681  Bitcoin / Project Development / Merchant Advice - Accepting Bitcoin Payments? (+Wordpress & Opencart CMS) on: April 12, 2013, 04:44:12 PM
At the moment I am planning/working on a number of projects. I would like some advice on any of the platforms listed below in regards to accepting Bitcoin payments and general extension type stuff that might come in handy. It is clear cryto currencies in general are in need of more merchants trading with coins so hopefully I can contribute a number of new services for those who want to start using coins beyond commodities. I should also add that accepting alternative coins is also worthy of a mention, I hope to accommodate for crypto-currencies in all future projects too. I will list the 3 major platforms I will be developing with, all using separate domains for each project and all requiring slightly different features. If you use any of the below then Demo's will provide some useful insight, I would definitely like to see how you guys have allowed for coin trade in your own projects.

Non-CMS
At the moment I have a self managed portfolio website, nothing much but I might start selling digital goods and design related items through a mini store. I am not to worried to much about this project in terms of accepting coins however if you wish to recommend useful code/payment gateways that will allow me to accept Bitcoin then great and I will integrate.

Wordpress.org
This project will allow premium(payed) user sign ups, Paypal will already be set up however it would also be great if I can somehow allow coin payment for premium membership. I am curious about what WordPress extensions and gateways might be suitable? I realize this is a very general question but if you are a WordPress user I would appreciate your feedback, any good Bitcoin's extensions will do.
*Edit: I should add that this project will be a service created specifically for Bitcoin (& alt) users so extensions for this project will be especially helpful. This is top secret at the moment so don't ask lol Cool.*

Opencart
I plan on creating a designer apparel label and I will use the Opencart CMS to manage the apparel items, affiliates, coupons and so on. This will be an eCommerce project so ideally I would like to allow payments in coins, also the ability to cycle through currencies automatically converting the prices would be useful.

I will not exclude the possibility of hiring for specific extensions to be made for these projects too, I will exhaust other existing possibilities first hence why I am looking for your advice. I will probably look more into hiring at a later stage, at the moment I am interested in the possibilities available now and in the near future.
682  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: The good news is that MtGox is pretty much dying. on: April 12, 2013, 10:52:14 AM
I agree, the question is, do people like change? All it takes if a load of fresh buyers with withdrawal symptoms to jump back on the Gox bandwagon, probably not any time soon but possibly within the time frame for MtGox competitors to gain traction. I personally like this apocalyptic feeling we have going on, it means we can actually spend time thinking/working on new ideas that will solve current issues. I think we still have time to make Bitcoins work and prepare it for the masses.
683  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you think the Queen is buying up Bitcoins? on: April 11, 2013, 11:39:09 PM
Not to be a racist or anything, but the queen of England is just that, the queen of England, yet the title assumes she is the queen of the whole world. It should be changed to reflect that fact.

I said in the comment, the Queen (of England), I don't know how anything *about this subject* is racist either way  Huh. For the record I hate the Royal class just as much as the bankers and world government.  Tongue

Did you not know that the queen sometimes go by the name "Satoshi Nakamoto" ?

Also by the name of Batman. Well if she is a reptilian she can be male too.

I feel like my head will end up on a pike after asking this, but do you think the Queen (of England) is investing in Bitcoins? Insiders have suggested that she has already emptied her palaces of furniture and century old paintings ready for mining, she is also apparently on the verge of sending a death squad to BFL as she still has not received her mining rigs yet lol.

685  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Should MtGox Reverse the trades from Black Wednesday? on: April 11, 2013, 07:54:09 PM
Gox sux and Gox is a 80% attack on BTC.

I understand the rugged individualism aspect, especially with BTC pioneers, but if you want new people to adopt BTC there there has to be a modicum of reasonableness and reality in place.  A newb has no reason to doubt Gox or it's alleged bonafides.  To many newb's Gox is the spokessite for BTC.  My first experience with BTC was the localbitcoins, but finding a seller with the BTC I wanted to buy was difficult.  I then tried Bitfloor, cause I liked the idea of depositing $ in a bank account, but Bitfloor's volume sucked and no way was I paying the prices for the asks, though that ~$37 is looking pretty good now.

So I went to Gox.  Everyone is going to Gox, Gox is BTC as far as everyone new knows.  So goes Gox, so goes BTC.  Don't believe me look at the prices for btc all because of Gox.  If BTCe, Vircurex and five other exchages went off line and Gox was up, would anyone care?  Prices may take a little hit due to the vast networks of bots trading the sites, but it wouldn't make much of a difference in BTC price.

Gox holds an implied fiduciary power due to its standing as the face of BTC.  That means making the exchange fair and equitable and not this capricious and arbitrary system of assclownery where a pure state of panic is allowed to ensue and reach a level of pure mania.  The lag was over 75minutes at one time according to bitcoinity.

This is pure silliness, and sad.  BTC has all these lofty ideals of being better than fiat.  Really?

