I've noticed my total portfolio graph is often a few percent above my actual holdings.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: May 15, 2017, 07:19:37 AM

Download vmware player and install xubuntu in a virtual machine. Perform update on the os and reboot.

I was under the impression that a virtual machine protects the host OS from possible malware from within the VM, but not the opposite. Am I wrong?

It can be both.  The virtual machine is like a separate PC and if it's running linux, then even better.   A malware on the vm cannot harm the host, and a malware on the host (assuming windows os) cannot harm the vm, however if someone is able to control your host os, then they can start the vm and do damage, or "steal/copy" from the vm.

Thanks for the info. I need to do more research obviously.

I do like your strategy for keeping your keys safe. I have been keeping mine in a truecrypt encrypted usb stick, with a symbolic link pointing from the .factom folder to the truecrypt mount folder. However, this is on a laptop which I use regularly for other stuff, so not as secure as your method.

I don't know why the Factom devs have chosen not to encrypt the wallet, but I'll feel better when a safer option comes along.

allright so waiting for exodus is not a option anymore. I want to get my coins of polo and I heared the enterprise wallet is real difficult to use.. ? a few posts back I read its updated? Not a gui I think?

It is a GUI and not difficult to use in my experience.

Are there plans to add ETH pairs? e.g. Poloniex ETH/GNT

Thanks.

Nice app btw. Just installed it.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your opinion about Dash on: April 18, 2017, 09:55:20 AM
Anyone who is using the term premine with Dash clearly does not know the meaning of the word
premine and therefore should really look up the definition of that word. They make themself look
like a fool using that word.

You can use coinmarketcap to see which cryptocurrencies are premined, you will not find Dash
classified as premined there as it never was premined.

This seems an issue of semantics more than anything but even if the term is incorrectly used it does not change the reality that a significant amount of coins were mined in a very small amount of time the terminology does not change that.

qwizzie is correct; anyone using the word "premine" to describe this is a fool. It was clearly not a premine. A premine is the act of an honest person. To premine is to say "this is what I have done and if you do not like it then go elsewhere".

The actions of Mr Duffield are obviously contrary to this....

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero or Cloak? on: March 22, 2017, 05:12:32 PM

its always the coin with low value wins all these competition. monero is nothing but owned only by shady legandary here in the forum thats owns millions of it.  chose cloak, you'd profit more from it than on monero that will just keep going down right you put money into it.

Noone owns millions of Monero. Nooen is so stupid to risk that much of their money for a speculative crypto.

Monero was never almost free, like so many other coins, so all coins need to be bought with BTC and now also with USD and euros.

Noone? yeh we all know about that. how much do you think i have before i dumped mine before its price stays at 0.50$ for almost half a year?

I have my money on SDC this this time. its decentralized than monero and has better technology than that monero crap.

SFYL

9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 20, 2017, 10:09:53 PM

Instead with the shorters who lost money its a different story, because its not one, not two, not three videos in which fluffy and his gang discredited dash, its many of them! And he clearly told in these videos that dash is a total scam and its not worth even a cent. So what will someone do who saw that and thought its the truth, right he would short after the first move from 10 to 20 dollar. And he will only short more the higher it goes (if he has money left, perhaps he will also sell his wife/mother/... if he hasen't), because with all these flaws and scams, dash is not even worth 1 dollar, not 10, not 20, .... -> but it turned out they got burned all and now its worth 100 dollar, so who did scam all the noobs? Fluffy or Dash?

Speaking as one of the people referred to above, I have to tell you that no, I did not short Dash after watching these videos, and you can rest assured my loved ones are safe (for now). That's because I have a brain (and not even a highly functional one).

What I did is put a little effort into reading up on Dash, after which I'm convinced Dash is indeed a scam, whether or not it's making some people profit.

Of course, if a low percentage of Dash victims actually try and realise that profit, the whole thing comes tumbling down. So much for market cap.

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ShadowCash on: March 20, 2017, 07:35:58 AM
What are your thoughts on investing in shadowcash? Is it a good investment now as the price is quite low comparing with recent earlier times.
Its at #30 on coinmarket cap, what does that say about it?

