Translated Topic in Pidgin Language; An "ethical" mixer / swap protocol - private but not helping crime
Original Topic: An "ethical" mixer / swap protocol - private but not helping crime
Author: d5000

From discussions 4 our beloved Meta thread Mixers to be banned (link to first relevant post) I get idea 4 a mixer business model wic go fit bi both private nd also e dey safe dat e no go support criminals, at least d "big ones". Den take first idea join am with an idea by @joker_josue. Na today today I improve am a bit more according 2 d thought of other people's post 4 dat thread.

Dis mixer concept go get 2 goals:

1) 2 dey offer high privacy standards: a no-log or almost no-log (i.e. e go delete logs every day) policy, nd e no register anytin talkless of KYC checks of any kind (Except say d cases where users no dey follow d rules of d service).
2) 2 b able 2 block d coins wey come from theft nd other forms of 419, nd dem self no go get access 2 d coins. Thus dey no go force dem 2 seize them.

D mixer or swap go get d following rules:

1) Users go fit mix or swap small amounts without any KYC check. "Small amount" go actually b small, I go set d limit 4 about d same as or equal 2 $1000 per day or even smaller, perhaps only $500. Tukk.
2) D remaining users who wan mix more dan $500 or $1000 per day dem suppose go through a pre-screening of d UTXOs wey dey wan mix, na 4 a form u go do am 4 an independent website wey two different party dey operate with their idea, Where dem dey analyze UTXO wit special computer program but e no need deposit. If na from bad source or place d money com from, i.e. If e com directly from criminal sources, dem go reject am. All other coins dem get a token [1] nd dem dey allow dem 2 mix.
3) KYC go only force dem if d users deposit coins wey break d two rules, i.e. Dem dey recognize dem as high risk, more dan $500/$1000 nd d user dey deposits dem even though dey no get a token.
4) Na 4 Web form dem dey do d pre-screening where d address or the UTXO go fit  entered, or an API. Dis go ensure say d mixer never get access 2 coins wey go start an obligation 2 seize dem. Dis means say: d last coin wey u mix nd deposit  go happen only if the pre-screening don succeed or d funds bi small enough.

B4 rule 1 go work, dem get an additional rule:

5) Funds wey people dey pretend say e dey come from different users 4 one day, no fit come from d same origin address, i.e. D users no go simply try 2
Find out as "different users" nd dey go split their coins open. Dis mean say d coins wey dem mixed 4 a single day by any user (without pre-screening) no go b from d same origin.

nd dem get an important additional "rule" wey go prevent d mixer from collecting data silently:

6) D service suppose b Tor-only nd usable without JavaScript. Above all d pre-screening "service" dey go only allow am 4 a website wey get an onion address.

Example: make we assume say user get an address with 1 million USD worth of BTC. He con moves dem around during 72 hours nd den tries 2 open 1000 mixing instances 4 f mixer. D first mixing process go go through, but from d second one dem go reject all others bcos na from d same origin d coins from com.

Dey supposed get exception 4 d coins wey come from old origin addresses, 4 example if dey don split d coins already 2 months ago or more. But normally dat one no go b a problem, as all d algorithm wan make sure say dsame user go only fit mix $1000 nd dey no go pre-check am first. Dis go also prevent d situation wey somebody go receive payment some time 4 d past nd dem go mix d change coins 4 d same day d person wey paid d coins wan mix d change. However, if dem want make dat happen among d 2 users one person suppose get a very bad luck 4 dat same day nd d other person go fit mixed d coins Smiley

Wettin u dey think? I think such a mixer could be what many Bitcoin users want: 100% KYC-less for small funds mixed by retailers, and still with a high chance to be relatively "safe" from law enforcement. For criminals, the mixer would be to slow to "pre-launder" the funds through them.

Of course, d protocol go b problem 4 placee wey dem go force everybody 2 do KYC, but dem get plenty countries wey dem dey allow am.

A small detail:

[1] Technically, d token go fit b d UTXO wey d users dey provide, dem go sign am wit d certificate mixers or d entity wey dey operate d pre-check. Dis avoids say dem get any direct data connection between d pre-screening instance nd d mixer itself - bcos d mixing website go recognize d
signature of d pre-screening entity, if s UTXO bi d same one dan d one pre-screened.

Original topic: List of African Bitcoin & Cryptocurrency businesses / services
Author profile link: d5000

We don get plenty theoretic discussion about how bitcoin go take benefit African countries. I don get interest to create list of businesses and services wey dey operate from African continent.

So I go dey greatful for every hint, link, or name of African bitcoin businesses. All African countries, also Maghreb countries and island states like Cape Verde, dey allowed (except d Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla). D business model suppose dey related to Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general. Known Multilevel/pyramid schemes go fit dey listed, but e go be for separate section where d scam danger is clearly described, and e no go get “hot” link.

Original Topic: [Megathread] The long-known PoW vs. PoS debate
Author: BlackHatCoiner

Dis thread na tribute 4 all d discussion wey dem make 4 dis two mechanisms. As a PoW enthusiast, I go like 2 explain why PoS bi an inferior mechanism 4 such protocol as e loses 4 both centralization and capability 4 making consensus, two of which dey necessary 4 an innovative kind of money of this character.

But, b4 I go move onto anything, I think say e dey very important make we know wettin centralization mean. We go fit describe am as:
Quote
D action or process 4 bringing activities together 4 one place.

As u go get, centralization na one big word nd nowadays people dey misuse am either unwittingly or to favor benefits. Person go fit talk say Bitcoin bi less centralized in contrast with an altcoin, bcos dem dey distribute him hash rate more properly, but dey also dey correct as d one wey dey say e bi less centralized, bcos e get a better wealth distribution (no ICOs etc.). An other go fit say dat few pools na dem own d majority of d hash rate nd hence, e bi centralized; dey fit disagree say dem fit measure d centralization etc.

There4, We supposed make am clear wettin we mean by centralization. I go define am as:o
Quote
Centralization na d situation where few people (go) have a great affectation 2 d final outcome of our economy.

So, d more something dey centralized, d more those few go fit affect am. They're analogous values. These people go fit bi either developers or people wey dey use am regularly.

Proof of Work
How e dey take work 4 theory: (With lottery tickets as metaphor)
  • Everyone go fit generate lottery tickets.
  • Scratching those requires spending of computational power.
  • Dey no get how u go know whether d ticket na winning one unless u scratch am.
  • Each ticket get a rarity.
  • If person prove say dem scratch ticket wey get chance 4 one-in-one-trillion, dey con reveal say dey don search one trillion tickets 4 average.
  • D network decides d rarity wey dem required 4 a ticket to be a winning one.
  • Anyone wey scratch such ticket go get a reward.
  • D rarity wey dey require dey change based on d frequency of d winners.

Proof of Stake
How it works in theory:
  • People wey own cryptocurrency dem lock up their funds.
  • Dem vote by proving their financial bond 4 a digital signature. D greater d bond, d more votes dem go get.
  • D block wey get plenty votes na dat dem dey considered valid one.

A valid transaction na transaction wey complies with d consensus rules nd has been included into a block. For example, if u try to spend a transaction output wey dey don spent b4, den d transaction dey invalid bcos e no follow d rules. Satoshi Nakamoto solved d double-spending problem 4 d following way:

  • Make all d transactions go through a ledger. Any transaction wey no dey inside ledger ignore am.
  • If dem get two conflicting transactions, d "correct" one na d one wey dem published first.
  • 2 know d time, u need a timestamp server.
  • 2 have a timestamp server, dey depend on proof of work.

Dat way u go fit make sure say u validate d ledger, e no go dey present all d time. Consensus dey happen wen d transaction ordering problem is resolved 4 a decentralized way. That's essentially Bitcoin. That's the Byzantine generals' concerted strategy.

Why Proof of Stake no fit produce consensus
Punishment dey plays a big role 4 dis system. Our wealth dey self well well frm a game theory: One or more entities dem dey discourage 2 cheat. Why dat happens? Well, apart from dat:
Quote from: bitcoin.pdf, Satoshi Nakamoto
D incentive go fit help encourage nodes 2 work well well. If a greedy attacker go fit assemble more CPU power dan all d honest nodes, he go suppose choose between using am 2 defraud people by stealing back his payments, or use am 2 generate new coins. Dem go find am more profitable make e dey follow di rules, d rules wey go favour am with more new coins pass everybody else combined, dan 2 undermine d system nd d validity 4 ee own wealth
Dem also get one thing wey our fellow on remember 2 add (or emphasize): Energy. If person no behave well wit d network, dem go force dem 2 pay 4 energy whether dem succeed 4 attacking d network or dem no succeed. Den dey punish dem 4 outside d system.

Dis one no bi true 4 in proof of stake nd u go understand why e dey bad along d way. Nonetheless, dem suppose get something wey go fit discourage cheaters, even if dem dey punish dem 4 d system's borders, nd dem get: Security deposits. Once nodes stake dem money, d network go fit use am 2 punish dem if dem do bad.

While d mechanism dey use d users' money 2 take avoid double-spending   e dey suffer from d so-called "double-signing problem". 4 other words, d system no dey objective 4 broad terms:

However, new nodes joining d network, nd nodes wey show 4 online after e don tssee, no go get d consensus algorithm wey dey protect dem reliably. Fortunately, 4 dem, d solution dey very simple: d first time wey dem sign up, nd every time wey dem bi offline 4 a very very long time, Dem only need 2 get recent block hash from a friend, a blockchain explorer, or simply dem own software provider, nd paste am 4 their blockchain client as a “checkpoint”. Dem go bi able 2 carefully update their view of d of d current state from there.

