I find it surprising that Mercedes doesn't even try to have a German driver.
But do they have a someone great in their academy right now ? I don't know why Mercedes doesn't have a german pilot but I know for sure they can't take Mick right now as he is destined to drive at Ferrari at some point.
Regarding Stroll to Mercedes ...that is not possible anymore as Aston Marton develops around him right now so he won't leave anytime soon or anytime at all.
Regarding Mick, yes it is a good "story" for him to drive Ferrari one day, but if Mercedes wants to, they could afford to get him whenever they want to, but Mercedes became a bit more "British" then German thanks to Lewis Hamilton, British people root for that team more than Germans at this point because of him, and they do not feel that need. Look at how George Russell is getting primed to race with Hamilton after Bottas is fired, that is two British drivers all together.
I honestly think that we should take that as a sign that Mercedes do not have any interest at Mick at all. If they however actually wanted him? They could have just paid him more money and get him anyway. Stroll's dad is very rich, it is not about Aston Martin being built around him, if Daddy Stroll paid Mercedes a ton of money, he could get him in there.
Mercedes in its current form is not a completely classic factory team. Toto Wolf has his own share of shares in the team and there are also British co-owners who also have a very big influence. If earlier Daimler owned 60 percent of the team, and Wolf had 30 percent, then in December 2020, the British chemical giant INEOS increased its share in the team and now each of the parties owns 33.3 percent. And the British co-owners came to the team precisely because of the presence of Lewis Hamilton in the team and they will certainly be happy if Russell comes to the team. And Mick Schumacher should continue to strive for Ferrari in the near future, because Mercedes ' immediate plans seem to be clearly planned.

Thanks, I hadn't followed that ownership evolution, that makes sense.

Williams is a British team, now there is Aston Martin, a British car brand, McLaren is British, most teams are based in the UK...it's a bit too much in my opinion.

As for Mick, all drivers dream of a Ferrari drive, even if they can do without (like Lewis), I don't think he's entitled to one. Ferrari has a good duo right now, 2 young drivers, it could stay like that for years, unless Ferrari stays uncompetitive and one of them leaves.
yeah currently Ferrari is belleiving in their Leclerc-Sainz duo, Schumacher needs to develop little bit more and I don’t think he will do  a jump from Haas to Ferrari directly he will need to do a jump a middle class team unless he stays at Haas next year and he will probably does and somehow Haas do better next year with the new car.
Unlike this season they are embarrassing having 3s+ gap between them and leaders on not even that long of a track.
Mick have to stuck up with Haas atleast one more year and show us what he can do with a slow car.
Just like Russell he is going on his 3rd year with Williams and he has shown himself as a good driver and now he is groomed to take over Bottas spot.
The problem for Mick is that unlike Russel situation Ferrari is currently happy with the drivers they got.
So that's why he wouldn't move to Ferrari atleast for two to three more seasons it will all depend on his Performance and one of Ferrari main Drivers have been underperforming.

I also thought that Serie A would start at the same time as other leagues, although perhaps you and I just subconsciously looked at the day of the week and not at the date. What I mean is that there is no mention of the postponement of the date in the news feed. The good news is that the delayed start will give time to join the pool for those who have not seen notifications in this or last week, (I think it is worth changing the name of the thread, adding the final date of joining).
Yo did not get me properly or I was not clear enough Smiley But good think that this misunderstanding happened since you are actually right. I thought La Liga has been decided to start earlier while the truth is Serie A has been pushed to start one week later.

There is 9 of us currently in the pool. Still expect 3 people to join and hope for one or two surprise participants.

