Sorry if this has been explained before but many people in the past couple of pages have been saying they are getting 200..400..600MHash/s.  Is that correct?  I thought mining with a single video card would be producing KHash/s and not MHash/s like bitcoin.

Currently I have:

AMD 7970: ~600KHash/s
AMD 7870: ~350KHash/s
AMD 5870: ~350KHash/s.

Technically I am running ~1.3MHash/s now.. so I doubt someone with a AMD 7770 is getting 200MHash/s but maybe I am totally missing out.  Moved from bitcoin mining to Litecoin yesterday.  Started with notroll pool but realized they have major issues paying out but in less than a day I got 2 LTC which seems about right.

..and of course after checking the litecoin calculator I come up with ~470 LTC a day if you ran 200MHash/s.. so I'm 99.9999% sure everyone else is misspeaking.

I am p2pool mining BTC with an AMD 7770  and I am getting 220 MHash/s. I was getting 200 I got 20 more after a few tweaks in cgminer. I am also curious about what other people are getting with this card and what they are doing for said results.

Can someone explain to me why the jalapeņo or ASIC in general wont work on p2pool.

I was wondering if it is better to use multiple threads or one? Cgminer uses  two by default (at least for me).

I am new to bitcoins and even newer to p2p. I am gpu mining with cgminer and I noticed it is mining with two threads. Would it be better to mine with one thread? I am getting 200 MH/s with a 7770 I am told that is as good as gets. Also what does the below quote mean and should I be doing it to make sure I stay updated, and if so how?
EDIT I am using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (which is also very new to me)

"Run the latest code: you can run something like the bash script I run by cron everyday to restart p2pool after updating it when there's a new version available. You'll need to know how to install p2pool from git, create a "pool.sh" script to run your node"

If my calculations are correct, 12Mh/s means 1 valid share each 5.5 days.
Do you mind explaining to a noob what formula you used to come up with that.
1200MH/s require ~ 1.3 hours to get a share. 12Mh/s means 100 times less, so it requires 100 times more time to get a share. That means 130 hours or 5.4 days.
Thanks

edit: Is there a way to check your how your miner is doing remotely(not at home)?

I'm mining with 12mhs
How many shares of the required difficulty are you getting a day?

Do I need to adjust the difficulty? I was told in a previous post the shares aren't good unless the difficulty is at least 1200.

Hey guys my hash is very low (I'm cpu mining waiting on my jalapeno). I've had 5 shares accepted in the last hour using ufasoft cpu miner but none of them show up on the stat page (127.0.0.1:9332). The p2p shell says local dead on arrival Shares:0  0 orphans 0 stale. The local hash rate will temporarily go up after a share is accepted but goes back to zero.I suspect I'm just too slow for p2p any help or education would be appreciated.
RTFM.
P2pool is counting only high diff shareas (atm over 1200) not sd=1 shares. SD! shares are only to count hash ratio. CPU mining is useless.

I'm building a machine this week that I should be able to get about 200 MH/s out of the gpu. Is that enough to mine on the p2p pool and do I need to do anything to up the difficulty of submitted shares or is it just a luck thing?

476  Other / Beginners & Help / HHTT mining pool changes? on: April 13, 2013, 05:40:50 AM
I am very new to mining I found a pool I like  HHTT and love it. But recently there have been some changes And I would like someone  to explain them to me. PPLNS in particular vs the old PPS. My hash rate is below 2 M/hs right now but I am almost finished building a machine that should give me 450 M/hs and I am waiting for two BFL Labs Jalapeno rigs which should put me at a healthy 9000 M/hs when or if they ever come. But someone please tell me I'm not wasting my time trying to stay loyal to fireduck and his pool.BTC