Dey remember say, we dey use consensus 2 make sure say d beginner wey jxt install a client, Syncs without doubt of whether wettin dem dey receive dey valid or not. Dem node go demand from d rest to send blocks, e go verify d validity 4 every nd transaction nd e go initially reach d last block of d chain wey get pass others. Na dat b d purpose of consensus; 2 avoid getting unreliable actors.

When we dey talk about unreliability, our beginners dey very safe from d PoW environment, but dey no dey safe from PoS'. U see, since dem no get objectivity, d weakness don show up already. If say, person wan attack, dem fit get more power liquidating their stake nd dem go continue with abusing their own keys. Any blocks wey dem don sign b4 go bi vulnerable nd dem no go lose anytin. Dem dey call dat one as "Nothing at stake problem".

PoS cryptocurrencies try 2 solve dis problem by either punishing d attackers wit d deposit wey dem loss if dem sign another block 4 particular period of time or if dem ignore a block wey dey don sign 4 a particular period of time later. D problem bi say u go only fit do d latter if u don dey there from d start. If you had your node syncing, u no go fit know wic of d two identical blocks bi d correct one. As I don talk b4 if u wan get a timestamp server u suppose dey rely on proof of work.

Y Proof of Stake make d system centralize
Na bcos d source wey dey contribute 2 d network no dey outside d system. D "underpinnings" dey 4 d stakers' fate. 4 proof of work, wen u setup ur ASICs nd start mining u dey, whether u like am or not, u dey help decentralize d network as d rest of d miners go suddenly get less power. D opposite dey happens 4 proof of stake: 2 acquire voting power u go increase their gains.

I call PoS-ers make dem come dis thread nd argue well well against wettin I discuss or if dem no disagree, 2 talk why PoW bad pass. Na my opinion bi dis, nd any one go fit support d other side. I no jxt type dis title 4 no reason.

Original topic:Automatically resetted testnet
Author profile link: stwenhao

E be like say I sabi how u go fit make testnets really Dey worthless. One part of d solution na make u sabi upfront, when d network don dey resettled. Another thing wey dey be say make u switch go d new testnet automatically in coordinated way.

In testnet4 wey don dey before, d Genesis Block commits to d mainnet block: https://mempool.space/testnet4/tx/7aa0a7ae1e223414cb807e40cd57e667b718e42aaf9306db9102fe28912b7b4e

As we can see, we get fake public key of all zeroes, and dey get some coinbase message, wey we fit decode also:

}
And then, we get d message:
Code:
03/May/2024 000000000000000000001ebd58c244970b3aa9d783bb001011fbe8ea8e98e00e
It simply contains d timestamp, and d mainnet block 842000 hash: https://mempool.space/block/000000000000000000001ebd58c244970b3aa9d783bb001011fbe8ea8e98e00e

However, d mainnet block no Dey contain any information about d testnet, na only timestamp dem dey use am for. In theory, new testnet could be resettled every mainnet block, then dey fit dey completely worthless, because 10 minutes after testnet842000, testnet842001 go dey, and nobody go come buy d coins, wey dem go discard after 10 minutes.

Some people believe say resetting testnet that often will discourage any kind of “long-term testing”. For that reason, I don think about something different: what if we dey use Merged Mining to produce testnet chain? Then, testnet could be resettled every time, when person go mine a block, wey go Dey valid for both testnet and mainnet. E go timestamp d new testnet, and at d same time, discard d old one.

Most of d time, testnet miners go produce weaker blocks, and dey could just broadcast “shares” in a form of valid testnet blocks, where dey could contain some valid harsh of d mainnet block, and also some commitment to d testnet data, so person go fit verify am, without taking more on-chain bytes, than it would, if person go produce only mainnet blocks.

Instead people should be calling on and contributing to bitcoin core so that solo mining na first class supported feature, with good stats so u go know say e dey work, and u go feel excited about am. Nothing Dey wrong with things like dis ‘solo pools’ existing, and I suppose dey also make good fallbacks for people’s local nodes…. but dey no be gold standard d community should be promoting.
I agree. For that reason, now I don fully synchronized mainnet node, and I don install ckpool software on top of it, to start experimenting with it, and changing d code. I believe say e go dey possible to make teatnet out of it, where nodes would trace d main chain, produce valid shares, with lower difficulty (we go fit calculate that one automatically, based on how many shares are sent to d test network, so it could auto-adjust), and where d whole chain could be resettled every time, when some test miner go reset d chain, and d mainnet block reward, and dey go start d whole testing from beginning.

If I dey look testnet chainworks, then I dey reason am say miners fit get plenty mainnet coins out of it. And all those potential dey wasted, to mine worthless test coins, instead of contributing to d mainchain security. And I feel say dey suppose change am. Also, “good stats so u go know say e dey work and u go feel excited about it” could be just expressed in a number of test coins, that people would receive, so dey go know, how close we are to d next testnet reset. But nobody go know for sure, because na just probability, and not a certainty.

Wetin u think about am?

Translated Topic in Pidgin Language; Hw u go fit use AI 4 translation nd dem no go tag u or delete ur posts
Original Topic: How to use AI for translation without getting tagged or posts deleted
Author: Don Pedro Dinero

I see say dem dey talk about some people dem dey accuse dem say dem dey use Ai generate text, nd dem dey talk say na only translation dem dey use Ai do, I don come up wit a way go show say d txt na d result of a translation. But as far as I know, na only ChatGPT dey fit do am 4 now.

2 show una hw e dey take bi, u go jxt create a “new project” 4 translation, take “translation for Bitcointalk,” 4 example. 4 there, make u jxt just put all d text 4 ur native language nd e go translate am 4 u. Now d important tin bi say if anybody dey doubt u say na u generate d txt urself, u go jxt share d link 4 ram using d “share” button wey dey 4 d top right corner.

E go generate a link wey bi lyk d one wey dey down here:

https://chatgpt.com/share/690262b2-e3e4-800e-a764-b472744ba64d

As e bi lyk dis now, I dey think say we don kill two birds with one stone, meaning say we don solve 2 problems with one solution: anybodi wey wen use AI 4 translation has a system 2 prove say no bi AI dem dey use 2 generate txt, nd anybodi wey dem accuse say na AI dem dey use 2 generate txt go fit complain say that accusations  dey unfair.

Edit: I don edit d title bcos dis system e get 2 aspects. If u no post a link, ur translation go show say na AI use generate am, nd dem go report d posts, nd d moderators go delete am. So e better make u post d link. If you prefer not 2 post am, u go fit produce d link if dem report u 4 AI spammers thread about am, so dem no go accuse u.

E don remains 2 dey see whether if u use ChatGPT 2 translate all ur posts, e go make dem look lyk bi say na AI generate am according to nutildah’s standard, but frm wettin I don see, d posts go fit show say na AI generate am bcos of some structures wey dem use do am.

Original topic: [Unofficial Guide] Reporting Effectively
Author: Welsh

Dem get visual version of this thread wey Dem break down go cleaner, and shorter version

As Dem dey try encourage the community make Dem dey report more, and make d forum de cleaner I don create "guide" for reporting. Also, I hope this one go de useful to those wey don dey report already, but dey find how Dem go take improve their reports.

Dem get plenty reasons why people no de make reports including, but e no dey limited to:

- Dem no get time.
- Dem no sabi wetin Dem go put for report.
- Dem de worry too much about their percentage.
- Dem no sabi forum guidelines well well.

I de hope say this thread go help those wey #2 and #3 de apply to, by giving explanation of how Dem go report with examples/placeholders wey Dem fit use as template when Dem de report. And for those wey care about percentage I hope say this information provided go make Dem report instead of make dem go skip am just because dem dey fear make dem no mark am bad. E dey okay if users no get time to report, but this thread na for those wey wan help but maybe dem no sabi how.

I go try make i keep this post structure alongside mpreps  Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ so make dem fit cross reference the two for specific guideline when dem de report. I don add examples wey dey numbered as dem relate to their explanations wey de inside the thread.

Benefits of reporting

Explanations

Disclaimer: Dis na my own personal policy/format, forum no endorse am.

1. When reporting post wey no get meaning/low value make sure you add why you think say e no get meaning.

2. When you dey report off topic posts add information about the topic and why dem no relate.

3. When you dey report trolling posts e better make you specifywhy you think say na trolling. Mostly, trolling posts na off topic post too.

4. Ref spam de very easy to spot. Dem usually follow "r=" or unique code for the end of the link. But if the user hide am behind markup url like http://<ref link> e go better make you specify am.

5. Also, urls wey lead to ad earning site de very easy to spot and verify. Just ask moderator make e check the link.

6. When you see Malware or phishing site e better make you de as clear as possible and make u explain am well well. E no go allow the moderator wey dey deal with the report de compromised too. When you dey deal with Malware e better make you add any virus scan wey dey positive for malware. A good site is virustotal.com wey fit scan URLs wey get malware. If dem inject the malware through code for the website then make you specify am too. You fit just specify phishing site as phishing site.

7. Begging usually na when person post him cryptocurrency address con dey ask for "donations". Specifically make you report any post wey dey beg for money, and make you include quote if post too long.

