" even though I have a few gbytes in the wallet/address. What could be wrong? Don't be confused between "wallet" and "address". Your few Gbytes must be on a change address within you wallet. Move all your bytes to your "main" (aka linked) Byteball address. [edit] oups... read in the meantime that you fixed the problem.
