Hey I'm still curious about the multisig abuse. Why would someone create a multisig address that nobody has the keys for, in essence locking those funds up forever? Are they just a nuisance (spam) or is there some kind of malicious intent I'm not seeing here?
Also how would you know if nobody has the keys for the multisig? Is there some kind of verification on your part? I don't how that would work. For example, a 1-of-20 multisig where the first key is the real owner, and the other 19 are strings of data that can't even be valid keys. They only need the 1 valid key to spend it later. Last question then I'll drop it. What is the motivation? What is the point for the strings of "junk data". Are they just trying to embed spam type messages in the blockchain? Again forgive my lack of imagination here... EDIT: This article answers some of the questions I have. I didn't even consider some of the uses talked about in the article such as: “Most controversial [are] things like Counterparty and Mastercoin”, said Coinwall’s Ortutay. “They try to use the block chain as a datastore for various protocols, where things like bids/asks are embedded in bitcoin transactions.” http://www.coindesk.com/new-forms-spam-bloat-bitcoins-block-chain/I'm sure the use of blockchain type systems/technology is whatever people want it be but yes it would be better if they would use their own side chain to do their dirty work. Ultimately it's up to the miners to decide what transactions they want to include in their blocks, so with that said I will be at the next discussion Elgius has about the pools policies. Thanks for putting up with my curiosity.

Well that didn't do it. I'll just wait for the RPi.
I suspect because of the manual install I’m having some kind of php issue with the server itself. Then again it could be...... Oh whatever, again I'll just wait for the Rpi.
Thanks

Hey CrazyGuy have you been successful at getting minera to run on Ubuntu? I was trying to test it out to get familiar with it and could not get it up and running.
It was the manual install on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and all I got was minerd isn't running. I did compile my own cgminer and put it in the minera-bin directory but no luck. I know this isn't the minera thread but I thought maybe you would know something.

I have a question about creating raw transactions.
If you are not spending the entire amount and don't want all of the change to go to the miners how do you tell QT how much change you want back and where to send it?
Here is an example from the testnet:
createrawtransaction '[{"txid":"483d3ddb086a5be6bdcccb4712bf7d84451af6a2a980c918e1d68eb0eec22725","vout":0,"scriptPubKey":"a914cf0d767ae8d9125b7d843112f8b8c07b333d4ac887","redeemScript":"5321034bdd619568d26a20d00a50e7c351f596c42e148cfdb099e317b2e2c553e1345d210230fd7 1e63947197589e706c2e0fb6aa05eae20fee2f92c2ffdacef252ea6afb52103ef21373b0a9e89bc f2a4e8481516c4849080a4d1f62b1b532445e5def3a4755d53ae"}]' '{"mxiuyocweZ6rPsLrGaR8wgsafHXnTcRBhU":0.05}'
EDIT: After doing some more homework I realize I have a lot more homework....

Just a tip. Thread jacking probably isn't the best way to inspire trust or promote your services. I realize you're upset GrapeApe after me refunding your escrow due to you displaying less than sensible behavior. I'd highly recommend anyone look very closely at any escrow service before sending your coins anywhere. Especially in this instance...
I'm not trying to hijack your thread and yes I am still upset about how things went down. All I'm suggesting is people could still use your services but in different manner. It's not my website and I'm not offering any services. I'll stay out now...

If there is a key used that no one on the planet has the private key for (ie, junk data) then that is a misuse.
Now forgive my lack of imagination but what's the point of the "junk data"?

- Standard transactions:
- OP_RETURN: allow up to 80 bytes
Hello Luke-Jr pardon my ignorance & my french Does that mean that Eligius will allow counterparty-XCP transactions (if encoded in OP_RETURN) or do you still plan to filter them out (I think you are treating them like spam because they're still multisig transactions) ? [/list] OP RETURN would be appropriate. Abusing multisig is not. So for those who aren't entirely sure what they're talking about (myself) what would constitute a violation of multisig? And how would this affect using a p2sh wallet? Or does this have nothing to do with p2sh wallets? Multisig is fine. Hiding data by pretending it is multisig when it is not, is a problem. The conclusive results do nothing to hinder P2SH multisig use. Well forgive my ignorance as well but what are they using the data stored in the tx for and how does multisig make this happen as oppose to a standard tx. I guess I'm asking the same thing (or further explanation of). What constitutes a violation of multisig?

