Optiminer HOdl pool officially launched!  Smiley

Grab a copy of the optimized hodlminer and point it to: -o stratum+tcp://hodl.optiminer.pl:5555 -u HODLADDR -p x

Pool Info
- Dashboard: http://hodl.optiminer.pl
- PPLNS
- 1% fee
- 25 blocks confirmation required
- stratum only
- locked payout ("hodlout") when your balance reaches 50 hodls

Fixed during testing phase:
- Invalid balance after server restart.
- Improved dashboards.

There are still many improvements to the dashboard that I would like to make but I think it is working good enough to work with it already.

Please stop mining to the old address, I will shut down that possibility in the next days.

I will provide more detailed instructions once the pool is fully operating. I hope some dev can provide a binary of the miner for windows until then.

The miner only works with pools, it has never done so mining directly against hodlcoind. Probably because of the modifications to getblocktemplate that were needed for hodl from the original bitcoin daemon.

@optiminer

impressive, my linux laptop went from ~40H/s to 118H/s (i3-4005U) in benchmark mode

nice work

br

Thanks!

Programming at the mining pool has made good progress. Everything should work now. It still needs some testing, though.

If you do not mind potentially loosing some shares and want to help testing you can point the wolf-miner at
./hodlminer -o stratum+tcp://[2a02:168:5829:0:76d0:2bff:fe92:d5da]:5555 -p x -u YOUR_HODL_ADDRESS
And see stats on http://[2a02:168:5829:0:76d0:2bff:fe92:d5da]:8080/

Currently IPV6 only as it runs on my home machine. I will move it to a proper server once it is ready.

I plan to open a new mining pool next week that mines blocks to the miner address directly once they accumulated 50 hodls.

I will also publish the source code of a modified wolf-miner that increases hash rate by >100% for CPUs with AES and AVX2.

Let's keep the coin alive!  Cheesy

Any progress? Fascinated to see if you can get these performance improvements. I'd like to integrate the code into the wallet miner if possible.

I pushed the source to github: https://github.com/Optiminer/hodlminer-wolf
It contains SHA512 for both AVX and AVX2 but chooses one or the other at compile time. Ideally, it would detect at runtime which is supported and use the corresponding one.

I get about 370 hash/s on my core i7-4770S.

That's a bold claim for a newbie user.
Let's see but be careful with troyans.

Sure, do not run random binaries from strangers on machines you care. I will just publish the modified source on github, then you can build your own binaries from it or take one built from your favorite trusted dev.

The proposal to fork again to fund development from generated HOdl funds is ridiculous:
1 hodl is currently around 0.5cents, with a total market cap of 66k$. At 2.5 hodl per block and 600 blocks/day this means a full blasting 3$/day for funding. What do you want to fund with 3$/day? And then, as you say these funds cannot be HOdled for 1 year as the mined blocks, this means you want to dump them immediately. This will put even more pressure on the HOdl price. Wasn't that exactly what the miner hard fork was supposed to prevent?

What HOdl needs instead is people that believe in the coin and do volunteering work. Everybody that has a stash in hodl should be more than incentivized to help. If funding is needed, it should come from donations if from anywhere. I will look into setting up a new mining pool. The idea would be that miners get paid out once they have accumulated >50 HOdl. The next block would always be mined to the miner with the highest balance (assuming it is >50). Like this, the HOdl can be transferred to the miners even though they will be locked for 1 year.
