Do you have the "server power" to host this?

Currently yes, BTCSense is not intended to compete with larger exchanges though. If BTCSense grows in popularity servers will be upgraded, we are currently manually processing payments so I expect the exchange to scale up with demand. I intend to preemptively upgrade before servers start to take strain. Lag should not be as much of an issue anyway, unlike other exchanges you could simply send over an email and complete the process "offline".
382  Economy / Currency exchange / [WTS] * x2 0.15BTC @ £5 * - New UK Exchange Trials on: May 24, 2013, 10:11:32 PM
I am sure a few will have heard by now, I have been developing a new UK exchange 'BTCSense'. At the moment I am at the testing/development stage and I would now like to test the payment system to make sure users are able to buy BTC without any issues. Once I am comfortable with the system and I have ironed out any possible technical issues I will then start selling/buying full orders at the exchange. So... I would like to fulfill 3 2 minor transactions with 3 2 different buyers, one after the other eliminating any potential issues occurring on both transactions.

If you are interested you will need to create an account (don't forget to include your Bitcoin address), simply complete the order and you be provided the necessary bank transfer details to make payment which will complete your end of the process. As soon as I receive your payment I will then send the BTC direct to your Bitcoin address. Feel free to leave a comment if you would like to be first to trial the exchange, I will only update the stock once you have confirmed you're ready, please keep discussion public. You must have more than 150 posts to be considered too, you are getting a little extra BTC for your efforts as a thanks for helping me trial the system. Smiley

UK Bank Transfer  Only
[Ready Now] First Transaction: 0.1BTC @ £5
[Pending...] Second Transaction: 0.1BTC @ £5
[Pending...] Third Transaction: 0.1BTC @ £5

Update
[Ready Now] First Transaction: 0.15BTC @ £5
[Pending...] Second Transaction: 0.1BTC @ £5

Update
[Ready Now] First Transaction: 0.3BTC @ £5

I would also appreciate feedback on the payment process, rep will be provided and I would appreciate your confirmations once you receive your BTC too. Obviously I am not going to scam for 0.1BTC but if you still want some reassurance I recently completed this transaction, I sent 1BTC after receiving payment and without Escrow too. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=210396.msg2212402#msg2212402

Remember to leave a comment here as I will make BTC available on demand.

Yeah why would anyone want a VR porn game anyways? >.<

Because VR porn will satisfy you far more than a real human woman will. And once men start using VR sex, they will STOP using real life human women, and STOP getting married too. And then feminism is automatically destroyed.

My end goal is to destroy feminism. I will use technology to do so.

Not sure I agree that VR would be better lol, maybe visually (in some cases). Sex has nothing to do with feminism.

Sex has nothing to do with feminism. And feminism has nothing to do with false rape accusations?

Nowadays, if you have sex with a girl, at least in America or in the Western world, you are playing with fire. False rape accusations are far more common than you think, and there's a decent chance she will hit you with one, simply out of spite. Let's say that you forgot to call her and don't call her back for a while. She may go around claiming to her friends that you "raped" her, just because she is pissed that you didn't call her back. Then you will get arrested and spend years in jail, and when it is finally proven that you are innocent and that she committed perjury, guess what will happen to her? IF she gets ANY jail time, it will be a very small sentence, like 6 months or so. 6 months for destroying a man's life and causing him to rot in jail for years.
...

So you want to create virtual reality porn company which defends alpha males from feminists and beta males by substituting normal sex with electronic devices which as a result will reduce rape crime in Western civilization?

387  Economy / Auctions / [WTS] x3 Available Ad Allotments - New UK Exchange "BTCSense.co.uk" on: May 23, 2013, 02:07:16 PM
Over the last couple of days I have launched a new UK exchange called BTCSense. I would like to auction 3 of the 8 available Ad spaces on the exchange, 5 of which have been reserved for once the service is more refined, this is an opportunity to get in early at a low price. The site has only been registered for a couple of days so at the moment there are no stats worth mentioning. I will however be heavily promoting the exchange over the next few days through many established social networks and so forth, I also have experience in SEO too so I hope to grow BTCSense over the next few months. These initial ad spaces will be valid for 2 months from the moment they are placed live onto the website. I can also help format any text/images if required.

Max quantity: x3 Spaces
Ad Style: Type, Image or combination
Dimensions: 468x60px
Restrictions: 0.001 Increments not allowed
Please also provide a brief summary of your ad, I reserve the right to reject bits I consider low quality (e.g. Viagra, Adult, Known scams etc)

Minimum bid: 0.01 BTC
Auction End: 31st May 10:00PM (GMT)

Example bids:
2 @ 0.03
Adverting graphics cards

3 @ 0.15
Promoting my social network

Best of luck with this. We really need it.

Coupla things. Typos on your intro paragraph: 'founder the' -> 'founder of', 'with' -> 'within', 'kicked stated' -> 'kickstarted' (speech recog?), 'qulaity' -> 'quality'.
Also, hovering the mouse over most of the buttons makes them do a weird scrolly thing, I think this could get annoying very quickly, suggest you turn that off.

Thanks, what I have written up at the moment is temporary so I have not spent to much time copyrighting. I also suck at English which doesn't help, I will fix up the text though as typos won't make a good first impression. I also need to describe the site more efficiently too, I will likely create some videos and infographics to further illustrate instructions and so on.