8. When you dey report death threats etc, I go advise say make you quote the threat so e go de easy to identify.

9. Reporting posts wey no be for English wey de English section de enough, you need add any additional information. But if na thread, and you sabi the language wey dem write you fit specify where dem fit move am to. If not dem dey normally delete this kind posts from my observations.

10. Not safe for work (NSFW) na any image wey no dey appropriate to view for public place or as you de work. If e get tags for the title den e dey okay and you no need report am.

11. Reporting illegal sites de very tricky because law dey different for different countries. But report anything wey dey illegal for everywhere.

12. When you wan report person for duplicate posts/thread make you add link to the di others. E better make you add do new ones, and less active threads when you dey report.

13. When you dey report a user for bumping More than one times within 24 hours make sure you add plenty evidence. E fit be link to the other bump or archive of the page.

14. Make you report any post wey dey for the wrong section whether na Altcoin related or not. If person post for wrong section den make you specify where dem go put am. For example, if a thread de for Bitcoin Discussion and e de related to Altcoin Discussion, then specify where dem originally post am, and where dem suppose move am. Dem supposed report thread wey dey ask question related to di forum wey dem post for for Bitcoin Discussion as variation of this: "Wrong section E no belong for Bitcoin Discussion". Move am go Bitcoin Forum > Other > Meta. As e de ask question wey de related to the forum.

15. Generally, people dey break di on forum giveaway rule when dem create announcement/campaign threads wey de offer bonus when you post for their threads to bump am and give false impression to people wey visit am. When you de report, only report all the threads wey dey offer bonus, and not the individual posts. If a bounty campaign thread de offer bonus for post for another thread then reporting the two two topics with relevant information na em better pass. I dey normally quote di part where dem dey offer bonus/reward because announcement threads dey long and hard to read, and sometimes dem dey offer the reward outside the forum like "X", Discord, Facebook or their own website. If e link to one of their social media/website make you add a warning for your report say na external site.

16. When you dey report person wey get more than one active thread for cryptocurrency exchange section make you add to the other(s). I dey like report the ones wey no too dey active. Or instead I go just report the new threads, then add link to the old ones. The moderator go con decide the one wey him go delete.

17. When you dey report users wey dey trade illegal goods e better make you report only if e dey illegal worldwide because e hard to know where person dey stay. Unless if you fit prove the country wey the user dey live then you fit add that information for the report.

18. No report person just because dem get multiple accounts. But if you see say dem break rules with multiple accounts or dem evade ban and you get evidence say dem dey connected then you fit report one of their posts and add information wey prove am inside the report.

21. When you dey report multiple bumps e better make you report only the earliest bump and add comment for the report field say more bump dey the thread.

22. Report posts wey another person make for advertisement purpose for another person thread.

24. When you de report thread wey include advertisement make sure say the post no dey meaningful. This one fit be matter of opinion, so make you try add explanation why you think say the post no dey valuable enough wey Dem go put advertisement inside the post.

25. When you dey report person for ban evasion add link to their profile, and link to the topic/post wey prove am say na the same person.

26. When you de report person wey no follow local thread rules, quote the local rule, and make you explain why you think say dem don break am. For example, if person don break a local rule wey specify say Dem no go discuss inside the Auction thread, say na only bids but he ignore am con ask questions etc.

27. When you dey report texts wey dem translate automatically make you verify am first with public resources, and make you add links to am if possible. For example, post wey dem don automatically translate with Google translate make you report am and make you add the link to the Google translation too.

29. Wyn you dey report personal message I go try exclude admins unless na very important matter. If na just for person wey dey send you spam then make you just add moderators/global moderators. Admins get plenty work like account recoveries so your report go only hinder dem as fit happen say na other moderators go handle am anyway.

30. If a user don list the same marketplace items for multiple thread make you add link to those threads.

31. When you dey report user wey dey use Not safe for work (NSFW) avatar, report any post and make you specify say na di avatar be di problem no be di post, or make you just send personal message to any moderator to alert dem. (di second one na em better pass for di two)

32. When you dey report user wey post multiple times in a row wey no be for di owner of di topic for reserve post and dem dey bump thread specify am. No need to add link to message e no go dey hard to find.

33. When you dey report plagiarized content make sure say dem no add original source. If dem no add am den make you provide the original source for the report say na plagiarized content. Dem get plenty tools wey fit help identify plagiarized content and also manual search through search engine fit help.

Examples
1. "To the moon" or "This is great" na low quality posts. Report am along the line of "Spam/Low value post. E no add anything to di discussion."

2. Post for mining thread about forum moderation na off topic. "Off topic, this thread na about mining but, the post na forum moderation related post."

3. "Trolling/off topic <talk reason why you think say na trolling post>"

4. "ref spam" suppose dey enough normally or if the user hide am for back of URL tags : "Ref spam, dem hide am for back of URL tag make e look like normal link.

5. "Link shorter wey require viewing of ad to see di content. Please check the link."

6. "This link lead to malware wey. See the scan for totalvirus <totalvirus scan url> or if na phishing site: "This link lead to phishing site" e suppose dey enough

7. "This person dey beg. He don add him Bitcoin/Altcoin address,  and he dey ask people to send money inside."

8. Death threats/threats say Dem go beat am. '<quote of threat>'

9. " No be English; for English section." you fit expand am with "Na x language, move am go <local board>.

10. "NSFW image wey no get warning/tags", "NSFW image wey dem put inside the site" or di combination of di two if the di two apply.

11. "Link for site wey dey illegal for everywhere"

12. "Duplicate post/thread: <link to duplicate>

13. "Multiple bumps inside 24 hours. <link for bump made under 24 hours of each other>"

14. "Wrong section, e no belong for <section> move am go <section>"

15. "The original post dey offer something nice to users wey post for di topic. '<quote of di text wey dey offer di reward>'.", if you dey quote for external site "The people wey dey behind dis thread de offer users reward for posting for di topic. External site: "<quote of di text wey dey offer di reward>."

16. "This user don already get another active threads for currency exchange section: <link to thread(s)>"

17. "E dey trade illegal goods wey no dey allowed worldwide."

21. "Multiple old bumps for di thread wey dem never delete."

22. "Dem make dis post to advertise service/product for another person thread."

24. "Dis post/thread no qualify for advertisement, because e no get enough value. <Talk any additional reason>"

25. "Dis person don evade ban: <link to profile> see post wey connect di two two accounts: <link to connection>

26. "E don break local rule. <link for local rule>

27. ""Dem no translate dis post well, and e no make sense. I de suspect say na computer translate am.  Check dis place for identical translation abeg: https://translate.google.co.uk/#auto/ar/This%20is%20an%20example

30. "Dis person don post marketplace items wey dey similar for other threads: <link to thread(s)>

31. "I dey report dis user for their NSFW avatar, but no be di content of di post."

32. "Dis person don post multiple posts in a row and dem no be bumps. <optional link to multiple posts in a row>"

33. "plagiarism and e no con put source link: <link to original source/post>"

How do I report?
Every thread/post for this thread get "Report to moderator" button wey dey di bottom right corner. You fit click am, and e go carry you go anoda page where you fit type reason why you dey report di post/thread. You fit add more information like di examples wey dey up so. I go add image for down  make una see how di button look like.

Additional tools

Patrol
Di patrol page dey show all new posts of members wey dey Newbies/Brand new rank. Dis page dey very useful for finding posts/thread wey break rules or because plenty new members no sabi di rules of di forum. E also dey useful to find bot accounts.

Report History
Only users wey don report 300 good reports na dem get access to dis page
Dis na one of di most useful feature wey dey related to reporting. Basically, e dey show you di history of your reports, and e go tell you wether dem mark am good, bad or dem no handle am. You fit use dis page check your reporting habits and use am improve di quality of your posts.

You fit access dis tool through "report moderator" page. The button wey you go use access dis page look like:

E go carry you page wey look like this:

Di time wey Dem make d report.

Di topic or post wey dem report. If you click am e go carry you go d post wey dem report unless Dem don delete am.

Do person wey dem report. Dem blur am here for dis thread for privacy reasons, but for your report history you go see di username go dey show

Dis na di status of di report. If dem don handle di report dem go mark am good or bad dem go show am. For example, Dem go mark good reports "Good", bad posts "Bad", and if dem never handle am e go dey show "Unhamdled".

Modlog
Di Modlog na record of posts wey dem delete, users wey dem ban, and threads wey Dem remove. You fit use am track how dem dey treat users and to research any user wey you dey report. Sometimes you fit find out say dis user get plenty posts wey dem don delete recently and fit add dis record for your report to make am strong.

You fit dey check dis page time to time make you dey see how moderators take dey work. (E plenty).

Seclog
Di seclog na record of users wey just recently wake up from a long sleep or change their credentials. (like email/password) You fit use dis record to improve di quality of your report. If you dey report account wey spam for example, you fit check di seclog if you dey suspect say di account don dey compromised because di posting style don change. You fit add di quote of dis log, make mods investigate am further.

Plagiarism checker
Dem get plenty plagiarism checker tools, but I find this one to dey work very well for me. Yes you fit do manual search for search engine but this one just make am very fast and easy.

One-click mod report
Dis script na creation of user "Suchmoon" make e help users report things well using browser extension. Na user friendly tool wey dey reporting easy and effective.

Expand report field
User "Minifrij" na him create greasemonkey script to adjust report fields column, rows, and text area.

General advice

When you dey report users wey dey spam/paid bump thread, check di original topic, social medias, and website see if em dey offer money or reward for post as na him be di main cause for spam. If dem dey, den you no need report each spam comments individually, you fit just report di thread instead make you follow di explanations, and example of number 15.

