1941  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: March 10, 2021, 05:07:36 AM
Finally, we are going to watch the final match between Mumbai City and ATK Mohun Bagan. Both teams have ruled the entire season. And finally, these two teams reached the final by defeating Goa and Eastwest. The ATK team has lost two matches against Mumbai this season. But I think ATK is a better team than Mumbai. But Mumbai’s match strategy is very good and their coaches are very experienced. Anything will happen in this match.

Two of the most deserving teams reached the ISL finals and I am happy about that. ATK Mohun Bagan and Mumbai City FC were far ahead of the other teams in the group stage. FC Goa and NEU FC were long way behind them. Now it is going to be a very exciting final match on this Saturday between the two teams. And I am making a bet in favor of ATK Mohun Bagan, because I believe that the momentum is with them.
1942  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian Finance Minister on Cryptocoin. on: March 09, 2021, 07:28:42 PM
I would say its a very diplomatic answer. The answer is not clear yet but I am still optimistic. We certainly don't know what kind of experiment they will do I hope they will consider all the aspects and will not make haste before coming to any conclusion about crypto coins. Till then we can just wait and watch and hope for the best.

She's diplomatic, because state elections are near and she don't want to antagonize any of the demographic groups. There are 10-20 million cryptocurrency users in India, and cryptocurrency has become very popular even in the rural areas. But then there is always a possibility of these people going back to their hostile stance once the elections are over. Even now, they are not giving a clear answer, and this makes me suspicious. I believe that they are being diplomatic only because of the elections.
1943  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19, Lockdown and repercussions on: March 09, 2021, 07:02:13 PM
I still do not go out, it has been about 5 months since last time I got out, I did went and see my parents but that's it, aside from that I am not going out, thankfully my job allows me to work at home that is why I was capable of being at home, but I do not get people who wants to get out.

Look, there is a logic behind people who want to open up their shops, sure they will want that and lockdowns and so forth preventing some business not to open up means bankruptcy for them, so I do get the idea, maybe we should allow everyone to open up their business and work, that is understandable and that should be done, however what about other people who go out to those cafes and so forth? Why are they doing this?

What could be the reason anyone would go to a place and sit down and have a dinner there? We are in a deadly virus right now and people are still going into the problem itself.

Apart from a few irresponsible people hardly anyone is going out if it is not essential. I am working in the insurance sector and my company has allowed us to work from home. Once in two months or so, I go to restaurants to dine with my family or my friends. Apart from that, the outdoor activity is near zero. I feel bad about the restaurant and shop owners who are losing businesses. But at least here in my place, most of the restaurant owners are now concentrating on online delivery of food. And I heard that their business is doing really good.
1944  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India to regulate Bitcoin?Good news for crypto enthusiast on: March 09, 2021, 05:10:37 PM
India is an information technology powerhouse and has a wealth of human resources.  They have powerful crypto projects and are invested by organizations around the world.  Consideration of the use of cryptocurrencies will also facilitate the thriving of cryptocurrencies and blockchain in this country.  That I think is good and they can take advantage of regulations to get more crypto tax.

On the other hand Blockchain, Bitcoin and crypto are difficult to control so there is only a way to accept and put them in regulation.

No. India is not an IT powerhouse. US and UK can be regarded as IT powerhouses. India is well known for call centre and BPO/KPO companies, but if you talk about innovation and modern technology, then they are far behind. The problem is that the best talent India had migrated to countries such as US and UK during the 1990s, 2000s and even in the 2010s. The Indian government treat IT employees without any respect and try to squeeze out as much as they can in the form of taxes without providing anything in return. So it was only natural for the best among them, to migrate to the Western nations. Those who remain in India doesn't have the quality and they are contented with BPO/KPO jobs, toiling 60-70 hours per week.
1945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA EURO 2021 Discussion Thread | Current Phase: Qualifiers! on: March 09, 2021, 04:35:42 PM
Maybe Klopp can find a spot as Germany head coach after this catastrophic year in Liverpool since I don't think he will stay much by the end of this season.

Not going to happen.