Just a friendly PSA why trust a stranger with your funds? Go to https://www.bitrated.com/ for true trustless multisig escrow. I'll help anyone (free of charge) if they don't understand how to use it. GrapeApe How can we trust the site? I know its multisig address, is it 2 of 2 or 2 of 3, both would be good? But still even if it 2 of 3, what if you run away with 1 private key(not telling you will)? So in everything, you need to trust someone! I hope you understand what I meant! ~~MZ~~ Actually you don't have to trust anyone. Best case scenario is 2 of 3 Use your own keys as oppose to the site generated put a time limit on it so the btc is returned if 2 members defect with the keys. Still fuzzy on that part so I struck though it. The third party can be someone like Ognasty if a dispute arises. No trust needed... I must concede that some level of trust is necessary but but on a micro scale compared to the norm here and that’s why you would choose someone like Ognasty to be the 3rd party. EDIT: All of this can be done using bitcoin-qt without the site at all. Some skills are needed to create and send the raw transactions but I tested it last night. I created a multisig using addresses from 3 different wallet.dat files. I was able to fund it and release the coins. Looking for quick sale. Open to offers!
I'll take it .3 BTC. I'll pay shipping and escrow.

I appreciate everyone’s pm's and warnings and I suspect most were correct. He was supposed to ship out the psus on Friday but I haven’t heard anything from him since Friday. I did use escrow with Ognasty so I’m not to worried about it.
I'm not ready to label him as a scammer just yet. Maybe he has a valid reason but he's definitely shady and all should be cautious while dealing with him.
I wish I could find the post but I'm pretty sure I read he is 16 years old and no offence to all the kiddies out there but I only want to business with adults in this manner.
Hope to hear something soon...
GrapeApe
Have you heard from him yet? Yes I have but the deal has been cancelled. Bitcoin returned... EDIT: I wanted to add that he seems like a good kid and probably has a good heart but he definitely moves on his own schedule so things with him will eventually happen but who knows when. I can't fault him for that I'm sure I was the same way at 18.

Hey I'll take the 2x Thermaltake 1375W ATX PSUs $259.98. I'll pay my own shipping but can I have an extra Bitmain PSU Jumper (3 total)?
GrapeApe
Sure, not a problem. PM sent I could just order them from your website if you could somehow do a special promo code or something.

Even more good news.
Should have known you were already on it.
Thanks for going the extra mile here.

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet. ASICMINER has released their branch of cgminer: https://github.com/blockerupter/cgminerThis branch supports both Tube and Prisma, you'll need AM's USB adapter to connect to your USB port. A random CP2102X usb to uart adapter might work as well if you can customize the adpater by adding a pull resistor to the TXD. How to build: - ./autogen.sh
- ./configure --enable-blockerupter
- make
There's also a win32 binary here: https://mega.co.nz/#!NY1FQbqB!4HFdFED73LbtrdNLU9ixJ-3asjmI1jhwc-7Qik9_x3wHow to run: No extra command line parameters are needed. The Tube or Prisma will be identified as "BET" in cgminer. ./cgminer -o YOUR_POOL -u WORKER -p PASSWORD

I've received notice that batch 1 is shipping now. If all goes well, I should have some units in hand and ready to ship early next week. Batch 2 and 3 are estimated to ship October 16th.
Oh man that is good news! I truly didn't expect them to be so punctual... Thanks CrazyGuy.

You're kidding right? You're offering $90 at current btc price and asking me to pay shipping. No Thanks... Just a side note to everyone else: I've bought and sold a several things on this forum and why is it no matter if I'm buying or selling everybody always ask me to pay shipping. I will pay half which is pretty generous as far as I'm concerned...
