I never got a PS3 either, its always been 360. I will be playing most games on PC now, but will probably eventually get a PS4.

It just shows that capitalisms is on its final leg.
Capitalism is dying because Microsoft did something stupid and everyone decided to by a PS4 instead?

So I decided to go with Fantastic Franks and even commissioned a logo. I registered the domains, snagged the Facebook page, and started all the business paperwork. Then my wife decided it was time to have our baby. Which would be great if he wasnt three months early... So we were in the hospital a week waiting for him to be born, and since he will be in the NICU for quite some time we are making a lot of trips back and forth. During that time, a job that I did not think I was going to get called back and proved me wrong. That starts the 24th and includes being gone for 5 weeks of training. So with all of that, and me taking the GMAT in Sept. to try and get into B-School part time in the spring, I decided to hold off of the cart. I really wanted to push forward with this, but wow does shit ever change quick. I did have a few employees lined up to work for me that were willing (and can be trusted) to take on more responsibility, but why start a business when I know I wont have time for it? So as of right now I am going to see how things go the rest of the year, get settled in and stuff smoothed out, and try again ~Feb. That way it wont be a rush to build and establish but will still be ready for prime Hot Dog season. Just as a side note: not only was I albeit set for the local county fair and in discussion with the community pool, I got the local GameStop interested in contracting me for big event midnight releases.

Hey I was watching the 'fantastic franks' thread but missed the end - did he end up choosing Fantastic Franks as his business name?
Sure did. I should probably update that thread huh?

Just got my second logo done. Thank you.

I finished it and sent you the product. Waiting on my 0.5 BTC. It uses BitCoin charts rates instead of Bitpay.
As I said in the PM I need a little bit. My son was just born last night and was 3 months early. I have not even had a chance to look at any of it and am trying to catch up as quickly as I can. I will also say though, that the point of: update and display prices in BTC based on Bitpay rates is so that the display price and checkout price are as close as possible. If they are way different then this will have successfully made things worse and not better. So as I said in the PMs, please slow down.

I play (far too) often, and I admit I have had times where I was thinking WTF?!!? Between generally losing every hand and the amount of blackjacks hit by the dealer.
Then I sit back for a second and think about how fast I am playing, and how long I am playing. If I were at a casino playing at 1/4 the speed I play on bitZino, I would be broke in minutes... Since it is easy to play fast, and there are no other players, and its a program, its easy to have doubts. About the blackjacks, I have gotten at least four, and I want to say it was five, in a row at a physical table. Statistic support or not, I know its possible.

The ongoing conversation has sparked another idea inside my head, one of which I'd love to share with you.
Regardless of which name you pick, would you be so kind as to allow us to continue offering up suggestions and ideas in open-sourced fashion during the nascent stage of your endeavor and beyond?
Safely assuming you're moving forward on this, and having enough funding to see it through, all you would have to do is come back here on a regular basis giving us updates and requesting more ideas. Since it's only a hot dog stand, I'm sure others wouldn't mind offer up ideas for free to a fellow Bitcoiner.
For an example: Upgrade to a meal (chips & drink, perhaps) for free when paid with bitcoins.
Have your main bitcoin address clearly seen on the cart.
QR-Code linking to your website showing other locations where you're located, or will be attending some special event.
Market yourself as the only open-source hot dog cart in the world.
Offer free hot dogs to those offering up suggestions you use by giving them a voucher that can only be used at one of your locations, for you don't ship hot dogs. Voucher can be transferable, but I doubt if one would truly do such, for it'll be an honor to own one.
Think outside the bun, Dude! Otherwise you'll just be another hot dog delivery guy, regardless if you sell fantastic hot dogs or ones that taste like shit.
So my initial thoughts and questions are: The Hot Dog Cart is actually a low-cost market test of sorts. I need experience and want to see how everything works before moving to the next stage. And I plan on basically scaling up until I have my Cheesesteak Truck. I deleted the original post because I didnt like how the thread was moving and it had my entire menu along with a few other things, but I posted asking for advice here: http://www.roadfood.com/Forums/Food-Truck-Pitch-m740332.aspx So if this is successful, rather than opening more and more carts, I actually planned on just adding to the existing one until it turns into a truck. So even though no matter what happens, the community will always be my boss, do you mean basically the forum users decide the next directions of the business? And some of the things you mentioned I had intended doing. In fact, after the first few "shows" I was going to decide if I should get a Droid just for the cart. I might have to have employees right from the beginning, and theres no way Im not accepting Bitcoin. Plus, I want to use Square since almost no food vendors inside fairs accept Credit Cards. With employees, having a dedicated phone rather than ask them to use theirs or something would be so much easier. To market these advantages I was going to slap some big stickers on the side (Bitcoin logo and traditional CC acceptance). As for the vouchers, I think those would be albeit useless to be honest. Im in a fairly rural area, and even though I plan on operating at large fairs and such, Im not sure how useful they would be to a global audience. Then it would just be sentimental, and who is really going to cherish that? On the other hand, I do plan on having t-shirts made right off the bat, and even mentioned to my wife giving a few away to people as long as they wear them to the fair the next time they come. So, would a branded tee shipped to anywhere be a better incentive? Im def. open to discussing this more though.