Today there was an announcement from Jürgen Klopp, clarifying that he has no interest in the job. He further announced that he has more than three years left at Liverpool, and he will stick to the contract and continue with them. Anyway, Joachim Löw is going to step down only after the Euro 2021 tournament, so the DFB has enough time to find a replacement. And I am sure that they will be able to find someone much better than Jürgen Klopp.
1946  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 09, 2021, 04:12:43 PM
Spin bowlers are not going to be effective on such conditions that is why it is better to have better batsmen who can bowl. Ishant Sharma is important due to his experience and he is a wicket-taking bowler.

Jadeja is basically a batsman who can bowl, at least in the test format. His left-arm spin is more useful in the limited overs format, but in test his batting is more useful. Also, the advantage with Jadeja is that his bowling record in SENA is not that bad. And I agree with you on Ishant. He is perhaps the most underrated bowler in the Indian squad right now. I would pick him over Shardul at any point of the day. And for Siraj/Saini.. if Shami is available then these two doesn't have much of a chance to get included in the playing XI.
1947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: again a Bitcoin millionaire who forgot his password on: March 09, 2021, 01:01:13 PM
Lost coins   make everyone else's coins worth slightly more.  Think of it as a donation to everyone.

Perfectly agreed. On top of that, I would consider this as a form of wealth redistribution. It is a well known fact that most of the users who have forgot their passwords are those who accumulated thousands of coins in 2010, 2011 or 2012. So in a sense, it is good for the Bitcoin sector that these guys can't access their coins. Else too few people will be having too many coins in their possession and they will be able to manipulate the exchange rates on a regular basis.

Good luck to you that the value of the dollar is fixed for you.
In my country, $ 70 is the salary of working for 2 months, and that money is too much for us. Cheesy Cheesy

Monthly salary of just $35? In my country, it is like the minimum wage for one day of work. Where are you residing? It is very difficult to believe that such low wages exist in 21st century. Around 2 decades back, that sort of salary existed in countries such as India and Indonesia. But nowadays, the minimum is around $100 per month, and that too in the most remote and rural areas.
1949  Economy / Economics / Re: Did tesla's $1.5 billion bitcoin purchase negatively affect their stock price on: March 09, 2021, 12:23:20 PM
I don't understand how the purchase can negatively affect their stock price, when they received a huge profit from the transaction. The value of the coins purchased by Tesla in January 2021 stands at around $2.5 billion now, which represents a profit of $1 billion. And more importantly, this is more than the profit that Telsa earned by selling their electric vehicles for the entire year of 2020.

That would be so only if Tesla cashed out all their BTC at $50k+, which is hardly the case. Investors fear of the possible crash, and it's no wonder because we keep seeing negative opinions predicting "the burst of the bubble". Overall, institutional demand for Bitcoin wasn't increasing since Tesla's big purchase ... Well, maybe until today(see the latest news), so if Tesla's stock crashing was related to the $1.5 billion buy, then the things can start improving for them from now on.

If they cash out now, then they need to pay a short term capital gains tax of 37% on the gains. That means that out of the $1 billion gain, only $630 million will be going to the company reserves. Anyway, being an institutional investor, I don't think that Tesla has any plan to sell their BTC in the immediate term. They are accumulating the coins for very long-term, possibly for more than 10 years.
1950  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India to regulate Bitcoin?Good news for crypto enthusiast on: March 09, 2021, 11:49:05 AM
India has several times banning and unbanning Bitcoin, so I wouldn't surprised with any news with India regulation about Bitcoin.

That's why P2P is always the option for those country that has restricted/illegal for trading or using Bitcoin. AFAIK Indian bank also freezing bank accounts if they detect something suspicious activity with your funds, you won't get caught if you using P2P as long as you not transfer/receive huge amount money in a single time.

Government and banks aren't Bitcoin friendly, so you need to prepare this if your country has some sign or history of banning Bitcoin.

