221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: May 18, 2014, 09:46:14 PM
How many curecoins are there in existence as of right now?

Around 610 000+ in circulation

'Devs, how are you getting you user stats right now ? I cant see why all the miners have to stay in the CureCoin team when you could just use a script that check's the stats via the username.... Or am I missing something ?
Thinking about it, it would make folding Cures so much more fun as you get the competition between different "mining teams" as well.

I agree. You could do that, or have a place on cryptobullionpools to enter what team number you're on there. On top of that, if you could record a person's current point total on joining, then people who have been folding for a while could take part as well without having to leave their teams.

I am for finding a way to open CureCoin folding rewards to members of ANY team. People need to understand, some of these teams are very old, very passionate, and very dedicated to their teams and about *volunteering* their *donations* to the fold at home project. Please understand that FAH has been going for 14 years. [H]ardOCP has been doing it since 2000. The EVGA team has been doing it for 7 years. We've been doing it for one week.

We're the bull in the china shop right now, and when you talk about recruiting from other teams, you're talking about destroying other teams that have had to work a thousand times harder than us to accomplish what they have accomplished. That's wrong, and believe it or not - it will drive people in the FAH community away, because we've killed it for them.

Now suppose the value of CureCoin does fall. Will you still be folding? Because that's what many of them are talking about when they talk about us. Cheating. Dropping units in the hunt for higher payouts. That we'll just move on to something else three months from now. The best thing about us, to them, is that we're introducing new people to the Folding@Home program that might just stick around after the tide of CureCoin miners leave.

The reactions to us haven't exactly been brilliant. They're floored, for sure, about the hash-power we've managed to drum up. But we're hurting the huge communities that have been built up by dividing them and forcing them to break ranks and join our team if they want to take part in our coin. If everyone joins our team, what's the point of having teams in the first place. Eh?

No. No recruiting from other teams. And until the devs find a way to include members from *any* team, I would encourage people in other teams to KEEP donating what they can afford to their teams, and to utilize the CureCoin program to facilitate their ability to donate more.

Make the coin PoS and make amultipool to pump the price. No mining, only folding. Coins for folders to be generated like PoS interest from the whole network. If you dont do this price will die, because folding is extremely profitable and all people will dump hard, as they will still be on plus. Then the inertion will kill the price to the end and people will leave this gr8 project. At least make a multipool. People will support this way CURE again by mining other coins and pumping more profit for folders and themselves as well, being paid in CURE.

I think it might be true that a multipool would provide a little bit of buy support to the market while the trading volume is so light, but the main reason I support someone from the community getting a multipool set up is because it would allow people with Scrypt ASIC's to use their hardware to support the coin as well.

Goodnight everyone;)

I hope the creator has thought about pink being the coin to buy and donate to 'pink' breast cancer awareness funds.

Think about it, a pink exchange that gives its profits to a breast cancer awareness fund. Pink merch, pink multipool etc... all profits for bc awareness.

It would be thee crypto for pink campaigns.

I suggested that before the coin was even released...

I see that. You guys are definitely on the right track with this, and madmartyk - looking at the early posts you were definitely the first person to show any kind of constructive input on this coin. Thank you for that. Either of you are welcome to PM me your PinkCoin addresses for some free coins, consider it a token of our appreciation for your input and ideas:)

226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: May 18, 2014, 07:19:20 AM
So glad I got out early with only 10% loss.

Cure is being dumped big time. Funny how no one really talks about it in this thread.

Why would people focus on a low price? People should be focusing on the project itself; on development. This coin is what... 8 days old? Sheesh..

Yeah, and in a few days, when those "easy" coins from the smaller pool have dried up, and there's some actual volume in the exchanges, it'll likely tick back up.

I've folded for three days now.  My second payout was 25% higher than my first day's payout, but my daily points were more than double.  Those 7488 folding coins are getting spread thinner and thinner.

You should also note that only about 3500 coins were traded since Poloniex added Curecoin...that's a ridiculously small volume to be judging the coin's value on, less than half a day's production.

