206  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Usb block erupter discount coupons for sale (0.3 Btc/pc) on: July 30, 2013, 10:42:51 PM
I was looking at the BTCGuild site and walked through the order process. I did not see any place to redeem a coupon.

They are not issued yet!

My point exactly. Not expected to be issued till Aug 5th.

I found a 20 port one I ordered it today. it should have the power needed.

http://usb.brando.com/usb-20-port-hub_p03123c039d015.html  the power supply is 20 volt 4.5 amp.

that is 90 watts  even if the unit is 70 percent when it converts to 5 volts you get 63 watts..

at 2.7 watts max for a stick  you would have to need 54 watts.  I am waiting for delivery .

Let us know how it works out. Will watch this thread.

Can anyone help please

There is no easy answer to that question. Its all bout risk/rewards. One thing that I can say with some degree of certainty, is GPU mining is not the way to go. Asic miners are what are most cost efficient .now. You will need to spend a good about of time on this forum and some Google time, until you have a good understanding.

Here are a few search terms for Google to see some of the asic hardware that is available and cumming soon.  Hang on to your cash, till you have some idea of what your are doing.
bitcoin asic
avalon asic
bitfury asic
KNC Mining Asic
Asic Miner
Butterfly Labs

If I was mining, I would create a paper wallet. It will likely be awhile before you have a significant amount, just let it go to the paper wallet while it builds up coins until you have enough to make it worth importing.

Whats a paper wallet?

Sorry im a noob. I began last week. :-/

Hello,

don't want to be whining in the very first post, but i made my homework BEFORE i came here and i got registered because i wanted to contribute to a thread of today with info not posted there so far. My comment could be of value to some. I know what bitcoins are, what they do, how they work, what the outlooks are, tho political and economic implications. I know where the coins come from, i know the altcoins too, i know what kind of people are interested in BTC, i have made my homework ... i am only not a miner (yet)

am I now in this kindergarden? For how long?

Please some mod or admin get me our of here or i leave like i have arrived. Or is it mandatory for every new member to make nonsense-responses to get their post-count up?

Thx

Lots of oorts, low proce. No specs as to voltage. I think you would need 12ma to run 24 block erupters.  http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=103&cp_id=10307&cs_id=1030702&p_id=6436&seq=1&format=4#feedback

218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Which USB hub to use with Block Erupters or K1? A List. on: July 28, 2013, 07:50:44 PM
Added TeckNet to the table. It's only about a $1 per port cheaper than Anker.

@markm: Maybe it's not the cooling, but rather the power draw by those fans, which reduced stability of the miners of the remaining ports?

I bought 3 DUB-H7 as they were the cheapest ones available in my country, saving on import taxes. Will report how they work once I actually get the miners to plug into them Smiley

The D-Link hub should work fine. Lots of people that use Raspberry Pi as a controller use them. I am running one right now on a R Pi. it also worked fine on my Windows 7 PC. It can support up to 6 BEs. But some like to leave some head room and only run 5.

The photo below shows the D-Link hub in action.

219  Economy / Economics / Why Are The MTGox and BitStamp Prices Different on: July 28, 2013, 04:20:15 PM
It appears that there are several major exchanges. Why is the price USD price 96 on one exchange and 88 on another?
