The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Hi all, hoping someone here can clue me in on BATA -

I own quite a lot - I think I bought a small amount on a random tip a good while (over a year?) ago - they seem to have nicely gained in price and are now worth a not unsubstantial amount of BTC.
However I notice that for the last month or so I have not been able to move them in my Bittrex account - the wallet is locked as "under maintenance". I see one reference to this in the thread above (recently - sorry I don't have time to read a whole 125 page thread). But it doesn't really make it clear what the issue is.
So can someone tell me what is so good about this coin? Why can't I move my BATA balance on Bitrex (not even sure if I want to - if there is good reason I will probably just hold onto it - give me a reason!).

Bittrex will stay in maintenance until we switch to hybrid mode. This will be soon, I think in the next two weeks.

"Bittrex Under Maintenance"
This means that no deposit or withdrawals of BTA until our Hybrid Pow/Pos Wallet is released. This is a security measure triggered by multiple double spend attacks on a number of POW based cryptocurrencies. For more information regarding double spending visit: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Double-spending

Reasons to hold onto BTA are the developments due soon:

https://bata.io/development

We are sitting at 70,139.15% all time growth, which has been achieved with no funding, or premine. Not many other cryptocurrencies can have those kind of stats.

I think the introduction of the new wallet will restore some faith in the coin and we should see a steady price increase. When masternodes are iimplemented we should see the price soar. 10k is needed to run a masternode, so I'd hold for now. If you've got more than 10k then you might want to lock into some profit, saving enough for a masternode.

Thanks guys, that is all really helpful. Not panicking or anything, just thought it was strange I haven't been able to move my BATA for so long.
I will definitely be holding onto them as they have performed well for me so far.

Development Update via Slack:

Midnightminer:
"I am moving towards getting the wallet out of maintenance on Bittrex.  That means solving the 51% attack.  There are 2 paths I am taking this week.  Continue the update of the wallet to Core 0.12 and implementing dynamic checkpoints in the current wallet version."

Any news on the master nodes and how to run it???

Also I would like to know if you transfer BTA to cold storage on what website can I enter the shared key the amount of coins (just like https://blockchain.info).

Bta should be in the top 10 or 20 where it belong Smiley, how can we achieve that.

At present development is working dynamic checkpoints. Our source code (0.10.4) is much newer than those other crypto's that have dynamic checkpoints - most have static checkpoints, which we currently do. Therefore more coding is required than a copy and paste. Once midnightminer is completed we will be able to update Bittrex and all other wallets. Midnightminer has been working day and night on the update.

Once this is completed we will update you to the progress on all projects.

From BTA Slack

midnightminer:

Some not very interesting news but important: Bata blockchain enforced version 4 of the blocks at Block # 675533

Which means wallets (before 0.10) that do not support version 4 will be stuck at this block.

Please answer me if the Bleutrade funds are safe and sound.

Yes, all funds held in Bittrex and other exchanges, or your wallets are safe.
Precautions are careful taken to ensure the integrity of the network remains a priority during these upgrades.

Thanks for your patience.

Can we possibly get some more nodes to sync. our wallets?

Yes, we're working on setting up additional seed nodes, and increasing network reliability.

So, it seems 10,000 BTA for an Ubernode when they are available, is that right?