You didn't mention the recent announcement by the Shadowcash devs in your post so I'm going to put this here:

https://blog.shadowproject.io/2017/03/17/particl-a-new-platform/
Damn! I did not know about that. And I bought some today, gladly just sold them without any loss.
Thank you for sharing the news man, you saved me today.
And I have to be a lot more careful from now on.

Yes I know the feeling  Grin

You're welcome.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH & Monero Desktop Wallets on: March 20, 2017, 07:11:06 AM
Exodus is a desktop wallet that has both Monero & ETH with other cryptocurrencies and there is no requirements to download anything except the wallet.

Does Exodus support Monero?

I haven't used it but as far as I can tell Monero isn't yet supported, though it is on their roadmap for 2017.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin/s are (Dash, Monero, ZCASH) are TRULY anonymous? on: March 19, 2017, 05:13:12 PM

Which is bullshit of course, Dash is both decentralized with its miners and its masternodes and has a trustless setup:

This just proves that generalizethis can not be trusted with regards to statements about Dash.

Aren't a lot of those VPS hosts?

Yes, and qwizno is aware of this fact (as it's been pointed out many times, as recent as days ago--see link) and he chooses to ignore it and to continually post graphics that are meant to fool noobs.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1828180.msg18212134#msg18212134

Qwizno, he's still waiting for an answer--it's only a rhetorical question if you are full of shit.

It looks like more than 60% of Dash masternodes are hosted on VPS's.

I would like to know how this chart shows any evidence that Dash is "decentralised", or that all those masternodes aren't owned by one person.

Seriously folks I wouldn't be reading too much into this chart. It literally took me less than 7 seconds to make!

It's kinda fun to compare with the current chart after all these months, but it's not indicative of any voodoo economical magic or intensive chart painting. Smiley

Sorry, like it or not you are now a prophet and will move markets with a wave of your wand. Smiley

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who or what moron is buying dash at these prices on: March 16, 2017, 09:48:55 AM
Out of the 4014 masternodes currently active .. can you tell me which one is mine ?
Can you prove to me that any subset of those masternodes are not controlled by the same person?
please answer my question

Sure, I'll answer (because I'm not trying to be evasive). No, I can't tell which masternode is yours. But I also cannot tell how many masternodes you own. For all I know, you own ALL the masternodes. Because with Dash masternodes are anonymous. Now I will ask my question again:

How do you prove that any subset of the masternodes are not controlled by the same person?

<crickets>

Epic fail. Can't tell him which masternode is his LOL

<whoosh>
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SCAM ALERT: DASH on: March 15, 2017, 10:04:38 AM
The article did not take an objective look at how Dash picked up momentum and how the coins circulated in the markets after the instamine. Due to this not being looked at as a serious project in the beginning the instamine reapers mostly sold it off which spread out the circulation because many did not want to be bagholders of what seemed to be a ready to die coin. It may have been near 2 million instamine but the amount that remains centralized to a few lucky SOB's is below 1 million. Less than 14% of the circulation right now reflects the instamine. Less than 10% is held by Evan, so he can't crash the market by cashing out. He wouldn't want to when this can just keep growing. This "scam" propaganda simply will not affect the use of Dash at this point. It's irrelevant now

Do you have proof of these claims? I'd be very interested in seeing it.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dash not going to coinbase? on: March 12, 2017, 11:05:32 AM
I kept hearing rumours that Dash was going to coinbase. But Charlie Lee seems to think not.

https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/840660605509935104

To be honest i'm not really all that interested in knowing what Charlie Lee (the lead developer who abandoned his own cryptocurrency)
thinks about Dash or says about Dash.

OK, but are you interested in what Charlie Lee (the Director of Engineering at Coinbase) has to say on whether dash will be listed there?

Not really, i'm from Europe so the chances are very slim that i will ever use Coinbase.
I would be far more interested to hear if Kraken would accept Dash in the nearby future.

So you're only interested in what effects you personally?

Well, he was asking for my personal interest ..

What interests you, and what effects you personally, are not (necessarily) the same thing.

edit: (necessarily). Perhaps in your case they are.
