It's so funny to think that people who don't have knowledge about bitcoin automatically thinks that bitcoin is a scam because of the issues regarding bitcoin scamming. So yeah. Most people don't understand Bitcoin and the technology Bitcoin brings, they only hear Bitcoin information from anti-Bitcoin news or advertisements. it's true that when they know that Bitcoin is a profitable investment. They will be interested and they will ask you to teach them, even though they are not interested. Most people think that when you invest, you get and generate and produce, they don't know that there are still risks, that's why when they invest and lose money, they will say that Bitcoin is a scam. |

Hi, I recently started to invest some amount in altcoins along with my existing Bitcoin investments and the very first thing I realised that tracking the multiple investments was the problem as I rarely buy more than one alt-coin from the single exchange.
I recently came across this portfolio management site and I am impressed with it. How many of you are already using Cryptocompare for tracking your investment portfolio?
They have some additional interesting features like (maintaining sales, risk analysis, advanced chart, accounting etc) and they are going to turn it into paid subscriptions in the coming period.
I am mainly looking to track my long term cold storage investments so I don't think I would need those features as of now or at least in next 2-3 years.
Do you know any better alternative? Please let me know.
I use Google spreadsheet on my PC to track all my crypto currencies with the date I bought, the price and the price now. But it's a little troublesome because the input is manual but it's okay. Whereas on my android phone, I use the google app service called blockfolio and so far it's good for tracking my crypto. |

Most people believe that the price of altcoins' is determined by the price of bitcoin and that they tend to follow it's market movements.
I partially disagree with this. I have studied prices of coins and tokens on CMC and the fluctuations of each currency seems to be unique and independent of any other digital currency. Some show strong pumps when BTC goes down and some heavy dumps when BTC is rising.
Undoubtedly, there are market forces and factors which affects most currencies, this is not influenced by bitcoins price, it rather controls bitcoins' price as well as others.
So when trading or investing, make sure you treat each currency differently as they have different utilities.
Yes, I agree with you that the price of altcoin is not determined by the price of bitcoin because they have a different development team but the price fluctuations of Bitcoin have a big impact on the altcoin, not only because it is the main currency for most Altcoins but also because it's the backbone of the whole cryptocurrency world, every news that the effect of Bitcoin whether it is good or bad will affect the altcoin. |

I think altcoin investors are wise investors, even though bitcoin investors want more than altcoin because they consider prices. Bitcoin was created to provide independence from Government control to the users. But I think it is not so independent.
It depends on fiat currency especially the Dollar for it's valuation.
My question is ; we are measuring it's value in dollars. So is not it true that Bitcoin is dependent on fiat currency for it's existence?

Blockchain technology itself is independent because it is decentralized so for me Bitcoin is independent only requires adoption. People invest large amounts of fiat money into Bitcoin just to have what we call financial freedom that fiat never gives us. |
