Wow.... $18 000 in a fanny pack.... what bank does not want 18k deposits?

Anything related to Silkroad is a hot potato and people would think twice to donate, if they not sure that the money is going to someone who is innocent and a real victim.

They will also not donate to a anonymous bitcoin address. {Make a youtube video, and proof that it's real}

I guess they bounced a check a few years ago and you know how bank fees can spiral out of control, so when that happens you get put on a list and you cant open a bank account, at least thats what his wife said was the reason they didn't have a checking account, they wanted one, but couldnt get one. So, it makes sense to me why they had that much cash on hand. it wast small bills either, all big bills and wrapped in the banks wrapping and in the banks envelope. Its amazing that they can seize money without a trial. sounds unconstitutional to me...Especially when you can prove where the money came from.. now, if was all in 20s tens, and all wadded up or looked used, then it would look fishy, but crisp 100 dollar bills? fucking government.

BTW, I donated a hundred bucks to the family..

I guess you're right. Besides, it's ONLY $50K for a dude that Ross wanted dead, hence the faking of first the water torture in a bathtub at a hotel then smothered and covered him like Waffle House hash browns to show Ross pics of a limp body so that the balance of the hit could be made: http://www.wired.com/2015/04/silk-road-1/.

The Feds got Green on his feet. They had a lot of questions, starting with why he had $23,000 cash in his fanny pack and who was on the other end of the encrypted chat dialogs on his computer. Green said, improbably, that the money was his tax return. He also asked for his pain medication. Instead they escorted him to the door and into a squad car, informing him that he’d be booked for possession of 1,092 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute.

One of the biggest blows came due to the fact we didn't use a bank account and kept our cash and savings at home. At the time of his arrest, Curtis had his life savings of $18,000 in his fanny pack. The money was confiscated as being allegedly proceeds of crime. This was not true but the money was never recovered.

There is a Paypal account linked as payment to one of his websites, imworks.guru that belongs to Tanya Jones, here is the facebook account for that person: https://www.facebook.com/tonya.jones.5454021

and maybe an address: 5252 Edgewood Drive
Provo, UT 8604

and maybe an email address: lfoutch23@gmail.com

Hmm, I actually used to live within 15 miles or so from this address, in fact, 30 years ago, I lived on that street. Pm me any info you can, not just links, Maybe ill go knock on the door and ask, but i bet he lives in provo, but thats not the right street address, i could be wrong, but scammers  usually dont give their personal info out.

It looks like that Tanya Jones is into MLM's  but there is probably a connection.

that is Actually Tonya Jones, although her 1 facebook picture leaves some suspicion as to who she really is... I do not think it is actually Ben J Johnson.. just an affiliation...

she has since been added to my facebook group and has said she has no further connection with Ben... even though she has his new aliases added to her accts...

Two different amounts in the fanny pack.

Ironic, to read two different accounts of two different Tonya loosely linked to the OP.

my money is on that Variety Jones is That mangoose guy/thomas clark....

Maybe I could help clarify a few things.. I asked tonya about that tonya jones, Im sure its a total coincidence.. she has no idea who that person is. About the transactions, She stated that Curtis has been buying ans selling bitcoin since 2011, and he used mtgox, so no surprise that there are sr connections.. anything particular you want me to ask her?

Also, i asked her about the money.. they took 18k from his fanny pack and Carl and Shaun bridges took 4k from his dwolla account. hence it equals 23k.. From what she understands, is that carl and shaun pocketed that money, it wasnt turned over to their superiors...

Yes, as devote mormons, this has been very embarrassing for the family i guess. I do know that their next door neighbor, who is there ecclisastical (spelling) leader, or one of them, actually dumped cat and dog shit on their front door soon after this happened. not very christ like if you ask me... In fact, they continue to get death threats. Tonya is a fantastic lady..

lol, i almost forgot... Carl took over the mtgox account and moved his stolen money into Curtis' account. if you look at the dates,  coins were moved to from the account when he was supposed to be dead.EDIT> I was wrong.. so forget what i just said, lol...This whole case is surreal. You can't make this shit up, lol...