Some of dis examples fit dey a little too deep for most of di post wey dem report, and Dem no need plenty explanation for simple reports. But sometimes u need more explanation make moderators fit understand you better. E no mean say short and straight forward reports no good too. Generally I only include long explanations and evidence for more difficult cases. But I don get few reports wey dem mark because I no give long explanation when I first do am but as later add reasons why I report am na that time dem come mark am good. Remember, because say you see phrase wey Dem repeat plenty times for thread no mean say di moderator wey dey review am see am.

When you dey use a patrol page CTRL+F wey go open find bar for your browser fit dey useful for finding post/thread wey break rules. For example, you fit type in common phrases wey be copy and paste or maybe make u search "r=" wey dem de use for referral spam.

E dey more better make you de always use the "report to moderator" button instead of posting a thread make you report dem publicly. E get plenty reasons why e better pass, but generally e dey lead to less spam for di Meta section. E dey easier for moderators because na their queue e dey go straight, and also e dey protect di privacy of di user wey Dem dey report. No be all post wey break rules you suppose treat harshly. Dem get some guidelines like plagiarism and ref spam wey worse pass other ones. But if you fit protect di privacy of di user abeg make you do am make you use di "report to moderator" button. Sometimes to open thread for Meta to report multiple users fit dey useful, but na when you dey report large amount of users, and difficult cases. As general rule if you fit use report to moderator button then make you use am instead of creating new thread.

Sometimes your report fit stay and dem no go handle am because den leave am for higher rank staff member. For example, a dedicated moderator of a section fit leave am for global mod/admin make e deal with am because dem no get access to some things. But sometimes reports fit wey dem no handle am because staff members no mark am good or bad. E fit be say na because dem no sure say di report good abi e bad. For example, you fit report spam post make di moderator agree say na spam but dem fit reason why dem no go remove am. This situation fit be good example wey dey make reports say wey dem no go handle am. No worry too much about report wey dem no handle because e no go affect for your report percentage.

When you dey use di report comment remember say pressing enter go submit di report, and e no go create new line. Dem get script wey dey for forum wey fit help expand do report to moderator comment field. I don add one of dis script for additional tool section for dis thread.

Benefits of reporting

1. E dey make forum clean and easy to read for everybody

2. E fit help move thread go their right section and make forum dey organize well.

3. E fit help moderators because e go allow dem to act on reports instead of say dem dey search for posts/threads wey break rules.

This topic seem a little bit old and inactive but I think it will be useful for members of this section. We keep seeing new members everyday and a lot of users here don't know how to report a post or thread so I decided to share this here.
The images in the Original post was fixed.

Make we keep the forum clean by reporting any inappropriate post to the mods

Translated Topic in Pidgin Language; HALVING GP and BURNING MATH [simplified]
Original Topic: HALVING GP and BURNING MATH [simplified]
Author:    Mia Chloe

B4 I go carry on GP wey dey say 4 dis post means simple maths expression wey dem know as geometric progression. nd yeah dis post go talk about halving nd crypto burning.

Let's dive right in;

Well, e dey very clear say crypto halving na all about cutting something wey bi cryptocurrency in half. But d question bi say, wettin bi dat exactly??  Now, e go dey very wrong if we simply put supply, nd at d same time putting circulation na also a misconception. make we use bitcoin as a case study so dat una go understand am easily. If we wan talk about Bitcoin economics, Bitcoin get a totally supply of 21 million coins. Now na dis 21 million supply bi d larger number of bitcoins dat dem go fit mined nd hence put into circulation. Now d question bi say Since we dey cut supply 4 half in case of halving den wettin we go con do?

Bitcoin dey use a proof of work mechanism where dem dey mine coins into circulation through a process wey dem dey call hashing. For d first 4 years wey dem create Bitcoin, mining dey very sweet bcos e dey get so much profit, bcos valid hashes wey dem found after successful mining sessions dey brought plenty bitcoin rewards nd dem dey get 50BTC 4 each block .

In halving , na dis rewards dem dey cut in half.  Halving dey occur 4 d Bitcoin network after dey don mined 210,000 blocks successfully, nd e dey takes Approximately 4 years nd yes na dat bi d constant period of time bcos d network get d power 2 adjust it's difficultly based on how quick dem mine d precious block. U go fit get plenty explanation about dat 4 dis quiz thread by Blackhatcoiner;

According 2 d network rules, d reward wey dem dey get 4 each block follow mathematical geometric progression wey get a first term of 50BTC , a second term of 25BTC ,a third term of 12.5 BTC...............  (50BTC , 25BTC , 12.5BTC ..........)

Below na easy mathematical process wey give a GP equation 4 halving rewards per block.

E go bi like new tin 4 some people wey dey here, but dem go find am very helpful, most especially people wey dey still try 2 understand hw Bitcoin halving dey take work.

BURNING

Unlike halving wey get GP 4 successively new nd reduced block rewards 4 each halving, crypto burning no dey do dat. 4 halving d rate at wic dem dey mine new coins nd added am 2 circulation e go reduced nd e no go affect d total supply.

Well burning dey different. D tin bi say, both of dem na to regulate d value of d coin, wettin burning mean bi say 2 cut off plenty amount of d coins from circulation.

Take 4 example, b4 bitcoin start 2 dey popular today, SATOSHI mined say 500,000BTC , stored dem all 4 one wallet nd e destroyed d keys, na burning bi dat. Now make u know say d effect of dat burning no go affect d total supply of Bitcoin wey bi 21 million, however e don remove 500,000 from d total amount of circulating coins, wettin dem dey try say bi say, if dem mine 5 million BTC at d same time of d burning, bitcioners go only b able 2 circulate 4.5 million BTC + coins dat dem go successively mined after dat by making bitcoin transactions.

Since d burning no dey use a specific rate, we no go fit create GP equation 4 ram, except some coin existed which a fixed amount of ram dey constantly burned every period of time say 4 years. D truth na over time, as a coin begins 2 dey get value burning go gradually dey bcom uneconomical since e bi a loss of money 2 d person wey dey burn am.
Imagine say u burn 10,000 bitcoins 2day ( lol  Grin Cool Cool ) dat one e go pass crazy.

Quantum eMotion, for partnership with di Krown Technologies  make Di official announcement  regardin di release of di world's first quantum-secured hot wallet namely Qastle with em official launch scheduled for November 1st.

I go like to highlight two of dere point wey dem talk:

1) "Qastle dey available everywhere for iPhone, Android, tablets, browser extensions, laptops, desktops, and almost every platform where digital assets dey store and transact."

2) "Qastle represents di first time wey post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum random number generation (QRNG) dey combine for di hot wallet built for di mainstream."

Based on dis statement, I assume say dis wallet go rely for eFlux-Q service, operate by Quantum eMotion, to deliver entropy wey generate by dere cutting-edge QRNG to Qastle.

Qastle beta testing don already concluded.

Translated Topic in (input native dialect been used;  TANGEM WALLET: One Innovative Seedless Cold Wallet Setup
Original Topic: TANGEM WALLET: An Innovative Seedles Cold Wallet Setup
Author: fillippone

Di Tangem Wallet get one innovative and unique way wey dem take handle di most challenging part of owning Bitcoin, wey be to dey manage private seed.
Tangem decide say make dem package one industry-grade secure cold wallet inside credit card form factor, den dem give di management of di seed phrase to di companion app, wey di backup na di physical card itself without di user fit know di phrase for first place.
Dis unique way comot di weaker element, wey be human being, from di chain of control of di seed, both simplifying how to use Bitcoin and raising di security standard.

Note say di Tangem wallet fit handle many different cryptocurrencies, but for dis review, I go focus only on Bitcoin, without exploring di many features wey dey available for di shitcoins. I go focus only on di seedless option, as e be di most innovative one, just understand say one "classic" seed option dey present, but for dis case, di mechanism go be much more like conventional Hardware wallet.

Of course, I be big supporter of self-custody and private seed management. See for example my thread:

Securing Your Seed Phrase with Washers

Finally, of course, I no get any funding or any provision from Tangem Wallet or anyone else. Dis review na only di product of my commitment to dis forum. I find one interesting concept and I wan share am with una guys.

1. Foreword: wetin be cold wallet?

Cold wallet na wallet architecture wey make di seed no dey for online device ever. Di signing of di transactions dey happen entirely offline. Di online part only dey ask for di offline part, through secure connection, di signing of di transaction, and broadcast am, once di offline part don return di cryptographic signature. For dis process, di seed no dey exposed online.

2. Physical Design

Tangem Box
Opening di box, you go see brief instruction sheet.
Dem go show di Tangem Card.
I choose di 3 black card setup.

Di Tangem card design dey minimalist, e get slim profile with dimensions wey be like credit card own, only small small thick pass for durability. Dem make am with high-quality plastic material wey feel premium when you touch am. Di card front normally dey show di Tangem logo, and di back get di card serial number, NFC symbol, and some essential legal information. Different designs dey available. I choose di black design wey show completely black, anonymous card, wey make di card no too obvious say na crypto product if person see am anywhere.

Di Tangem Card get nice embossed Logo
Di other two cards completely black
Di Back of di main card get only some drawing, di other two completely black.
Di cards almost thick as normal credit card.

Di card almost no fit destroy, dem fit put am for water, and X-rays no fit damage am (fit scan am for airports safely) or extreme temperatures. Di card also dey water-resistant, and dust-resistant, and fit operate for extreme temperatures, wey make am suitable for various environments. Dem don certify di cards with IP69K certification.

