a milion coin premine on a coin that "Starts" with block reward 1?

I'm not actualy as bothered by the premine as I am by the suggestion that you might need donations for "giveaways, faucets, whatever..."

I put the wallet just so you can drop me some of that fat stack of REC.

Grau I have read about bits of proof and some of what you went through to put it out.

I have no idea how to setup a java server environment at this time, or I probably would have tried it.  I'm way too busy trying to learn new stuff already Smiley

In any case I was still pecking around and have a client doing bitcoind -txindex=1 -rescan to see if it helps when I found the thread referenced above.

on this node with that enabled I'm able to get the information I wanted. I'm not sure if the command line switches had anything to do with it will test later ...
465  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Having a "full node" on: June 02, 2013, 04:58:04 AM
After some further reading that's pretty old stuff and I can't find that referenced branch/fork in github, I'm not sure if it exists how to find it I see only much newer stuff.

Based on having found it working in another fork (litecoin) I'm guessing it was working at some point and deprecated out of bitcoin.

bitcoin-qt is a "full node" in terms of network participation. This means it can generate and propigate blocks plus verify and relay transactions. It also has a full history of the blockchain available to it. However, by default, you can not query it for arbitrary data. Only a limited set of data is available using the standard json-rpc API. If you need additional data, you'll need to use a third party API provider, or patch your client. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=724.0

Ok thanks, especially for the link.

Is there any actual use case for the "gettransaction" function of the json-RPC api?
467  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Having a "full node" on: June 02, 2013, 01:27:17 AM
Hi I've been looking around to sort this out, and I can't find an answer.

I thought the bitcoind/bitcoin-qt clients were basically identical in function and ran a "full node" storing the entire block chain.

Is this wrong?  Even in what seem to be recent threads stating that the software is a full node but if I query it for transaction data it tells me nothing. I get an error that it doesn't have any info about that transaction, this despite saying it has the block chain.

IS there something that I'm missing, or is that information not available via JSON-RPC?  (In thich case what is gettransaction actually for?)

Also if bitcoind can't be made to operate as a "full node" what sort of software should I use?
Thanks for any help.

473  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Gold Coin (GLD) Information Thread - The Future of Digital Currency on: May 27, 2013, 08:09:34 PM
you guys are worried aabout trading WAY too much.

The coin's been around a couple of weeks, and was highly concentraded in a few hands.

Cryptsy is spreading it out.  Some traders will profit in the shuffle and some will not but in the end GLD will be in more hands, with fewer people able to manipulate the market.

It's only going to take a few more days for the people who were buying it at .000005 to double their money and stop hoarding then the market can begin to develop.

Not everything happens at INTERNET WARP SPEED. If you want to see your efforts in the real world you have to work it until more than the users of 1 forum know about your coin. Anybody know what bitcoin was trading at when it was 4 weeks old?  OK bitcoin was the first.  How about litecoin price 4 weeks after release?

The trading price at this age of the coin is irrelevant.  Volume is good and GLD is changing hands. If you're in this for anything besides flash-mining a quick buck then you need to see that it hasn't even really started yet.  Giving up now because of a couple of forum trolls or the fact that a currency with almost no infrastructure isn't trading high against the BTC is really silly.

Spread the coin, build some infrastructure - the only way to gain market cap is to bring it into the blockchain via traders (a difficult and long term process to achieve  high per-coin value on a coin used for nothing but trading) or for you to move it there by providing equivalent service and products for GLD instead of fiat.

Scrypt diff 7  is still easy.  Generous block rewards are generous. Traders are trading. What's the problem?

I'm holding about 8k gold and still buying. That's my cash into your blockchain. Are you guys going to quit on me?

475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Doubloons: Cryptocurrency for Pirates on: May 26, 2013, 04:54:21 PM

Payments are distributed when block hits 26 confirmations.
The reward is calculated accordingly to user contribution to last (10000 * doubloons difficulty)  shares submitted to pool by all users so it might take some time (even few blocks further) to get your full reward.

I'll give extra purse of doubloons to all new users with some shares submitted.
6.77 sent to you.
Other users please update your addresses.

OK great. It seems that most of the smaller pushpools still have front ends for PPS or RBPPS or whatever so the displayed stats are weird when they use PPLNS, like showing "round shares".

I just left a tiny worker on this pool for now but I did get both a block reward, and an extra block in my wallet this morning.

Thanks for bringing us a new pool!
476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Doubloons: Cryptocurrency for Pirates on: May 26, 2013, 01:30:39 AM
Has the block even matured yet? pushpools don't credit you instantly like p2pool, you usually have to wait until it matures (120 blocks on doubloons) before it's credited. At that point you shold be able to cashout.

Anyway, with a 0.13~ difficulty, unless you have a really low hash rate you're probably better off just solo mining.

I'll keep an eye out for it once the block matures and post here if it pays me.

edit: it credited me some time later, when I looked back after about 87 confirms it showed Balance: 0.63468749 DBL

This pool might need some adjustments but is functional for now.
Keep in mind that this was done for my learning purpose so there might be some holes in this ship and it may even sink but i hope to get few courage Pirates for the crew.

Reward model: Pay Per Last N Shares

Finding a block and not getting paid pretty much sunk the ship for me.

So I'm selling some Doubloons.

WDC, BTC, LTC, maybe even MNC.

Oh wth maybe even powercoins but I want a billion of them like they're GLD.

I think the best offer in the spreadsheet right now is 10 LTC/K DBL I;ll go to 8/k but I only plan to sell 100 or so.

.8 LTC or equivalent for 100 doubloons anyone?  Smiley