Look at the way late comers are treated.  It's a eff them attitude, they should know better.  LMAO.  I bet most of the people who think BTC is some democratic commodity applauded the Trashbaggers at the OWS rallies because they were fighting the man.  Now the man is they, and newb's be damned cause I (TheMan) gots my BTC and you can pry it from my cold dead fingers.  But hey newb we need your fiat so we can make BTC worth more so we can be richer and sell BTC for more of that fiat we hate so much.  The bipolar like hypocrisy is sadly humorous.

Mt Sux must reverse all trades back to the start of the fiasco.  And BTC'rs need to reverse all attitude back to 2011.

This is a great post, at the moment we are suffering financial De Ja Vu.
686  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: PSA: Bitcoin's survival and long term prospects depend on MtGox getting killed. on: April 11, 2013, 07:45:14 PM
Why are we even trading decentralised currency meant to replace fiat for fiat in the first place? >_>

Because everyone thinks Bitcoin is a currency, yet they find they cant buy anything* with it Smiley

(*you cant eat a VPN or live in a bag of cocaine)

Everyone can buy my T-Shirts and other products with there Bitcoins soon, don't worry people. Feel free to help fund my Bitstarter project too (in sig) lol.

"No! I made a killing!"

I like how you assume people would say no because they "made a killing".
689  Economy / Speculation / Re: Thoughts on price movement when Mtgox reopens. on: April 11, 2013, 06:36:24 PM
It seems the general consensus is down, any suggestions on a time scale? A week, a month? Just curious as I will be able to start buying in a couple of days. This is just out of curiosity, I wont be acting on peoples predictions lol.
690  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Goodbye MTGOX... on: April 11, 2013, 11:56:10 AM
They shut down and are close now.

Doesn't matter. There is no more MtGox. All your balances are vanished. Hope you withdrawn already.

Wow people are going to be pissed lol. Shocked

Rumors. I was able to login not 5 min ago and able to access all functions of the site.

Reminds me of high school when people spread bullshit rumors like this.

Oh ok, people are still going to be pissed regardless. Tongue

692  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dear Mt.Gox, you are not a success on: April 11, 2013, 11:42:08 AM
There are projects on these boards like Dark-exchange but people don't seem to be taking much notice of there work. If anyone has the technical know-how to set up a decentralised P2P network then contact me. I can do the design, branding and promotion. Smiley
693  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: My (and i think some others) blockchain.info wallet was hacked on: April 11, 2013, 11:38:23 AM
Perhaps it is also possible that you visited a cloned website with a slightly different Domain? This kind of scam happens all the time with Paypal and even student loan websites.
694  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin Crowdfunding With Bitcoins on: April 11, 2013, 11:30:12 AM
I have just added my Bitcoin silk screen apparel and merchandise project. If it gets through moderation great  Smiley, if its gets supported even better lol.  Grin

Cool deal. Will check it out and if everything looks good will approve!  Grin

edit: WOW....I think this is one of the coolest projects I've seen yet. Amazing & Approved! I so would use this! Actually, people might want to partner up with you for their "reward tiers".

Here is the project !

Thanks  Cheesy, is it possible to make an edit once the project has gone live? I have noticed an error on the bottom paragraph, I also like the idea of adding partnership bonuses on the reward tiers too so maybe I can add some addition rewards?

696  Other / Meta / Re: Poll: The distribution of gender at Bitcointalk on: April 11, 2013, 12:17:31 AM
I am soooo curious - most Girls or boys here?Huh

Maybe there are more "chicks" but since we don't have to brag about everything, we just take all the money while you guys brag about it.

Some of us have enough dignity to not sell ourselves for a quick buck though lol.
697  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [BETA] Dark Exchange: a 100% decentralized p2p exchange on: April 10, 2013, 10:18:31 PM
Hey Morpheus, need a designer to help work on the project? I have a couple of months summer break from UNI and I want to work on a Bitcoin project. I could create graphic designs such as branding, I can also design websites and I (should) also be able to help you rank high up on Google with SEO. I would be happy to work on this in collaboration if interested. I can code in HTML & CSS however I do not have technical knowledge to developer programs such as this. Some promotional work might help public awareness!

If you are interested let me know and I will create some sample ideas.
698  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: i have around 100BTC and want to sellq on: April 10, 2013, 10:02:38 PM
If you still have a left over on 15th April let me know, I will be buying on the day.
699  Economy / Speculation / Re: The bubble is bursting—what a relief! on: April 10, 2013, 09:49:37 PM
If you're not into day trading, there's a single rule to Bitcoins : thou shall not sell, ever, until BTC has reached full potential or is $0.

Everyone who does not adhere to this, is prey.

If it hits $0 you might as well keep your BTC as a souvernier ha.

This is something I have wondered myself, my bets are on this forum being a sausagefest.

Also to the poster above, the OP's question could be a legitimate question. I myslef have wondered simply because you would think females would be just as interested, obviously usernames might not give a true impression of the gender ration though. Finding out average ages and so on would also be interesting.
