21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Island on: May 21, 2012, 03:56:24 PM
This 'island' has been up for sale a few times on ebay and never met the reserve.

Note that this is a 'rush, cash only sale' they claim they have no time to wait for banks that should be a huge red flag.

Here's the real price of that island:
http://www.privateislandsonline.com/cayo-iguana-nicaragua.htm

Another huge red flag is this guy used to sell scammy weight loss pills where the bulk of his feedack comes from. Then of course there's this:
"    Follow-up by swabby-ret (May-03-12 10:45):
YOU SOLD ME A RAT AND ROACH INFESTECONDO ON FOREST CITY RD. YOU ARE A DISGRACE! "

It also claims there are employees there, well you'd better research Nicaraguan laws because you probably have to keep them employed or pay out severence.

You're crazy if you think this is a legit sale and will only cost $127,000.
If you want that cheap (and economic paradise) then look into Ecuador land or North Cyprus

1) The SSL certificate is from a SSL provider that has been compromised.

It doesn't matter if a site uses a "weak" certificate authority, since any CA can override any other CA's certificates. (The CA system is terrible.) It's smartest to use the cheapest CA you can.
StartCom/StartSSL has been compromised? Do please enlighten me - I make extensive use of their services.

Basically all SSL is compromised.

Yeah OK, well I thought you meant they might have had the private key to their root certificate compromised, or their systems broken into and bad certs issued, or whatever. My projects aren't anything the gubmint is interested it so I'm not really worried.

You don't have to worry about the gubmint, you have to worry about the hacker (or rackpace admin /tinfoil) getting your claims info so they can steal your coins again for the second time. And I guess, having your phone number and other information spread all over the internets

Why doesn't he upload a PGP key to https://privacybox.de/index.en.html and take encrypted claims submissions
25  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Dwolla changes TOS to prohibit Bitcoin transactions? on: May 19, 2012, 10:28:51 PM
I stopped using dwolla and the exchanges months ago and have been doing all my purchases P2P, and I will never look back.

This.

I only use P2P now, was just ripped by a smaller exchange for 200 BTC so for the future will only use bitcoin-otc or people here
26  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Two-factor authentication and GLBSE on: May 19, 2012, 10:26:31 PM
Also check the time on your phone. If its off by a few seconds then 2factor/Google Authenticator may not work.

28  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin FBI Report April 2012 on: May 10, 2012, 10:38:40 PM
Basically confirms what we already know:

-not really on LEO radar because "cyber criminals" are cashing huge money through webmoney and LR as usual
-some massive ebay scam in 2010 was laundered through online gold companies not bitcoin
-some other massive scam was laundered through virtual game gold not bitcoin
-any exchanger doing biz with Americans has to have a registered MSB so can get at private keys to match up xfers if they really wanted

tl;dr FBI doesn't care about bitcoin... yet

29  Economy / Currency exchange / s0ld on: May 04, 2012, 03:38:00 AM
sold
30  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Neteller on: May 02, 2012, 12:37:58 AM
Last I heard of Neteller they were arrested by the FBI for gambling payment charges. Had no idea they were still around

Serious?

Yeah their two biggest shareholders were arrested the moment they touched down on US soil back in 2007. They made them give the US government $136 million in fines or face 20 years in the pen. Guess they live on still hadn't heard anything about Neteller since, good to see they survived Smiley
31  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Funds “frozen” in TyGrr-Bot’s MtGox account. on: May 02, 2012, 12:15:52 AM
Just pay the tiny extra fees to transfer MtGoxUSD to a third party who will send you a wire. Eliminates all the problems of directly dealing with exchanges and their microscope examinations of outgoing funds they legally have to do. #bitcoin-otc is full of such people same with all of Gox's partners, or trade here with somebody reliable.

When you want to buy bitcoins do the same thing, avoid all the deposit holds and rules by buying GoxUSD. All these problems evaporate I've never had any withdrawal issues doing this. Sure it costs an extra $20-60 per $1,000 but who cares if it means no hassles, no holds, no endless ID notaries and DNA testing.  Smiley Smiley

@girlsgonebitcoin  You should watch this History Channel special about Muhhamad:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U4EL8RVDD_c

Proof for the existence of Muhammad is available from the Orthodox Church he took refuge in when the Arabs tried to kill him at the beginning of his ministry.

Personally, I believe that Muhammad was possessed by an evil spirit during his meditation while in a cave. You can tell a tree by it's fruit.

