The best method is to buy Bitcoin in small chunks, not the whole 1BTC right away!

But this would need you to wait till a lower price is hit, you might want to take some time to understand how a wallet works, how to keep it safe, then learn about exchanges and trading.

There is no clear cut method to identify a scammer or someone's intent to scam. Trust ratings are there which should generally guide, but any and every person can become a scammer.
