for that these days, and also it would be nice to know what's different about my system to others. An interesting problem to solve

The problem is I'm on mountain lion myself and the version run just fine on my local machine. Are you on 10.8.2 or perhaps on an older version?
Yes, 10.8.2

This gives me "Illegal instruction: 4"
Sorry but I have never seen this before and I have no clue what it means. Did you do any custom things with your system? Are you running homebrew? Any other weird packages? I just tried v1.5.8 and am getting the same error as both versions 1.5.6 and 1.5.7. I'm not a programmer so this may be irrelevant, but a quick Google search for this error produced results such as this and this which suggests something (mysterious to me I might add) might need to be done when it is compiled for Lion and Mountain Lion. In the meantime I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled for a newer version that might run on my system.

Sorry but I have never seen this before and I have no clue what it means. Did you do any custom things with your system? Are you running homebrew? Any other weird packages? No, it's a standard update from Lion, which itself, was a clean install on a new hard drive. Haven't installed anything other than standard apps for a long time and that was the first time in months I've fired up Terminal. Weird huh? Would it be worth trying 1.5.6? Are there any issues I should watch out for if I run that?

This is weird, I've build the binary on 10.8.2 myself so I would have expected it to work without any problems. Could you try the following for me, open a terminal and go into the Electrum.app cd /Applications/Electrum.app/Contents/MacOS ./Electrum
Please let me know what this gives you This gives me "Illegal instruction: 4"

But those bitcoins would have been bought on the market previously which would have pushed the price up, so it's swings and roundabouts if you're just considering the market price. If you account for the increase in new users then it's probably net positive
Having such complex technology like Bitcoin for understand and use - I doubt someone new will go and buy it. I better would bet that existing bitcoin holders will spend their coins which would cause price drop. I was new just a few months ago and didn't have too much of a problem, and I would be considered old on these forums . I doubt any person who is capable of setting up a WP blog would have any problem with bitcoin at all

My dear, bitpay is a proxy payment processor. When someone purchase something via bitpay, price go down as this amount immediately sold on market. Serious business with current Bitcoin being in beta? Oh plllllzzzz.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niaMCTPDNeoBut those bitcoins would have been bought on the market previously which would have pushed the price up, so it's swings and roundabouts if you're just considering the market price. New release: 1.5.7ChangesCore- The blockchain headers file is no longer included in the packages, it will be downloaded on startup.
- New command line option: -P or --portable, for portable wallets. With this flag, all preferences are saved to the wallet file, and the blockchain headers file is in the same directory as the wallet.
- New translations
Lite GUI- Added the ability to export your transactions to a CSV file.
- Added a label dialog after sending a transaction.
- Reworked receiving addresses; instead of a random selection from one of your receiving addresses a new widget will show listing unused addresses.
- Removed server selection. With all the new server options a simple menu item does not suffice anymore.
You can find up-to-date downloads for Linux, OSX and Windows on the website. Hi. I haven't played with Electrum for a while so decided to download this version to have another look. Previously I had used version 1.01 without any problems. I'm running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Unfortunately it is crashing at startup. I get a couple of "bounces" in the dock then it freezes. A few seconds later a notification box appears telling me that "Electrum quit unexpectedly." Can you suggest something I can try to get the application running?

I'm wondering about one thing. This calculation relies on the high, low, and closing prices. But in my thread here we see that mixed currency trades have pushed the Mt Gox high above the true USD high. In fact at the moment the high is indicated at 13.6499 even though no USD trade was made at that price. Does this have a significant effect on this chart? Or do these incorrect highs get averaged out?