And a surprise participant have come I will be joining this pool.
Not sure about joining SerieA pool it will be time consuming doing this one alongside EPL pool.
I will think about it still got bit more time since it’s still have 10 days for it.
224  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: August 10, 2021, 09:52:16 PM
It is claimed that Roma manager Jose Mourinho is keen on signing PSG's 28-year-old striker Mauro Icardi. Because it seems like Roma striker Edin Dzeko (35) is preparing to leave the team to join Inter soon. Actually, I think that Icardi would be much more useful for Roma rather than Dzeko. I really respect Dzeko and he has been performing quite well despite his age. But he is not that good anymore I think. So, Icardi would be more beneficial.
Its like Morinho is really thinking about how best he can transform the team to be tittle contenders once again. He's been linked to many players, and will end up not signing them.Somebody like Xhaka of Arsenal,a player whom had agreed to join Roma because of Morinho, but they later switched their attention and now the player has signed a contract extension of three year deal to stay at his club.If he can make Icardi's deal to materialise,it would really help them, come next season.

We know that Mourinho's ambitions are very big when he coaches any team, as well as when he officially becomes Roma coach. Mourinho is trying
to make the Roma team a competitor to get the Serie A trophy. Therefore Mourinho made several lists of desired players, but because Roma's
transfer budget is not that big, almost all of the targets that Roma are aiming for fail to be achieved. Including Xhaka failed to be bought from
Arsenal because they did not manage to get a price agreement.  Hopefully Mauro Icardi can be successfully bought by Roma, because Roma will
likely lose Edin Dzeko, although Roma just got a striker from Genoa from Uzbekistan, namely Eldor Shomurudov. But Shomurodov's quality is still
below Icardi, if Roma do manage to buy Icardi this is a good buy for Roma.

AS Roma will have new forward Tammy Abraham and get issues Chelsea will sell his forward to AS Roma, just waiting with official announcement because Chelsea success get Lukaku from Inter Milan and they have many forward after Warner, Lukaku and Kai. I hope Tammy can be success in AS Roma and give more competitive for Juventus and AC Milan, I never choose Inter Milan as candidate to be champion because they have sell many good player right now.
Anyway, Inter still has a strong squad, I think, losing a few main players won't be a big problem because there are other players who I think can still maintain Inter's quality in the top ranks. Regarding Mauro Icardi, I only believe that any team that targets him will certainly get him considering Icardi's position may be threatened in the future, for sure if Icardi stays at PSG it looks like he will lose many opportunities to play in the first squad so if Mourinho makes an offer I think it will be a transaction which will be achieved.

Our opinion is that Inter Milan will be very difficult to compete for the title this season considering that there are so many star players who made a big contribution to them in winning the title last season. owned by Romelu Lukaku, moreover this Serie A season we can say is very tight, for example the mission of Juventus who want to return to fight for the title they failed to win last season, don't underestimate As Roma who are currently bringing in top coaches like Jose Mourinho and also players from origin. Chelsea's Tammy Abraham to deepen their squad to compete for the Scudetto title this season
Under the so-called financial crisis, the Inter may return to rock bottom again, and what was said was a project that began to fall, as if the Inter-Americans were destined to accept the situation and remain silent.
A team that regained its local prestige by assigning very strong names it wins the league and gives up its strengths ,as if Inter had modest ambitions and goals, and his utmost wish was an escudetto and only.
Do you understand why Italy is far from the Champions League Compare between Chelsea's project and their desire, and between Inter's handling and thinking.
Well, compare the City revolution and their deals, and compare Juve's policy and their dispersal.
What we mentioned gives you an idea that as far as the differences are financial, there are very clear differences in management.
225  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / The reason Paris Saint Germain Fan Token (PSG) on: August 10, 2021, 12:00:08 PM
The rise Paris Saint-Germain Fan Token (PSG) started to rise in the middle of last week following news that ex-Barcelona player Lionel Messi will nit be signing a new contract with Barcelona and the price started to surge right after the rumors started that his next destination will be the Parisian side.
The price of their token was bit above the 20$ mark a week ago now it's closing on 57$.
One of the world’s best footballers will be leaving Barcelona Football Club.
The recent news was confirmed by both Lionel Messi and the player’s now ex-club.
The price still have potential to rise more if the signing of the player confirmed and Messi gets revealed with PSG shirt.
This is no financial advice its just my speculations on the matter.

Formula One stewards on Monday rejected Aston Martin's appeal against the decision to exclude German driver Sebastian Vettel from the Hungarian Grand Prix, which caused Mercedes' British driver Lewis Hamilton to extend his championship lead by eight points.