Dis durability add another layer of practicality for users wey wan carry cold wallet with dem, without worrying too much about di environment wey fit touch di device.
For case of faulty cards, Tangem dey provide 25-year product Replacement Warranty.

Di wallet dey interact primarily with NFC technology, wey support tap-to-use mechanism. Dis feature make am user-friendly and inherently secure since di card must dey near device for any transaction, reducing di risk of unauthorized access. Di absence of screen, while e be security concern for some people, dey contribute to di wallet sleek design and portability, encouraging users make dem carry their assets with dem as easy as dem go carry cash or cards.

Dis air-gapped operation greatly reduce di risk of attacks from malware or from hacking, as di wallet no dey expose sensitive information.
Tangem dey use secure cryptographic protocols for each communication: every data transfer between di wallet and di smartphone na cryptographically secure. For case of loss or theft, private keys no fit access thanks to physical and software isolation for di design of di workflow. Dis elevated protection level make Tangem viable solution for everybody wey want get secure, yet practical solution to store their digital wealth.

3. Setup Process

Di setup process for Tangem dey quite straightforward. When you receive your cards, you download di Tangem app, wey dey available for both iOS and Android devices, wey go guide you through creating new wallet or importing one. Di Tangem App first check di authenticity of both di Secure Elements and di firmware for di Card. Once dem don verify dis one, di App authorize di Secure Elements make dem generate di user private keys securely inside di card Secure Element.
Di secure element dey compliant with EAL6+ security certifications and dem develop am in collaboration with Samsung Semiconductors. Di chip support multiple cryptographic operations, ensuring say even if dem physically compromise di card, di data inside go remain secure.

Di user fit generate your seed phrase for three ways:
  • Seedless: You make TRNG - True Random Number Generator wey dey inside di secure element generate di seed. Dem generate di seed and e stay inside di Secure Element and no leave am. Di Seed no dey go online. With dis configuration, Tangem na cold wallet.
  • Traditional Seed: You use di App generate di seed and you import di seed inside di Tangem Card. Di Tangem actually na Hot Wallet.
  • Import your Existing Seed Phrase inside di Tangem Card. Tangem
suppose be Hot Wallet, as you need put di seed for mobile phone wey probably connect to internet, e go later connect to am.

Once you don choose your preferred method, di app go prompt you make you tap your card for your phone.

I highly recommend seedless solution only if you order more than one card, otherwise, your funds go lock for di tangem wallet in case you lose your cards, as for dis scheme, di card na di only means wey you fit actually move di funds.
As alternative, you fit opt to create traditional seed phrase, but dis one no dey mandatory, adding to di wallet appeal for those wey fit overwhelm by di responsibility of managing such phrases. Dis more common solution dey exposed to di pros and cons of seed management wey you suppose already know.
As di microchip, di Tangem firmware no be open source, and third-party company don audit am. Di firmware no fit update and dem permanently write am for di Tangem Chip.
Di App on di other hand na open source and e dey get regular updates.

You need create access Code
FaceID integration
Select di token wey you like
Your functioning wallet (I don already receive some funds)

Di setup process dey very easy and straightforward: during di process, I make some errors, primarily removing di cards too soon or exposing di wrong card: di app recognize di problem, and guide me toward di solution and di correct setup.

4. Everyday use

User interface, as you fit see, dem don design am with simple and accessible design and language, dis make Tangem wallet particularly suited for experienced users and beginners as well, being particularly clear and tutoring about di choices and steps wey dem suppose make.

If you wan spend money from your Tangem wallet, just prepare your transaction for di app, den Tap di card.
Di app construct di raw transaction Di card and app exchange data; di app send di unsigned transaction, and di card secure element sign am with your private key.

Dem send di signed TX back to di app, wey immediately broadcast di signed TX to di network.
Dem sign di transaction without di seed ever leaving your card!

Of course, dis simplicity come at cost, For crypto newcomers, Tangem significantly reduce di learning curve wey dey associated with managing private keys and seed phrases. Di app interface dem design am make e guide users through transactions with clear, step-by-step instructions. However, for advanced users, trade-off fit dey; di simplicity fit lack some of di customization or detailed control options wey dey for other wallets. For example, while dey send transaction, I no fit set up fee for Satoshi wey no round: either 1 or 2 Satoshi, no be 1.1. While e no particularly compelling, dis na only example of feature wey almost standard for any major wallet.

5. Disaster Recovery

Wetin go happen if you lose card?

If you lose one of di cards for your Tangem Wallet set, di impact depend on which and how many cards you still get, as well as whether you set up seed phrase during activation:

1. Tangem Wallet Structure and Redundancy
  • Dem dey sell Tangem Wallets as sets of 2 or 3 physical cards, each of dem contain identical copy of your private key wey dem generate during di initial setup process. Dis redundancy ensure say losing single card no go immediately lock you out of your funds.
  • During di initial activation, you decide how many cards wey you go include for your backup (typically 2 or 3 cards, each with copy of di seed depending on di number of cards wey you buy). Keeping these cards for separate, secure locations na crucial to prevent total loss.

2. Losing Single Card
  • Access Remain Intact: As long as you still get at least one of di remaining cards from dat set, you fit continue to access and manage your funds exactly as before. Di lost card by itself no fit use to drain your assets, because any transaction still require scanning one of di remaining genuine cards plus your PIN.
  • No In-Place Replacement: You no fit "add" brand-new card to wallet wey dem don already activate. In other words, once dem initialize set, dem clone im private key only on those cards wey you originally choose. If you wan restore full redundancy (e.g., return from 2 cards back to 3), you must buy new Tangem set and transfer your funds to dat fresh wallet.
  • Security Considerations: If you suspect say di lost card don fall into malicious hands, e wise make you move your entire balance from di old wallet into newly created one (with new cards). Dat way, even if person somehow get di lost card, dem no fit use am to access your assets.

3. Losing All Cards for Wallet Set
  • Without Seed Phrase (Tangem 1.0 or no seed setup): If dem never link your Tangem Wallet to seed-phrase backup and all cards lost or dem steal am, di private key don gone forever. No way to recover access, and your funds go become irretrievable.
  • With Seed Phrase (Tangem 2.0 or Tangem Ring): If, during setup, you opt to generate BIP-39 seed phrase, you fit use dat phrase restore di same wallet (and im private key) for another Tangem-compatible device. For dat scenario, losing every physical card no go doom your funds simply create fresh Tangem Wallet (or use software wallet wey accept di same seed), enter di exact 24-word phrase, and you go regain full control.

4. Access Code Protections
  • Each Tangem card require PIN (access code) before e go sign any transaction. Even if person find your lost card, dem no fit immediately move your funds without guessing di PIN. After multiple failed attempts, di card enforce delays to prevent brute-forcing.
  • If you forget your own access code, you fit reset am only if another card from di same wallet set dey available. At least two cards na dem you need to reconfigure or recover access code.

5. Lost Phone vs. Lost Card
  • Your smartphone na only interface; e no dey store your private keys. If you lose your phone, your funds go remain safe—just install di Tangem app for new NFC-enabled handset and scan your remaining card(s) as before.
  • Conversely, losing all cards equal to losing di private key itself (unless you get di seed).

Source: Tangem Blog

Wetin go happen if person find your card?

If person find Tangem card, na dis dem fit do with am:

1. View di public address and check balances
  • By tapping di card wey dem find for any Tangem-compatible app, attacker fit read im public address (since di card hold both private and public key pairs). Knowing dis address, dem fit look up your balance and transaction history for di blockchain or for any wallet explorer.
In other words, dem go learn exactly how much crypto wey dey stored "behind" dat card, but dem still no get di private key.

2. No fit extract di private key or seed phrase from di card
  • Tangem cards dey store private keys inside secure element; those keys no fit export or copy out under any circumstances. Even Tangem engineers no fit extract dem. Because of dis, attacker no fit clone your wallet or recover your seed phrase solely from having di physical card.

3. No fit move funds without di access code (PIN)
  • Every Tangem card require di user make e enter access code (PIN) before e go sign any transaction. Without di correct PIN, di card simply no go authorize outgoing payments.
  • If person try random PINs, di card enforce increasing delay after each incorrect attempt—after six wrong tries, e add one-second delay per subsequent guess (capping at 45 seconds). Dis make brute-forcing di PIN practically impossible.
  • Even if dem somehow guess di PIN, dem go only fit sign transactions for dat single card. If you don already move funds off dat wallet (e.g., after noticing say di card lost), nothing go remain to steal.
4. Fit attempt to reset di card—but only if dem know di access code
  • If attacker somehow already know your PIN (e.g., find am written down somewhere), dem fit use di card reset am back to factory settings. Dat go wipe out any seed-phrase link and private key, essentially destroying di wallet—but e still no dey send funds anywhere.
5. No risk of "silent" key extraction or malware hacks
  • Tangem secure element dem design am so dat di private key no dey ever leave di chip. Even sophisticated "man-in-the-middle" for di NFC interface no fit siphon di key—everything dey happen inside di chip itself.

Without knowing di PIN, resetting dey impossible: di "Forgot your code?" flow itself require scanning one of di other backup cards for your set.
In short, dem no fit hack di card remotely; dem must physically enter di correct PIN to sign transaction.

