Sean Williams and Donald Tiripano played an exceptional innings and Donald Tiripano missed out his century by just 5 runs and it was unfortunate as he could have reached that milestone and now they are all out for 365 runs and have a lead of just 107 runs which i think Afghanistan can score easily and there is plenty of time left for them to reach that score.

They managed a lead of more than 100 runs, but Afghanistan won the match eventually by 6 wickets. If Zimbabwe had managed to score another 30-35 runs, then it would have got really interesting. Because the Afghan batsmen really struggled during the last innings. A few more runs by the Zimbabwean tail enders could have made the difference. Anyway, all credit to Afghanistan for registering another test win.
1922  Economy / Economics / Re: Covid-19, Lockdown and repercussions on: March 12, 2021, 04:12:09 AM
The real question is whether people actually need vaccination because the virus is now almost over barring a few countries where still the virus spread is significant and concerning. I don't understand why they are vaccinating people though because it's just a wastage of money to vaccinate for the virus which is now near its end and vaccines have shown some poor side effects so why even risk injecting the vaccine when you can take minor precautions and within a few months things will be back to normal.

LOL.. do you really think that vaccinating people is just wasting money? I don't think so. The pandemic is not contained in any of the nations (perhaps with the exception of isolated island nations such as New Zealand). So far 2.64 million have died from COVID 19 (the actual death toll may be much higher) and more than 100 million have got infected. So what do you prefer?  A few million more deaths, or spending $35 billion to vaccinate everyone in this world? The United States spent $2 trillion for invading Iraq. Compared to that $35 billion looks minuscule.
1923  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 12, 2021, 03:58:59 AM
Looks like this match will be a draw. Afghanistan has collected huge runs. It is not possible for Zimbabwe to win this match. So the Zimbabwean players will want to survive at the crease anyway and draw the match. After batting so poorly in the first match, Afghanistan scored 545 runs in this match but lost only 4 wickets which surprised me.

To avoid follow on, Zimbabwe need 345 runs, which by itself is going to be a challenge. Zimbabwe had a good start yesterday, but surviving against Rashid Khan is going to be difficult from third day onwards. If Afghanistan could get the wickets of the experienced batsmen (Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza), then the remainder of Zimbabwe batting lineup will fall like a pack of cards. Probability is that Afghanistan will win this match, but let's see what is going to happen.
1924  Economy / Economics / Re: You want to get rich, don’t pay taxes, don’t get married, don’t use bank, and... on: March 11, 2021, 12:35:16 PM
Why then do we need wealth if we are going to give up the fullness of ordinary human life for the sake of this? Many live happily even without luxury and wealth. Moreover, why save money all your life if you can't take it with you to the afterlife. Wealth is not worth it to actually give up ordinary life for his sake.
Material well-being is important, however, we come to this world to improve spiritually and this needs to be given attention.

Oh god.. another utopian dreamland reply. If you don't care about money then why can't you give up all of your wealth and live as a homeless hippy? In modern world, everything revolves around money. If you have money, then you can afford 99% of the good things in life (and for the remaining 1%, there are good alternatives available). Spirituality is good.. I agree with you. But when your loved ones fall sick, you can't pay the medical bills with spirituality. When your kids are of school-going age, you can't use spirituality to pay the tuition fee.

Anyone watching the match between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe? Afghanistan declared at 545/4, with Hashmatullah Shahidi becoming the first Afghan to score a double hundred. The captain (Asghar Stanikzai) also made a sizable contribution, by making 164. Remember that during the last match, Afghanistan made totals of 131 and 135, losing to Zimbabwe by 10 wickets (and that too, in two days).
1926  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Indian Super League (ISL) Football match updates, predictions and discussions on: March 11, 2021, 11:38:12 AM
The semi-final match was not that easy for ATK Mohun Bagan. The first leg was tied and in the second leg they won only narrowly. Although I would regard ATKMB as the favorites to win the trophy, it will be a mistake to write off Mumbai City FC. Players such as Adam le Fondre, Boumous, Jahouh.etc are in spectacular form. The same can be said about the other side, for players including Krishna and Garcia.
1927  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I quit smoking and buy Bitcoin every week on: March 11, 2021, 11:26:12 AM
That kind of taxation is present in my country too although it is mostly on cigarettes, the audacity of the tobacco companies to complain that the taxation will be bad for them when they are the one exploiting the tobacco farmers is the most stupid thing ever that made my blood boil. It never deterred smokers to buy their packs, a small percentage stopped altogether and a little bit bigger than the latter reduced the packs that they consume and there seem to be more everyday, I won't complain about taxation on vices, the problem is that the taxes that comes from it are not used properly.

I am not a smoker (never tried in my life), so I don't have anything against cigarettes getting taxed heavily. In fact I would urge the government to increase the taxes further.  Grin

Obviously most of the tax money is wasted by the government on waging wars and for paying salaries to the government employees and there is hardly anything that we could do about it. A lot of smuggling also takes place because of the high tax rates. And the issue for smokers is that the habit is very difficult to stop. So they don't have any option other than to spend a large part of their earnings on cigarettes.