Supervisors said after a video hearing that Aston Martin discovered a faulty fuel system that caused the problem.
By that fault they lost the amount of fuel needed to be higher then 1Liter.

They only just managed a Champions League place last season.. but this season with Lukaku, I think they should be able to open a clear gap on the teams below them and make qualifying for the Champions League a formality once again. The teams below them aren't really strengthening, and if Spurs lose Kane then that's another challenger gone. It's difficult to see beyond the two Manchester teams, Liverpool and Chelsea for the top four. I can't see where other challengers would come from.

Agreed with this, yes. Top 4 looks already defined, there really isn't a team that can break it this season. Arsenal is in total disarray, Leicester came really close 2 seasons in a row and royally screwed it up so I don't think they have it in them to make another decent challenge - especially with Vardy getting older and slower.

Tottenham would probably be able to break it if they keep Kane and sign Lautaro. However, Kane looks really unhappy and will probably get his transfer and Lautaro was supposed to be joining but that deal went a bit cold as well.

This is all really good news for Liverpool who looks ready to drop out. Luckily, there isn't really a team that will be able to fill the gap this season.

Yup.  And Chelsea and Man United have started to be looking strong the last couple of years.  So it’s going to be another City, Liverpool, Chelsea, United season again...  Not in that order but yeah.

I’ll say it again, like what I said about Chelsea having the squad to win the CL last season, I think they have the squad to win the EPL this season.
Lukaku made his medical today for Chelsea so he is one step closer to sign, after that Chelsea would be one of a hell candidate to push for EPL title this upcoming season  they lacked a proper finisher last year after Werner failed to make the impact that was expected from him.
When you see that your highest top scorer in the EPL is a central midfielder (Jorginho) with 7 goals that means you have a problem.
But now after the arrival of Lukaku things should turn on for the best especially when Lukaku spent almost all of his career in EPL so he has no time to waste getting used to the league .

As an individual I'm not sure getting 50 players is a great idea especially for wanting to win the yellow cap as Sportsbet.io give the round winner a free bet.
More players means less chances to be the best in a round despite having 38 chance to get it.
But more players join means bigger pot but also bit less chance to be placed in a payed position unless more players gets us more payed positions like if we have 30 participants we get top5 as winners.
And if we have 50 players we get like 8winners. It's something like participants/winners ratio.

The torment conference.
Farewell was not what we imagined, or as Messi even imagined it, but the streets will never be forgotten, or even cafes, restaurants and bars, a great archive in the history of football was titled Messi and Barcelona.
Messi accepted a 50% reduction in his salary, but this was not enough because Barcelona is financially and economically moribund, this is what Laporta tells us, and this is what Bartomeu's ill-fated administration left behind.
The League sets a ceiling that the salaries of any Spanish club do not exceed 70% of its revenues:
Barcelona with Messi's salary: it was up to 115% and Barcelona without Messi's salary: it will reach 95%, so Barcelona at the present time will have to reduce the salaries of many There are players and maybe more of them are given away, so even if Messi plays for Barcelona for free, it will not solve the club's problem.
Barcelona may wait for darker days, the economic distress will torment the club a lot, but there is certainly no torment for any Barcelona fan more severe than bidding farewell to the greatest player in the history of this club.
He lost the World Cup final, he lost the Copa America several times, he was exposed to difficult and embarrassing situations, but it was clear in the agony conference, that he was not ready for this moment, to leave Barcelona, like many of us.
This may be a moment of victory and joy for each opponent, especially for Real Madrid fans, but it is also a moment of respect for this great and hard competition all these years.
Messi not renewing his contract, after he was close to doing so, is the biggest offside in football history, and his departure from Barcelona was a decisive and killer goal against Barcelona that shook the entire world.

Max Verstappen is leading the list of F1 car repair costs.
That is ironic since most tge damage done to his car he was not the one to blame.