The government seems to be confused about how to deal with cryptocurrency. Some of the bureaucrats such as Subhash Chandra Garg not only want to ban Bitcoin, but also want to make the possession of cryptocurrency a punishable offense. On the other hand, there is another section, which is of the opinion that clamping down on new innovations will actually drag the Indian economy backwards. And the two camps are very vocal with their demands. As of now, the government doesn't know which position they should implement.
1951  Economy / Economics / Re: 'Cryptocurrency is not legitimate money,' says Nigeria's central bank governor on: March 09, 2021, 11:31:08 AM
Sure they indeed have their own interest of preserving their own economy though if they truly want to get into competition they maybe need to create their own version of CBDC however it's still kinda "negative" when the bank bans people's account right off the bat after using proven to be involved in crypto activities but not doing any criminality, they should be more chill about crypto while finding some solution that could give them benefits and the user of crypto aswell.

Legally they have the power to close down bank accounts of people who go against their T&C. So in this case we can't do anything about it. The only real option is to go for non-bank options, such as physical cash or digital gift vouchers as long as the banking ban is in place. Hopefully the Nigerian Supreme Court will reject the banking ban, just like what happened in India (the supreme court of India removed the banking ban on Bitcoin in 2020).
1952  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Thailand government seeks measures to tackle the problems of illegal gambling. on: March 09, 2021, 10:19:48 AM
^^^ You need to stop mixing religion in to this. Oriental religions such as Hinduism and Buddhism are much older than Semitic religions such as Christianity and Islam. But at the same time, they are much more progressive when compared to the Semitic religions. Take the case of countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Afghanistan and Iran. They became less progressive when the religion was changed from oriental to semitic.

Buddhism as such as no restriction against gambling, alcohol, porn or prostitution. If you compare countries such as Myanmar, Cambodia and Laos with Philippines and Malaysia, it becomes clear. If countries such as Thailand and Japan are trying to ban any of these sectors, then I would say that it is due to the Western influence. Because Asian countries have absorbed both good and bad from the Western culture.
1953  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 09, 2021, 10:08:52 AM
Jadeja is important for sure because he is better fielder and can be considered as best in the world right now and also he can bowl along with his handy knocks and Sundar should be the second option if they want to go with the 2 spinners because he is looking more like a regular batsman with the way he is batting and his first class batting also impressive. As you mentioned Ashwin is having difficulties on batting apart from subcontinent conditions so he is likely to be dropped but wait we have IPL in the middle so selectors will pick depending on the IPl performances as well even it is not supposed to be like that.

I am more concerned about the openers because new batsman failed to make any impressive performances in AUS and in India too so Shikar Dhawan has nay chances to be back into an opener?

Jadeja will be the first choice for me. But for me, the second choice would be Axar Patel instead of Washington Sundar. Washington is a good batsman, but in terms of bowling Axar is far ahead of him. But at the same time, I am not sure whether Axar or Washington is the better bowler in SENA conditions. Ashwin can bat, but his poor record in SENA goes against him. Kuldeep is not that bad in SENA, but his batting record is not that great.
1954  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: March 09, 2021, 07:29:37 AM
Anyone selling some Bolivars let me know thanks.

What are you going to do with the Bolivars? If someone ships you the banknotes from Venezuela to your home country, then the courier charges may be 100 times the actual worth of those banknotes. There was an article in The Guardian a few months back. They were claiming that one chicken costs some 14 million Bolivars in Venezuela. And this is what it looks like:

1955  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 09, 2021, 06:49:00 AM
Hard to decide if India should go with 2 spin allrounder or just 1, Ashwin is sure tho. Jadeja is also important and Washington might be in contest due to his batting skill. Kuldeep and Axar won't get any chance. If Hardik is fit to bowl then he's playing 100% otherwise Shardul Thakur seems good fit, he's fast bowling all rounder and heard that he made some runs in recent vijay hazare trophy too. As long as India batting deep, they should be fine.

