I'm glad that awareness is being rised
1262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitBar Didn't Pre-Mine, they were just conveniently ready on: May 05, 2013, 08:00:49 PM
I do agree that launching a new coin should be made public atleast 7 days before the actual launch. Preferably couple of pools set up and an exchange to support it. Distributing the binaries and sources in a AES encrypted 7zip or rar package and finally revealing the key at specific already widely known time.

We just haven't seen this method yet, hopefully it comes the standard some day.

Even fairer than that, would be to launch the coin but only on a 'testnet' so people could practise mining it etc. You could even argue every coin is a scam coin for not doing these things.

public mining test.  this follows good SDLC practices.  Provide a User Acceptance Test of the cin.  Give it a window of one week, gather data and release it.  I like it!

Sounds good to me as well, finally mr random is using his senses, kudos

Sounds like an interesting idea, you mean calculate all solutions and possible scenarios for a random chess game?

Anybody know how many different games can be played using all possible movements? chess could be hacked that way lol

So the solution is to monitor the ANN 24/7 to not miss the boat?

Some people are just too retarded.

Thats what a lot of people do. Sorry if you dont have time to monitor, that means you missed the boat. Lol

What you describe happens with most coins that launch

Let's look at some other coins:

Feathercoin launched with difficulty 0
Terracoin launched with difficulty 1 (just as low as 0 in effect)
Chinacoin launched with difficulty 0
Novacoin launched with difficulty 0

etc

What you describe happens with most SCAMcoins that launch
1267  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTB] The BitBar Information Thread on: May 05, 2013, 07:18:05 PM
It is less scam than some other altcoins but it is still a scam.

1. 60 blocks after the genesis block were premined
2. Difficulty for the first 735 blocks was so low that it can't even be shown on the explorer
3. For the premine period, 59.644201 BTB were generated in little less than 4 minutes
4. For the difficulty under 0.001 period excluding the premine period, 600.324139 BTB were created in little more than 20 minutes

http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/chain/BitBar?hi=736&count=737

Addressed here.

Nice attempts at justifying the scam, but they won't work except with complete retards. It would be cool to see judge reaction on your saying "I killed the guy because
that other killed some other guy earlier and ended (seemingly) unpunished".

If you are going to criticize the difficulty at launch, then it's a larger issue with the launch of many/most altcoins (early adopter advantage). Why single bitbar out? The premine appears to be an honest mistake and the guy isn't profiting off of it.

Why set difficulty at 0 if the purpose of the bitbar is to be very rare and hard to get? Creator couldnt have been so naive  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Official announcement on this board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=193519.0 Time: 05:30:04 PM

Announcement: 17:30:04
First Block mined: 17:32:10 (Difficulty 0.00) (Reward 1 Bitbar per block)
First Hundred blocks: 17:33:24
First 200 blocks: 17:36:16
First 300 blocks: 17:39:42
First Thousand blocks: 18:01:22
First 2000 blocks: 18:40:45 (Difficulty 0.012) (Reward 0.528202 per block)
.
.
.
.
Current Block 6000 (Difficulty 15.291) (Reward 0.164687 per block)

So from the time that it was announced to the time someone has time to read the announcement, download the client and configure the .config you need at least 15 minutes, by that time 500 Bitbar were already in the hands of the creator and the people that was aware before the announcement.

Now take into account that the reward is rapidly decreasing, the "conveniently ready miners" are hoarding a huge ammount of bitbars which were easily mined right after the announcement:

Here's one of said wallets:

Ymer, so now you have a problem with people mining the coin AFTER the coin has been publicly announced and it's fair game for anyone to mine? Dear God.

Everyone knows the hour or two when a coin launches you get a ton of coins at a silly rate. It's the early adopter advantage. While you are studing Blockchains, look at the most recent coin favourite - Feathercoin, approximately 200k created in the first 2 hours. This is one reason why you get people with hundreds of thousands of Litecoins, PPCoins etc.