There are many conflicting reports, some had adverse affect when they had the vaccine and went into comma and it is a truth that even with vaccination you will be infected but the doubt everyone in the medical fraternity is having is whether the vaccines are successful against the different strains of virus that are seeing around the world and the virus is mutating faster than expected. I am yet to get vaccination as i am not sure whether it will harm me or help me in countering the issues and the only way is taking precaution and not get infected.

Every sporting teams are careful and knows the impact and hence they are making sure they create a bubble while conducting the tournament as any positive exposure means heavy losses and even bankruptcy if the tournaments are postponed.

I think the issue occurs when the vaccine is administered to someone who is already infected with the virus. Most of the available vaccines are of the RNA or viral-vector type. They use genetic material from the COVID-19 virus, in order to initiate a response by the human immune system. For someone who is already having the virus, this can result in a lot of adverse side effects. Another issue is that the virus is rapidly mutating. Some of the strains from Brazil, UK and South Africa are having higher mortality.

The BCCI is not going to gain anything by allowing the spectators. On the other hand, it stand to lose a lot in case the players get infected.
1929  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: India to regulate Bitcoin?Good news for crypto enthusiast on: March 10, 2021, 06:30:26 PM
I was confused. They have abundant and good human resources. Maybe they are slowly changing their policy to catch up with the world as they loosen crypto regulation.
Cryptocurrency is really becoming a big industry because of its applicability in all areas. I have faith that they will promote Blockchain and cryptocurrency to thrive in this country.

India is a country where porn, gambling, weed.etc are banned. That says a lot about their progressiveness. Having a population of 1.4 billion (growing at a rate of 2%) is useless, if the government doesn't know how to make use of their skills. They need to understand that this decade belongs to cryptocurrency and blockchain. They are doing the same mistake that they did earlier, by discouraging innovation with their outdated legislations. Perhaps the government is afraid that if they legalize cryptocurrency, then they may lose their control over the general population.
1930  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 10, 2021, 06:15:25 PM
Ashwin is the first spinner for India and he has established his place in the side and if India is placing in a seaming track and if they go with only one spinner Ashwin will be the first choice spinner and he is a main bowler who is currently in form and picked over 400 wickets and he is a difficult bowler to face in any track and Ashwin showed his batting skills in the recent two series, so you cannot say that he is struggling because he was instrumental in drawing a match in Australia recently.

The only thing that may go against him is is poor record abroad (although he has improved upon it recently) and his lack of venom in surfaces that doesn't support spin bowling. Also, Washington Sundar is a much better batsman, when compared to Ashwin. But then, Ashwin has been in terrific form recently. The choice for spin bowler is going to give a lot of headache for the Indian selectors. I am OK with either Ashwin/Jadeja, Sundar/Jadeja, or Axar/Jadeja.
1931  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 10, 2021, 06:01:08 PM
If cases are increasing like this then BCCI may change the venue for sure because they are more towards conducting the IPL even in the middle of pandemic last year so they may not hold back from anything. Anyone knows about the spectators are allowed for this season or not?

There was a statement from the BCCI earlier this week:

https://www.moneycontrol.com/news/trends/sports-trends/ipl-2021-no-spectators-no-gate-revenue-this-time-too-but-experts-not-worried-about-sponsorship-deals-6623711.html

Quote
Once again, the Indian Premier League (IPL) will witness empty stadiums and there will be no crowd- cheering. The 14th edition of the IPL, too, will be played behind closed doors -- at least in the initial phase of the tournament, the IPL governing council said on March 7.

They may allow the spectators at a later stage, if the situation improves. But I don't think that it will happen. Cases are once again rising, not only in India but also around the world. Brazil is having a similar demographic, and they are witnessing huge increase in new cases. Even in India, cases are rising in some of the states. For me, it doesn't matter much. I don't really care whether the crowd is there or not. But the TV channels need to stop their automated crowd setting during the broadcast.
1932  Economy / Speculation / Re: If the FBI wallet with 141,000 bitcoins was stolen what would happen? :o on: March 10, 2021, 01:29:28 PM
Dump it to the wallet of someone you don’t like and watch them get hunted down Grin

Yeah.. as if the FBI is full of retarded people who can't track down all the transactions and understand the intention behind it. If you move your stolen coins, you will be moving them to a fresh wallet which can't be traced back to anyone. If you transfer your coins to a known wallet, then it will immediately raise red flags. In the end, not only you will lose those coins, but you will be tracked down and thrown to some dark prison cell for the remainder of your life (ask Ross Ulbricht or Blake Benthall how they're feeling right now).
1933  Economy / Economics / Re: Did tesla's $1.5 billion bitcoin purchase negatively affect their stock price on: March 10, 2021, 01:19:58 PM
This is the nature of human psychology, they are considered to complain or make some excuses when things are not going in a specified way that will please them and more this should be expected from Bitcoin haters (especially those that are not happy with Elon $1.5 Billion investment in Bitcoin).
The truth is that people are always like that but que sera sera.

