182  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: How to get mgpumon web interface? on: September 11, 2013, 03:46:42 PM

Bump for curious users.

Steps to enable mgpumon for your multi-rig farm.

1) for every rig you want to have report status (a.k.a. REPORTER):
    In your /etc/bamt/bamt.conf file:
add/edit the "do_direct_status" line and point it to the host you want to receive the data.  (a.k.a. LISTENER)
            example:     do_direct_status: 192.168.1.26

Note:  The LISTENER already has the ability to receive its own data, so there is no need to add the "do_direct_status" line.
But it can't hurt if you do.

2) on your LISTENER rig:
    In your /etc/bamt/bamt.conf file:
add/edit the "do_mgpumon" line to enable the LISTENER.
            example:     do_mgpumon: 1

3) reboot your LISTENER or start mgpupmon:
    a) reboot
            example: sudo coldreboot

    b) start mgpumon
example:  sudo screen -Samd mgpumon mgpumon /etc/bamt/mgpumon.conf

4) Log in to your LISTENER's mgpumon to view status
        example: http://localhost/mgpumon/

Note: That last slash is important.  Don't forget her.  (slashes are female, back-slashes are male, BTW)

Pro Tip: Use a service like no-ip.com in conjunction with your firewall port-forwarding rules to forward WAN initiatiated requests to view your LAN gpumon data:
        example: http://myRig.no-ip.biz/mgpumon

Why you say that. They are pretty sturdy.. Gota love k'nex

I was saying heat wise.  K'Nex do rock!

The exhaust heat on my Sapphire 7950s actually softened the plastic of a milk crate on my first rig. Smiley

Very cool idea.
However, I think if I had mine in those rigs, they MBs would be sitting in a puddle of molten plastic. Sad

here is one of my mining rigs

Totally reasonable question.

Here is the honest answer.  VLC was billed as a new coin with a "fair launch" structure.  One that allowed mining to happen in such a way where the general community could benefit and not just the first miners to join in.  See the Original Post.

After a bit of discussion and investigation into the source it was determined that the code was written so that the first block mined was worth 1,000,000 coins.  then the "fair" kicked in.

So, 1M out of the current 3M are owned by one person and done, what I would call, semi-secretly.  Hardly what I would call fair.

So, that is why *I* am down on it.  It is profitable to mine, no doubt, but as soon as there is value in the coin and the owner of the 1M decides to dump, you, the one who spent time mining, are left holding a ton of useless coins.

Why are you guys being so negative? Look, VLC is in the top most valuable coins to mine right now.

I think he already mentioned that he doesnt have 1M with him, rather only 200k or so? There are people with more than that many VLC (from mining) and i think all of us are smart enough to not just dump all the coins at once and be left with nothing. So dont be so sad about this. I have 100k+ vlc too and i am okay. I am just waiting for it to go on cryptsy so that i can start trading.

Well, in all seriousness, I do wish you well. I hope it turns out to be a successful coin.  I was 100% bought in to it at the start, and I think the cryptocoin world in an interesting place to be.

Success in one coin is good for all coins.

Peace.

GOGO VLC to cryptsy

3.5 MIL coins exist atm

So almost a third of all coins mined is the pre-mine?

That does not mean diluted at all.

Call me a rat leaving a sinking ship...
or call me smart for getting out when it was 3x more valuable.

Either way, I'm done with this pump-n-dump scam.

Yes this one had a little premine, so what?

Says the man with lots of pre-mined vlc.
189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★★ [ANN][VLC] ValueCoin | The real valuable coin | Launched on: August 27, 2013, 02:15:19 PM
yea, how is the vlc.epools.org doing?

I know a lot of us invested hundreds if not thousands of hours into that pool for your coin.

So, things are good?

cgminer only reports back whatever the driver tells it the load is. However the driver will report 0 if you query it too often. I don't know what front end you're using there to communicate with cgminer but perhaps that's all it is.

BAMT and the mgpumon tool.

Good to know.  Thanks.

ck-

Any idea how/why this happens?

The software works like a dream... and I love you for it.... so please don't take this as a complaint, just as a "I wonder if I'm using it incorrectly".

The GPS are hashing like MF'ers, and blocks fall before me... so why does it tell me 0% load?

Connection seems much better today, I was able to edit the user page effectively.  Is everything working ok?

not for us in NA.  been down like 24 hours

The website is administratively down at the moment.  Nobody should be able to connect.

Thanks.

Any ETA?

Less than an hour now.

I shiver in antici... ...pation!

Is the pool closed?

Web-page seems dead.

No, the pool is down for maintenance.
I don't know why there are 2 threads on this pool but here is the active thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=167635.0

Thanks, I'll go to the other thread.

We should close and lock this.

This coin has been there for long time, should be listed in cryptsy!

Have you been reading the above?

Why would cryptsy list it with all the pre-mined coins out there and the lack of explanation?

Ohh... they wouldn't.

Aaaaan... they haven't.

<WISDOM>
Hope this helps Smiley

It absolutely does.  I kinda feel stupid about not noticing the pool hashrate - but I guess I have a stupidity-clause because I was zoomed in too far to notice it.  I see it now.

Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Sure.  Thanks.

I pulled all the rigs off for a while - testing out a pool for shits-n-giggles.  If you need them online for any reason, I'm happy to move them back for live tests.

The oddity that I'm seeding is shown below.

My rigs are pretty consistent.  I am generally a solid 8-10Mh/s with those 16 cards, but I have been having a rig acting up so there is a definite possibility that the average hashrate over the past week is closer to 7.5Mh/s.

What I saw was that when running full force, you see an average payout at point-a.  But, afterwards, point-b shows a drastically different number.

I'm not sure if it is me, you, or the phases of the moon.

If you could help explain that, I would very much appreciate it.
