3 Prismas on RPi with CrazyGuys Minera fork now for 35 hours hashing perfectly!!! At the pool of my choice Eligius. I am still on the block erupter for now, mining on GHASH.io, I set the difficulty to 2048 on Ghash.io. Good idea or not? Will this not do anything on the BE?
Should be fine unless they hit some really quick blocks. GHASH will accept any difficulty so you might as well just set it to 1470. Some have suggested that raising the diff will help with lowering duplicates at GHash I don't know if there is anything to that though. Others have suggested that the Prisma doesn't handle vardiff that well and think that setting a higher diff can help but I don't know if there is anything to that either. With all that said like CrazyGuy said unless they find a block really quickly it shouldn't hurt. I asked once already but it got lost in the thread. What is the system load in Minerea actually measuring? Mine are always yellow and didn't know if I should be concerned and would using a wired connection vs wifi lower the system load? |

Hello,
I opened a support ticket many days ago but have had no response so trying on here. When you first come the website it says in BIG letters "You do not need to (and cannot) register an account on Eligius." but now it wants me to log in to track the status of my support query....have I missed something?
My original question went something like this.....
I am very new to mining (how many times must support emails start with that line?) but on reading your site, you list Blockchain as one of the compatible wallets, so that is what I used (an online wallet rather than downloading full blockchain). However, I now understand that since I have used a Blockchain wallet address as my mining address with this pool, I cannot sign the message in bitcoin-qt to change my settings to add a NMC address - or make any other changes for that matter, such as changing the pay out threshold.
I see that one cannot have funds moved to a new address and I understand that policy, so all I can think is that I must withdrawn my funds to the Blockchain wallet and start a new mining account with a Bitcoin-qt address (effectively delete old account and start again) but that has at least 2 issues as I see it: -
1. I will have to start again and so have lost the last week building up my rewarded shares percentage.
2. How do I access the Namecoins already mined during this time?
Is there another way around this please? I have tried adding my Blockchain address to the bitcoin-qt address book but it will not let me verify the message giving the error message "Private key for entered address is not available".

I can't speak about most of your post but you can't simply add the BTC address to QT and expect to sign a message. That would mean the whole signature process is NOT secure. You have to importprivkey "bitcoinprivkey" I don't know if blockchain gives you the private key or not. Go to the console of QT and issue the command above once you have added the private key you have to -rescan in order for it to all work. |

I've received a photo of the adapter that has been created for connecting to a RPi. The interface is USB, so that's good news.  I will ship overseas, but I can not estimate a price as I don't have package dimensions. The weight will be somewhere around 8kg. Hey CrazyGuy (or anyone else with a clue), I assume (we both know what that means) the signals used are RX, TX, GND. Looking at the picture, what are the left most and right most pins on the little white connector? In a moment of weakness, I bought a CP2102 USB-UART adapter off of Amazon for ~$9 ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CD264HG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ). Hang is it has 6 pins (fortunately they're labeled on the PCB) if I knew the pin out on that board I can jumper the correct pins on the one in hand. This would give all concerned a second source for the USB-UART boards. Thanks bro' Here you go but I don't think it's going to work (I hope it does). Something to do with 9 data bits vs 8 max that the CP2102 chip handles. RX

If these are controlled the same as the Tubes - which seems likely since they run on Tube controllers as well - you would need a USB-UART adapter's RX, TX and GND lines. I think it's a 3V3 signal voltage. But the actual protocol was a nine-data-bits, I think no parity, at 460800 baud, which isn't a mode that many converters support. I'd be surprised if the one he bought would do it, based on what Novak turned up while working on RPi support before AM released their cgminer stuff.
If that's true then no it probably won't work. It will be here tomorrow. I'll post results but doesn't look promising if what you're saying is correct. It never came order was cancelled by amazon.

So the hypothesis is that with the extra board count attached to the BE (versus a single 24x Tube) causes it overheat and freak out.
I just took it out of case and put a 40mm fan over it.
Am and have been a big fan of the 1300's, they're just a little pricey compared to a 1800W-2500W server supply.
We have 5 or 6 1300's here in our environment, they whirr quietly and do their job.
98% of expected @ what clock rate?
At 240 Sorry your still having problems. It's warm here today I have the window A/C going in the mining room but still no resets. Still at 98% all boards alive. |

Everything you are describing is what I was experiencing even the fake hashing. I find that the BEController is very sensitive and it is the culprit here. I moved the controller to a COLD SPOT and problems disappeared for me. Put it somewhere cool. The EVGA 1300 G2 is just fine with the cable configuration talked about several pages back it's how I'm powering all 3 of my Prismas.
I've been hashing now at 98% of expected for over 36 hours no problems now whatsoever. HWe is 0.33%

So handles out, put the controller in a cool spot, maybe stand it up like Phillip said, if you are continuing to have issues maybe try a different wall adapter/psu for the controller.
I hope I'm not premature with my celebration here but everything continues to run as normal now. I knew it was the controller...
I wanted to add that CrazyGuy must have an infinite source for patience, he has gone above and beyond when it comes to dealing with my constant questions and reports as to what has been going on. I'm not an easy person to deal with and he has given no indication to the fact.

It's getting cold this weekend? I'm starting to think issues being reported are heat related. The unit I had brought up from you has been running without issue since I powered it on 10 hours ago. The first thing I did when I received your unit is tighten any loose screws. Next I flipped the handles around to give the outside chips some breathing room.
For those still experiencing issues after doing these 2 things, I suggest moving the units to a cooler environment or lowering the clock freq.
I kinda knew that one was a good unit when I started getting the same results after pulling it out of the chain later that evening. My room is not warm though it has a window A/C and stays at a comfortable 76 degrees. I know 50 would be better. I'm not ruling out the heat theory these things may not like 76 degrees. I had a few Lucko chili boards in the past and some would reset if it was too hot and others would reset if it was too cold (strange I know). What I did last night was just let it go, instead of forcing boards to come alive by rebooting the controller or cycling the psus. They did the reset cycle several times but then just on it's own it just stopped resetting and started hashing with PwrDn at 0 and HWe at .43%. They have been up now for 14 hours no resets at all hashing at 2.89 TH/s again.
I was thinking a lot about the controller it can handle 5volts to around 13volts. There is a voltage regulator inside of it. I know the real voltage is closer to 5 volts then 12 volts.
so if you feed it 12 volts the regulator will make a bit more heat.
When I used the controller with 5 volts 1amp I let it stand up.. kept it cooler
EDIT: You may be on to something this started about the same time I moved my controller and it is in a warmer spot. |

anyone else have issue where the prisma comes up great but within in hour it just keeps losing hash down to like 700gh/s? I am using the BE controller atm until adapters arrive
Yep a few of us are. At this point I'm waiting for the adapter to see what happens on the RPi with Minera. |

Check the board for loose or missing screws. Also look for shorts. A big issue with the cubes was excessive Flux and sometimes solder flakes getting stuck to the board and shorting out compenents. I haven't seen this with the prisma/tube's yet, but worth giving a lookover.
Wow I should know better. Every screw was loose (literally all of of them). Been hashing now for 2 hours no spikes in HWe's and no board resets. Wish I would have thought of that yesterday. Will keep you updated. Damn... EDIT: Well that was a premature celebration HWe just spiked and boards started resetting. The common denominator here is the controller there is no way this many boards are defective. |

@CrazyGuy The above post is exactly what I've been dealing with. I think it's the BEController as oppose to defective boards. Look at the previous image his first prisma in the chain has completely reset and look at the HWerror rates of the boards that are alive. Also he is missing all together board 12 which sometimes happens as well when boards start resetting.