No wonder why Christian Worner wanted the driver team that caused the accident to be the covering the bill for repairs.
With about half of races left most of the drivers are on there 2nd power unit
While Vettel, Verstapppen, Russel, Sainz and Ocon they are on their last engine changing the engine one more time for them will get them a grid penalty.
That's why many see Bottas penalty for playing Bowling in Hungary track was not enough since he wrecked couple cars that some got unrepairable Power Unit.

Leicester's victory in the FA Super Cup proves once again that the stars do not decide anything. The most important thing is the team. 11 people play football. I am happy for Leicester. I am glad that there are such teams that prove that nothing is lost in football and not everything. money decides.
This is a different prestige from many existing tournaments, we can see that not all the players that City play are main players. So I think, with City not playing the main players then it can be said that the strength or level is balanced as well. It's a different story if this is a prestigious tournament where at least the favorite team plays the main players, if the result still loses then we can say money is not guaranteed. Indeed, this sometimes happens, but in this match I don't think we can compare it with money because we have to look at the composition of the players played as well.
At the start of the season in England, Guardiola lost his first title of the season and Grealish lost in his first match under Man City shirt.
The idea that no matter how strong your team is, you need a striker who can decide for you the chances you create, the idea of a fake striker is very bad and I was never convinced by it personally.
And there is something bold I want to talk about, Vardy is one of the best strikers in the world, but since two seasons for this moment he misses very easy chances and what Daka did with a few minutes he participated in will make Vardy's place in danger.
For those who do not know Daka, he is a striker that Leicester bought for 30 million euros this season, last season with Salzburg, he scored 27 goals and made 7 in 28 league matches.

Done Deal Lukaku returns to his old home, which opened the doors of stardom for him, after paying Chelsea in all Europe nearly 115 million euros to return him again to Stanford Bridge Castle.
Lukaku will sign a long-term contract with the Blues, with an annual salary of 12 million euros plus variables .
Inter will pay 7 million euros to Manchester United in selling it to another team.
Manchester United will have 40 million euros left from the value of his sale to Inter.

About Stroll at Mercedes, I doubt it, but then again I don't see Stroll as a real F1 driver, just another rich kid who got there thanks to his money. His father buying a whole team even for it !
It's true that Stroll father have a good relationship with Toto Wolf but I don't think it will be enough.
Hamilton wants a wingman that doesn't bother him or compete with him over World Championship and Stroll want the Mercedes seat so he can win.
So Bottas and Russell swapping seats makes sense, except Bottas has been a great teammate to Hamilton.
At the same time you can't rule out Lando if Mercedes manage to snatch him from Mclaren it will be great way to secure their future.
Just Imagine  having Norris & Russell team? They'd be securing good drivers for years.

Paris Saint-Germain is the only club that can afford Messi salary this summer and It is expected that Paris Saint-Germain will announce the signing of Messi within the next few days. The offer will be a 3years contract so with them currently the only team capable of doing that it means according to the Italian newspaper "Toto Sport",
Ronaldo's staying at Juventus is almost certain, after Argentine Lionel Messi approached Paris Saint-Germain.
After the controversy that arose over Ronaldo's future between his departure and his move to Paris Saint-Germain, or the completion of his contract with Juventus until the summer of 2022.

Now after Man City signed with Jack Grealish he will bring more effectiveness in the last third and creates a lot of chances.
Guardiola gets more creativity and opportunities to create opportunities in his squad, but he is still waiting for the striker who turns these opportunities into goals!
If they get Kane the competition over winning the EPL would end before even it gets started.
With that solid defense and even better midfield a clinical striker is where Pep squad lacks.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 06, 2021, 07:43:41 PM
Ok, that was fast. Messi to PSG, 2-year contract, to be completed during the weekend. Apparently, all the players are excited - I think Di Maria might not be that much though Grin

PSG now looks really good across the whole team, they strengthened a lot during this transfer window. On paper, with City, they are the biggest favorites to win the CL next season.