Edit again. I was thinking, I wonder how many coins have been thru the silk road or one one the dark web places? I bet millions passed thru there, so odds are, many of us probably have SR coins somewhere in our wallets, or at least they were there at one point, lol.... i wonder what the exact data is?

My Google Fu fees are generally ~$100/hr. For Vod, I charge exactly $314.15/hr because I can run rings around him.  Wink

oh yea, i remember that. I never did get my 10btc  he said he would pay me 4btc becasue the value skyrocketed, which I agreed to, but never got it.. it was that mathew wright scam that he pulled... I believe that was a mtgox account. I used that or bitinstant back then. I did have a online wallet, but it was rarely used. I foolishly trusted 3rd parties, now, I wouldnt let anyone else but me control my coins.., i think, its now defunct, but this was when bitcoin was sub 10 dollars, boy, to have those 300 or so coins back now (or when we hit the all time high)..... I thought you were talking about someone else, not me, lol..

Also, your assuming that just because one used silk road that they purchased drugs or something illegal? Its none of your damn business, but  Ill admit, I purchased 8 hp touchpads from silk  road, I finalized early  and was scammed... the value was right around 800  bucks, hp was unloading them for 25 bucks or something, so I thought 100 a piece was a deal, before they stopped making them, they sold for like 600 a piece. it was for the scammer, lol... that one hurt, i didnt have much money and it wiped me out, i was planning on reselling them.. hard lesson...

I still dont know what sending coins to silk road has to do with anything....you do realize that during 2011 and 2012 there were more non drug items than drug items for sale, for some unknown reason, drugs happened to be their best seller, i guess, lol..., i believed that changed in 2013 when drugs were like 3 to 1 on non  drug items... but what does this have anything to do with his gofundme campaign.. I chose to give, call me crazy.. price of btc back then was about 9 bucks, but it would vary from 5-10 if i recall... man, to have a time machine..

Also, that item where you bring up tonya jones is misleading.. someone was talking about some sort of scam and gave the name and address, it had nothing to with me, since I lived in the same county, i offered to drive over and knock on the door for the person that was ripped off. you make is sound as if It was my business or something, I  was just trying to help since I knew the area...

Ooch! I guess it's safe to assume that your ~17 BTC purchase from SilkRoad 11 days prior went smoothly.

https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/db0b5345b13b044bf34472c5c693805e35c588f28992f6441d670ed230fb322f

The very next transaction - sans fees - was to 1DEA7x5XzSo27ku2otPy5NcNNBPs7B4PBF.

https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/2227017fa23cad804db9753364c69054e77908bc3db4c3288139aa929a508c15

I guess your definition of being wiped out is different than my definition of being wiped out, i.e., spending ~77 BTC two days later:

https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/06b986b1a3c4c16ed11898c9ce9fd5649bd5f3a6d55ca3c29c80e89d653821ca

And, on the same day (~13 hours later), spending another ~55 BTC, with ~28 BTC going to SilkRoad: https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/d66464ab2278d16b7bb0cd3eb239deb718ae7296321a563d2767ce18606a20c7.

And, ~4 days later, spending another ~642 BTC: https://www.walletexplorer.com/txid/4ddcbf88874881415c8f491847883691e94bdcbb644a2183a7573d8f88fd39eb

Yep, you got me... I was stoned out of my mind. wait, ive never done an illegal drug in my life, must of been too much caffeine.... you are taking this off topic... please stop posting....

Did you ever check out Silk road? there were tons of cool stuff to purchase, and no, im not talking about drugs. I purchased the computers, that i was scammed, i purchased some silver and an uncut diamond, a couple pair of sunglasses from china, and the best thing that I bought was coupons from purple lotus, ill never forget that name..he had some great coupons.. so yea, im guilty of buying off silk road, certainly doesn't mean i purchased drugs, not like I care if others did, i dont judge others, or try not to...

