The most interesting match in this group is going to be England vs Scotland. There is too much bad blood between the two countries and they are facing each other after a gap of 4 years (back in 2017, the world cup qualifier match between the two ended in a 2-2 draw, with Harry Kane equalizing for England in the last minute of injury time). It would be great to have a win by Scotland this time, although I know that it is unrealistic given the current form of the England team. Anyway, I have already marked my calendar for this match on 18th June (this Friday).
It's a difficult one for England, because it's a local rival. You would normally expect a team like England to beat a team like Scotland fairly easily... but with such a fierce rivalry between the two nations, anything can happen. I looked at the statistics after the game and what is amazing is that they are basically very balanced. But if you watched the game, you had the feeling that England dominated the game. Croatia didn't have a really good chance either, while England had several good ones. If you hadn't seen the game, you could draw the wrong conclusions, because you would think the game was very close and England would have won happily. This is how statistics can be deceiving. The first victory in its opening matches in history came at Wembley, the stadium that English fans wish to crown their country's national team on its simplicity and in front of their eyes.. But I'm still not convinced that Luke Shaw and Grealish are missing from the starting lineup, whatever the reasons. I think that Croatia exaggerated in defense and when they conceded the goal its offensive problems appeared, even though it theoretically they have one of the best midfield lines in the tournament. |

What I can say about Belgium - Russia game - Belgium win @2.1 and over 2.5 goals @2.15 was absolute bargain. I'm not sure why bookmakers underrated Belgium so much, but even without some players they're miles better than Russia. Though, I didn't had big expecations about Russia, but they were much worse than I expected. Belgium players didn't force themselves after 2-0, that third goal was a bonus. Over 2.5 goals bet was a lucky one, it could've finished 2-0, there wouldn't be any difference. Belgium win odd on the other hand is a sure bargain, why would they give so high odds for one of the favorites of the tournament? The way Roberto Martinez managed to match today is very great, winning by 3 goals and with the least effort possible against a fierce opponent and very difficult physically, like the Russian national team and on Russian soil without KDB and Witsel and Hazard's lack of fitness. Personally, I have love and respect A great for a very great coach like Roberto Martinez, according to everyone's testimony. The team currently has very good elements, an excellent system and a coach. I hope they go far in the championship and they deserve this sympathy for what they provided for the past seasons. |

Denmark vs Finland ended 0-1, and not a single person in the pool predicted Finland to win. Stuff happens  At least I get more time to hopefully close the gap between my 1pts and the top bracket's 4-4.5pts. C'mon Belgium shut out Russia! A real bad start for me I have mistakenly put Italy to lose against Turkey yesterday 2-1 instead of them winning and Lukaku late goal made correct prediction fall. And no one predicted Finland to win because its their first ever major competition they participate in. Denmark almost losing Eriksen for good didn't help, the moral of players have been touched I hope we will get to see Eriksen back in the pitch soon after those horrifying couple of minutes. |

Seems like Barcelona won't lose only Wijnaldum. They were supposed to be anouncing Depay in the next few days but that has been cancelled as well.

Well deserved Italy win. Maybe quality of game wasn't best, but I think it's normal for opening game, players may be nervous before it. But Italy were much better, Turkey 0 shots on target says a lot about the game. My bold prediction that Turkey will finnish last in group.
In the opening Italy won because it deserved and attacked and advanced and thought of consolidating progress and was not satisfied with just a goal. Turkey defended so much that it was no longer able to get out after receiving the goal and when it tried to leave spaces and made mistakes it was punished with two goals I expected more from them on the offensive side but there was no actual threat to Donnarumma had nothing to do in the game. This price will not make Pep waver and will keep signing him, because after all Pep has 2 targets to sign Grealish and Kane at least these two players are the main targets in the transfer market this summer. I understand that some players have loyalty to their clubs and that is why they keep signing back there and eventually gets sold or retires there without becoming free agents but if Aston Villa insists on way too high price, eventually Jack may want to just tell other clubs "wait until my contract is over and I will come for free" and can get as much as 3x salary somewhere else if he is free agent. So, I believe right now Kane is a bigger target for Spurs, considering they just let go their best striker for nearly a decade, they will want to get someone good and Kane would be insanely good for City, it would really change the whole club to a new level and they are already at the top, think how great that would be for them. If Grealish pressure his team a bit more I think they can go for a lower offer.