6. Small talk about shitcoins

Tangem support extensive list of cryptocurrencies, wey dem dey continuously expand. Dis include not only mainstream cryptocurrencies but also less common tokens, wey dem dey manage through token lists inside di app. Dis broad support dem facilitate am by di wallet ability to interact with various blockchain networks directly, ensuring say even as dem dey launch new tokens, Tangem fit potentially support dem with updates to im software.

One of di standout features na di wallet integration with decentralized apps (DApps) and DeFi protocols via WalletConnect, protocol wey allow secure communication between wallets and DApps. Dis integration mean say users fit engage in staking, yield farming, or even play blockchain-based games without needing to expose their private keys.

Dem also allow users make dem Swap, or Trade, tokens directly inside di Tangem Wallet. Fees no cheap, but di convenience of having direct conversion between any token definitely na plus for less experienced users.

7. Who fit benefit from Tangem pass?

  • Travelers: Di tangem form factor make am ideal for travelers wey wish to carry their crypto securely without di bulk of traditional hardware wallets.
  • New Crypto Users: Tangem user-friendly setup and operation make am go-to for those wey just dey enter di crypto space.
  • Multi-Currency Holders: those wey get diverse portfolio appreciate Tangem support for wide array of cryptocurrencies.

8. Pros and Cons - Expanded

Pros:
  • Mobility: Di card form factor and NFC technology make am one of di most mobile-friendly hardware wallets.
  • Security: With no known security breaches and high-level certification, e dey offer robust protection for digital assets.
  • Multi-Card Safety: having seedless wallet avoid di technicalities of seed management and custody. All na delegated to di card physical backup. Backup and phone constitute dual-part system almost unbreakable.
Cons:
  • App Dependency:All operations dem dey manage via di app, wey fit become single point of failure if dem no manage am correctly. Dis no be pure cold card, wey dem mean to leave unattended for years.
  • IF YOU LOSE ACCESS TO ALL YOUR CARDS, YOUR FUNDS DON GONE. As you suppose take care of backup of your seed for traditional setup, you suppose careful of your cards for seedless setup. Backing up card dey easier by di way as di card no sufficient to spend your coins
  • Physical Deterioration: even if di cards dem build well well, dem no prone to physical damage and di warranty of di Tangem na 25+ YEARS, dem contain electronic components wey fit prone to failure. E better make you periodically check di integrity of di cards (maybe at multiyear-length interval).
  • COST of Disposal: In case you wan move your coins to new Hardware wallet, your only option na to move di funds. Privacy and economic considerations dey. Moving funds expose your funds to on-chain analysis, wey na privacy-endangering situation. Also moving funds require paying some fees, wey of course no dey desirable. If you get seed, you fit move Wallet simply by importing di seed for di Tangem.

9. Final Remarks

Tangem Wallet stand out for di crowded space of cryptocurrency hardware wallets by offering unique blend of security, simplicity, and style. E particularly dey appeal to those wey value ease of use alongside high-level security, making am one of di best options for everyday users wey want manage their cryptocurrency safely without di complexity of traditional hardware wallets.

However, for users wey require more granular control over their transactions or those wey heavily involved for di NFT ecosystem, other solutions fit more suitable. Despite these limitations, Tangem continue to evolve, with updates to im app and support for new cryptocurrencies, showing commitment to staying relevant for rapidly changing crypto landscape.

In summary, Tangem Wallet no be just tool but innovative solution wey aim at cryptocurrency security, wey fit be both sophisticated and user-friendly, challenging di industry make dem rethink how we secure our digital wealth.[/list]

Translated Topic in Pidgin Language; How you go take copy your Signatures easily on mobile devices and Computer
Original Topic: How to copy your Signatures easily on mobile devices and Computer
Author:    DubemIfedigbo001

Yes oooo, jxt lyk d topic say, dis na step by step nd easy teaching wey dem go understand easily on hw dem go copy campaign signatures nd na only press dem go press am using Tampermonkey extension nd TryNinja's scripts.

After I don see d hardship wey forum members dey face, I con decide say make I respond 2 dis thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5533860.0, i con decide say make I simplify am.

make we start wit Mobile Version
4 mobile, u go use Edge browser. As opera mini nd chrome no dey support extensions on mobile, dem limit am.

After u don install d edge browser finish,

Step 1
U go com click on d hamburger wey dey 4 d far right

Step 2
Make u click on extensions nd den get Tampermonkey,
.

Translated Topic in Pidgin Language; Whetin we go fit know before we go recommend Bitcoin give our friend?
Original Topic: What should you know before recommending Bitcoin to a friend?
Author: d5000

This thread was inspired by this one, Dem get where a forum user talk say e dey regret wey him tell en friend about bitcoin bcos some of dem lost their coins or Bitcoin no fit hold to their expectations.

D idea nw na 2 collect things wey go dey useful make person know b4 u go recommend Bitcoin 4 friends nd relatives.

E go dey absolute "musts", or eazy tips wey go make ur Bitcoin journey better well well.

I con start am wit a couple of tins wey dey "musts" 4 everybody who wan recommend Bitcoin 2 someone, make dem know nd make dem also tell the new users wey dey wan recommend am 2.

1) No bi ur keys, no bi ur coins! Dat one na d basic sentence wey everybody wey wan involve himself 4 bitcoin suppose know and understand b4 he go invest in bitcoin. D truth bi say, coins wey dem hold 4 exchange or custodial wallet no bi ur own -- if d company wey dey behind dem gets bankrupt or dey hack dem, u go fit lose ur coins.

2) Make u save ur keys nd seeds well well, make u no lose dem. U suppose get at least 1or 2 physical items (paper fit 4 small amount wey u fit afford 2 lose, but metal-based items e good!) where u write down ur seeds or keys frm ur main Bitcoin wallet.

3) Make u no dey think say Bitcoin price go dey always go up. D important tin bi say, if Bitcoin price don go higher 4 plenty years, e lykly say e go correct small time.

4) DCA na e bi d best method 2 buy BTC nd make u avoid problems with e volatility. Buying Bitcoins all at once dey very risky, especially if d price don already dey high. Dey buy dem in chunks, regularly, 4 example 1 time in a month.

5) Make u no reuse addresses! Dis rule dey very important 4 addresses wey u dey use 4 HODL. If u dey reuse addresses e mean say u dey receive money after u don snd coin frm same address. Dis fit expose u 2 privacy risks nd quantum computers wen dem dey available.

6) Dem no dey fit reverse Bitcoin payments (make we take credit card payments 4 example). Make u check all info, like addresses, nd d trustworthiness of merchants nd service providers well well, b4 u go make payment. Na ur own responsibility 2 deal wit d consequences. If sometin goes wrong nd d payee no cooperate, d only option wey u get na 2 go 2 d police.

7) Make u dey only use Bitcoin frm safe devices. If u get smallest doubt say ur device fit get malware, or u dey use Internet anyhow (nd u dey use Windows Wink ) Den move ur coins ASAP 2 a safer place! Make u consider hardware wallet or special device 4 bigger amounts.

User contributions 4 d thread:

8 ) Test Biitcoin with small amounts first.
9) Tell your friends facts, don't get too excited.
10) Security first & educate yourself about Bitcoin before investing.
11) Be sure to understand Bitcoin before recommending. Be aware of scams.
12) Invest what you can afford to lose, understand the difference between long-term trend and short-term movements.
13) Keep coins separate & don't panic, use mobile wallets only for small amounts..
14) Use open source software.
15) Prevent physical attacks.
16) Don't post your Bitcoin address in public (until necessary). (Very important! Above all HODL addresses should never be revealed!)
17) Clarify the difference between Bitcoin and altcoins. Be careful with centralized exchanges.
18) Learn how to consolidate UTXOs. Store keys in different locations and use a passphrase on your main device.
19) Be aware of ponzi schemes and malware on untrustworthy links
20) Be careful with airdrops, don't connect a wallet with significant funds to untrustworthy actors.
21) Try to be emotionally stable before taking decisions. Monitor market trends.
22) Know how transaction fees work, to avoid under/overpaying.
23) Learn from experienced Bitcoin users.
24) Store your seedphrases and keys only offline, never online.
25) Elaborate a strategy and a long term plan.
26) Do not use wallet software on public unprotected WiFi networks.

U go fit add sometin? Good tips will be merited and linked in the OP!

Original Topic: How to convert  a Word. doc to bbcode for bitcointalk
Author: Pmalek

~snip

Sometimes wen  I dey create threads, I dey like make i first write di content in Word, and then make I com copy/paste di text to Bitcointalk. I dey find di Word environment easier to work with. Wen a thread get plenti bbcode entries like bold, italicised, underlined, different font sizes, etc., e fit dey very tiring to  work with each line of text to make am look the way you want it to.

Wen preparing the 2nd post in My Football Gambling System: A Betting Experiment, I com need to highlight each line individually make I add bbcodes for underlined, green/red text, and bold text. E dey very time-consuming and tiresome. I com reason am say: Dem suppose get  an easier way to do dis.

I try am with few online tools wey dey convert a Word doc/docx into bbcode, like dem https://any2bb.com/ or http://www.ecardmax.com/hoteditor/. But dat one no give me satisfactory results. I put di results of these two converters in di screenshot wey dey below one next to the other. Compare am with di 2nd post in my thread, and you go see how messed up di formatting be.

After a lot of searching, I com  finally see a bbcode extension for Libre Office. I com download and installed Libre office, installed di extension and try am. I finally got somewhere and was able to produce a decent copy of my Word document.

