I am wondering if there are coins that are independent to the Bitcoin price? Like, if Bitcoin's value increases, the altcoin will not increase at the same time Bitcoin does. Or maybe, I am wrong that the price of Bitcoin doesn't have any effect to the value of altcoins? Please enlighten me with this topic. If there's any coins that are independent, what are the benefits that you can get in investing to that altcoin that you can't get in investing in Bitcoin?
From the fundamentals, a lot of altcoins should have a price pattern that is independent from the Bitcoin's price, since a lot of them have different tech and consensus algorithm. However, from technical analysis, it's possible to see that most altcoins have a similar response to variations in the Bitcoin's price. If you don't know the tech behind these alts, it's better to hold Bitcoin, since there is a high risk that you can get burned by dumping it. |

Your first sentence reveals the level of pessimism that you have. And you probably don't know the properties that make Bitcoin better than any other cryptocurrency out there.
You mention the insane gains that these alts could have brought to you as a reason to be pessimistic about Bitcoin. But the truth is that it shows how undervalued Bitcoin is, since it followed the same level of growth of altcoins that doesn't have any legit use case.

Gold in general is no better. The value of gold is nothing more than a result of a global consensus - at the moment everyone agrees to consider gold a measure of value, simply because this measure is in some form or another necessary. If we assume a utopian situation, that tomorrow everyone agrees that gold is not such a measure, then it will be good only for the production of quality wires and trinkets.
The btc is gaining momentum for exactly the same reason - the global consensus towards the btc is constantly being strengthened. In this case, unlike gold, the cue-ball is not only a measure of value, but also a settlement system, and gold is not a competitor for this parameter.
Bitcoin is already a better store of value and medium of exchange, for the many reasons that people talked about here. However, I don't think it will replace gold, because gold has also other applications, in industries that are outside the financial sector. |

If you understand Proof-of-Work, you'll see that this is a good way to describe Bitcoin.
Just like with gold, anyone can buy a miner to start digging for it. And it has a property that, IMO, is very important for a currency, which is a fixed limit in the supply. You could go beyond, and say that with Bitcoin you can do much more than with gold, since you can send it over the internet without having to rely on third parties.

I'm not buying bitcoin becuase it's very expencive and risky. I am not ready to start investing in btc.
I agree regarding the risks. However, I see no good reason to say that Bitcoin is expensive, especially when you compare Bitcoin's marketcap with the marketcap of other assets. For short term profits, it may not be a good idea to invest in it. But for long term performance, it will be really difficult to find an asset with more potential than Bitcoin. |

it was predicted that bitcoin prices would fall in the last week of 2017 and rise in the first week of 2018 but none of that has happent rather the price has beet pretty stable around 13500 usd.

I don't know who said you that Bitcoin would rise at the beginning of 2018, but that person did not do a good analysis. It had almost 10x growth last year, and a correction would be inevitable. However, I don't think Bitcoin will keep falling for the rest of the year. The recent advancements in Lightning Network are a sign that a lot of good things can happen. |

Technically we are in cashless society in some way, usage of plactic card is all day need for almost everywhere, not to mentioned that everyday we see many transfers from one country to another. So this problems is mainly solved. For bitcoin to be virtual currency this could be great idea. He has everything settled and running no need to be in some preparation, maybe that why they dont like it, cuz they can control it, i mean on governments. Well, actually there is a problem being created, because there is something called "fractional-reserve banking", which allows banks to create money out of thin air. This has been happening for a long time, and that means that most of the money that banks say their customers own does not actually exist in their safes. Now think about it... imagine when someday a large number of people decide to cash out their money from the banks and they see there is nothing there. It will be a chaos. |

Yes,the OP definitely mean is it too late to buy or invest into bitcoin when the price is at the $4000-4500 range. But one thing I study concern the price movement is that the price per bitcoin usually dump by $200 or more when it weekend and my advice to those who really want to make some $$ through bitcoin is to buy or make some invest when it weekend before the market open for the business day. Well, it's like they say, you buy the dip. However, if you have a lot of money to invest, and are willing to wait a few years to see the return on your investment, for me Bitcoin is still a great investment, even being a little over $ 4000. |
