2  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-04-24] Russian Opposition Leader Raises $3 Million in Bitcoin Donations on: April 24, 2019, 11:46:56 PM
Bitcoin has become a significant funding source for one of Russia’s leading political dissidents.

Alexei Navalny, a politician believed by many to be President Vladimir Putin’s main opponent, has attracted more than 591 BTC in donations over the last three years, worth about $3 million at current prices, public blockchain data shows.

The donations became a flashpoint this week when a pro-Putin television network questioned their timing.

Navalny’s investigative center, the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK), regularly publishes exposés of government officials, including prime minister Dimitri Medvedev and attorney general Yuri Chaika.

On Monday, an anonymous Telegram channel, “FBK Staffer’s Confession,”  noted that the Navalny organization’s wallet received several large donations a few days before FBK published one such investigation, insinuating it was a paid hit piece. The claim was covered in Russian media, including the pro-Putin Tsargrad TV.

When contacted by Russian news publication Znak, FBK’s chief of staff Leonid Volkov denied any connection between the transactions and its investigations, saying the anonymous blogger “dragged the non-existent facts together in by the head and shoulders.”

Volkov added:

“You can say that each time Encke’s Comet approaches the Earth it coincides with a big war: 1914 (First World War), 1941 (World War II) and 2014 (War on Eastern Ukraine). But its rotation period is three years, and it approached the Earth many times when there were no big wars.”

Funding dissent
The Navalny wallet (3QzYvaRFY6bakFBW4YBRrzmwzTnfZcaA6E, listed on the donations page of his website) received its first bitcoin in December 2016 and since then has seen more than 2,000 transactions, including withdrawals, according to blockchain data.

Most transactions were worth from a fraction of a bitcoin to several bitcoins. From time to time, larger transactions occurred, bringing in up to 20 BTC at once.

Yet Navalny’s political movement, which also accepts donations via bank transfers and PayPal, is not the only dissenting voice in Russia to take cryptocurrency.

Investigative outlets including Zona.Media and The Insider, as well as internet freedom movement Roskomsvoboda, accept donations in bitcoin or ether. However, their wallets have accumulated only small amounts of crypto, no more than 2 BTC each.

3  Bitcoin / Press / [2019-04-24] Binance Promises Decentralized Future Powered by Crypto With Launch on: April 24, 2019, 11:30:30 PM
Binance Promises Decentralized Future Powered by Crypto With Launch of DEX

Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance has released its decentralized exchange (DEX). Unlike the company’s flagship exchange, which is centralized, Binance DEX does not interact with a centralized party. Instead, Binance DEX allows cryptocurrency traders to manage their own private keys. Announced on Tuesday ahead of schedule, the decentralized exchange will run on Binance’s native blockchain, Binance Chain.

CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao says the new exchange fulfills the company’s mission of building a decentralized future and an open global financial system powered by cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

Says Zhao,

“With no central custody of funds, Binance DEX offers far more control over your own assets. We hope this brings a new level of freedom to our community. We will work closely with projects and teams to grow the entire ecosystem.”

With the Binance Chain mainnet launch, Binance Coin (BNB), the seventh largest cryptocurrency by market cap, has become the native asset on Binance Chain, moving from the Ethereum blockchain. In a massive token swap on Tuesday, five million ERC20 BNB were burned as part of the conversion process.

BNB is used for network transactions. During the Binance DEX testnet phase, nearly 8.5 million transactions were made across a simulated trading competition, coding competition and bug bounty program.

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Veil - Privacy Without Compromised (Quick Overview) on: April 24, 2019, 11:09:07 PM
I'm lucky to get in here in the second round of their bounty campaign, I'm really looking for a coin that is already in the market and with good potential to be in the top 10, I check the volume and I'm happy that it is always had a good volume and price in the market maybe this coin could become $10 in the market.
Hopefully in time some day the Veil price will reach $10. By the way, Veil only needs about $150m in market capitalization for the price of a single coin to reach $10. Let's do the math, the Veil price = $0.4 with the market capitalization of $6m. Thus, with $60m (10x) in capitalization the price of a coin is going to be $4, and with $120m in market capitalization the price of a coin is going to $8, with $150m in market capitalization the of a coin is going to be around $10 - it may change depend on the coin supply.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Veil - Privacy Without Compromised (Quick Overview) on: April 24, 2019, 01:43:30 PM
I have heard about Veil for a first time about 2 weeks ago and market cappitalization was around 3 million, now it is 6 million USD. What caused such grow in last few days? Did I miss the train already?