It's worth noting... there's another moon we're going to... and I've been wondering for the last couple of days: What's our daily output going to level off at? Because we're already over the moon. Coming up on mars soon. Doesn't look like we're loosing any acceleration. Pretty wild.

http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_summary.php?s=&t=224497

Edit: We're on pace to be doing each day what the #2 producer does in a week... as of tomorrow.

*cough*

Sorry about that, just a little too much smoke blowing around in here. *fans the air with his hand*

whats up with the spam post buddy?

You're right, sorry about that. Been biting my lip and slipped for a sec. Deleted the post.

Pure POS,   Pow/POS.   What is this coin?

bit confusing.

If it is Pure POS at 1% interest a year, wouldn't you be better off selling all your coins and putting the money in the bank for a higher interest rate?

We get hit hard by pump & dumpers early on, and most of the driving force lately has come from the community. You might be right about the 1% interest in a stable market, but with our market cap only being 13k at the moment, it's wise to hold because frankly, we are doing something with the coin, and anything we do is bound to generate more interest and subsequently a rise in value.

HUGE things going on behind the scenes guys. Some Industry firsts.
We are just getting started guys.
Hold onto your hats and you're coins friends. we're in for an AMAZING ride together.

all I will say is: you will want to hold onto your coins, as many as you can. Wink

Could you tell us a bit so we can interest our friends?

Let's just say we're working on cleaning up the things that need to be cleaned up, doing ordinary coiny-things that need to be done, and working on something extra that's different and special and that we really hope pans out in the way we hope it will.

Not everything will be done next week, but a large part of it will, along with more information about what we're working on and the direction we're taking the coin.

also, i think everyone should throw a few lgc at fairglu. he's doing a great job with our block explorer. his address is on the website. i've already sent him a 100 lgc. i'm sure he would be grateful for more.
I just sent 500 LGC to LLFwwEau6KsX6y49nDho4dBNZABt3Newpv which is on this site: http://chainz.cryptoid.info/lgc/#

Thanks, it's appreciated!

About the exchanges, it seems poloniex actually trusts all the rich list, the top #5 addresses not attributed to polo still actually awfully look like polo's cold storage wallets (they could also be someone cashing out of polo to a cold storage, so we can't be sure until they're spent).
If polo goes under, LGC would be majorly Goxxed (beyond losing an exchange)

Excellent point. More than a few of us have a large stash holed up on Polo, frankly myself included. Thanks for the fair warning, and for the excellent explorer.

The thread you're pointing too, shows a an example of a pool being abused by fake shares, which is, again, completely irrelevant with regards to network security and block rewards for just everyone (except those on the abused pool). The coin in question eventually forked for reasons again completely unrelated to your claims here. This adds absolutely nothing to what has already been expressed.

You continue to not take the time to read the explanations that you're offered, and you have not added any question or argument of value.
Sorry, but I'm done here. You are not being ignored, but I will certainly not feed this discussion any further!
Cheers,

Are we reading the same thread !? Roll Eyes

luqash3 was faking shares AND FINDING BLOCKS.

Ignore these facts again and you'll win a super secret prize. Wink

Nope. We're saying that Luqash3 was one one of the few lingering people at that pool that wasn't faking hash, that it was a time when difficulty was extremely low and the coin was dying, and he was only managing to solve a block every 1-3 hours on a 30 second coin.

from what the dev quoted it sounded like they would stop mining it if it was hurtting the network

You may well be right. The important thing is that they've stopped mining us for now.

They are still extracting 42% of the blocks.

42% of the last 100 blocks. It should gradually go down as new blocks get mined. Will have to keep an eye on it though.

Edit: Just went over to TMB. You're right, they are still mining it, just with less hash. *shrug*

That link just reminds me of what talesfromthescrypt looked like after everyone abandoned it. Just a few lingering cpu miners solving all the blocks while others faked hashrates and scooped up whatever rewards they happened to find. It was kind of sad really.

