41  Economy / Economics / Re: Will crypto solve socioeconomic problems? on: September 06, 2018, 03:45:08 AM
Socio-economic problems have deep roots, and using one currency rather than another makes no difference.
Eventually, the bitcoin is less controllable, so it will probably create MORE problems, not less.

Controlling the finances of people is not the way to solve socio-economic problems. You seem to think you live in a socialist utopia. Bitcoin will liberate people and help them come out of the government rut. Think about Venezuela- do cryptocurrencies help the people there or cause problems?
42  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-09-02]Venezuela’s Cryptocurrency Petro Has No Users, No Investors and No O on: September 06, 2018, 03:23:09 AM
Why would anybody trust a currency issued by the Venezuela government, crypto or other wise? The fact that this is supposed to be backed by oil assets doesn’t help  - who is going to enforce this security? This experiment was destined to fail from the very start.
43  Economy / Speculation / Re: India just BANNED Bitcoin? Will BTC now crash? on: September 05, 2018, 04:40:05 AM
I think those manifestations happening with bitcoin against india of whatsoever countries who seemingly banned bitcoin was just a tactics from other bitcoin haters, and probably haters of cryptocurrency. No such reposts or any legit article who can support this information yet, so don't easily carried aways on this matter and most importantly be brave enough.

These may not be tactics from Bitcoin haters. Such reports might be hyperbole, but if you do go to mainstream publications, there is a kernel of truth behind it. In India's case, the exchanges have lost their banking relationships and pretty much shut down or converted into crypto-only exchanges. While India has not explicitly banned Bitcoin, all trading activity has come to a grinding halt.
44  Economy / Economics / Re: Governments Call on Tech Giants to Build Encryption Backdoors -- Or Else on: September 05, 2018, 04:32:50 AM
I'm not certain if crypto currencies will be affected by these political agendas aimed at weakening encryption standards. If financial institutions have been targeted by this political movement, its not something that has been publicized much.

There is no question of encryption backdoors for financial institutions. Government can walk in through the front door and grab any data they want, by the truckloads, from financial institutions. Financial institutions will even slice and dice the data, sift through it for anything which might interest the government and give it to them on a platter, as a BAU process.
45  Economy / Speculation / Re: ARE WE REALLY SEEING BULL RUN OR TRAP IN BTC MOVE on: September 04, 2018, 04:29:40 AM
Bitcoin since touched $5800-6000 area has not really clear to many if we are in bull market or it just a mere run to make noobs or newbies FOMO, and looking at it TA which shows it has not been on same lane even with FA but many says it's manipulation and crossing $5800 area below has been a major support but many think it should break it, so am wondering if we are getting close to bull market or we are just in swing market for now.

We have crossed $7000 as well in a matter of a week. You should stop wondering whether it is a bull trap or the start of a rally. If you want to make money by trading, then these might present good opportunities. But the bigger picture is what do you think is the long-term trend in Bitcoin. Think of the appreciation over a 2 year period.
46  Economy / Economics / Re: [Discussion] Why Cryptocurrencies and blockchain needs to go mainstream ASAP on: September 04, 2018, 04:09:04 AM
Creditcards are currently using technology which is more than 5 decades old. It was not built keeping the internet in mind. Chargebacks and disputes are ways to protect buyers, but they can wreak havoc when you are a seller and you are a victim of fraud. Blockchain based payments can definitely help, but think of a buyer who has been defrauded - he will have almost no recourse.
47  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-09-03] Tom Lee: Bitcoin to Hit $20k in 2018 Despite Struggle of Emerging M on: September 04, 2018, 03:46:48 AM
@figmentofmyass. I had the same opinion as yours when the market was in full bear power hehe. But if the bulls come back, I reckon Tom Lee's prediction still has a chance like it did last year when bitcoin went from $6000 or $7000 to $20,000 in 1 month.

There is a chance, but it is highly, highly unlikely that we will again see $20k this year. There will be heavy resistance when the price crosses $10k. There are a lot of bagholders, who got in during the rally last year and are just waiting to sell. We will have to take out all that supply before the bull rally begins again.
48  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: September 02, 2018, 05:10:47 PM
We will see Arsenal taking on Cardiff today, In the past, I would usually have a lot of confidence to place my bet on Arsenal to win the match in full time against Cardiff, but it seems that the new manager Unai Emery still have not been able to find a suitable formation that suits the Arsenal players yet, the defense of Arsenal is still having a lot of weakness for their opponents to exploit, and Cardiff would definitely be hoping to get some points from this match today.

Arsenal managed to win against Cardiff, with a final scoreline of 3-2. With the halftime score of 1-1, they would be relieved to get 3 full points. Each time Arsenal took the lead, Cardiff managed to equalize, until  the winner in the last 10 minutes. The fact that this is Arsenal's first away season would also help them be relieved.
49  Economy / Speculation / Re: Impact of the pending ETF in September? on: September 02, 2018, 04:17:48 PM
I think it is time people stop trying to see a (highly improbable) ETF approval as the driver of a bull rally. If Bitcoin has to succeed, it is better if the price rises without these crutches. The ETF would make it easier for people to invest in Bitcoin, but I would be happier if they took the effort to learn about Bitcoin and actually invested in it.
50  Economy / Economics / Re: Central Bank of Crypto-Currency on: September 02, 2018, 03:24:10 PM
Creating a Central Bank of Crypto-currency may no longer sound ridiculous as we are now having a number of countries coming up with some sort of mass application of the technology, the latest is from India, which reportedly ban cryptos, but recent report states that they are considering having a Bank of crypto, Ruppies-backed, Central bank digital currencies CDDC.
Are these really positive news for the crypto-market?

