With some free time today at work,, I decided to test my luck and see how many Satoshi's I could get in 15 minutes. This was to give myself a base line and try to contribute some useful information to the thread. I was at work and at the same time multi-tasking with my job so wasn't going to be a record breaker.

So in that 15 minutes, I got 20770 Satoshi.
If I times that 4 to get 1 hour, that is 83,080 Satoshi.
83,080 Satoshi = 0.0008308 BTC
0.0008308 BTC @ 240USD/BTC = USD $ 0.199392
In 12 Hours I would earn USD $2.3927

I don't think I'm going to quit my day job  Grin

0,12 BTC ... if lucky.

i'm not lucky.

Cheesy so i wait for the 2016 halving instead.
What would the halving possibly deliver in terms of making BTC? if anything we'll make even less BTC (considering the price should go up).

Well due to supply and demand the value of bitcoin should go up. Let's hope there either the same or much more demand for bitcoin when it happens and the value could skyrocket.

Nice experiment. I didn't think that it would be so much. Of course, $2.40 for 12 hours is not much for people from the developed world, but for people from developing countries it is much more as they usually have to spend for a day  Shocked

there is at least 50% chance that it will go up, and 50 % that numbers of miner will go down, which will result in a lower price

it's very unlikely that we will stay at current situation, this at least should be guaranteed

I've never been a fan of faucets personally. Just a bunch of ads. You should join a sig campaign if you're looking for a small amount of easy bitcoin income.

When I do article writing, I earn in the range of $10-15 per hour. The real joke is that I earn less than that ($8-10 per hour) with my real job (GIS Analysis). The regular work is around 30 hours a week, while I do 4-5 hours of article writing every week (don't have much time for that activity). So the final figure comes to around $300 per week, or BTC1.20. I was never a fan of faucets.

None of the sig campaigns are that high-paying. The maximum they will pay you is $2 to $3 per hour (considering it takes 5-10 minutes to make a post).

Don't waste your time in faucets they are useless and you probably will spend more than 15 hours to even receive minimum wage. Try to join a signature campaign .

Yes. Something about free money makes us lose focus on what's actually going on. We all want a get rich quick scheme but they are usually too good to be true. When you do the calculations and convert to USD you will see how little you are actually making with faucets. But still we do it - probably has something to do with human psychology and maybe related to gambling.

Some people hope, that one day satoshi would be worth a buck - so if it's that easy to get some now, why not?  Wink
Holding and investing (or gambling  Grin) your satoshis are the only reasonable way to use faucets - trying to cash out that pennies is definitely not worth effort.
Indeed. We are enslaved by money and we're usually trading in time of our lives to earn some. It is what it is. I've stated a pretty valid point though. It is much better to do a hard job outside than to sit inside and use faucets.
Satoshi won't be worth a buck. That's just too much. It might be after Bitcoin gets adopted by all the aliens in the universe in the year 75 463.

It highly depends on what someone's life priorities are. If you don't want to spend your lifetime on working for someone else or being a "modern slave", making earnings from faucets (even if it is much less money than working for someone) can be very satisfying.

So you're saying that the faucet owner isn't making money?  Roll Eyes
If you could earn 100 000$ or 10 000$ you should the 10k version because you don't want to work for someone else? That is highly illogical.

I've never heard anyone claim clicking on faucets for dust is satisfying. I think most people seem to be dissatisfied with the piddly amount they earn from them hence why they always ask on here for alternatives. I think newbs just get excited by the prospect of free coins no matter how small but they soon realize they're wasting their time.

The thing is, faucets and sig campaings tend to keep the same payment prices when the Bitcoin price goes down (just like now, they should be way higher) but when the price goes up, faucets and sig campaings keep the same payments.
What I say is, they should give payments in a less volatile currency (USD or EUR) and pay the equivalent in BTC, for a more steady income.

To be entirely honest here, earning from faucets can be quite a difficult thing to do, mostly due to the fact that many offer incredibly small payouts.

Let's take the Freebitcoin.in faucet as an example. You'll earn 0.000008 BTC every hour, which, if calculated, results in 0.06912 per year as long as the faucet is mined every hour. Now, if we take this as the average and multiply it with 5 faucets, it brings in 0.34 BTC per year.

Either I am doing something wrong, or they just aren't that profitable for the time being.

Yeah, moreover it is very unlikely a normal person can be doing this manually and on time. It's stressful even. Oh, to the good ol' days when Gavin's faucet gave out entire bitcoins...

You have not? I've seen this in the past. Are you a newer member here?
Faucets were a 'thing' in the past. They still persist but are quite useless. Hoping for something that is highly unlikely to happen is also illogical (0.001 BTC to be worth 300$).
People need to stop wasting their time. Life is limited, or so they say.