Below nah screenshot of how it looks when you convert a Word text to bbcode with Libre Office and the bbkode extension. On di left side are di results of di conversion with Libre Office. On the right is a screenshot wey I  take from di thread, which was edited line by line in Bitcointalk.

As you can see, dem look almost identical. E com be like dem get difference in di colour shades between di two screenshots. But honestly, I prefer di green colour on di left more than di original.

The resulting bbcode of di converted document dey quite messy, but e work:

Code:
[B][SIZE=12pt]Paris FC[/SIZE][/B]

[U][SIZE=10pt]Round 1[/SIZE][/U][SIZE=10pt]
[/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]Chambly vs [/SIZE][COLOR=#00B050][SIZE=10pt]Paris FC [/SIZE][/COLOR][SIZE=10pt]0:3

[/SIZE][B][SIZE=10pt]Profit/Loss: +$21.00[/SIZE][/B][SIZE=10pt]

[/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]Stake: $3.00[/SIZE][SIZE=10pt]
[/SIZE][B][SIZE=10pt]Profit/Loss: -$3.00[/SIZE][/B]

Here is how you fit do am as well:

1.   Download and install Libre Office from di official website: https://www.libreoffice.org/
2.   Download and install di  BBkode extension for Libre Office: https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/bbkode
3.   Edit your  document for Libre Office or copy/paste di finished document from Word.
4.   Highlight di text dat you be wan convert to bbcode.

5.   In Libre Office, click on Tools > Add-Ons > BBcode

6.   A new window go appear with di text converted to bbcode. Click inside di  box, hit CTRL+A to copy di content, and paste am into your topic/post on Bitcointalk. Play around with di “equalise font name” and “equalise font size” options to see di results.

Dis wan no be di perfect solution and e no fit  recreate everything. But e go fit help with di basics.
If someone knows a better way, please share am.

EDIT: FatFork don find an excellent online converter dat works with lists and tables as well. E dey easy to use and e dey produce great results.

Original topic: [HOW-TO] Import privkeys into a Bitcoin Core descriptor wallet
Author profile link: Forsyth Jones

Since bitcoin core v21, d structure 4 generating public addresses don change go output descriptors and d RPC commands 4 importing private keys such as: importprivkey or importwallet are obsolete if you dey 4 descriptive wallet ( na only legacy wallets dey support by dis command).

Bitcoin Core generated BIP32 deterministic wallets at Derivation Path: (m/0'/0') 4 three types of scripts: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)) and bech32 (wpkh). In another words, they no use d standard paths: (m/44'/0'/0'/0), (m/49'/0'/0'/0), (m/84'/0'/0' /0)...

In another words, when you dey generate a new address wey go receive Bitcoin Core on legacy wallets, regarding d address wey dey provide, d 3 types of addresses dey correspond 2 d same private key and public key. For people wey no know, d same private key go fit generate every types of addresses, see example wey dey down:

Disclaimer: The privkey examples wey we use for this topic na em be example for demonstration only, make you no use this private key or addresses wey we represent for here, make you use your own. Also, make sure say you read and understand the reason for this thread, if you get any questions, make you no continue, just reply for this thread and I or others go fit respond here (dey careful with any help wey receive for your PM).

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/05/29/LjI85.png

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/05/29/Lj3Az.png

Before we go continue: you go fit import a private key in 2 ways:

If you want go import all scripts wey belong to this key (p2pkh, p2wpkh-p2sh and p2wpkh), we go use the "combo" command

If you get balance in one of these scripts, we go use: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)), bech32 (wpkh) and taproot (tr).

From the beginning, make we use 'combo' command as an example.

With Bitcoin Core running, make you open the console and follow the steps:

1. In the console, make you enter your wallet password (if password dey protected) with
Code:
walletpassphrase "your_strong_passwd" 600

D number 600 wey dey the same to the seconds wey your wallet dey unlock, E go fit be any number, for example, 1 minute (60) and so on. Once wey you don finish to  import your privkeys (or handle of any data wey dey sensitive from or to this wallet), type 'walletlock' on the console to lock the wallet.

2. Firstly, e dey very important make u type "getdescriptorinfo" den followed by d type of script (address) wey u wan make dem import, example bi "combo" If u import combo of 3 addresses 4 once wey match d same private key, dis command dey very important 2 get checksum, d example dey down here:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)"

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/05/29/Lj47w.png

D information wey we need na: "checksum": "59sqdw96"

3. U go type: importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(Your_WIF-Key_here)#Checksum","timestamp":"now"}]'

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#59sqdw96","timestamp":"now"}]'

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/05/29/LjBLa.png

Addendum: If u like, you go fit add label 4 dis address wey u go import, example bi "paperwallet". U fit add a label after u don import am or at d time wey dey import am:

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#59sqdw96","timestamp":"now","label":"paperwallet"}]'

After dat, 4 Receiving Addresses Tab, u go see d addresses wey dem import together wit their key pair:

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/05/29/Ljgeo.md.png

After dat, if dis key don received some balance b4, e dey very important make u give d command rescanblockhain + d block number where dem validate d transaction + block number 4 Bitcoin Core make e stop scanning. Example bi say, If u receive transaction 4 dis address wey dem import, nd dem confirm am 4 block 555555, make u jxt use rescanblockchain command give am new block number 2 stop scanning (if not d core go scan up 2 d current block number), example dey down here:

Code:
rescanblockchain 555555 555558

By dis time, if ur transaction dey among one of dis blocks wey u specify wen u dey use command above, d balance go already don update 4 ur wallet after scanning.
If u get a balance 4 legacy addresses, segwit addresses, etc. After dis command, u go will see d balance 4 all address scripts 4 ur newly private key wey dem import.

If u never do dat b4, make u type: "walletlock" 4 d console so u go lock dis wallet, press CTRL + L or click d X wey dey 4 d upper right corner of d console window so u go clear any sensitive data wey enter inside d console.

I con make dis so e go dey complete, so make we continue... If u wan import a private key nd u wan use only one type of address, like I talk am b4:

If u get balance 4 only one of dis scripts, we go use: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)), bech32 (wpkh) and taproot (tr).

If u get balance 4 only one of dis scripts, we go use: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)), bech32 (wpkh) and taproot (tr).

Keep am 4 mind say if na only one address script type of d associated privkey u dey import, Na only address type wey u use 2 import am Bitcoin Core go only read ooo.

Make u no forget 2 get checksum 4 d descriptor wey dey go import:
Quote
2. Firstly, e dey very important make u type "getdescriptorinfo" den followed by d type of script (address) wey u wan make dem import

1. U dey Import a private key go legacy address:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "pkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)"

Checksum=pn9t7xpf

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"pkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#pn9t7xpf","timestamp":"now"}]'

Addr_refreshed=1MzrTBgEqyHXpsyfci9PzfNYCctr8C1g3P

2. U dey Import a private key go p2sh-segwit:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "sh(wpkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD))"

Checksum=9k8pcre0

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"sh(wpkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD))#9k8pcre0","timestamp":"now"}]'

Addr_refreshed=3EGckQh7RVDz4tskcRQLbm28A3c79MSyAV

3. U dey Import a private key go bech32 native-segwit bc1 addr:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "wpkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)"

Checksum=qwns7c0u

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"wpkh(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#qwns7c0u","timestamp":"now"}]'

Addr_refreshed=bc1quefczeahw2f9v3hzaqnxfgp8j6wdzs8hqwe5wa

4. U dey Import a private key go taproot addr:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "tr(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)"

Checksum=lrle38p8

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"tr(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#lrle38p8","timestamp":"now"}]'

Addr_refreshed=bc1p3ne0p654zueu3ytjgc8j4hhk5ed4xkethzp40mqu65lprz5glzyq5dsz4n

If u wan import a bunch of keys:

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"wpkh(L1JYXmcqxi7qSf4GbjiurKypjCwe58b7CAqKt7e4LKzwPZyy5keX)#xa7sthaq","timestamp":"now"}, {"desc":"wpkh(KxZABocQzBdgSgD43YGyciXqZkaWiSAcfgFedaQopTE7QmY5Ze2b)#vpnlelw8","timestamp":"now"}, {"desc":"wpkh(L3SLqPexiUaTCX7Eh12S49qoKJ3rFR23JCFwTrB5A8tnysKrfLeq)#9gtpne59","timestamp":"now"}]'

Ways to Protect di Recovery Phrase - Mnemonic

WARNING: Di information wey dey  inside dis topic dey indicative only, and each pesin should evaluate which option dey best for am. We recommend reading di posts, with observations and advice from other users.

____________________
Wetin be  recovery phrase?

A recovery phrase nah basically a way of being able to read di private keys of a cryptocurrency wallet and e usually be a 12, 18 or 24 word phrase. Each cryptocurrency wallet get him  own private key - think of di  private key as your online banking password, and each cryptocurrency wallet (account) get a different private key (password) dat  allows you to access di funds.

In short, di recovery phrase nah backup of all your cryptocurrency assets. Dis means say  if somebody  else com manages to gain access to your recovery phrase, dey will be able to access your cryptocurrencies. Dat be why e dey extremely important to keep your recovery phrase safe.

Dis topic go cover some techniques to protect your recovery phrase.

Write am for Paper

Dis was one of di first ways to store di recovery phrase. Di simplest basic, effective and economical. Of course, dis forces di person to keep dis paper for a safe place with limited access to third parties, so dat no one with malicious aim fit get access to am. In fact, dis aspect dey valid for practically all protection techniques.

