Lisk launch post-mortem: What went right, what went wrongYesterday, at exactly 8pm UTC, we published Lisk v0.3.0 and announced the launch of Lisk. What a launch that was! In this post-mortem we bring light to the problems we faced, explain why our web login isn’t/wasn’t accessible, and clear up misunderstandings.  First of all, I’d like to apologise for the rough launch and the harm that the DDoS attack caused. Since the launch, we have been working tirelessly to ensure that all our systems are working perfectly again. We simply didn’t anticipate this overwhelming demand and trading chicanery. The only problem we still face at this moment are our web logins. The reason is the same as yesterday: huge amount of traffic and ongoing DDoS attacks. However, everything else is working very well. Users can install Lisk on various operation systems like Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. Local client installations are functional and the Lisk network is alive and healthy. The current client is aimed at technical users, but it’s relatively easy to install it with our guides. The best option is to simply use the Docker installation if you are on Windows or Mac. After we have guaranteed the network’s stability and optimised a few important Lisk modules (e.g., peer communication); we will look into options to provide a one-click Lisk client. Not just focusing on big price predictions before launch insteat of talking about ddos security on launch and we would had hit a wonderful start. Now that we are aware of the envys, we know what we are dealing with. We a entering/disrupting a real real big business, so there will be challenges like this, which, all the way down, will be handled great by community and lisk itself. Like you said We will fight for Lisk and our vision, the vision that everyone has unlimited access to all kinds of applications from any device they want. |

Interesting price development this night!
Classic launch chart, with a peak when first coins come in and than a consolidation phase. In Lisk case it hit about 2x ICO price this night and than bounced to 3x. Now it is rising again (65k satoshi).
I'm still planning on using my coins to join profit sharing pools, but if the price is right I may part of a piece of my stash.

My theory on the DDoS suspects are: 1. Large ETH mining farms worried about Lisk sinking ETH price 2. ETH whales worried about Lisk sinking ETH price, especially with GDAX ETH launch earlier today 3. Bitcoin farms or whales worried about volume shift from Bitcoin MarketCap to Lisk & ETH, perhaps that's why they DDoS'ed GDAX today too I doubt Yobit is a suspect, it's in their interest to see Lisk price rise. and definitely not Lisk Devs because everything is viewable on Lisk blockchain. totally right. Eth dumped day before. Tons of money due shorting eth put in ddos to get on cheap lisk to pump it hard after thedao will put eth in correction mode. selling lisk now will make the rich even richer. welcome everyone on mighty battlefield where only the strongest survive. weak hands will get back to their daily jobs where they came from. |

How com the dev team cant sort out a working online wallet let alone a desktop 1 yet a community member can knock up a working 1 fine!!?? Can anyone from the team comment on this? is it safe to use?
We setup a cluster consisting of several nodes with SSL encryption. This takes a while to configure. Additionally, our official logins are being heavily accessed and DDoS'ed. Next to preparing nodes we also fixed the binary installation method which didn't work because downloads.lisk.io also was being DDOS'ed. It's working now. We also worked on the Docker version which is now available for Windows, Linux and Mac OS. So now we should have all three methods working. More backup cluster will come. great to hear. media interest will be huge. like "lisk had been getting ddos'ed by competitor to generate panic and avoid high price on launch" there is no bad PR, there is only PR. keep on the good work. nice support either. feeling confident. |