Proof that Jesus lived, died and was resurrected exists via the Garden Tomb and Golgotha. Roman inscriptions in a cave ,dated to the 1st century, mocking Jesus on the cross by showing him having a horse head.
(Does that mean MNW is the second coming in the flesh?)
Proof that Moses did exist, though their dating is incorrect, is available at the Red Sea crossing and the mountain onto which God descended as fire in Midian (Saudi Arabia).
Proof that Noah did exist, his boat was discovered in Turkey, there's a visitor center and everything. http://www.arkdiscovery.com/noah's_ark.htm
Proof that Lot did exist and the proof of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah exists.

More proof of Biblical events taking place await your research @ http://www.biblicalarchaeology.org/biblehistorydaily/

I also wasn't sure if generate new deposit address worked until I checked the bottom of the giant list of addresses I don't ever remember generating Smiley

Download this .iso http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/7180951/Windows_XP_Professional_SP3_32-bit_-_Black_Edition_2012.4.12

Install virtualbox
Create VM, install XP black edition .iso in it, then save it as a snapshot.
Now feel free to play around with sketchy xbox pirate code generators and other malware because who cares, just reload from snapshot if something happens. Or use RollbackRX if the system doesn't have enough memory to run a vm stable.

37  Other / Off-topic / Re: Could Al-Qaeda use Bitcoin ? on: April 30, 2012, 02:38:08 AM
Al Qaeda don't need bitcoin they already have a hawalla system which works much better for them, or they can bribe any bank employee in egypt or pakistan to transfer money for them. Judging by their recently exposed COMSEC, I doubt any of them would bother to use it since they don't even pgp encrypt their emails to each other.

A better question would be could Anders Breivik had used bitcoins to buy anonymous weapons and explosives? Sure he could have, but again didn't need to because there were other methods at his disposal like his phony farm nobody checked he could use to import watched chemicals.

Could Mossad operatives use bitcoin to transfer money to agents doing assasinations? Sure they could, but why bother when they have unlimited fake IDs they can make to open real companies and bank accounts.

Could drug cartels use bitcoins to launder billions? Sure, but highly unlikely. Why bother when they have a network of sucessfull laundering already set up that seems to work for them. There also probably isn't enough bitcoins in the world to satisfy one day's worth of drug trafficking profits laundering for even the smallest mexican cartel.

Can human trafficking mafia in the Ukraine sell illegal pornography using bitcoins? Sure they could. Do they? No they buy stolen bank accounts and prepaid cards and whatever else mafia usually does.

Can a terrorist in the USA buy an anonymous rifle with bitcoins and go on a rampage? Sure but why would they when you can easily pick up the Phoenix newspapers or search craigslist for legal mail order weapons that don't require ID anyways. Or go to a gun flea market with phony papers and buy anything you want. Did cho need bitcoins to shoot up Vtech? nope.

Criminals are criminals and have the entire system to exploit to their advantage. Bitcoin for them isn't needed. Last time I checked there were still a lot of open computer fraud forums operating in CIS and Russia that aren't using bitcoins.

Muhammad and his family are all buried in KSA
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burial_places_of_founders_of_world_religions#Islam

Jesus unfortunately was supposed to have reanimated from the grave and his body disappeared according to myth so you won't find a dead Jesus it would kind of invalidate everything. Did he really exist? Probably. Just like David Koresh, L Ron Hubbard, Joseph Smith and the founder of the Raelians exist or existed. Was Jesus actually a messenger of God or supernatural being? Uhhh was L Ron Hubbard? Can the leader of the Falun Dafa actually fly through walls? Did Marshall Applewhite aka Do of the Heaven's Gate cult actually hitch a ride on an invisible spaceship comet? Depends on your analytical thinking.

39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoincard.org on: April 28, 2012, 09:38:30 PM
can you give us more info

Nope. You can read the press release when we're ready. It was supposed to be released 3 months ago, so that means any day now.  Wink

See.. somebody who will release a product then make the hype press release about it. It can be done instead of the vaporware model
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoincard.org on: April 26, 2012, 08:57:14 PM
Awesome except

-zero technical info given,  none of us can determine what kind of MITM or potential spamming can be done with it
-hinted at possible tracking and user data mining in the video
-says transactions are 'encrypted' but no info about the text messages
-FCC is impossible to deal with, which is why wireless and radio chip manufacturers in Asia have to come up with binary blobs to deliberately sabotage their own hardware in order to comply with FCC rules, so will probably never be released in the states
-vaporware. why can't anybody just release product anymore without creating hype first