Perhaps I could also make the buttons a little more subtle. Your input is very appreciated.  Smiley

393  Bitcoin / Project Development / BTCSense - UK Bitcoin & Litecoin Exchange on: May 22, 2013, 08:36:48 PM

http://www.btcsense.co.uk/

BTCSense is a new UK service for exchanging GBP to Bitcoin (& possibly Litecoin). The UK is notoriously difficult to exchange FIAT for Bitcoins and the few services that do distribute Bitcoin tend to sell them at +5% leaving the UK market at a unnecessary competitive disadvantage. As a result BTCSense.co.uk has now launched. The project from idea to live site is only a couple of days old however I feel the project has already come a long way over that period. I would like to share BTCSense now as community feedback is undoubtedly very valuable and could perhaps push the project in new directions.

Exchange
Buying BTC: To buy the user simply purchases one of the available in-stock Bitcoin packages via bank transfer. Once the payment is received through the system Bitcoin(s) will be sent to the users BTC address. This is a manual process so it might take some time to process the payment and send out the BTC. The exchange will clearly indicate the best time to exchange and I will likely add a schedule too . If the service grows then it is certainly possible to have additional administrators operating the payment process on a 24/7 basis.

Selling BTC: Exchanging Bitcoins to GBP is similar to the buying process, simple purchase a package using one of our Bitcoin gateways including you bank transfer information to send to and we will send your payment once the Bitcoin transaction has confirmed.

What makes BTCSense different?
The service is based upon a model designed specifically to make buying Bitcoins easier and at a fair price competitive at the international level. To achieve this the plan is to pull together revenues from multiple income streams to cover the extra costs we face in the UK. Basically BTCSense is paying off the extra 5% - 15% taking the weight of the UK consumer. My hope is that eventually with enough popularity and interest we could even be able to sell -5% the weighted average which is indeed a significant advantage to UK BTCSense users.

Advertising
Advertising on BTCSense will serve as a great way to promote your product, service, brand and so on (especially within the niche). Advertisers can bid on a selection of ad spaces on the site, some of which more valuable than others. The income from ads listed will directly contribute to covering the extra costs as mentioned earlier so I hope BTCSense users will appreciate the support. (Ads will not be restricted to UK)

Merchants
The core mechanics of BTCSense is a store front, this means that the platform aside from exchanges, is particularly suited for selling items and products. For a small fee you can list an item on the store for visitors to purchase. Note that as BTCSense is an exchange, users will have just exchanged some currency and might be in a mood to buy something too Cheesy. (Merchants will not be restricted to UK)

Summary
I hope you guys are interested in BTCSense, I am not sure if this service will take off but I am happy just to serve a couple of users every now and then regardless. I still have upgrades and pages to complete so please do not judge at the current state, early feedback will help later on into development. At the moment orders/transactions/trades are disabled, prices are not reflective of the actual costs and I am in the process of testing.
394  Other / Off-topic / Re: Religious beliefs on bitcoin on: May 22, 2013, 11:06:58 AM
I'm more concerned with the religion OF bitcoin.  Their are FAR too many people who have near apocalyptic visions of how BTC will transform the world and bring torment an damnation upon governments, banks, Keynesians and everyone who has ever mocked them.  While the BTCers will be enraptured in wealth and splendor and rule the world at the right-hand of Satoshi.  Sound familiar???

I think the speculation section is the temple of the Bitcoin religion.

We do still have data and some evidence though which is a lot more than can be said for other religious models.

Out of curiosity if this was to gain momentum what would it mean for traditional Bitcoin exchanges? I am curious as today I just started working on a new UK exchange (small scale).

I would like to suggest that they change the name if this will indeed become a successful P2P exchange. Perhaps a more interesting name would be beneficial later on when people wonder what it is.

The name is "Open-Transactions."

The above protocols use Bitmessage for the discovery layer, but any other discovery layer could also be swapped in.

Great, I just want to make sure we iron out any new potential complications relating to Bitcoin projects. I hope this projects goes well, if I can contribute any design content(Free of charge) I will. Smiley

398  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about some "Star" endorsements? on: May 21, 2013, 10:50:33 PM
Before we get a bunch of wannabe millionaire famous people asking for Bitcoins how about we devise a more ingenious plan? First get a team together, they have to be dressed and equipped to match this set of people:

x2 Photographers
x1 Agent
x1 Celeb
x1 Limo driver
x5 Young female fans

Ok once we have those all sorted, the team follows some real Paparazzi, after taking their shots of a big celeb their photo opportunity is over. At this point we must have the two photographers in the group of Paparazzi, ready and waiting. As the other celeb is out of view we get the limo driver to pull up in the Limo, the pretend "celeb" then gets out the Limo and has a go at the Limo driver for some reason (showing some ego/arrogance) before getting swamped by the female fans of course (shouting the pretend celebs name  Wink). At this point the agent has to be on the phone looking rushed and busy trying to organise the situation, our photographers shout "it is XXXX" and rush to start taking photos. At this point no self respecting Paparazzi will walk away, even if they don't know who it is because maybe they might get paid extra when they are back at the pulication office/agency.

This sets us up for quick recognition, some additional websites and self produced articles on said person might also help when do some research. This process could be repeated until something clicks and all of a sudden the new mystery celeb is in the public eye.

Expect an influx of new celebs after posting this lol.
399  Other / Meta / Re: Ripple trying to take over the Bitcoin Discussion thread on: May 21, 2013, 04:47:50 PM
I try not to deal in debt in the real world, why would I deal in debt on the internet??  Stick to Bitcoin, its a better idea.

Unless you only ever use cash and bitcoins, you do deal in debt.

Do you deposit money in a bank account? That is accepting Bank IOUs for your cash. Do you ever give somebody a check? That is giving that person an IOU. Later they give it to their bank and that bank gives it to your bank, and then your IOU is used to cancel some of the bank IOUs. Ripple just makes these relationships more explicit and open, not everything has to go through the central bank anymore.

Instead everything can go through the new central Ripple bank.