The biggest downside nah be say di probability of getting lost is high. Since e dey enough for di paper to be damaged due to external elements (e.g liquids), wear and tear or getting lost in a move, di recovery phrase is no longer available. A suggestion for those who use dis technique is to have several copies and saved in different places, to minimize possible losses.

On di other hand, we can conclude dat dis analog method, dey old-fashioned, to protect from di most digital assets dat can exist. Now, e still dey quite efficient. But there are other methods dat are more "modern" or at least with a more hi-tech style.

Password Manager

Dem get many programs to manage and store passwords. Using one of these programs to save di recovery phrase fit be a good way, especially if you don already dey used to using these programs. Dem get  several solutions on di market, such as Keeper or Lastpass. You fit learn more about dis type of software and di various options on di market in dis article from PCMag.

As a rule, these programs dey store di passwords, and in dis case di recovery phrase, in an encrypted database locally on your device, and some also allow access to dis information remotely.

Even though say nah good way to store dis information, and being a less analog way, we have to keep in mind dat  di recovery phrase dey stored on di device. Therefore, e dey necessary for us to ensure dat e no dey accessed by third parties or dat e no dey   infected with any virus or other malicious software. To keep your device safe, you fit  use antivirus programs and di like, and above all, use am responsibly when browsing di web and di files you download.

Steel Card

An interesting, original and modern method fit be to use a steel card or similar, where you fit write di recovery sentence. It ends up being similar to writing on paper, but e get di advantage dat  e get an accident resistant support.

Dem get many  companies wey dey provide dis type of card, such as Blockplate, Trezor[/url ] or [url=https://shop.ledger.com/]Ledger, as well as most companies wey dey make cold wallets.

Di precautions to be taken are di  same as for other methods, keep it in a safe place with limited access to third parties. Dis method fit dey ideal to keep in an emergency kit, allowing you to be protected and take am anywhere, without di danger of being easily damaged.

Safe Box

Di best way to save recovery phrase is offline, hack free. So if you dey use some of di methods already mentioned, you fit always keep am in a safe, at home or in a bank. It is  generally a difficult place for thieves to access. But for di same time, e fit make am possible for trusted people to access, in case we have an accident.

E may not be di simplest or most practical way, but e dey bring a lot of security. On di other hand, e fit also attract more attention, as di existence of a safe conveys di idea dat something of value is inside - even if e no dey. Keeping it in a bank vault can be a good idea, but e go ends up being subject to third-party protection, which is generally quite safe, but e fit be inaccessible in extreme situations.

Splitting

Splitting di phrase across multiple files, trusted people or otherwise, fit be an interesting way to protect di recovery phrase. Since only you know di sequence, e go become very difficult to find am or take a long time for am to happen. Also, if di people who have part of the recovery phrase don't know or know who get di other parts, e dey become even more difficult to be able to gather dat information effectively.

Although e be safe way to store dis information, e get di disadvantage dat when you need to use am, you have to go through several steps to put di sentence back together, and sometimes dis can take time. But e still be an effective way to make it difficult for third parties to access di recovery phrase.

To confuse

Dis may be a complementary technique to di previous techniques. Basically nah confusing di security phrase, in order to make am difficult to build di phrase, which words and which sequence. Dis may involve: changing di order of words; change some letters of words; use synonymous words; use words with di same meaning but from other languages; include these words in a long text; among other options.

In dis method, you fit use all your imagination. You just cannot forget how you have to decode those changes you made to di original recovery phrase. Therefore, when using dis method, you suppose  try to get a record of how to decode di sentence, to safeguard any memory lapse. We have to keep in mind dat di use of di passphrase is very scarce, and we often only have to think about what e dey look like long after we have create am.

Prepared for Unforeseen

Something wey everyone get to remember be say unforeseen events fit happen at any time. So if something happens to you, di recovery phrase may disappear with you, unless someone knows how to recover di money accumulated in your wallet.

In dis sense, e go dey good to create a plan B. Share with someone you trust, family or friend, di way to regain access to your wallet, in case something happens to you. E fit be good to share with at least two people, who are not normally with you at di same time, reducing di likelihood dat all three are involved in di same accident. Another option nah to include instructions in a will or inside a safe.

Dis may be seem risky, someone knowing how to access our wallet, especially since something could happen in our relationship with dat  person. But remember dat you always have di possibility to exchange your wallet money, with another recovery phrase, in case of any disagreement. Di most important thing is to choose people you really trust.

In di last case, if you no want to create this plan B, you fit be another "donor" to di network, with a wallet dat could be worth thousands in 100 years, without anyone being able to touch am.

I hope dis article dey useful for everyone, and dat e get reminded you of some useful aspects for those who already use some of these methods.
Not all of di suggestions presented may be ideas, they are just some ideas of what you can do, and dey fit even combine with each other.
If you use or know other techniques, share, in order to enrich dis topic.

Original topic: How to backup multiple seed derived from one: BIP-85
Author: Forsyth Jones

I dey impressed by how small content dem get related to BIP-85, wey be one of di most interesting features ever implemented in di Bitcoin code and wey dey make life easier for those who maintain multiple seeds due to having to create seeds for each occasion or device.

Many people dey use more than one recovery seed for different purposes or on different wallets, making di backup process laborious and boring, I do some research on Google, I com find dis reddit article and so far nahim be di  best explanation about BIP-85. I use am as a basis to write dis post and added more technical details.

BIP39 mnemonics dey carry an incredible amount of information: a hex seed dat  generates di BIP32 root key (xpriv), from which you fit generate infinite addresses for each derivation path, and if you add a passphrase, you fit generate new BIP32 extended keys, child keys, etc. BIP-85 nah simply a function wey dey mathematically derive in a deterministically way new values such as mnemonics, extended keys, WIF keys (and even passwords) from your seed, acting as a parent seed or master seed. Derived seeds dey unique and dem get no relation to each other; you no fit use a child seed to calculate another seed derived from di parent seed, neither can dey  be traced back to di value of di parent seed. You fit use di  parent seed to recreate any derived seed.

Just as your recovery seed dey always generates di same keys and addresses for a wallet, with BIP85, your seed go dey always generate di  same child seeds using an index number. I should also mention dat e dey impossible for anyone with a child seed and its index number to calculate di parent seed wey generate am. Di derived seed cannot be reverse engineered to determine di parent seed. If one or more seeds are compromised, di parent seed go still dey safe.

With di determinable disorderliness generated by BIP85 from your parent seed, you fit create a variety of seeds to set up virtually any type of wallet or for friends and family by assigning an index to each of dem, remembering dat each index dey generate a different child seed. Since di calculations wey dey involve are repeatable (deterministic), you only need to backup di parent seed and remember di index number, and whenever you want, you fit use di parent seed to derive di child seed by specifying di index number of di child seed.

How BIP85 go take help you make the most of your wallet?

You fit use your current recovery seed or create a new one if you prefer, but no use am as your wallet. Instead, use dat seed as a parent seed with a BIP85 index number to generate child seeds.

For example, you fit assign an index like "0" to use as your desktop wallet, you fit use index "1" to use as your mobile wallet, and so on. You have saved 2 seeds in one (parent seed).

Combining BIP85 + Passphrase

E dey extremely important dat you have come dis far and fully understand how di passphrase and BIP85 work, otherwise you dey run di risk of doing something you may regret! Dis nah where we start to add more complexity by bringing more security.

When you dey add a passphrase, di derived child seeds go dey completely different due to di use of di passphrase, so if you are going to use a passphrase, you must save di parent seed, passphrase and di index number, otherwise you no go be able to derive di seeds derived by di original seed + passphrase.

Combining BIP85 by deriving a new child seed dey add an extra layer of security with di passphrase, di generated child seeds go dey fully protected by di passphrase. You fit think of dis as a second factor of authentication, so even if your parent seed dey compromised, since your child seeds are protected by di passphrase, these child seeds go only be accessible if you have di combination: parent seed + passphrase + index number used.

In short...

Child seeds wey dem derive from di parent seed without passphrase = Anyone wey get your parent seed don get access to all child seeds derived from di parent seed through their index numbers. All di attacker fit do nah try to guess your child seed with a balance by trial and error or by using a computer to brute force am.

Child seeds wey dem derive from di parent seed with passphrase = Your parent seed, even if compromised, anyone wey get your parent seed but not di passphrase, DOES NOT have access to di child seeds derived from your seed through BIP85 in combination  with di passphrase, because to generate di same child seeds, both di parent seed + passphrase are needed and dem also get the index number, in case di user used a completely random index number.

Disadvantages...

Unfortunately, despite being an incredible feature, e dey present in few wallets, even for most hardware wallets e no dey present, but you fit use di iancoleman script and similar ones to run am offline and generate your child seeds.

E dey very complex for beginners, so at least in my opinion, i do not encourage its use if you be complete beginner, because despite di practicality and extra security provided, e fit bring a big headache if you no get enough knowledge and you no dey aware of di risks.

Some wallets dat I am aware of dat support BIP-85:

  • Coldcard
  • Passport batch 2
  • Bitbox02
  • JADE Blockstream
  • SeedSigner DIY
  • Krux
  • Specter DIY
  • Airgap

Dem get more wallets wey get such support, but i did not mention dem here for these reasons: i no dey recommend dem and/or I have never used dem.

Have you ever used di BIP85? Do you think e dey add any practicality to your setup?

Below i leave all di links I don gather wey dey address di subject.