Ashwin hasn't performed well in SENA nations, although his recent performance against Australia was OK. So I would rather prefer Axar and Jadeja in the squad. Shardul is a good all rounder. But including him means that Ishant needs to be dropped. I don't think that it is a good idea, as he (Ishant) has performed really well recently. And also, Shardul is still a bowler who can bat a bit. He is still not considered as an allrounder.
1956  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: March 09, 2021, 06:33:56 AM
This was the most important and perfect decision of the match. Amrinder was on the field for a full 120 minutes and he made a lot of great saves. It is normal to feel a little weak after 120 minutes of performance. Sergio Lobera realized that. This brought Amrinda's substitute Lachenpa to the field. The new goalkeeper Lachenpa did a great job.

FC Goa also replaced their first-choice goalkeeper (Dheeraj Singh Moirangthem) with Naveen Kumar. The coaches might have thought that the first-choice keepers may be tired after 120 minutes and therefore they may be better to go with the reserve. The goalkeepers obviously did a great job (on both sides), but how many times do you see 6 out of the 10 penalty kicks wasted? Lachenpa and Naveen Kumar did managed to save one or two kicks. But the remainder were off-target.
1957  Economy / Economics / Re: Venezuela Planning New 100,000-Bolivar Bills Worth Just $0.23 on: March 08, 2021, 08:00:06 PM
^^^ They don't have any foreign exchange reserves to support their currency, unlike the other nations. Venezuelan forex reserves were exhausted long back and no one is willing to purchase the currency at levels specified by the government. Black market rates are like 1,000 times higher than the official rates. And the government just doesn't care. They continue to print banknotes, as if everything is normal.
1958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: March 08, 2021, 07:30:49 PM
Most exciting match in the season. Spectators like me are waiting to enjoy such a match. I feel very bad for Goa. They deserved to win this match. The players of FC Goa played great throughout the match. However, Mumbai City goalkeeper Amrinder Singh played the best in today's match. Basically just for him to go to the Mumbai City final. In the full 120 minutes, Mumbai made only one on-target shot. Too much bad performance.

Mumbai City FC changed their goal keeper just before the penalty shootout, and that probably gave them the win. Amrinder Singh was the goalkeeper till 120th minute and then he was replaced with Sikkimese player Phurba Lachenpa. According to Sergio Lobera, Amrinder is a better goalkeeper, but as far as shootouts are concerned, Lachenpa is the best guy. And this move proved to be the match winner. Lachenpa saved the shot from Bedia, and that immediately put them in advantage.
1959  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week on: March 08, 2021, 01:59:27 PM
70$ is a lot of money in my country and I am quite shocked because a pack here is around 3$, that must be a lot of cigarettes. Good thing that I don't smoke because I have a lot of things that I wanted to spend on and cigarette is not one of them. There are helpful apps to keep on track with how much money you are saving by not smoking and that can be psychologically helpful as you have some sort of positive reinforcement for your commitment to stop smoking.

I guess the OP is from Turkey and there the GST is quite high for products such as alcohol and cigarettes. It is the same in most of the EU nations as well. The governments allow alcohol and cigarette sales only because they can be taxed very heavily. Else there is no reason for the government to allow their sales. So you can't really complain about the prices. There are only two options - pay 200% or 300% tax on them, or get ready to live without these products.
1960  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19, Lockdown and repercussions on: March 08, 2021, 01:30:34 PM
This is happening probably everywhere, where I live I am seeing the same pattern, people are relaxing themselves thinking the vaccines are coming so they do not have to be as careful as before, which does not make a lot of sense if you ask me, as we should take care of ourselves because we do not know if we could get sick before we get the vaccine, the good thing is that the number of cases is still going down which leads me to believe that a great deal of those that could develop severe symptoms already got infected while the rest that are getting the virus now have mild symptoms at worse.

I don't think that the relaxed attitude is due to the availability of vaccines. When the pandemic first started spreading, there was a lot of FUD floating around. But then, the people realized that the fatality rate was extremely low (~0.2%, if we take the asymptomatic cases as well). Also, for young people without comorbidities, the chances of getting hospitalized with COVID 19 is almost zero. And as far as I can see, the elderly and those with comorbidities are still taking precautions. It is the youth who are not adhering to social distancing protocols.