No. It is never too late to hop on. It's never too late to buy. I think the price of Veil will continue growing in the future as more people join the community. The Veil community is very small for now and I believe it would grow bigger in the future. The Veil market capitalization is now only $6.2m - imagine, when the market cap would reach $62m? The price of a single coin would be around $4.

Note: this is not a financial advice. Make sure you do your own research before making any form of investment. thanks
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [PoW] [PoS] VEIL - Privacy without compromise on: April 24, 2019, 12:27:54 PM
Hi guys,

Check out my quick overview about the Veil project :
URL: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5135479.msg50751822#msg50751822

Don't forget to leave a comment about my overview and the future for the Veil project. thanks

Hello team, I just wanted to ask if you guy's can update Blockfolio with all the recent new exchange listings that have happened recently so we can start getting some more accurate price data. Ty guys for everything that you've been doing. Project is looking strong. Cheesy

Yes, you are right in order to get more exposure it will take some more time, the black folio will charge for listing but we need to wait for a further listing of exchanges because now Veil is listed on low volume exchanges. Which it will improve its standards once they start listing in more reputable exchanges.

Nah, Lets keep this baby hidden from the big exchanges for a little while longer... Let us small fish accumulate before moving to larger and more greedy traders  Wink

Has anyone been trading on Vinex?  I've never heard of it until this coin... At this point I'm stuck on graviex with a sell side thinner than lake-ice in April, but would like to get some more in my bag at current prices

Agreed, try to accumulate as much as you can before it's too late  because once Veil hits a big exchange, the price would be higher, those that failed to buy now will be regretting. So now is our chance no doubt about that.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Veil - Privacy Without Compromised (Quick Overview) on: April 24, 2019, 12:10:35 PM
There was a period of stable coin storm. Now, privacy-based coins are popular. But Veil is clearly a well-designed project. It will be very successful if it finds the community support.
Indeed, the Veil project is currently receiving strong support from the crypto community because it's a solid project with strong background and a great team of developers. I think the future is looking brighter 🔆 for Veil because many people are giving excellent feedback about the project even though the white paper is yet to come out... If the Veil team continue on the same path - I mean very committed to their project, I think there is a chance of getting listed on the Binance Kiss But this is just my thoughts I don't know the future Wink
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Veil - Privacy Without Compromised (A Quick Overview) on: April 24, 2019, 06:57:30 AM
Veil is a new more advanced type of privacy coin similar to Monero, Dash, Zcash, Zcoin, Nano, and Verge. Veil claims to have "Integrated the best-in-class anonymity technologies to become the first cryptocurrency that provides uncompromising, always-on privacy."

So what differentiates the Veil with other privacy coins as mentioned above? Veil claims to have the latest technology in the industry, that's "Always on privacy" uncompromising unlike other privacy coin that have many cryptographic weakness that can be used to exploit the users privacy.

There's nothing more worse like trusting a coin with your privacy and end up your ass is wide open, not knowing your privacy is compromised. The way I see it, we all needs privacy in some point of our lives because we are human beings after all. I think privacy is one of the major reasons why people use cryptocurrency today and the Veil coin is here to give you the more advanced type of privacy.

In terms of the market side, the veil has about $6.21 million in market capitalization with the total supply of 14,297,748 and the circulation supply of 11,157,350 at the moment. The price per coin is only $0.43306 at the time of writing this quick overview. Well, I don't know about you but I'm planning to HODL my coins for a very long time.

Note: Four weeks ago, Veil has only $1.8m in market capitalization with the price of only $0.15 per coin and look at the price now. But I think the only problem with the Veil market is the lack of liquidity, the trading volume is very low only $10k to $30k per day.

