I'm only ever getting "1 active connection to the infinitecoin network"
How does one improve that?
Do you have the addnodes from fisheater's first post in this thread in your infinitecoin.conf file? If not, try adding them. Yup, actually, quite a bit more: addnode=111.161.77.213 addnode=67.193.198.104 addnode=85.217.147.117 addnode=66.87.67.255 addnode=108.62.211.7 addnode=66.63.176.231 addnode=80.7.165.182 addnode=24.144.220.244 addnode=192.241.222.102 addnode=98.18.252.73 addnode=192.249.59.81 addnode=75.152.93.200 addnode=95.170.82.34 addnode=67.177.3.56 addnode=80.234.71.58
OK, quick script... most of those are dead as a doornail. http://pastie.org/8358637The only ones that work: addnode=85.217.147.117 addnode=66.63.176.231 addnode=98.18.252.73 addnode=192.249.59.81 addnode=95.170.82.34 addnode=67.177.3.56 If I strip the conf list to just those, no connections now. Not one.

Thanks fisheater! So far, things seem to be moving along well. I had to open up a new wallet (on a business trip and cannot get access to my other) so I can only confirm that a new-wallet works nicely with pools. I'll have to check the other in a few days. Also, appears that things are going well on the game front too. Come play... and lets get some transactions out there! http://coinbomb.biz/infinitecoin/

So what happens to all the coins that were traded on Cryptsy if the fork?
There were 10's of millions traded on that cliff. They won't roll those back. We are locked into this change by those trades.

if everyone decides what chain to stay on you could then set the wallet and the block chain as a download so everyone is on the same chain but I am sure fisheater is working on it
I'm sure. I've got a cold beer (or a few) waiting for you, fisheater!

Does that fix really solve anything?
I mean, if Cryptsy is not on that chain, how will it work? If not pools are on that chain, what is the point?
I'm not asking passive aggressive questions here... I just don't understand how this works when it goes sour like this.

OK I think this is enough. For 3 days, I've been waiting for this super hard block to be solved, and it was not solved, and I don't know how long it will take. The blockchain is jammed. The coin is about to be dead. Thanks to all the attackers to put IFC in this situation. Mining a coin isn't an attack, it is what it is there for. IFC is in this situation due to a poorly coded difficulty adjustment algorithm. While a bit harsh... I think this is the case. The problem we are in now is due to a problem in 1.5 or 1.6, right? Lets just get it fixed and move on.

Yes, I'd like to hear an official word on this... at this point I feel like any work is thrown away.
|
|
|
Well, that seems like a problem, no?
|
|
|
So how long are we going to have to trudge through these mega-difficult blocks?

LOL Whatever makes you happy, c1010010. I'm sure the next one won't cost you anything either. Yea, I know you post this all the time. I have to admit again, as I have had before, there is a lot of this process I don't completely understand. So, you are saying my account is not being credited. Do you have proof that it is going someplace else? If you do, please share, cause I would want it made right. If you are just guessing... then please say that too.

Thanks for the fully detailed response.
Every time I think I know what I'm doing... I find a whole new level of detail, information, and explanation.
You rock.
And yes.. waiting for the "new rules" block.

In the spirit of full disclosure one of my rigs has been having problems... but average is still over 3. Just in case I'm going to throw 5-6 at it for a while to make up for the past loss.
Gotta knock out those blocks!

One of the most frustrating parts about mining...
And fun/interesting! ...is the vast number of versions of libraries, SDKs, etc that can be mixed and matched.
No doubt. It is just that what I thought would be a simple upgrade ended bringing the whole rig down... no longer works at all. AND, on top of it all, all the old sources I used to build the working machine are no longer available online. (Teaches me to rely on other people hosting stuff. :p)

With the latest Linux 3.4.3 is there a suggested version of: AMD Catalyst Drivers (AMD_CATALYST_DRIVERS) AMD APP SDK Open CL ADL SDK
to use?
I tried to update to 3.4.3 last night and it nothing seems to compile or work correctly anymore.
Thoughts? Advice?
