Please guys Be aware from this this. Here you can see some scam accusation against them.

Pending Scams (exercise caution using these sites):

Reference: [EDU] List of Bitcoin Scam Sites

paxful.comReference - Reference 2 - Reference 3

You can see a response to all of those issues here by someone who wrote a thorough report on scams:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1658629

As mentioned:

I. IN GENERAL:
1. Before you even fund your account - enable 2FA (SMS or Google Authenticator) for ALL available options through the security tab in your profile (link);
2. Never release bitcoins from escrow, if you have not received the payment! EVER!
3. Do not be fooled by 100% green reputation. Always do your due diligence and check the users that left the reps. If they are reputable with more than 100 deals and more than 10BTCs traded - then you have a legit trader.
4. If you receive a suspicious looking email from help@paxful.com - bad English, bad grammar, etc - try to reply to it! If you get a mail-delivery-subsystem message (link) then the message was not sent from the original mailbox, it just used an mx record to look like it was.
5. Never click on links received in the emails from point 4;
6. When posting a Trade, always require the user to at least has verified phone number/email address, 10+ BTC trades, and to be trusted (there is an option for that)!

*Note - I am not in any way affiliated with Paxful, nor am I their employee!

Most of the issues occur when people fall for false links, do not have 2FA or go for trades that are way too good to be true. We will be looking into other means by which we can keep our users safe.

Paxful is a great place to sell bitcoins!

Really? I think it's a great place to get scammed. There are plenty of buyers in paxful offering shady methods. There are so much paypal scams, fake gift cards, and other scammy modes of dealing there. The problem here is that you'll have to really be aware of scams. The best probably here is cash only or those that send money directly to you.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Such things can often take place on a P2P markets such as our site or any other site. Even a site like eBay would have huge problems of similar nature if it was not for PayPal's Charge back service, which Bitcoin does not have. We are doing our best to improve our members knowledge and have included a new 3 part tutorial guide that covers the basic on selling, placing orders as well as safety tips when dealing with people based on the different payment methods.

Please make sure you read over them before attempting to sell. Always educate yourself and learn about the risks. Our support team are always happy to give you tips as well if you are ever in doubt.

To celebrate our launch of the new Bitcoin Kiosk widget, we have put together some signatures, information, tutorials and other sources of information to better help you understand the process and benefits!

WHO WE ARE?

Paxful was established on January 2015 by a group of bitcoin enthusiasts with a diverse background ranging from development of financial infrastructures to full stack web development, system administrators and technical system developers. When it comes to Security and scalability, we focus on the bigger picture. You can see our team on the Paxful about page. Since then we have continued to provide our marketplace to customers all around the world. People come to our marketplace due to its simple, diverse range of method by which you can buy and/or sell Bitcoins. We have provided our service to nearly half a million people from all across the world. Furthermore, we have an outstanding customer service base working around the clock that are always eager to answer any questions or enquiries which you may have.

You can see our sales portfolio categorised based on region on CoinDance.

OUR SOLUTION

Paxful is supported and operated by people like yourself. Those who care about Bitcoin and its ability to free the people from the current financial ties. To do this, we understand and accept the following issues currently facing the Bitcoin environment and newcomers looking to be a part of this revolutionary technology:

Obtaining Bitcoin is not so easy when considering the global scale.
Safety and security can be an issue when dealing with a peer to peer marketplace.
Education and tutorials on Bitcoin are lacking.
We must see past the traditional payment methods and allow people to buy and sell Bitcoin through any means available to them.
The process of purchasing Bitcoins must be clear and fun to allow newcomers to feel a joy when becoming a part of it.

At Paxful we have taken it upon ourselves to find the best solutions when it comes to these obstacles or barriers of entry. Our solutions include an easy to use platform where buyers and sellers can choose from over 300 payment methods. Users can also suggest new methods directly through the platform.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Our platform operates similarly to those of eBay, OpenBazaar and other classified based websites. Sellers and Buyers list their ads - or in our case, their offers - within our marketplace. Anyone from around the world then has the opportunity to browse through the many offers and choose the one that suits their payment method and amount. Each person can further customise their offer with conditions of payment, timeframe and desireable global locations where the offer is made available.