Disclaimer: This is not a financial advice, make your own research before making any form of investment. Thanks

9  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Over the Counter (OTC) Cryptocurrency Trading - Explained in Details. on: April 23, 2019, 11:08:07 PM
I think there are many advantages of buying bitcoin through over-the-counter trading desk such as:

 - Full anonymity of the buyer.
 - Buy a huge amount of bitcoin at the same price
 - The risk of getting hacked is almost zero compared to the exchanges.
 - Instant purchase, there is no placing orders and wait for the price to fall before you can buy.
 - The best thing about over-the-counter trading desk is you can always have a peace of mind in terms of security and price volatility.

Though the bitcoin price is a little bit high at OTCs, but you can get the advantage of buying a huge amount of bitcoins at the same price with no volatility.
The over-the-counter trading desks help a lot in tackling the bitcoin price volatility. Imagine, the whales buying 200,000 bitcoins on the exchanges, uhh! Grin

10  Economy / Economics / Bitcoin is heading back to $6k on: April 23, 2019, 12:46:22 PM
Wow, the bitcoin is very bullish today.
It appears the bitcoin price is heading back to $6k.
The bitcoin market cap added about $6 billion in 2 days as i speak.
The entire cryptocurrency market adds about $12 billion within the last 48 hours.

    * BTC Dominance = 53.02% - Up(0.4%)
    * Total Market Cap = $187.02B - Up (3.9%)
    * Total Volume = $ 57.43B - Up (16.4%)

What do you think about market behavior today? Do you think the bitcoin is going to back $6k or not? thanks Smiley

11  Economy / Trading Discussion / Don't let the holiday catch you - if you are a day trader. on: April 23, 2019, 12:19:36 PM
Why the cryptocurrency market always go down during the holidays? even the smaller ones like Easter?
I noticed many times in the past the crypto market normally goes down when people are on holidays from Christmas to Eid-mubarak.
Just noticed the market also relaxed during the smaller holidays like Easter, Diwali (a bit) and Maulud. but not on the valatine's day - lol!

Well, the market started recovering from the Easter holidays today and it appears the bitcoin is heading to another milestone, which is very nice.
What is your take on this matter? Feel free to share views with us here... thanks Smiley

12  Other / Meta / Re: I'm little bit confused about Yobit Campaign, I need an advice. on: April 23, 2019, 12:47:36 AM
YoBit has their own ponzi-like pump & dump programmes.

Do you want to be associated with that?

No. I didn't know anything about. I thought Yobit was some kind of hybrid decentralized exchange of some sort.

Doesn't really matter now does it? Yobit signatures have been banned on the forum for the next 60 days

129 users who were wearing a yobit signature and had at least 1 good report against them in the last 14 days are banned for 14 days. All yobit signatures are wiped. Signatures containing "yobit.net" are banned for 60 days.

Some people were talking about neg-trusting spammers for spamming. This is not appropriate; report the posts, and if that doesn't seem to be working well, come to Meta with specific examples and suggestions.

You see that's what I'm afraid of. I read too many complains about the new Yobit signature campaign.

You don't need to think about joining the campaign if you read Theymos' post about it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5133809.msg50727083#msg50727083

I don't know what action will be from Yobit's side. Will they hire a manager from this forum? Let's wait and see...

edit: yahoo was faster than me... Tongue

Sorry, I didn't see that.
I don't actually want to join the campaign that people are complaining about.
BitcoinTalk is our home and is our responsibility to take good care of it.
I know sometimes we make some mistakes but that's actually what makes us humans.

Doesn't really matter now does it? Yobit signatures have been banned on the forum for the next 60 days

Doesn't seem that Yobit is aware of that or they don't care. The tweet is still up and the page on the site is still there as well. Some users could still be trying to use the signature and get mightily confused when it gets replaced with the "I'm spamming" text or whatever it's getting replaced with.

Probably unaware! they won't like wasting money on something that was banned.

Doesn't really matter now does it? Yobit signatures have been banned on the forum for the next 60 days

And if they actually come back 60 days from now, I hope they hire a reputable manger who'll keep the spam to a minimum.  Whoever that manager is, he'll have his hands full.

