41  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Lost BTC in iPhone wallet by Bitcoin.com on: May 08, 2020, 01:27:56 AM
Maybe you can try contacting their support to see if there is any way he can downgrade his wallet or restore it somehow:

https://bitcoinbch.typeform.com/to/oLmju8
(taken from https://www.bitcoin.com/contact-us/)

And even posting this on /r/BTC which is basically Bitcoin Cash's sub but there are far more people that use this wallet there (since it's owned by Roger Ver).

Thank you. I've got a nice reddit thread started.

42  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: May 08, 2020, 01:22:16 AM

Excuse me. But I'm not looking for a cash payment system that reports my financial condition.

It doesn't report it but it allows people you transact with to see it.

It allows anyone to see it. The ledger is public and deep learning algos have been developed to connect the dots.

Try this: go buy some BTC on coinbase and spend it anywhere. Do you not think coinbase can now follow that spending trail to its conclusion?
43  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Lost BTC in iPhone wallet by Bitcoin.com on: May 07, 2020, 04:56:45 PM
Ask him to do this:

1. Click on his Bitcoin Core wallet, the three dots at the top-right corner and "Show my recovery phrase". This should show his seed.

2. Download Electrum (electrum.org), create a new wallet by clicking on "I already have a seed", write the seed from the app, click Options and select "BIP39 seed", click next and select "legacy (p2pkh)". He should then have access to his wallet.

Going to give this a try now. Thank you so much!

After Updating, did bitcoin.com create an entirely new wallet for him?

We don't know. What is the best way to determine this?

After Updating, did bitcoin.com create an entirely new wallet for him?

Apparently, the update created an entirely new wallet as the Electrum import also has a zero balance.

A friend of mine received 1 BTC in his Bitcoin.com iPhone wallet on August 18 of 2017.

He recently updated the app and this balance disappeared. He does not have a backup or seed phrase available.

Could it be possible to manually recover his 1 BTC balance by perhaps rolling back to a previous version of the app or by some type of manual recovery?

https://medium.com/@paintedfrog/craig-wright-plagiarized-significant-portions-of-his-phd-thesis-and-tried-to-hide-it-80cd8f01459
"Wright plagiarized huge swaths of content and reworded it to avoid automated detection tools. In most cases, he simply substituted synonyms every few words."

correct me if i'm wrong, is this the same guy who is the Bitcoin satoshi vision team leader? I wonder how it does to keep Bitcoin Satoshi Vision developing and how the hell does anyone still believe in BSV with Faketoshi as the developer. I will not lie, I never thought Faketoshi would be able to lie about things related to his school curriculum

We rely on the code. Not a person.

And the code of BSV is clearly and without a doubt the closest thing we have to the original Bitcoin in the world today. That is not debatable.

Now whether or not having BSV is a good idea, that's another topic of conversation.

47  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if every miner but 1 CPU stopped mining for 4 weeks? on: May 07, 2020, 02:32:59 PM
Although it is unrealistic I was curious what would happen to bitcoins mining algorithm and hash rate.

The hashrate would go to zero/near zero.

I'd have to study the difficulty change algo more, but I think all tx would stop for 4 weeks and a block would never been found.
48  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I would like the confirmation of more expert people on what Bitcoin is on: May 07, 2020, 02:26:41 PM
I am skeptical not because of the simple explanaation, but because for the first time I understood it 100% and for the first time I see such a clear explanation of Bitcoin without explaining cryptographic things, hash and other techno-babble words in a context that sometimes seems used because the same author had no idea what he was talking about and tried to mask it with difficult terms.
I am glad I found this guy Smiley

I think it's a pretty darn good article for a beginner. Not sure you're going to walk away though with a 100% understanding.

"Basic" understanding seems more accurate.
49  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig wright found to have plagiarized his PhD-not really a doctor of anything on: May 07, 2020, 02:04:09 PM
He was probably too busy inventing the future of the money to concentrate on school work.

Seems Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg had the same mindset.

Wright didn't get his PhD until 2017, 8 years after Satoshi launched Bitcoin. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg weren't serial plagiarists.

Funny how this thread was moved to where it is it now. Not many will see it now since only people who have unresolved issues with others on the forum come in here. Embarrassed

LOL. That's funny and sad and true. Where was it before? Bitcoin Discussion? You could always move it back.

I think we have sufficient proof (code) that BSV is in fact the closest thing we have today to the original Bitcoin.

Seeing has how the BSV GitHub repository has 766 commits from Amaury Sechet (BCH dev) in it, I don't think that's true at all. You sure do defend Craig Wright and BSV pretty hard for someone who claims they don't like BSV or Craig Wright.

Thank you for these insights Nutildah.

Craig Wright is simply trying to restore Bitcoin to its pre co-opted state. I disagree with Craig Wright in that in addition to larger blocks, we also must have privacy and a replacement for Proof of Work.

I do not support any consensus system (BTC, BCH, BSV) that is a VERY REAL threat to the well being of the "planet" in which we inhabit.
50  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's End Game on: May 07, 2020, 01:46:19 PM
Concerns must exist if bitcoin does not last long because of interventions by countries that consider bitcoin to be illegal.
but we know that many countries have recognized the existence of bitcoin and have accepted it as a legal transaction. so that it can be used as a legitimate medium of exchange and purchase. even if later the state will try to establish its own digital currency, there may be many obstacles that occur because not all countries can recognize other countries' digital currencies, because they only regulate the legal currency and have been issued, maybe the country is preoccupied. bitcoin will still be a tool that could be an alternative as usual because it has been going well.

