Beat The Boss multiplier was 319x for this week and someone already beat it a few hours ago. I want to congratulate to the winner, this is really very entertaining contest. I hope there will be many low x multiplier for the Beat The Boss. Low multiplier is cool and gives hope to many players like me because 1500x and similar odds look too much for me.
The current highest multi is more than 900x and the 3rd position is close to 800x, so do not hope to see low multiplier in this kind of contest.
You can try your luck though because you never know when your luck will come but stay on your limit while trying to participate.
Currently you need to hit at least 795x to be on the 3rd position, if you hit something smaller than that multiplier but you make a profit already, better to stop because forcing yourself to be one of the winner may make you lose what you have won during the process.
It's hard to reach the top without luck, so you're right, we should stick to our limits, even if we want to be at the top of the ongoing contest.
Personally, I rarely reach that level. For some reason, I've been unlucky when participating in multiplier contests. I've seen my friends achieve it several times. Honestly, it motivates me, but I know that if I pursue it without luck, I'll never achieve it, so it's better to just enjoy it.
