1361  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your ultimate choice? on: July 26, 2022, 08:01:14 PM
Nothing I will choose except BTC and ETH. Honestly we don't need other coins in the crypto market. More coins mean more confusion in a already crowded space. So I personally wouldn't choose anything other than bitcoin and ETH.

The functionalities a crypto should have, are present in these two cryptoa and that should be it.

Also BCH is a fake coin so avoid it at all costs.
1362  Economy / Economics / Re: Henan Bank decides to use citizens money for investment on: July 26, 2022, 07:38:54 PM
That's why Bank's dominance on the economy should end. The similar situation happened in India as well where the promoters of the bank lent money to a loss making company and the company couldn't pay off their loan. So the government had to step in and they are still trying to sell off the assets of the bank so that they can pay the depositors back.

This is the story of banks almost everywhere in the world. That certainly shows the importance of having the control over your own money!
1363  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos You're Playing That Are not On This Forum on: July 26, 2022, 01:30:12 PM
For me, it's a fiat based casino website. I don't absolutely choose any crypto casino that are not available in this forum. The reasons could be many but for me it is very important to get in touch directly with the administration through the forum. Even though I never required to do this, but it's always better to have the reference available.

Outside the forum, I engage into fantasy sports which is a fiat based game licensed in my country.
1364  Economy / Economics / Re: BlackRock suffers $1.7 trillion loss in 6 months on: July 25, 2022, 06:23:56 PM
Global market is taking a big hit due to number of reasons. There's no way for a stock/bond based investment management company to avoid it for the foreseeable future. Blackrock is big so their losses are mounting up to trillions.

If ETFs are doing marginally better. Perhaps this strengthens a case for crypto ETFs receiving a greenlight?

No! Crypto market is doing equally bad so even if traditional ETFs are doing slightly better, that doesn't make a strong use case for the crypto ETFs to get a green light. My personal opinion is, it is always better for bitcoin not to link with the traditional economy.
1365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finland sold 1,900 BTC, for a good cause on: July 25, 2022, 01:35:13 PM
It's good to see a super positive use of bitcoin. Especially when various countries are seeing bitcoin under a negative light due to its usage in money laundering or dark web, it's a refreshing news that a huge amount of bitcoin will be used in humanitarian aid.

It's so very kind of Finland to extend their support towards Ukraine in such a positive way. Good thing should receive good publicity and praises.
1366  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the real impact of cryptocurrency mining? on: July 25, 2022, 10:38:05 AM
If some countries ban bitcoin mining, some other countries will step in and seize the opportunity. Also do you have a clear data to show how many percentage of 70 terrawatt hours are fulfilled by renewable energy? That will show the real impact of bitcoin mining across the world. Otherwise you will always have an one-sided perspective to it like many European countries are getting.

If Europe bans it, Russia will rightfully step in and welcome the miners to setup operations in their country. That's how international businesses work so miners will never run out of choice.
1367  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese digital economy to integrate Crypto and NFTs on: July 15, 2022, 04:35:08 PM
The Chinese government has announced that it will be integrating cryptocurrencies and NFTs into its digital economy.

The Shanghai Municipal People's Government mentions blockchain and NFTs in a document addressed to its district governments, offices, and bureaus.
This move is seen as a way to boost the country's adoption of blockchain technology and promote innovation.

However, some are skeptical of the government's motives, as it has a history of crackdowns on cryptocurrency exchanges and trading.
Nonetheless, this is a positive development for the cryptocurrency and NFT industries, and it will be interesting to see how China implements these technologies in the future.

Don't ever believe the Chinese government and their statements. They can change their statement whenever they wish to. China is the first country which banned ICO platforms. They had launched crackdown on crypto miners. They have taken multiple steps to curb the usage of cryptocurrency in their economy. So I just can't digest this statement.

Do you have a link from a chinese website? Even though it doesn't hold much value but still that will be good for reference.
1368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fixes everything - how does it fix Pharma? on: July 15, 2022, 02:05:09 PM
Was talking with my gf who has diabetes type 1. The main reason it hasn't been cured is because maintenance drugs make more money than cures. A lone doctor recently came up with a stem cell cure, but it will take a long time to come to market. A trillion dollar industry was not incentivised to put money into a cure - yet one doctor could do it. How does Bitcoin solve this incentive? Or can it?