This is correct.

Bitcoin is a banker operated settlement layer now engineered (1MB blocks) to depend upon a highly regulated L2 scheme that turns miners into money transmitters subject to KYC/AML oversight and enforcement.

You won't be reading about this true history and masterplan anywhere else.

51  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A perspective of the future of Bitcoin.. on: May 07, 2020, 01:38:16 PM
Bitcoin can become something more than just a digital currency, but it needs the support of the authorities to do this.

The only things the authorities support are the things they can control and regulate.

We don't need our babysitter giving us a green light. We need sovereign money outside of their control or influence.

This means most of all built-in privacy. Because you will never have freedom without privacy.
52  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will bitcoin be the ideal currency of the future? on: May 07, 2020, 01:34:15 PM
I don't want to say that what I see now is an ideal currency, because it has both advantages and disadvantages. But I do not deny the fact that bitcoin is the basis for creating an ideal currency system.

Yes, it's a great basis. Now open up the blocks, add privacy, and replace PoW and you're talking next generation of money.
53  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LIGHTNING NETWORK - what is happening, dead, stagnant? on: May 07, 2020, 01:32:38 PM
Lightning was a total Polish abortion from the beginning.  Blockstream tried to take over Bitcoin and the punishment was idiot garbage ideas like Lightning.  Junk.  It is over.

What do you mean tried?  Wink
54  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Craig wright found to have plagiarized his PhD-not really a doctor of anything on: May 07, 2020, 01:24:53 PM
BTC community don't need clown which scam people to buy coin made by incompetent in programming, math and cryptography fields.
Fortunately other people who contribute on his coin is more incompetent, otherwise i'm sure various bug will be found and exploit which makes the coin worthless.

I think we have sufficient proof (code) that BSV is in fact the closest thing we have today to the original Bitcoin.

Just because he believed "In the code" and then tried again with his offering of BSV. Then sending as much hash as he could to pump it up, which was a complete and utter failure. Like all of his attempts at anything he has tried proving he is/was satoshi.

Not sure how we can classify the #4 cryptocurrency in the world today a complete and utter failure. I mean, give me a break.

56  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A perspective of the future of Bitcoin.. on: May 05, 2020, 05:03:57 PM
This happen today because it is the current usage of bitcoin to the people. Yet, it is for daily transaction. People always wany to use this cryptocurrency to earn and make money. However, I think someday people will learn to utilise bitcoin because it will become the main currency in earth. Looking forward with that scenario but right now, assume that bitcoin is a profitable asset.

If the world moves into a cashless society with Bitcoin becoming the main currency,

All payments will be traced, tracked, and recorded into an immutable ledger,

And Freedom on this planet will cease to exist.

This is over reacting on freedom things since I don't see any danger on it not unless if you are trying to hide your illegalities since if this case your will really worried about the outcome of your transactions and everything but I don't see any correlative danger if you used it for regular matters for example buying essential goods in the market.

When I operate with Cash in society, I have freedom and privacy. A cash payment system by default must offer privacy.

Just becomes guns can be used for criminal activities, doesn't mean all gun owners are bad guys.
57  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If we are to start from beginning. on: May 05, 2020, 05:14:26 AM
If we reset the world economy, I think bitcoin will engage more in globalization when people know the true benefits and advantages of it in the world economy. This pandemic is the key for the people to know the proper use and advantage of bitcoin in many transactions. Besides fiat currency, bitcoin can be used for an investment and asset when you want to have an alternative coin or material. Tangible money is made of paper and paper can be acquire from trees, by using digital currency, we can minimize the cutting of trees and we can help our environment. Plus, we are living in a world where technology are advancing, so it is more likely that if there's a restart in our economy, everything will become right in place and economy will become much better as government and people know what to do and invest.

I agree. But it's our responsibility as stewards of this planet to inform the public that Bitcoin is not that currency.
58  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If we are to start from beginning. on: May 05, 2020, 05:01:24 AM
If we have only a restart button into the world we will use this and back again into reality when the world is safe. But I think this button exists we cannot stop the tradition of the people to eat some exotic foods which can cause coronavirus or still another virus which more impact on the world. We cannot blame them because this is they tradition and norms I think it is a lesson in life to them and most of us that we must need to make a proper dish not just only eat the animals and other stuff of dishes without a proper cooking requirement to kill the virus and germs immediately. So next time we can now avoid this kind of problem and not become confident too much because that is a "virus only"

Please wake up from your deep sleep, turn off the news, go into nature and commune with the earth.

Then you will have the eyes to see these lies and stop repeating them.

Not interested in supporting government-sponsored false flag pandemics. Turn off CNN, MSNBC, and FOX you might still have hope.
60  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Now Legal In India? on: May 05, 2020, 04:47:24 AM
Blockchain advocates have hailed the recent Indian Supreme Court’s pro-crypto ruling as a landmark for adoption and development. Now, new forces are emerging that seek to put the brakes on India’s rapid embrace of cryptocurrency.  What do you think about the future of crypto in India, guys?

I have been following the trends about cryptocurrency in India. I do believe that the government will buy into it eventually. It is normal for such innovation to face opposition. Change is hard to grasp but nothing can beat disruption

Once they figure out that Bitcoin is the perfect money for tracking payments in their new cashless society, they will be "all in".

The real question becomes, is it too late to stop bitcoin and the extinction of freedom on this planet?
