I suggest reading how to set a static IP on computer.  Set static and same subnet, etc. With this connect miner to straight to PC.  You want to turn miner into .0.1 range or do dhcp.   I like static IP's, but for you I'm not sure DHCP might not be easier.

You already have a router.  You do not need to buy another router.

You need to look into getting S3 to work with current router.

*edit for new question.  If you are able to change router IP without stoping other devices from working.  You could set router to 192.168.1.1 as ip range.

I am a little afraid of this route as I think there is a chance something goes wrong and you will not have internet.

Ok,before you buy a router.Take picture of your modem for us,the backside where all the plugs are & give us the model #.

My modem has only 1 ethernet jack & no wireless,so I needed a router for my 5 computers & several wireless devices.

My friend has the same ISP has a modem with a router & wireless built in to it.

Let's see what you have & go from there  Wink

Dude, you can change the IP of the miner (we have been through this)..........you can't change the IP or subnet of your modem & still have internet.I may be wrong, but I don't think I am.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.0

Section "Setup IP address on your computer"

I don't think a router using a 1 subnet will work on a modem using a 0 subnet,again I may be wrong  Roll Eyes

My post from awhile ago:

Your IP for your PC is 192.168.0.100,that is the IPV4.

Your default gateway is 192.168.0.1 (modem or router).

You need to change the miner to your subnet, 192.168.0.110 should work. The 0 is YOUR subnet, the miner is on a 1 subnet, you won't see it until you switch it to 0.Even the router/modem may not see it,but you get to it by your browser.

You will need to change your PC IP to 192.168.1.100 ,S3's default IP is 192.168.1.99.So unplug your PC ethernet from the router/modem & plug it into the miner.

Now just follow those instructions to change your PC to 192.168.1.101.

Now you can type 192.168.1.99 in a browser & change the miner to YOUR subnet,192.168.0.110(under network tab WAN section, use the edit button & save). When your done, plug the miner into your router(shut the miner off for 30 seconds & power it back up to make the changes stick).

& reset your PC to back to your subnet (192.168.0.100) & plug the ethernet back in the router. Then you should be able to type 192.168.0.110 & it should be there.

If you get a new router I'm not sure if it will be 192.168.1 or 0.Since your modem is a 0 subnet I'd assume it would still be a 0 subnet,I'm not an expert network guru.

Its is confusing, glad I never had to do it,Good Luck!!  Wink