I noticed at when the difficulty is low, around 15-20, the blocks are usually solved by one pool in quick succession, is it because the new block has not been broadcasted fast enough to whole network, the pool solved the last block get the new block earlier than other miners?

Is this particular to the fast block coins?

it's because of the hashrate of trademybit imo we should be contacting them and asking them to stop mining lgc as they seem to be doing damage to the confidence in the coin. i mined kittehcoin for a while and they had an issue similar to this but instead of the hard blocks being solved in under 30 miuntes it woudl sometimes take almost 24 hours to find a block.

As for contacting them, dev already did, and they've already adjusted their systems. I doubt they'll stop mining LGC - but they weren't aware that the block reward had halved from 50 to 25.

237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN CureCoin is launched 5/10/2014 on: May 16, 2014, 04:31:49 PM

Some 200 coins later it is already time for me to say good bye. I switched my little GPU power back to my home team.

Job well done from CygnusXI and his team. While it it obvious that CureCoin attracts quite a number of new users for folding, which is great for science, it is for the price of having a mono-team setup.

That's what I don't like so much.

I will continue looking after the project as it's linked to folding, which I really like. I will continue learning about the whole crypto currency thing, which I still not fully understand.

Keep folding ! Smiley

You, and all the other folders out there are heroes in my eyes. The folding community has been supporting extremely important medical research for many years now, and you've done it for honor, prestige, loved ones, and often simply because it's something wonderful you can do for humanity. Those of us doing it now for CureCoins, when we weren't before, are generally doing it because someone made a bitcoin-like digital coin that had an amazing cause - so we might be able to make some money and do some good at the same time.

Those of us in Crypto have been throwing computing power away, and it's been haunting many of us. The primary purpose of the 'block' we're trying to solve is just to be so difficult that it takes everyone working on it X time to solve it. The coins, security, transaction ledger, etc. is just a byproduct of the otherwise useless computing exercise. And that has haunted those of us that know how great an impact all that computing power would have if it was put to good use.

We've effectively set up a rat race for ourselves that gets more complicated the faster we run the race. Our rats are now running near lightspeed, and all they're doing is running the stupid race.

I don't know how this is going to sound to someone outside of crypto, but I very much believe it to be true, though I couldn't possibly prove it. The amount of computing power dedicated to cryptocurrencies is an order of magnitude greater than anything that has ever been invested into the folding@home project. We're not trying to pool up people from other teams, though I'm sure that unfortunate side effect was anticipated. What you're seeing on the CureCoin team is mostly our community, and a very tiny fraction of it at that - on the order of <%1 of all the GPU's, CPU's, and cloud instances currently dedicated to mining other coins. That is why there has been such a meteoric rise in power shown on our team.

It would be nice if, sometime in the future, we could disperse, and fill the ranks of other teams, and still receive credit from CureCoin, for the good of the Folding@Home Community. It would allow you guys to take part without abandoning your own teams. But for the moment, CureCoin is just this fledgling thing trying to get off the ground.

Please understand that we respect all of you, and hold you all in the highest regard. We don't want to do anything to hurt the Folding@Home project, or anyone involved in it, and when any issues do arise, please be assured that the community will work hard to find and implement an acceptable solution for everyone.

Thank you for being a part of us and helping us through this early time. We truly do appreciate it.

That's definitely in the cards! We're tossing around ideas on exactly how to use PinkCoin to get the most support for breast cancer awareness. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Keep it civil guys we are all friends Cheesy

It could indeed by the chinese testing out ASIC's which will be a mixed bag if true. It could on one hand do wonders for the price of LGC (If people keep faith) but it would also eventually take the coin out of the everyday miners which is the exact opposite of what we wanted for Logicoin. It's worth noting that we will do everything in our power to stop that from happening.

On the plus side DGW is handling the huge increase and decrease in hashrate exceptionally well.

Yes sir. Sorry I got a little steamed. I've just been following from birth, and this is one of the very few new altcoins that I have no doubts is above board, never-mind the fact that it has a dev team that is not only dedicated to it, but also the greater altcoin community. Impressive work all around, and I never said - but congratulations on being an uncle!