That's curious that you don't call it pre-mining:

Official announcement on this board:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=193519.0 Time: 05:30:04 PM

Announcement: 17:30:04
First Block mined: 17:32:10 (Difficulty 0.00) (Reward 1 Bitbar per block)
First Hundred blocks: 17:33:24
First 200 blocks: 17:36:16

No Pre-mine?
1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTB] The BitBar Information Thread on: May 05, 2013, 06:55:01 PM
Here's another finding, that wallet transfered almost all his coins to this other address, I think he has some good stash of coins in different wallets with different miners:

1271  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BTB] The BitBar Information Thread on: May 05, 2013, 06:51:40 PM
Creator said that it accidentaly mined 60 and then gave them away, this is true and here's the wallet: http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/BNu1hLYzku3Cw5GfQwEjVgF6F38L6jh1Ge

However as soon as the coin was released this happens:

And look at this wallet: http://btb.cryptocoinexplorer.com/address/BKvC5MojhFX9UVDbMhEcpS2T1WYDxHRkCP

Oh look, right after the release one single handendly mined the next 140 blocks alone, then moar people joins and after 28 minutes he already owns 250 bitbars.

That's not pre-mining at all, just sheer luck  Roll Eyes, he was just lucky to mine around 250 BTC in 20 minutes after selling.

Nice 25k USD profit for a weekend project and some insider to announce the coin (Remember creator wants to remain annonymous)  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

If you know how to read those numbers you will LOL hard.

Correction: Huge rewards in the first 2000 blocks that were mined in 12 hrs.
1274  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Total BTB vs. Time on: May 05, 2013, 05:44:55 PM
BitBar guys just copy and paste these facts to the trolls:

- There was 5 minutes of premining done in error by the tester - those bitbars are being donated as a bounty towards the exchange. See the official launch topic. The graph is the entire coins produced, not of the accidental pre-mine (it was only 60 BTB) Sure bud, blockchain indicates otherwise
- The difficulty for Feathercoin was also at 0. In fact several coins launched that way You are proving the point that SCAMCOINS gonna SCAM
- As with most new coin launches on the first day a huge amount get created for the super early adopters (2 million for PPCoin, 200,000 in the first 2 hours for Feathercoin, many others...)So 5 minutes into the game is the new early adopters timeframe?  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Derp in bold

You obviously haven't even looked at the block chain because that is a complete lie. Why are you spreading lies or can you not read times?

Bitbar was announced at 17.30 and according to the blockchain only 5 minutes worth of mining occured prior to the announcement.

From the block explorer I see:

2013-05-02 13:56:10 to 2013-05-02 14:00:06 - Five minutes of mining (supposedly done by the tester in accident - 60BTB total)

After that nothing until 17:32:

2013-05-02 17:32:10 - First block found after 17:30 announcement on the forum

Don't use facts on sub and ymer. They ignore them.

like r3animation and mr_random ignoring post #59

substrata :No need for you to post on clone accounts, just be a happy troll.

LOL, it's cool bro, we need shills like you to defend BTB and FTC so we can all steal them bitcoins Smiley

I will still say that truth that FTC and BTB are both scams, and YES I'm mining them (but right now only BTB).

So you mine BTB too..

Do you even read? check my earlier 2 posts in this thread. Let me explain it to you again:

1. BTB is a Huge scam, it's obvious that not every single miner in the community will be able to see an announcement thread and point all miners exactly at the same time to get a big chunk of the 90% minable coins in the first year in 12 hours.

2. BTB will keep getting attention and shill threads to backup its false legitimacy (Shills and early adopters will keep defending it using "you didn't get early thus you are mad" strategy)

3. Idiots gonna idiot and still sell their worthcoins (BTC) for BTB.

4. I'm aware of all that is happening but I'm also aware that I can make more profit from said idiots selling BTC for BTB, thus I'll keep mining SCAMCOINS to make said profit from IDIOTS.

understand?

1) Same argument substrata used. So practically every coin has been a scam including, Bitcoin.

2) Bitcoin did that too.

3) That's the entire free world market. You want something, you buy it. It's not limited to BTB.

4) Doesn't that make you a scammer too then?

LMFAO.

1) sure buddy, keep defending this SCAM. So Bitcoin changed the rewuard after half day of mining LOL.

2) Bitcoin was the original coin, how do you even compare it if there were no altcoins?

3) Scamming someone in the free market is still scam, what are you even talking about?

4) Yes.