https://cointelegraph.com/news/reserve-bank-of-india-confirms-it-is-looking-into-making-a-central-bank-digital-currency

All these efforts will come to nought. People forget why Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies became successful in the first place - because of the failures of central banks across the world to manage monetary policy. So a central bank managed cryptocurrency has no chance of succeeding - they will have the same problems as traditional fiat currencies.
51  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: September 01, 2018, 05:54:27 PM
Chelsea managed to get their full 3 points against Bournemouth. Chelsea have now 4 wins from 4 matches, but had to struggle for this one. It was a good defensive performance by Bournemouth. For 70 minutes, the scores read 0-0, before Pedro managed to score. The final score of 2-0 doesn't fully reflect Chelsea's struggles.
52  Economy / Economics / Re: Weak Hands lose money, strong hands makes profits in this game! on: September 01, 2018, 05:10:35 PM
It is important to choose the strategy that is right for you, correlates with your features. And then weak hands can become strong
I bought coins at the end of winter and planned to keep them long! But I did not expect the bearish trend to be so long. A little more and I will also be called weak hands ((

If you planned to keep them long, then you have no urgent requirement for money that force you to sell your coins. You can afford to hold them for much longer. It might be wiser not to book losses now, and hold for some time. It doesn't matter how long the bear market lasts, if you really believe in the future of Bitcoin.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a disadvantage in the publicity of cryptocurrency? on: September 01, 2018, 03:24:39 PM
A lot of hype but not a lot of adoption. The biggest problem with cryptoocurrencies is the fact that most of it is not mainstream. Even Bitcoin being the largest and oldest cryptocurrency is still unheard of y most of the population. Other coins are much much worse.

Bitcoin might have been unheard of a few years ago, but the bull rally of 2017 ensured that people in most parts of the world have heard about it, even if what they have are mainly misconceptions. I would see this as a positive - when all these people hear about Bitcoin and adopt it, the price will explode. Publicity can help in this regard.
54  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit 20k again on: September 01, 2018, 02:57:52 PM
Of course bitcoin will hit 20k again.  Adoption is only going to increase while mining rewards will get lower overtime.  Personally, I think btc will be back up to 20k levels at the end of 2018 or in early 2019.

For the people that bought over 10k, all you have to do is be patient and hold.  Professional investors have the ability to think long term and not chase short term gains.

That is pretty optimistic. You are pretty much expecting the price to double in a matter of a few months - given that we are in September 2018. I do not see the recovery to be that quick. I am prepared to hold for the next 2-3 years before I decide to take a call. It is only when all the get-rich-quick-investors get fed up and leave will we see a fair value of Bitcoin.
55  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-27] Iran Expected to Lift Cryptocurrency Ban in September on: September 01, 2018, 01:44:01 PM
Iran would be better of by allowing cryptocurrencies. With Trump pulling out of the accord with Iran and threatening companies which do business with Iran, cryptocurrencies provide a way out. Iran would only be shooting itself in its foot by banning cryptocurrency transactions. It has bigger worries than a few of its people using bitcoins to launder money.
56  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-28] BTC Price Approaches $7,000, Tom Lee Predicts Explosive End Of Year on: August 28, 2018, 05:59:44 PM
All it takes is some uptick before people start predicting an explosion in the price. $7000 is not even the highest price we have achieved this month- people forget that we were well above these levels at the start of the month. We need some real positive news before a bull rally starts.
57  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-08-27] India’s Central Bank Forms New Crypto, Blockchain Research Unit on: August 27, 2018, 10:59:55 AM
The central bank does not have to put too much effort into researching emerging technologies, if all they are going to do is block them. By cutting off banking links to crypto exchanges, the RBI has pretty much managed to shut them down.
58  Economy / Speculation / Re: The falling can't be real on: August 27, 2018, 10:16:05 AM
it looks like it's happened you can see bitcoin prices have fallen again, a lot of that hate bitcoin and destroy the price of bitcoin so that prices fall back.
But for me this down is like always only for some time, after that it will be like always and market will be recovering slowly and prices will be going up and up to the top.

Stop holding your breath and waiting for a bull rally to start immediately. The previous time that Bitcoin crashed, it took around 4 years for Bitcoin to regain its highs. It is difficult to time the market, so hold your coins and sit tight.
59  Economy / Economics / Re: Newbies panic & Old timers smile, when the Bitcoin price take a dip. on: August 27, 2018, 09:59:50 AM
yes, that's very helpful. and that will bring two benefits to beginners.
first they will get the information they need, the second they can also benefit from it.

The beginners might be told not to worry about the price drop, but it is not easy to heed the advice and relax. Experiencing the wild swings of Bitcoin is one thing, being told about it is another. Only if you have experienced the rollercoaster ride, you will have the patience to wait out this bear rally.
60  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: August 26, 2018, 09:40:29 PM
I thought Chelsea were lucky, their first goal wasn’t a penalty & their 2nd was crap defending & an own goal. As a Liverpool fan they do not concern me. City are the favourites & the team to beat.

This match seemed to be heading for a goalless draw when Chelsea got a penalty and Eden Hazard converted it. Newcastle managed to equalize minutes later, which would have led to Chelsea fans getting worked up again. Chelsea had most of the possession but they could not really do much with it. When you win due to a penalty and an own goal, you should consider yourself lucky.