Tesla's investment was unexpected. No one thought that they would take such a drastic step. Obviously some of the analysts (and banks such as JP Morgan) were very unhappy, as Telsa had gone against their advice. All sort of scare stories were spread in the immediate aftermath. And the crash in Tesla share price was like a shot in the arm for these skeptics. But I guess now most of them have crawled back to their caves.
1934  Economy / Economics / Re: Bangladesh militants use Bitcoins for laundering money to Kashmir on: March 10, 2021, 01:08:23 PM
I believe that Bitcoin trading is already banned in Bangladesh. And now with this incident, they will start cracking down on the P2P platforms as well. And since the Kashmir militants are also involved, I don't think that the Indian authorities will remain silent. They will also try to target those traders who use the P2P platforms. Still, I don't believe that this news is very accurate. It is not easy to convert Bitcoin to fiat cash in either India or Bangladesh. Most of the militant groups receive their funding in the form of "Hawala" which involves physical cash.
1935  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it safe to invest in BNB now? on: March 10, 2021, 12:04:26 PM
The question everyone asking right now is whether the Binance coin is overpriced or not. According to coinmarketcap, the current market capitalization of BNB is around $43 billion. Remember that Coinbase is going for an IPO with a valuation of $77 billion. Is Coinbase more valuable than Binance? Maybe. But not by much. Therefore I think that the current valuation of BNB is fair. Investors who want to stay with BNB for the long term can go for it, at current levels. I am sure that they will receive a good ROI within the next 3-4 years.
1936  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: John McAfee charged with fraud over cryptocurrency on: March 10, 2021, 11:54:52 AM
John talked too much and did too little, that's his problem.

Rubbish. To give an idea about what he did:

1. Murdered an individual named Gregory V Faull.
2. Tax evasion in the United States
3. Promoted known scams, resulting in losses of millions of USD
4. Indulged in threats and blackmail
5. Tarnished the image of cryptocurrency in general

I wouldn't have bothered if he was all talk and no action. But the reality is that he scammed cryptocurrency users of their hard earned money. I just hope that he will rot in prison for the rest of his miserable life.
1937  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: March 10, 2021, 11:05:55 AM
Yeah, but i remember Indians were very competitive in last tour of South Africa (England also, result not justifying the fight) and if my memory serves me well then on one occasion SA head coach moaned about pitches and how Indian bowlers tried to injure their players on dangerous surface, India went to win that game.

Don't remember NZ playing any last match there but Australia last tour was overshadowed by Sand paper gate.

South Africa is a good team, but their consistency is not up to the mark. Every now and then players become unavailable, and that impacts the stability of the team. They have world class players such as du Plessis, de Kock and Steyn. But still they have fallen behind the big 3 teams. Still, with home advantage they can be a challenging opposition even to the big 3 teams.
1938  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: March 10, 2021, 10:28:52 AM
Hyderabad, Lucknow, Himachal and Mohali are also ignored by retarded BCCI (Ignoring Mohali was right decision tho). Guess they went for limited cities due to logistics although these cities could have host some ipl matches effectively. Don't know why they opted for Mumbai.

Cases are increasing once again in India and in Mumbai the numbers are really bad. I don't know why Mumbai was selected to host the matches. The logistics is going to be problematic, considering the crowded nature of that city. On the other hand, cities such as Hyderabad, Lucknow and Dharamshala are really doing well. The BCCI did a big blunder by ignoring these centers. I guess lack of facilities may be one of the reasons.
1939  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 💰 Summer Tokyo 2020 💰 Discussion and bet thread 💰 Summer Game 💰 Postponed 21 on: March 10, 2021, 05:35:07 AM
This seems like a terrible idea to me, the Olympic Games are very expensive as the number of facilities that need to be built is very high due to the number of sports and athletes that go to compete, this is not like the soccer world cup in which if the country already has a decent league they could make do by building just one or two stadiums and modernize the rest, for what I have read most Olympic games from an economic standpoint are a loss and that is with spectators, if they are really thinking of going through without spectators I do not even want to imagine the size of their losses.

That's true. Olympic games cost billions of USD in expenses. And the countries hope for long term impact from the games, in the form of increased tourist inflows and better infrastructure facilities. However in case the foreign visitors are not allowed, then a large part of these gains will be lost. Japan is having a stagnant economy for almost two decades now, and they were hoping for a boost in the form of Olympics.
1940  Other / Politics & Society / Re: 94 year old healthy woman gets the vaccine. on: March 10, 2021, 05:18:19 AM
Don't know about the cases within the United States. But in India, a 103-year old lady got vaccinated a few days back and as per the news reports she faced no side effects:

https://www.hindustantimes.com/india-news/103yearold-kameshwari-j-becomes-india-s-oldest-woman-to-get-covid-19-vaccine-101615309198971.html

Those in their 80s and 90s are getting vaccinated all around the world and hardly any side effects are being reported. I understand that some people have an interest in spreading anti-vaccine propaganda, but there is hardly any truth in these claims of widespread adverse reaction to the medication.