How will bitcoin fix it? I see no way for bitcoin to fix this situation. It's not even related to finance or financial inclusion whatsoever. I don't see how bitcoin can jump into it and fix the issue to be honest.

Btw, this kind of cures are very dangerous for the doctor who have invented it. He can be murdered at any time and his notes can be stolen and destroyed. Pharmaceutical companies are nothing less than a mafia. Same goes for oil companies.
1369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Discussion] Should Online Gambling be Banned? on: July 15, 2022, 08:38:31 AM
The answer is - NO!

First thing we all have to understand is that no gambling houses are a charitable institution. They are a business entity and it really doesn't matter if it's online or offline.

Gambling is an entertainment. If you play it online or offline, it gives you adrenaline rush. Do they not loose money in offline casinos? Obviously they do! So what's the point in banning online casinos and give priority of offline casinos?
1370  Economy / Economics / Re: The fear of Bitcoin monopoly in El Salvador on: July 14, 2022, 07:04:04 PM
Can it be made public enough to scare off monopolists?

It entirely depends on the type of monopolists! A legal and tax paying monopolist wouldn't bother whether the transactions are public or not. But an illegal monopolist will be definitely worried because their data is becoming public. A tax evader will be worried. A criminal will surely be worried. A black market dealer will be worried.

So it entirely depends on the type of monopolist. If you stand at the right side of the law, you shouldn't be worried at all.
1371  Economy / Gambling / Re: A New Era for Betting - (After Corona Circumstances) on: July 14, 2022, 04:05:59 PM
It's no wonder that sports industry has taken a big hit during pandemic which is now slowly coming back to normal. But online gambling industry had really flourished to another level during this time. While people were stuck at home, they found gambling entertainment quite amusing and started jumping into the bandwagon.

There is a fascinating study available if you want to read,

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/05/210517083636.htm

So even when the market is coming back to normal, gambling industry found new players who are expected to indulge more into grambling especially sports.

It's all positive for business. Let's just hope it doesn't bring multiple disorders back associated with gambling.
1372  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Fileverse: decentralized file sharing on: July 14, 2022, 11:20:14 AM
There have been multiple projects on the same space in the past and all of them failed miserably. So if you are thinking of investing, refrain from doing so. Such kind of projects would only make sense if suddenly Google or Microsoft stops providing free clould storage. But now, such kind of secured and encrypted storage has a very very limited market and coupl3 of established enterprise level players.

So the future prospect of such projects are not that shiney. So don't invest a dime here.
1373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1BTC (69,000 loaves) ≠ 1BTC (20,000 loaves) if Bitcoin is a currency on: July 14, 2022, 05:04:22 AM
Quote
If you acquire Bitcoin as an investment, and you are going to HODL it for a long time, I understand that you repeat the mantra that 1BTC is 1BTC

Not necessarily! Because this statement is not practical!

Bitcoin has not yet reached to such a stage where we can consider it as an independent currency. To be honest, bitcoin is a great investment but not a good currency to transact on a daily basis for number of reasons. If bitcoin was really a great currency, it would have become a dominant payment method by now which certainly didn't happen. But it has become a great investment because of its upside potential. It has become a great trading currency because of its volatility and that's pretty much it!
1374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why not use Tether instead of Bitcoin ? on: July 13, 2022, 07:57:22 PM
Why do people not promote Tether instead of Bitcoin?

Is it because there is no money to be made in Tether?

Isn't the whole idea of Bitcoin to have a decentralized network that is useful and fair?  Isn't that Tether?

1:1 seems fairer than 1:20,000 ...

Tether is a psuedo cryptocurrency without any supply cap. It is better positioned as a digital version of dollar rather than a full scale cryptocurrency. So if you are taking about cryptocurrency, Tether doesn't really fit the bill.

