61  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN-STOCK, SHIPPING, OPEN] Professional quality USB hubs for USB bitcoin miners on: January 24, 2014, 12:00:23 AM
If I buy this hub, then I need to buy the USB cards and run it using my computer? Does it matter what computer I have or what USB port it needs?

I can do my best to answer but may get corrected later  Grin

What comes in the box is the USB hub (metal inclosure), a power cable (for connecting to a socket), a USB cable (for connecting to a computer), and a USB LED fan (pleasant surprise!).

You have to buy the ASICs and whatnot separately, this is only a powered hub. I honestly haven't checked power usage or anything but so far the ASICs are running great off a Raspberry Pi. Takes far less space and less hassle than the D-link hubs I was using.

Yep, I was going to do FREE fans with all the hubs (as a thank-you to purchasers )BUT then I found a CRITICAL Quality assurance problem with the fans, and am now sitting with a SHITLOAD of useless fans

Please don't use swan neck FANS with hub/ computer.

1. The fans have a contact that is copper and fails after about 1 week of continuous running…….. fan continues but lights die (not critical, just an annoyance)
2. The fans vibrate and transfer the force down the swan neck and into the USB hub socket… thereby fucking them up………. (critical failure, can damage USB connections)

Please don't use the swan neck fan  directly into ANY fixed USB socket, this is why I think it is difficult to find swan neck fans, and yes I know 'loads of people use them', but I am fairly scientific in most things I do.

Additional taxes…on delivery.. Hong Kong is a free port, and I'm currently looking at ways to pass that saving on……, but ultimately it is down to YOUR local government and customs.
Air post is fairly stringent on declarations, what with people trying to blow planes up…..
SPEED POST demands 3 copies of an invoice is supplied with the documentation.

regarding Power usage, the unit contains a switched mode PSU, so it should be as least as efficient as a phone charger…

A bit of background
On Testing…
Normally I'm fairly private, but I can say I have over 30 years experience in Quality assurance & design/electronics, 25 of which are in China/Asia.
(which is why my first post was a bit technical)

At my last company I managed 3,000 products out of a 28,000-32,000 range and dealt with/controlled about 110 factories over a period of 16 years.
If you live in The UK or Europe, you may see some of the products I have designed. (Homebase/Argos)

The issue is not finding product in China or using a translator for TaoBao/ ali…etc, but rather ensuring what you purchase meets the required levels.

I evaluate Circuit layout
to make sure I get what was agreed…

Here I use  a PAT (portable appliance tester), this  performs leakage, flash test earth bond, cross wired & short tests, This is in addition to the factory tests….
Nope!! I do not trust Chinese factories to say they will do what they agree too.

On 'UK 3 pin' Cables….

Yes I know…. they are NFG (no fucking good) other than for a few countries in the world.
For this shipment I figured people would just substitute in the 'correct' cable, Yep… even I get caught out by the idiots sometimes….
Normally I do on-site inspections BEFORE taking goods, unfortunately before Chinese new year is a problem.

actually it's easy to track these fuckers by hiring private detectives if you know your way around in Hong Kong but it's gonna cost a few thousands which i wouldn't really bother about since i lost only a few coins... however i would if i lost hundreds of coins...

Website http://www.labcoin.com is down...

But, if their pool is hashing away 9.2 TH/S, they must have something good somewhere

yep, they've got a GOOD few million $$$ dollars of other peoples money.

fucking scumbags.. they can't hide forever, and one day someone will recognize them and expose them as low life criminals

You don't need a private detective….
Just contact the HK police cyber fraud squad
63  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Professional quality USB hubs for USB bitcoin miners on: January 14, 2014, 04:38:19 AM
And is this only 220 volt with european connections.

 I am usa I use 120 volt.

I can set it to 110-120 if you place the order with me (razorfish), and I will MARK the box as 110v

The connection is also a standard computer cable, so you can use any cable for your country that:

1. Is EARTHED
2. fits a standard ATX PSU

Background
Why the hubs are 'special'.
(ungrounded BUCK convertors on mains supply are potential killers)
A point than not many people know is that over 90% of the powered USB hubs on the market are actually 'defective', and in many cases have an inherent and potentially dangerous electrical fault.(It's why Chicks in China keep electrocuting themselves when answering a charging  mobile), this is what happens when you design products in isolated labs with little regard for the environment they are used in. (then rip the design without understanding the implications and decision making)

One of the reasons why we keep seeing so many people with  USB chains that go down or fail to recognize devices when they are plugged in.
Usually the people with the SBC's  ( Pi, etc) are more prone to these faults, because these  powered USB hubs usually come with a PSU that has been ripped from a phone PSU design and as such were never designed to operate in a USB environment worse many USB implementations incorrectly mix the shield with the 0V line.

66  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs. Paypal - and PayPal is getting sued. on: January 11, 2014, 07:10:45 AM

Whilst I am no fan of PayPal , I think we have to look at it from their point of view.

