I don't want to jump the gun before Elianite can confirm if this is something to move ahead with, but thinking out loud, perhaps 100 holos or a few more just in case of mistakes in applying them.  But since fewer are currently reserved perhaps less would be needed now.

I wonder if applying a holo to a glossy front cover would come off too easy, so the inside page would be better to affix to?

Agreed, the inside cover should attach better and having an original signature with an embossing seal would be even better. It will take another week or two to order and cost another $40-$60. At least that is what it cost back when I was a notary in a previous life. I don't know if Elianite will want to mess with it, but it would look sharp. USA customers could funded their own wallets with the 0.001btc in order to avoid any legal issues or maybe a third party could handle any USA shipping to avoid selling directly to USA customs. I am guessing there are only a handful of us.   

Since I'm editing the book, I could likely ship to US customers.

But since we don't want legal issues, I don't think we want to deal with funding them ourselves.  Maybe more of the Lealana model of buyer funded?

There would also be a need to generate the wallets / keys to place under the holos. They could all be self funded if needs be.

The more I think on this, the more I like it. If / when bitcoin value increases again, I love the thought of the book doing the same

They have some large holograms that look pretty cool. I think a small round hologram might not look good on a book.

I personally have 0 experience dealing with private keys and adding them to holograms.

Here is an idea: perhaps some manufacturer is willing to donate 100 (+10% for errors) holograms. These could already have the private key added, with the 'completed' sticker stuck to a'sticker paper' from which I can pull it off and place it directly on the book. This would be free advertising for you, as it would bring publicity to your brand.

I like the hologram/address idea.  Reminds me of Kramer's Coffee Table Book.  If you don't have a Bitcoin wallet, it turns into a Bitcoin wallet!

This would be a good idea for a poster or something displaying all of the holograms in one shot.
Or make it like a coin (sticker/hologram) collecting book.....

A major downfall is the most prized holograms (casascius) would be unattainable.  I think a custom Encyclopedia hologram and a wallet would be cool though.

Holograms from whichever manufacturer will need to mark the holograms to say it's purpose (for this book). It would be very unsafe otherwise.

I don't believe he wants any communication from previous contacts/customers.  I could be wrong but that was the impression I received.

Wait? Why is Ravenbit closing shop? Where and when did he announce this?
As far as I remember he announced that he was already working on 2016 coins and that the dies were alread undergoing manufacture..

Did he give any reason why he decided to move on? It seems rather sudden, maybe I missed an explanation, all I see is the post on the 25th of January. It's unfortunate with how popular the Ravenbit coins were.

We did this in the interest of time and being able to make our project manageable.  I'm sure we'll add paper wallets and cards in future editions.  I do collect paper wallets such as PaperSafe and I have a ton of respect in their quality.  Perhaps it's something we could add, to your point.  Something like a few pics of Bitbills, PaperSafe, Bitcoin Suisse Notes, Bit card.de, Etc all in 1 page?  Even Casacius did a paper wallet before the coins, if I recall.

I know monkeynuts has a picture of it.  It was something like 12 public addresses on a sheet of paper with a personal signature of Mike C over some hologram or other item, if I recall.  It wasn't very fancy looking.

At this point, getting this done is starting to be the biggest priority. There is a photo of a Bitbill and an explanation of paper wallets and their significance. I dont want to keep people waiting; I personally would be getting impatient around this point if I had pre-ordered a long time ago. We are almost done. Its mostly formatting right now.