Once an ideal deal has been found, the trade can start. This initiates a live chat with the person and Bitcoin is frozen in escrow for safety until the payment has been made. All funds held in escrow or wallets are secured by BitGo, the leading Bitcoin security provider responsible for some of the largest Bitcoin platforms. Once the process is complete, the Bitcoin can be withdrawn to an external wallet and the seller can enjoy their payment method, whether it be a gift card, cash deposit, online wallet - such as PayPal - or debit card - such as a Visa debit card.
For your convenience and security, we have put together a 3 part tutorial on how to use the wallet, sell or place an order. These tutorials also include some safety tips on all four categories - online wallets, debit cards, gift cards and cash deposits.

HOW TO SELL TUTORIALS

Part I: Using and Loading Your Paxful Wallet
Part II: Validating Profiles, Selling Directly, Safety Tips
Part III: Creating an Offer & Incoming Trade, Safety Tips

THE BENEFITS

In some cases, such as gift cards, you reap the benefits of being able to sell your Bitcoin above the market price. In some cases, people have been able to sell their Bitcoin for up to 1.5x the market value! As always, be cautious, as there are some buyers looking to take advantage of sellers. Please take a look at our three part tutorial that we have put together outlining safety methods and practices.

PAXFUL PARTNER PROGRAM - START YOUR OWN BITCOIN KIOSK

Also we recently launched a new promotion to bring out our Bitcoin Kiosk aimed at providing more benefits for our sellers. Our Bitcoin Kiosk widget has been designed with the end-user in mind and as such we have made the process as simple as one, two, three.

Follow the steps on our Bitcoin Kiosk page, setup and customise your link then share it via your blog, social media or email list. People can then use this to purchase bitcoins directly from your own customised affiliation link. Reap 2% of every purchase made. It's easy and we have everything prepared - buttons, banners, custom links.

Thank you for the interest in our campaign and if you have any comments, questions or suggestions, please don't hesitate to say something.

Never used it, but you can visit their thread.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=226891.0

I suggest checking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1730551.0 which is the latest discussion thread about their services . From the look of it , the fees looks high and the guy also stated that he tried it last year and from the news page on their website , the last news was on March 2016  . You should see If the website is always working and active otherwise I wouldn't recommend going with it.

Thank you so much! Sorry, i guess i should have checked for a thread before asking. Regardless, thanks for the feedback Smiley

8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ride a cab with bitcoin on: January 27, 2017, 11:11:20 AM
OK guys... so I had a chat with one of my Italian Facebook friends, and he confirmed that Cooperativa RadioTaxi 3570 is not accepting direct payments in Bitcoin. They are using a third party payment gateway. Users can pay with Bitcoin, and the driver will receive this payment in fiat. The drivers doesn't even know that the original payment was in Bitcoin.

If that is the case, you may as well use a bitcoin debit card and gain access to anywhere where visa/mastercard is accepted and claim the same thing for many purchases. I think its more of a PR campaign instead of boosting bitcoin itself. It would be nice if the drivers were given a choice to keep a percentage of the bitcoin for themselves or something along those lines. Creating an actual economy out of it, instead of just dumping it straight back into fiat.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ride a cab with bitcoin on: January 26, 2017, 02:29:15 PM
I was going to ask if they only service Rome, but i can see they offer their services throughout Italy through another organisation. This is really nice and i hope to see more examples across Europe. Thanks a lot for sharing this. It would be nice to see people getting a discount for using Bitcoin, given it makes life easier for both parties.

If you read the article you can read it there that the taxi company operates in over 50 cities in whole Italy. Just imagine the impact of bitcoins in Italy. The taxis aside from accepting bitcoins will be one of the best promoters and advertisers of bitcoin in the area. Sooner or later it will not be just Italy that will have cabs accepting bitcoins I am expecting major cities around the globe will follow.

If you read my post you can read that i mentioned after a second read i saw that they offer the services throughout Italy Smiley

I dont believe Italy will set the scene for other countries to follow to be honest. I dont believe they have that much of an influence over other nations policies. Nevertheless it is a great idea.

As someone mentioned, i would much prefer if this was implemented within Uber or something, rather than support the already expensive and corrupt taxi companies.

Not sure if you are trying to boost your status, but this link is from APR 1, 2014 7:03 AM PT

I am not sure if this site is still alive today since I also want to purchase smartphones on this site.

http://www.pcworld.com/article/2138340/online-mall-square-market-latest-to-accept-bitcoin.html

Why the dedication to this site in particular? You can use many other websites to buy a "smartphone" using Bitcoin. Even amazon could be used with purse.io

How can we overcome this monopoly? How does this effect the whole concept of "decentralization"?