Consider back to Jan 2013 or just before, when we know of at least two companies that were taking the piss out of paypal/Creditcard payments on bitcoin hardware.
The paypal exposure must easily have been in excess of $10,000,000.

Look back at all the people who were having to try and attempt to reverse transactions because certain companies  made refunds difficult, and look at the number of F*** feast companies since then offering hardware, some made good on the promises, many did not.

I can see why google wants to see invoices to ensure at least there is expenditure going on actual hardware, I don't think it is because  Paypal wants to kill bitcoin,  we only have to look at the size of some of the operations to see that these guys don't use PP to buy their kit.

Not everything is a conspiracy, and if  a big ass payment company wanted to shut things down, they don't need to fuck about with such a shitty little amount, just go use the lobbyists they pay millions to and do it at source….

67  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Raspberry pi (MinePeon) & 9 eruptors, can I add a cube to it? on: January 09, 2014, 10:38:45 PM
I currently have 120GH/s worth of BFL gear, 2 cubes, and 4 Antminer U1s going through 1 RPi so far...no issues I've seen (running across 2 cgminer and 1 bfgminer instances).

just a tip…..

Run it for 8 hours on the Pi, then plug it into a real computer for 8 hours and report back your findings,

I've see instances of 'A' shared being significantly down, even though the speeds of the miners match.

69  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Ice Fury - missing part on: January 09, 2014, 10:07:24 AM
The missing part is a 100nF capacitor. The device can still function without it.
Or you could just solder it back on, no microscope required. But you may need to file the soldering iron tip down a bit.

Where did you find the "IceFury"?

they have the icefury iF1 here and there are some on ebay too

Yep they do…  and I can offer you  pre-screened 2.6 from red fury for less than that.

Looks like my Ice Fury lost a part in shipping.  Anyone know what the part was?  Any chance I can fix this on my own?

Yep it is stuck to the tape on the left hand side.
but that PCB is wrong on so many levels, some seriously wrong production processes there……

If you are an OS X user or developer and interested in contributing to bfgminer, I've put together a repository with an Xcode project and scripts that allow you to compile and debug bfgminer in Xcode. You can view the instructions and get started here:

http://dev.xgminer.com

Only issue i have is being unable to run bfgminer correctly on a  pro.

continually get
Code:

73  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: NanoFury Project - Open Source Design on: December 28, 2013, 01:21:46 AM
I'm Working on a few ideas on increasing the hashing speed.

But I note on the IOREFF for Ver.7 that it is shown as 0V8(fine!!), but that it appears to be derived from the BUCK convertor (301F) rather than via a voltage divider & cap.
'Bitfury' seems to have stated that the IOREFF pin should be tied to 0V8, but if people start playing about with R2/R3 and the 'stupid' pencil mod, will this not impact the voltage that IOREFF sees potentially making it as high as 0v95?

Also I notice that VUSB does not appear to be decoupled correctly (0uf22/0uf47)?

Next question…
Prior to the nano 50 miners meant 50  embedded SOC's

Since all the function of the SOC has now been offloaded to the miner software, how does that impact the % processor power required to support multiple miners?
I.E can a PI or other SOC (A10/A20)still carry the utilization 'load'?

Actually it is you living in cloud Cookoo land, before you start crying about trolling, companies have a LEGAL responsibility for disclosure. 'secret' and 'non-disclosure' is a BULLSHIT cloud from which 'rip off' and 'con man' operate.

There is something called corporate responsibility, and certainly from my research into operations in Hong Kong, bitcoin operations are nearly always being operated illegally.
Problem is… that WITH A PROPERLY REGISTERED BUSINESS the Government actually indemnifies investors to a certain degree.
But they do demand that a company trading shares meets certain rules are related to accountancy, and in fact any PERSON trading shared in a HK' entity'/ 'instrument'  or indeed giving financial advice without proper regulatory approval can end up with a 5 year jail term, and a money laundering tag/investigation for anyone involved or invested with such companies.
And yes…. Publishing spreadsheets is considered  'giving advice' if the data contained in them has not been correctly audited by a CPA or they do not comply to the accountancy standards of Hong Kong, is also illegal.

Yep … operating out of Kwai Chung in HK does qualify the business to need proper registration AND FULLY COMPLY with HK regulation for disclosure of business details and accountancy standards.

So far I have only seen a couple of correctly registered bit-coin businesses in HK and in both cases the guys are completely open about their dealings.

Bitmit was another example of a bunch of mainland cowboys operating illegally out of HK…..

Contact Cryptsy…

I had horrendous problems getting funds into and out of cryptsy,
IE not turning up despite it being confirmed over their required amount(4).

Unfortunately They're not very good.. but I trust them slightly more than some of the other exchanges.

Tell me are you  a registered company in Hong Kong?
