I google "Bitcoin forums" and find Bitcointalk.com.

Guess what is on their Home page.

BitcoinTalk Discussion Board - WARNING – While Bitcointalk.org has a wealth of information about Bitcoin and some very knowledgeable members be aware that the site is run by scammers.  Do not trust any of the ads even if they are endorsed by the site administrators.  The site also encourages the sale of accounts you can never be sure who you are dealing with.

Are we happy with that?

What would the reason be for that?

Anyone have an idea?

It's been there a couple of years. I agree with what it says about site ads (one claiming there has never been a better time to buy mining equipment comes to mind). To be fair there is a warning under the ads stating that they are not endorsed by the forum.

I'm not sure the site "encourages" sale of accounts, but it is allowed. I doubt it could be stopped anyway.

Whether that makes them scammers is a matter of opinion I guess..

Sorry Phinnaeus Gage, it's been slightly over 24 hours and I still haven't heard how your post is related to thread.  If you'd like to repost simply explain with the image.

I'm fair but stern.

There was an anagram of "thread" within his post.

I love to exchange a smile with a stranger. It only happens when my mind is peaceful, which is not very often.

Fiction - Ender's Game. I had wanted to read this one for a while but never got around to it. There's a while series of books after this one, but I'm not sure if I want to read them all or not. Anyone have any experience with them?

I've read the series and enjoyed them all, though they did start to deteriorate a bit by the third.

I recommend the series by Alastair Reynolds beginning with Revelation Space if you like sci-fi/space opera. I was completely engrossed in this (probably time to read it again)

As for non-fiction, The Magic Furnace by Marcus Chown explains (in a noob freindly way!)  the history of how science discovered the origin of atoms in stars.

Quote
Every atom in our bodies has an extraordinary history. Our blood, our food, our books, our clothes - everything contains atoms forged in blistering furnaces deep inside stars, which were blown into space by those stars' cataclysmic explosions and deaths. From red giants - stars so enormous they could engulf a million suns - to supernova explosions - the most violent events in the universe - the birth of every atom was marked by cosmic events on an enormous scale, against a backdrop of unimaginable heat and cold, brightness and darkness, space and time. But how did we discover the astonishing truth about our cosmic origins? THE MAGIC FURNACE is Marcus Chown's extraordinary account of how scientists unravelled the mystery of atoms, and helped to explain the dawn of life. It is one of the greatest detective stories in the history of science. In fact, it is two puzzles intertwined, for the stars contain the key to unlocking the secret of atoms, and the atoms the solution to the secret of stars

I know that it's legit.  But it can help other to scam.
Think about it.

Solution: trust nobody.

What is the minimum amount of time you could go from newb to full member in?

You need to post in 9 two week periods, so if you created a new account today you'd be a Full Member on 16th of Sept providing you made enough posts obviously.

Thank you. I was just trying to establish if it's profitable to buy accounts rather than just level one. It is slightly.
408  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory failing to load. on: June 03, 2014, 07:07:08 PM
When you get in a state that crashes Armory, try to start it with the --offline switch. If it starts, then what you are experiencing is some sort of recurrent DB corruption. Do you use an anti virus or some sort of system snapshot recovery? What about HDD and RAM health?

I don't use an anti-virus or recovery tool. I'll try what you suggest and check out my hardware (I haven't had any other problems though and bitcoind runs fine)

Thank you for your suggestions.

What is the minimum amount of time you could go from newb to full member in?

About 4 months.

So there's only about one months difference between buying an account and selling your sig (before breaking even) and levelling one.

I suppose it's easier though...

411  Bitcoin / Armory / Armory failing to load. on: June 03, 2014, 06:51:07 PM
I keep getting this same problem over and over.

When I first install the databases everything works fine. Then I come back after a few days and armory wont load; just crashes out. I found a post on here a while ago saying that is caused by a corrupted bitcoin database and is fixed by deleting both DB and starting again.

So I do that and it works for a few days then crashes again... round and round..

The only thing I can think that could even be relevant is that I'm solo mining (probably isn't relevant at all).

Anyone have an idea what is going on here?

I've bought from overclockers in the past and will again now. This is excellent news.

I wouldn't recommend their pre-builds though. My friend bought one and it was woefully under-cooled
413  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Cheap full member on: June 03, 2014, 05:54:16 PM
These are getting very cheap. Why don't you just use it in a sig campaign? You'd make your money in 2-3 months.
414  Other / Meta / Re: Should bitcointalk account trading be banned? on: June 02, 2014, 08:46:07 PM
Since you can't stop people selling accounts, it would be better to focus on informing the newbs that they shouldn't trust anyone based on age of account, rank or trust rating.

Ok, so you have family and kids, and you are addicted to sex? What things do you enjoy in your life without sex and Is there any moments when you do not think about sex? And with the addict part, you 100% sure you want to lose your addiction or you are not sure?

it's not sex he's worrying about.  it's with random people.  he's obviously the Devil

 Grin

I want to change because I have a family, and obviously this cuts into my ability to have a fulfilling relationship.

I think I misunderstood you earlier when you mentioned your family. Just to be clear, you have a wife/gf and child?

are u trying to have a babby repeatedly without first asking the niehgobrs persmission?

As of the last few years, I have been getting more into not finishing in a woman, and more into finishing places that a lot of women find degrading.  Face, ass, etc.

This is interesting, especially coupled with what you said about seeing women as objects. There seems to be some strong misogyny in your relationship to women. Do you agree with that? If so, any idea where that may originate?

p.s. the only way I know how to multi-quote here is to open 2 tabs so I can copy-paste into the reply box.

Yes, I have a significant other, and a child with her.  She knows I have an issue, but not the full extent.

I think I agree with the misogyny.  It stems from not being popular in school, and having a hard time making friends.  Now I feel like I can take revenge on women because of it.  I have also sought out people who I did not get along with in school, and seduced their wives/gfs.

Yes I can understand that. Being unpopular in school  is very dis-empowering. Probably more so from girls. It also explains why you're unconcerned about lying to them to get what you want. You might even enjoy that aspect? It sounds like to some extent this is all about regaining your power as a person/ego.

I have similar tendencies (misogyny) myself which I've only recently realised the full extent of. It's kind of sad really; to have such a negative relationship to half the human race :/

You mentioned a couple of local shops that accept bitcoin. Maybe they'd be interested in selling you some?

Are you a sex addict from having too much sex? or just masturbation.

Do you want to change or are you happy with it?

These have both been answered if you care to read the thread.