Oh, i almost forgot, i purchased a graphics card for mining... Anything else I can do for you?  I looked at the date, and the date of purchase was months before what you are posting, about the computers, it seemed like i was scammed in the late fall of 2011 or early 2012..but Im pretty sure that was my first purchase, not 100 percent sure though..

The coupons cost me like 25 or 30 bucks, i think, could have been a bit more, cant remember the prices of the other items, but silver was close to spot, the uncut diamond turned out to be a great deal, i want to say it was around 500 bucks, could have been more.

So, you are saying that just because one purchases from silk road they are buying drugs? There were some great deals, I know of some people would go sell an item just to use the escrow system. I think that a legal SR would work out quite well, if done right.. meaning, just be like ebay, but use bitcoins. I know there was a site that tried to do that, but the software sucked and was slow, I think DPR could have done silk road without the drugs and still have been successful..

Drug purchases aside, you just penned that a ~200 BTC purchase nearly wiped you out, but 4 days later you spent ~642 BTC, not to mention alluding to this SR buy being a one time deal due to a great deal, and now you want me to quit posting in this thread. Color me confused. Doesn't sound very Mormon-esque to me.

wiped out my savings. Also, maybe when i say it wiped me out, it wiped me out of all the "extra" money I could spend. its been so long, i cant remember the exact financial situation it put me in, but it hurt me.i bought and sold bitcoins for months, bought low sold high.. did this for about a year or 2, until bitcoin got so expensive it got out of my league.. but when it was 10 dollars, it was a great way to make money.... I cant remember the exact dates of when I purchased them.. i know you want me to be this bad guy.. sorry to disappoint. Im far from perfect, but one thing im not is a lier or a thief, can you say the same?

Oh yea, i mined bitcoins from early 2011 til I finally got my machines from BFL.. Why the interest? is this your new project? Also, who made you my judge? you should probably spend more time on bettering yourself than trying to find fault in others.. it will do you and the world a lot of good...

BTW, who said I was a Mormon?

now I know why people say "Dont feed the trolls"

Firstly, you said you're a Mormon via other site(s) I've found, but being kind by not posting the links.

Secondly, still color "now-I'm-a-troll" confused...

Quote
...I just noticed that Curtis Greens family set up a go fund me campaign to help fight against the bad agent...

I happen to know the family pretty well (i dated his Daughter a few years ago). tonya, his wife set it up. She actually tried to get it going a few days ago. but if you look at the family picture she used and look at her facebook which she posted it on, i think, you will see that they are the same person . I believe she posted it on her facebook.  she has never had any experience with gofund me. how can i get her to prove its legit?

What do you about those that helped bring Silk road down?

Is there some information that this question is based on? I haven't heard about people helping to bring down Silk Road. Who helped?

Anyway, my position is that the destruction of Silk Road is good for Bitcoin, but it is bad for humanity.

I was wondering when someone would post this question.  I was going to post a "fund" for an individual that got caught up in the SR thing (its not Nod, the guy in washington, either). A basic fund for those that need help in defending themselves against the government.. You know the guy in Washington Nod? the number one seller on SR? He was busted but is working out a deal, probably to get his suppliers, but people like him (and others) that need financial support.

The govt. comes in and takes all belongings, unless you can hide them. So, while this Nod guy made a lot of money, I would bet he cant access any of it and it will  be seized, but im using him as an example really.

If a fund were set up to help those that are going to testify against DPR, would people donate?  I guess ill never find out unless I really set up an address and site to help some people that were strong armed to help the government and dont have a lot of money to fight them (govt.)

In my opinion, doesn't matter if they were strong armed to help or volunteered, they are heroes. They don't HAVE to help.

I say it's now quite obvious why you desire of me to quit posting in this thread, or is this post off-topic vis-à-vis not related to the OP in any way, shape or form?