Also when it comes to volume, Tether churns out a major volume every single day into the crypto market because of the calculative convenience it provides to the tether. So it ia heavily promoted in the market. Your statement doesn't stand at all.
1375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How Gambling companies can get more uses to deposit. on: July 13, 2022, 06:13:40 PM

The key import things in there were :
1. Choice
2. Experience
3. Privacy
4. Preference

These are important but you have missing couple of other parameters which are very very important for the sustainability of an online casino,

1. Trust
2. Promo offers on deposits

A lot of crypto gambling people takes these two parameters as paramount while choosing a new crypto casino for themselves. Trust is very impactful parameter among all others because scams are rampant and anything can happen in an online environment without any regulatory body.
1376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everyone believes in BTC because of scarcity, how hard is it to increase.. on: July 13, 2022, 02:56:26 PM
..Supply if validators consent?

The bitcoin community didn't agree to increase even the block size which created multiple forked coins till date. So I can assume it is next to impossible for the community to agree on the supply increase. Also scarcity is the beauty of bitcoin to be honest. Many people have invested heavily into bitcoin mining to earn their share into the 21 million coins. If the supply suddenly increases, this is going to create a chaos and a drastic price drop. It will be a total mess. So I don't see such proposal is getting a green light from the network participants anytime sooner or later.
1377  Economy / Economics / Re: China crushes mass protest by bank depositors demanding their life savings back on: July 12, 2022, 03:49:04 PM
People do not get what's actually happening in China. So if you are getting the news that banks in China are not repaying their depositors, the actual situation might be very very different and more serious than it looks like. It is a dictator run country and not much news comes out to the rest of the world.

We all have to remember that Karma bites back. Chinese nationals are infamous for hacking and various other types of cyber attacks. They have given loans to other countries and taken over strategical positions from the defaulters to strengthen their military presence. Now the same debt trap is crushing their own citizens. All good!
1378  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: G20 to propose worldwide crypto rules in October on: July 12, 2022, 02:51:07 PM
The FSB (Financial Stability Board, a body of regulators from the Group of 20 economies - G20) said on Monday that it would propose global rules for cryptocurrencies somewhere near October.FSB says that the recent downfall of the crypto market showcased crypto's volatility and links to the wider financial system. The FSB has no power to impose any new laws, however, but its members could apply the regulations in their own jurisdictions.

Plenty of 'experts' are saying that the crypto industry should welcome the regulation with open arms, as centralization would, apparently, further stabilize the market and protect the investors' funds, but can it actually aid the market, or will it further hamper the adoption of crypto across the world - we're soon to find out.

G20 is no authority body to impose anything. They can only nake recommendations and that's going to be the case. It depends on the country itself whether they want to impose any rules or not and if they want to, they can use the recommendation as a guideline. So that's fine! I don't see any impact here!

Let them do their job and we will do ours. That should be it! Nothing to worry about. Rather it is very much possible that a favorable guidelines will be issues.
1379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Adoption In El Salvador Seems To Be Failing on: July 11, 2022, 06:36:52 PM
I see this article recently https://markettimes.co.uk/cryptocurrencies/bitcoin-adoption-in-el-salvador-seems-to-be-failing/ what do you think about it? I think Bukele knows the potential of the Bitcoin. The problem is that people wants to be billionaire investing $1000 one day and waiting to get 100,000,000 in a week from earnings of Bitcoin. We need to remember that bitcoin only gonna be 21,000.000

Patience is the key here! Like many other millions of bitcoin investors, El-Salvador treasury is also feeling the heat of falling bitcoin price and high volatility. Bitcoin has potential but you need to give time. It can't happen overnight.

People and especially from opposition parties will always try to find loopholes in the current system and yell about that. Just imagine, if bitcoin went upto 100,000 level, then we wouldn't have seen such statements today. So it's a matter of time and that's it!
1380  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on CBDC's and long-term effect on the cryptomarket on: July 11, 2022, 12:57:48 PM
CBDC is a definitely a tool which will provide an upper hand to the government in order to control our finances in a better way. You can't anymore evade taxes, your funds can be blocked anytime if government suspects anything wrong. You won't be able to hide anything to the government when it comes to finance. It's a monitoring and spying tool for the government.

So once we move to CBDC regime, I expect cryptocurrency to go even higher as the demand will be increased for privacy. So in long term, we will see high demand in cryptocurrency market, especially for the privacy focused ones. That's my assessment of the situation.