I am similarly annoyed by STEAM, but its prices are so alluring I often find myself clicking "Buy" before I stopped thinking. People must have noticed this, but I know with Steam their discounts are unfairly biased against indie developers, if there are indie developers out there now I'd much rather pay them directly in Bitcoin and without any DRM whatsoever. You see it all the time, they constantly discount the indie games and then put on tiny discounts for the mainstream games, the only time I see them make a move to discount the bigger games is if there is a Christmas special and even then if it's a really popular title they know will sell like with Skyrim they'll hardly touch it. You don't ever actually own these games and you can't have them stored on your hard drive or USB stick forever, so you're basically paying full price in order to rent and people don't even bloody realise it. I don't know about the situation with consoles because I haven't bought a console since the PS2 but I'm just as suspicious of them. I imagine most of that has just as much to do with the developer as it does Steam. In order to even think about selling a digital game they have to somehow ensure that users are not going to upload it everywhere they can and give it away for free, or else publishers probably would never give them rights. Same with prices. The mainstream games are going to have much higher, and more strict royalties. I wouldnt be surprised if they had to get permission from the name brand publishers before putting their games on sale at all.

I want to start a similar business so I really hope you have great success with the venture, and thanks for the contest. The name game is always fun!
Ill try to remember to keep this thread updated. Im sure its going to be hard, but I have no doubts about it being worth it. Do you know what kind of truck your going to make? Cool I am interested to know how things work out for u so I'll watch for updates. I have a few ideas that really excite me, one of them being gourmet dogs and other fresh and fun items to throw in the mix. Would like to be less traditional but this is still in the idea phase. Fantastic Franks sounds good, mad I didn't say that haha. I have an idea for a slogan since u got the brand figured. "Catch Me If U Can, I'm The Steak & Cheese Man". A play off the gingerbread man. I do kinda like that. Might be something to incorporate into marketing down the road. Crazy to be thinking about marketing like that at a Hot Dog Cart level, but Im also trying to think ahead. How about Banger in the MouthOr if that's too suggestive... Sausage in the MouthKidding Also a penny to the person who gets the reference. I actually thought of a good one earlier: Haute DogI admit, I dont get it. But there are a ton of wiener slingers with Haute Dog in the name.

Have not heard of that happening again.

Forget the look. The features are awesome. I do however feel they're taking the Video Game Console into a different direction than where I would go with it. I don't like the whole TV guide feature as I am not going to run and wear out my console anymore than I have to.
Thats where I disconnect, what features? IE? I avoid that like a plague and only ever open it to cross check browser compatibility on my sites. If I really need to Google something (yeah Bing lost in the Bing v. Google test) while Im watching TV, I have a laptop, PC, Droid, and probably even a tablet soon. Blu-Ray, got one of those in the computer too. I just dont see ANY added benefit to the console.

Whatever you do, don't make it "Who let the dogs out" or we will find you and pummel you with ketchup packets.
Haha that is great! I would deserve it, but it fits so well at the same time. My last name starting with Who and all.

Ill post it now. I went with:
Fantastic Franks Open your mouth, we'll do the rest!
Thoughts?
Sounds sleezy but funny! Haha, the slogan is more of a joke. I probably wont be adding it, at least not at first. One of my first events I will be setup close to the petting zoo, so its def. out until the kid like functions are slowed. Names serious though.
