Since you're running BAMT, you may want to check out the latest Scrypt version of BAMT 1.2 that bee is working on (posts in reddit and Litecoin forums).  He's updated the AMD Drivers for the new R9 cards.

Thanks, I'll give it a whirl.

cgminer no longer supports GPU mining.  I believe 3.7.2 is the last version that supports it.

Well, dammit.

I guess I have my answer.

Threads like this may help. It's evolving: https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=6842.0

thanks.  It does. I'm on the 3.7.2 path now... and will read up on the new branch.  I suppose it had to happen... Litecoin has to surpass bitcoin sometime. Wink

First off, sorry if this is one of those questions that has been answered - I'm SURE it has.  693 pages of posts is impossible to search through.  The search tool gets me so many hits it might as well get me nothing.

I have 4 rigs running 7950 GPUs like a charm on cgminer 3.1.  I just purchased a R9 270x and have learned that it will not work without the latest AMD drivers.  So, that's where we're starting.

I'm building out a completely new rig.

I just built a BAMT image on an USB:  BAMT 0.5c.
I've upgraded to the AMD latest drivers:  amd-catalyst-13.11-beta-v9.4-linux-x86.x86_64.run
I just pulled the latest GIT tree for cgminer:  3.8.5

And I ran my usual script and nothing works.  Apparently all kinds of things have changed.  All the SCRYPT readme files are gone.  The ADL includes directory is gone.  The README does not reference anything SCRYPT any more.

If someone could start me off on the right path, I would very much appreciate it.

Perfect.  That is exactly what I wanted to know... and it is similar to what I had pieced together with various sources.

Thanks.

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / XPM, BTC, LTC on: November 30, 2013, 03:49:45 PM
OK, so forgive this noob question, but I'm not at all knowledgable about XPM.

BTC and LTC are two different algorithms, require different hardware to mine effectively, etc.

So, is XPM a third?  Or is is based on XPM?

67  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [WTS] ButterflyLabs August 18 Monarch Pre-Order on: November 29, 2013, 06:47:03 PM
I am selling a BFL Monarch pre-order that was placed on August 18th. This order is in the 1st batch "bullet run" so you will be getting one of the first Monarchs on the market. The hyperlinks below show that the bullet run Monarchs were out of stock on August 19th. This means that you will get a head start on mining, as the bulk shipment of monarchs will be shipping a month after the bullet run Monarchs have been delivered.

Asking price will be BTC10 and BTCrow will be used as the escrow service.

The entire transfer process will go as follows:
1) You will send Bitcoin to BTCrow.com payment address
2) I will transfer the device to your ButterflyLabs account using your email.
3) You will accept the transfer to your account.
4) I then accept the transfer and finalize it.
5) You release funds from BTCrow.com
When the transaction will begin, I will issue a escrow transaction. You will be emailed the appropriate information.

So, just to be 100% clear.  You are saying you will sell a card, worth $4680 for $11,800?

77  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is bitcoin creeping up again. on: October 22, 2013, 07:12:17 PM
Am I never going to be able to buy a couple more for below £30?
Don't worry, it's a matter of hours before you can buy BTCs for dirt cheap again.

Will I be able to buy them for £3 again? I remember those days.

Only if you can mine them with a GPU again. Not much chance of that.

CUP and GPU are dead.
78  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: bitcoin qt not downloading the remainder of the block on: October 22, 2013, 07:11:36 PM
I downloaded the latest Bitcoin -qt client and not it sees that I have all but the last 8 weeks of transactions, but it refuses to download any more.
If the first peer it tries to pull from fails it may not continue until the next block is found on the network.

On the order of days... so be patient.
