Of course I'm not certain but I doubt that address belongs to Pirate. If it did it would mean he owes at least 1 million BTC on paper, likely much more.

http://donateathome.org/show_user.php?userid=818 - GregK on a bitcoin based site, having contributed significant hashing power
http://sampleswap.org/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=138850 - GregK on another site that takes bitcoin
http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=3467&nowrap=true#38300 - GregK on another site related to CPU/GPU based folding where he has contributed hashing power yet again. Contains discussion about bitcoin.

May as well include the initial evidence from the old thread since most probably haven't seen it.

Ahoy, pirates, bucanners, freebooters, corsaires,

This Saturday's Pirate Ride may be sailing from a different port. LBJ Park in Stonewall, to be specific. Looks like another gale-force day, similar to last Saturday. If only we could reef our sails.

Forecast points to gusting winds from north and northwest. I suggest two possible routes. One is the Sandy loop, probably ridden counter-clockwise. The other would incorporate Cave Creek and then up towards Willow City and meandering back via Wahrmund-Ahrens and North Grape Creek Rds.

I am looking for 1.5 to 2 hours of steady, more-or-less earnest cruising up and down hills, mostly to burn some calories and stimulate mitochondria multiplication. For those still interested in crushing hills in advance of West Texas climbing, well, my period for that training will have passed. (I may punctuate the group ride with some individual TT efforts once back at the park, as a final fitness honing effort before beginning sincere tapering for the Big Event.)

Open to other suggestions and comments. Hope to post a more concrete description tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest.

And by all means, if some Pirates prefer to ride out of Fred proper, please don't hesitate to post a "competing" ride.

--Greg Kagay

This is where his name pirateat40 comes from.

Pirate had originally been involved in folding based projects when he discovered bitcoin. Since he had already been folding he had the hardware for mining as proven by his early interest in mining when he joined these forums, as well as selling hardware that he already had. He progressed to other areas including the buying up of debt when he came up with his scheme.

I've been a ghost on this forum for a while but have just signed up for an account.
[SNIP]

Cool story bro.

I think everyone invested should agree to accept interest payments up to the day he announced closure and no more, I think even then you'd be lucky to get your money back.

If that's your position, why bother DOXing "Trendon Shavers [et al]" in one of your earliest posts?  I don't come around here much, but there's been plenty of BTC fiascos this year...Y U chime in on this one?

We could get an old chinese guy that looks like something like a Chinese marshal arts master to sit on a high chair looking down at the action and doing commentary as everyone battles for the glory of their country and the hope of walking away with 40k cash.

In the interests of realism, make sure your marshal martial arts master has chopsticks hanging from his upper lip while on camera.

Just caught up reading about 8 pages, and what surprised me most is that the people calling for- or condoning- involving pirate's family in any way are quite blind to what they are actually proposing.

They were blind to invest, it shouldn't surprise anyone that they're still blind now.  The young can be excused for thinking "I"ll get him - and if I can't get him, I'll get his family".  Younger fools typically don't have the knowledge/resources to act.  Older fools who think violence is a solution to their problems typically end up incarcerated (or dead).

I wouldn't assume that these 100K are headed for liquidation at Gox,
(unless Pirateat40 controls 100 or so Gox accounts, which is unlikely)
since this is now stolen money, and since that would be a bit transparent.

Placing 1M USD of stolen money on an exchange right now would be massive stupid risk.
More likely headed for cold storage (a rock under a tree in a hayfield) or something.

I thought Gox was capable of blacklisting coins. Why don't they track the coins now? That way they would't let him cash out the stolen coins.

Pirate has moved around so many coins from so many people so that by now nobody knows who owns what. It's unfeasible to blacklist BTCST coins.

My guess would be that most of the coins that were sent to him have been washed at GPUMAX.  "The Coins" aren't "The Coins" any more - they're freshly mined coins courtesy of GPUMax Hashers.

at a maximum rate of 50 btc every ten minutes? It's far less than that for GPUmax. That would take forever wouldn't it?

Yes. Also, why don't they track the coins of all "investors" in this scheme who were silent and happy and compliant as they were receiving their payments over weeks and months...? After all, these coins were "stolen" from other participants in this scheme.

Everyone was perfectly fine cashing out other people's coins, no questions asked. Now that the supply of assholes gaping with greed has dried out, they crawl out crying for their "stolen" coins.

They're there, in their room.

You wonder who's cleaning the dropbox? It can only be Pirate himself. All that info has been there for a long time. Now things went wrong and he's covering his tracks. Should have done that earlier.
Very hard to believe that his blonde girlfriend is cleaning his dropbox after 11 months.

While my question was more rhetorical, I believe there are at least two options as to who is cleaning it.  The two people known to have used the dropbox: pirate or gregk.

Though regardless of who is cleaning it, the simple fact that it is now being cleaned suggests that there is indeed a  link between the two.  I think it is safe to assume that pirate and gregk are either associates or the same person.

Whoever mentions blacklisting coins can go choke on a cock. Especially since no one has a clue who's wallent that is. Tainting certain coins has been discussed here a lot and it's stupid and verg harmful to bitcoin as a whole.

Anyone who actually has serious money tied up with this should have gotten a lawyer by now and started the process along. A lot can be revealed with civil suit subpoenas especially if done in a timely manner.