It's because humans are idiots and think that the new boss will be different than the old boss.

Bitcoin doesnt change anything fundamental about humans, it's just an instrument that can be used for good or bad.

Just like a nuke, it can be used to stop asteroids from hitting earth, or it can be used to destroy Hiroshima. It's humans choice.

So Bitcoin will probably be used for evil too, it is already being used by scammers, and who knows who. So people who think that BTC will solve everything are stupid.

It's humans that are the problem not Bitcoin.

What you said reminded me of this quote:

"If the wrong man uses the right means, the right means work in the wrong way." This Chinese saying stands in sharp contrast to our belief in the "right" method irrespective of the one who applies it. In reality, everything depends on the person & little or nothing on method. The method is merely the path, the direction taken by a man; the way he acts is the true expression of his nature ~CG Jung Alchemical Studies

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will segwit be activated? on: January 26, 2017, 12:58:47 PM
I would not trust an investors opinion on this (barry silbert, ownership stake in blockstream, BTCC and coindesk, while being involved in hyperledger(bankers ledger) too) as they obviously have their own agenda. What ever happens, i really hope this does not follow the same theme as ETH.

This might sounds a bit silly to ask, but why was this not thought about a while back before we had the whole world watching?

i edited your post to show another thought you should also be thinking about.. why btcc was instantly waving happy flags for segwit.. even before actually peer reviewing and making their own node that had the rules set in october

Cheers for that. Very interesting actually. I have no idea what to make of it and i will do some research about what you mentioned. If that was the case, then what do you make of it? Do you have any links i could read up on in relation to what you mentioned?

google: barry silbert blockstream - top answer
Thrilled to invest in @Blockstream alongside a fantastic group of forward thinking global investors

google: barry silbert BTCC

to put it short. the whole list of his 'stakes'/investment
http://dcg.co/network/

barry silbert owns DCG (digital currency group) which then has investment/advisory/chairman board seat demands of many groups
you will see he is the guy behind "consensus 2016"
Quote
Consensus 2016 Hackathon will be held during Consensus 2016, a 2nd annual blockchain technology summit, in collaboration with Digital Currency Group (DCG), the blockchain industry’s most active investor.

this is why coindesk is very biased and in favour of companies owned by barry silbert(DCG) because coindesk is ownd by him

then check out DCG hyperledger

barry silbert to bitcoin/blockchain world.. is like rupert murdock to the fiat world

Firstly, my apologies for asking something that was in the top search of google. I usually get frustrated when the answer is a google search away and people ask for links, so in short, sorry for getting you to do that.

I am really shocked by this collective group. So many company names in the network that i individually would stay away from but to see they are all under the same umbrella is quite concerning! The R3 initiative and Hyperledger seem to follow the same path - correct me if i am wrong. They could easily turn into the next google or facebook, fishing for information and passing them onto government organisations to monitor and analyse.

How can we overcome this monopoly? How does this effect the whole concept of "decentralization"?
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could bitcoin prevent crime? on: January 25, 2017, 04:27:55 PM
The best example of this i can give is in relation to terrorism. A great concept of this on a local level is that people get involved with crime due to the lack of choices. So say George wants to open a business and support his family, but due to bureaucracy and corruption in the local government - this happens a lot in some parts of Africa, also Afghanistan and many other locations - he is unable to open the business rapidly. It can take up to 3 months in some parts of the world! So we introduce bitcoin. Now the guy can automatically earn money without needing a bank, permission or paper work. So the next step is the business itself. With more and more services coming around, people will be able to bypass normal standards and open a business purely on the blockchain jurisdiction. Meaning they do not need to turn to crime or other means out of desperation to support their families.

This is a very basic example but it does portray the message correctly. A lot of crime comes from the lack of choice one has to support oneself leading them to make desperate moves to bypass their circumstances.

Its very interesting reading over different perspectives on this. Some claim that Segwit has a lower vote than what reality portrays. I think its a great solution and it seems the most dedicated users on here are supporting it. I would not trust an investors opinion on this (Roger Ver) as they obviously have their own agenda. What ever happens, i really hope this does not follow the same theme as ETH.

This might sounds a bit silly to ask, but why was this not thought about a while back before we had the whole world watching?