They will be amazing to watch, it's a shame that the league itself is really weak so we'll only have a few CL games to look forward to.
Chelsea are also interested in Messi as Roman Abramovich, owner of Chelsea, seeks to conclude a major deal for the Blues in the current Mercato.
According to the Italian network, Sport Mediaset, Abramovich requested an urgent meeting with representatives of Argentine star Lionel Messi to verify the possibility of concluding the deal this summer.
The Italian network indicated that the Belgian, Romelu Lukaku, the Inter striker, is still the first choice in Mercato Chelsea so far.
Its explained that Chelsea's attempts to include Lukaku, and before him, Erling Haaland from Dortmund, is a clear indication that the Blues have financial liquidity, and are trying to conclude a major deal this summer.
238  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 06, 2021, 03:10:47 PM
The news of Leo Messi's divorce with Barcelona has clearly not left indifferent those clubs that could potentially sign the Argentine already in the coming weeks: among them of course as you all mention, Paris Saint-Germain (forget about Juventus, please that's a joke).
On the eve of the challenge against Troyes, Mauricio Pochettino, PSG coach, responded in a press conference to questions related to Messi and he said they know what happened yesterday between Messi and Barça, but they're completely focused on Troyes.
That's a very polite way to say that they're interested and they're gonna sign Messi!
Bye Bye Mbappe?

With the increasing news of the start of Paris Saint-Germain's move, many reports confirm that Paris is confident of its ability to all Mbappe, Neymar and Messi without financial problems.
Pochettino confirmed this a while ago.
But is it possible to combine them technically in one team??
I find it difficult for them to ducceed with this number of talents, and a reminder of the era of the Galacticos in Real Madrid, these expected stars did not achieve titles, normal results and frequent exit from the Champions League, while Real Madrid won the Champions League with less star players.
The presence of talent in the team enhances performance, but there is a so-called “talent increase effect”, the performance of any team is directly proportional to the number of talents in it until this number reaches a certain limit, after which the issue becomes reverse and performance declines with the number of talents exceeding the limit according to the study as having many talents will create some problems in the changing room for PSG that Pochettino will find it difficult to handle.
239  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2020/21 on: August 05, 2021, 08:32:17 PM
I just read that too, from what I understood Barcelona wants Messi to stay and he also wants to stay there but signing the deal is impossible to do due to the financial fair play? We already talked about that and said that Barca needs to get ride of many players and Griezmann preferably too in order to sign Messi! and what about Aguero and the rest? They will sacrifice Messi and sign the others?? It is weird, losing a legend for free Lips sealed
Some say it's not over yet for Barcelona as LaLiga is on their way down losing one more pillars would not serve them well that's why some observers believe that this announcement from Barcelona may constitute a major deception for the Spanish League.
They believe that the departure of the best player in the world from the Spanish League due to the restrictions imposed by the Spanish League may push the League to go easy on the rules of Financial Fair Play to allow him to stay. If this is the case, it is a bold step, especially since Javier Tebas, the president of the association, has repeatedly criticized the financial situation of the club, and stressed a lot about Barcelona's need to reduce salaries by large percentages to keep Messi.

What Grealish agreed to leave Aston villa for Manchester City  Cry Indeed its true that everyone has a price, By the way Villa park won't be the same without him for the few seasons.
With this move I feel Aston villa could also have set themselves for relegation because no one will manage to inspire the team like he did!

I don't think so. Grealish was good and the most hard working in Villa camp but this transfer window Villa is the most active premier club. They have signed Buendia who is a a great midfield player , just recently they signed Leon Bailey as well who is a great winger with pace as we saw in last Bundesliga season.  They also signed Danny Ings who is the a very experienced striker and have been scoring goals in double digits. So I think they are rebuilding the team in a very good way. Obviously losing Grealish would give a dent but I don't think it is that much of a deal. They will still be more deadly underdogs as compared to last season.
Jack Grealish is one of the best English players on the scene, this is undisputed, but selling him for 100 million pounds is a huge blow and indeed it is greatly exaggerated and in my opinion not worth all that money.
Aston Villa managed to sign three players, Emiliano Buendia, Danny Ings and Leon Bailly, three deals of a very respectable caliber for an amount not exceeding 90 million pounds, so it is indeed an exceptional work from the Villa management.
It will be a legitimate dream season for Villa Park fans. They look in much better then Arsenal despite loosing their captain.
