81  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 07, 2013, 10:58:35 AM
Just so you know, my day1 order status changed from "in progress" to "shipped" even though it's a local pickup and I didn't received any email informing me that my units were ready for pickup. My heart skipped a beat when I saw it. Turns out that misleading "shipped" status only means they are out of the factory and I should expect to pick them up soon.
82  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 02, 2013, 10:31:51 AM
It's not exactly wishful thinking or day dreaming since Sam said on the launch video "shipping today", maybe it's naive to believe him but people are expecting their units today based on what he explicitly said.

BTW I hope they hire someone with more packing skills than the guy on oramas video, otherwise we are screwed  Cheesy

We will contact you per email as soon as your order is ready with the details for pickup.

Starting the production lines did not go as smoothly as they did expect.

meeeh, I don't think that they will start shipping todat.(

It doesn't look like they will ship this week at all. AFAIK they are still working on debugging (+25% hardware error, right?), webinterface, etc. - as soon as they have gone through these processes they should implement everything on hundreds (if not thousands) of machines, pack them up, etc. People in here daydream and think that you can take the very first version of a bleeding edge piece of hardware directly from the production line, pack it up and send it up to thousands of customers in just one day, without any kind of testing/debugging. Wishful thinking and day dreaming all over this forum...

AVALON seems to be releasing GEN2 (add that to hashfast, ActiveMining, Bitmine.ch, Cointerra etc...) do you think my % increase in my calculations was optimistic?

These are my numbers for a Jupiter assuming 550GH, no pool fees and 100% uptime. Also original investment of 66BTC PSU+VAT+Shipping (might be less for some), for the next 13 difficulty adjustments (~6 months), assuming you start hashing in 2 days.
In my Spanish excel "," equals "." and dates are in this format "day/month/year"
The % increase per difficulty adjustments I obviously pulled out of my ass, but I think they are consistent with the "several thousand" machines that KNC claim to have already sold, the 500TH friedcat announced for October and bitfurys. I think Hashrate will climb fast to around 3PH and then % increases will slow down, notice how by the beginning of next year we will be aroud 7PH which I think is very plausible.
The break even line is original investment+operating costs.

It looks tight.

86  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNCMiner REfusing refunds on: September 29, 2013, 09:29:10 AM
A week or two from now still falls in the -before 15th of October- delivery time frame so depending on your order number it's not necessarily a delay.
Do you have a day1 or day2 order? if not, when did you order?

oh and they told me a week or 2 on the phone. so get ready most purchasers are fucked on September

87  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 26, 2013, 12:14:54 PM
I'm a day1 customer and I was able to change from shipping to local pickup, I requested it on Monday (23rd).

The shipping addresses have been forwarded to UPS and registered in the system for shipping. Therefore, any changes of orders cannot be accepted.

so we (1/2 day) can't ask for refund?
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 24, 2013, 03:19:58 PM

So yeah, 6 days effectively to produce and send the first 700+ units.

Wrong. Effective days of production begin only AFTER receiving the chips!, they have posted a video of a circuit board without chips because they obviously don't have them yet, rest assured the moment they have them in Sweden you'll see pics/videos.
89  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: September 24, 2013, 02:43:50 PM
So, 6 days to go (weekend in between) ~150mill difficulty in less than 2 days and not single chip tested on a real unit, hell not even a pic of a packaged chip and at least 890 orders (day1+day2 many of several units) to fulfill... Saying this is tight is a huge understament.

I'm a day 1 customer and I do have respect for them, but in my book in terms of schedule this isn't overdelivering by any means. Even if they are able to give tracking numbers by next monday (which is what I think will happen so they can claim the kept their promise).

139 for both, the country is Spain. Order number 15X. Paid the 4th of June.

139 btc per unit?
93  Local / Mercadillo / [VENDO] 2 KnC Jupiters DAY 1 (1TH de potencia combinada) on: September 18, 2013, 09:17:55 AM

94  Economy / Auctions / [WTS] 2 KnC Jupiters DAY 1 orders (around 1TH combined speed) on: September 18, 2013, 08:49:57 AM
I'm considering selling my two units. I paid with Swedish VAT and shipping around 139BTC, so obviously I won't be interested in offers bellow that price point since I can just ask knc for a full refund.

This is a DAY 1 order, meaning they will be shipped the very first day of production, before the end of September (probably next week) chips are being packaged right now.

The units are expected to run faster than 400GH by a "significant margin" as mentioned by Sam, one of their engineers mentioned 500GH in their forums. And they need a 850W PSU each.

The units will ship to my country (EU) but I can arrange for local pickup in Sweden so you can pick them up there or I could try to change the shipping address (although I don't think they allow to change it to a different country/name) I also can probably arrange for one Swedish friend to pick them up in Sweden and ship them from there the same day (you will have to pay shipping costs obviously).

Please place your bids in this thread, I reserve the right to close the auction if I don't see any bid that I consider interesting. This auction ends Sunday 22nd of september.

I accept bids for only one of the units.

New "update" from Sam on the KnC forums. Notice how he mentions components but not chip production status

Hi guys,

We are still on track, The millions of individual components needed to produce our miners are all arriving at the factory as schedualed and as of right now we do not know of anything that will cause a delay.

Sam

WTF has post count to do with the validity of arguments?
The guy was expressing his concerns based on reasonable assumptions, he wasn't trolling. You may or may not agree with him but I don't see what's the problem with his post and why his post count is important.

I'm not personally as pessimistic, although to be honest I thought that by this time of the month we should have more info regarding chips.

Why is that?  4 newbie posts, then he suddenly shows up in the KNC thread telling everyone how much they're going to miss their shipping dates by, and that they are lying and going to go out of business.  How about judging by that - nothing but a newly registered troll.
97  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: SAY NO TO "PRE-ORDERS"! 2asic.com starts shipping ASICMINER hardware world wide. on: August 28, 2013, 10:57:41 AM
So the idea here is that a in hand dead-on-arrival product that will hardly break even is better than a preorder?
Not hating, just curious about the business model...
99  Local / Hardware y Minería / Re: MINERIA CON LUZ A COSTE 0 on: August 23, 2013, 01:28:37 PM

http://sociedad.elpais.com/sociedad/2013/07/19/actualidad/1374237478_141414.html

100  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 23, 2013, 08:41:41 AM

If the 2Gh/s chip goes close to 2.7Gh/s, then what would the 5Gh/s chip do (if I am understanding things correctly?)
And again, how Barntech get a 2Gh/s chip to 5Gh/s is beyond me. I had one of those Celerons (200a I think) back in the day and that is the best overclocker of all time, but it did nothing near the 2 - 5 range!

IAS

There's only one chip. That chip is named the "5Ghash" chip, but that's just a name, the performance of the chip is 2.7Ghashes. The name is misleading probably because that's the performance they were expecting when designing the chips but 2.7GH is the maximum they are able to get from them IRL.