I don't know if they intended to pump the forum with a bunch of spam just to get their name out, and get people talking about them, but think about the way this worked out for them:  They had a tone of members spam the forum for a couple of days; the whole forum was in an uproar;  8 threads with Yobit in the subject were started just in the meta board.

It'll be interesting to see if they actually come back 60 days from now.  Hell, we'll be talking about them for another week at least.  They're getting a shittone of free publicity just from all the chatter.  The just scammed us for an advertising pump and dump.

I suggest - actmyname for the campaign manager, the guy was very sharp on busting spams. He even mistakenly busts me once last year. lol
13  Other / Meta / I'm little bit confused about Yobit Campaign, I need an advice. on: April 23, 2019, 12:06:55 AM
Hello guys,

Few days ago, I received an email from Yobit.net about a signature campaign. I thought it was fake and I don't even care because I ran out of data.
The next day, I bought the data for browsing the web and I come straight to bitcointalk, boom! Then, I saw Yobit signature everywhere.
Then I started thinking why is the majority of people promoting Yobit campaign? I didn't know it was the payout.

Then, I saw this guy - ActMyName, made a post about people spamming because of the Yobit campaign.
Well, spamming is not good at all because many people don't like it including myself. we all need good posts and quality content.
I really want to join the Yobit signature campaign but I was seeing some really bad comments about it. what do you think about it?

What is your advice to me as a friend? is it worth it or not. thanks for your time and advice.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The Antminer S17 Pro: Is it worth buying? on: April 22, 2019, 04:18:46 PM
Sometimes, I see buying those expensive mining hardwares as a form of insurance. Buying bitcoin or some altcoins don't always pay off and sometimes you might even make some huge profits from bitcoin or altcoins but you may endup wasting the money on some bullshit! It happened to me April 2018, God!
15  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long do you think this BEAR MARKET will LAST? on: April 22, 2019, 03:48:14 PM
While checking around, I came across some write-up of how long this bear market have been and we also get to know that this bear market is the longest.

I found out this: https://www.ccn.com/the-crypto-bear-market-wont-last/amp recently.

So what's your own opinion and say about how soon will the bear market be over?
The bear market is almost over as the entire cryptocurrency market added over $80 billion in capitalization all within the last 60 days. I think the longest bearish market in history is starting to fade away slowly and I believe in few months from now it'll all be gone but history. We are now in the accumulation phase and soon the big bull market would come around Tongue
16  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which one is better? Forex or crypto currency trading? on: April 22, 2019, 03:36:57 PM
Hi,

What is your opinion about forex trading vs crypto currency trading?
Which one is better? More profitable ?

Also, there are some bots like GunBot or C.A.T which automate whole trading, but is there any bots for forex?
Is crypto currency and forex trading strategy and method the same?

Cryptocurrency trading is better and has more profits but it's more riskier. Forex trading is more stable market but it's slow and has less profits. For me, I'll always go with the cryptocurrency trading because it's fast and easy once you master the trading techniques. You only gotta have the right trading plan/strategy that works and you are totally fine Smiley
17  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Traders, what are your views in 2019. on: April 22, 2019, 03:25:44 PM
The market is looking awesome this year 2019 compared to last year 2018 which was bearish. In this year, we are seeing some of signs of a bullish market which is great as the total cryptocurrency market capitalization added over $80 billion in capitalization which is excellent! The year 2019 is looking very good for now, the market is bullish and it has no sign for slowing down.

19  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bull market is back? on: April 22, 2019, 02:43:04 PM
The bull market is back, definitely. Both bitcoin and ethereum have gained over 25% in value from January to date. Heck, the entire cryptocurrency market added over a $80 billion within the last 120 days. Tell me, what is that if not a bullish market, huh? Smiley
20  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Gaining quick profits or keep holding? on: April 22, 2019, 02:35:20 PM
Well, I do both. I HODL few altcoins and I also follow the market trend to make quick and easy profits. What I learned from the market is must of the time there's a trend coin/token - that pumped coin, where to get quick bucks for investing short-term for like a week or so.