Have to remember, that vendors on that silk road can hedge their btc to protect themselves against swings like this...I think it only costs them 4 percent or so, (been a long time since i read a thread over there, maybe its changed by now, but at least thats the way it was a couple months ago)

AR

Sure you can always do something. 4% sounds OK. But you also have to learn how to hedge and then hedge the deals. Does your time have no value?

I'm not positive since I'm not a user/seller of SR, but I've heard that the hedging is a built in functionality.  The 4% you pay is so you don't have to learn to do it yourself.

That is my understand as well just remember hedging simply transfers the volatility risk to someone else (in this case the site operator and/or backers providing the hedging).  If volatility increases the risk increases and either they are forced to stop offering it or charging more.   No matter who is doing the hedging volatility costs users who are using Bitcoin as a payment mechanism.  More volatility = higher costs and lower value/utility.

If they make an actual trade to back it, there is a very small window of vulnerability.

Just  checked it out.. It an automated system on SR. the admins take all the risk, all the vendor has to do is click a button to hedge. It looks like you just have to know what hedging is and then click the button. Man, there are some pretty business savy drug people.. Didn't realize that SR was that far in their thinking...

So, they obviously have figured out a way to help ease the minds of vendors that can't take the swings.

AR

"The admins, like your ex-girlfriend's father, take all the risk."

The last highlighted text implies that the SR was all about drugs, but you used it for everything but.

What I was talking about is Silk roads hedging system, how complicated it was. Nothing to do with the legal risks. just about how they took all the financial risk of the hedging system. if bitcoin made a big swing, the site could lose a large sum of money. Thats what i was talking about them taking the risk, and its obvious that ross made the sites specifically for drugs and guns, but took guns off or made another site., hence my comment about tech/ drug savvy admins. meaning Ross. I just recently figured out how Ross did it. and yea, most purchases that are done on silk road were drugs, even though there were more non drugs for sale. a recent article i read stated that 80 percent of all sales on SR were drug related, dont know how they can know for sure, but i wouldn't doubt it. There were many vendors that didnt sell any type of drug. In fact, If they didnt charge for a vending account, I was going to sell bitcoin tshirts on the site, glad i never did that, lol, just like a vendor in England that didnt sell drugs is suing the govt for his bitcoins back.

I think SR could have been successful without the need to sell drugs. But, its been nefarious things that drove the popularity of VHS tapes, and the rise of the internet( no pun intended), porn drove both of those to be popular (as you most likely know).. a lot of people attribute the success of bitcoin because of Silk road.

You are now on ignore, now off you go!! Go back to trolling BFL...
I can change colors and size too!

I just wanted to clarify one thing.. If adults want to do drugs and as long as they dont hurt an another person, then more power to them. IF they want to risk overdosing or ruining their life, then thats their choice. If you want to go smoke a doobie, then i think you should have that choice and right. I personally choose not to but I dont think badly of people that do. I think it was gutsy of Ross to start Silk road. But in the end, he acted just like a typical drug kingpin. I think things might have turned out differently had he stuck to his ideals. but power and greed over took him.. Most libertarians would agree with what silk road stood for. minus the murder for hires, etc.. Despite what the govt says, i think SR probably helped saves lives, but who knows for sure. I think the war on drugs has been a huge failure and we should rethink our tactics as a government, but its too big of a business. too many federal agents that need to be employed,  too many prisons that need to be filled. it trickles down. millions of jobs would be lost if we ended the the war on drugs. The War on drugs will probably never end, at least in our life time. We should take a page out of portugals book and decriminalize drugs.. its actually lowered the  crime rate there.

/end rant...

wiped out my savings.

Obvious new here, but have been lurking.. I  have been investing on and off with btc for more than a year. I've decided to help out and learn so im picking up my pick and shovel and am going to try my hand at mining. I realize that It may or not be profitable. that is not my concern. I want to learn.. if I make a buck, then thats a  plus...

Any help/advice is appreciated..

September 12, 2012, 12:46:06 PM CST: So, he tried his hand at mining, eh? I'm curious as to how much he spent to get into mining bitcoins.

Why do you think that BFL doesn't give out how many have actually ordered? I was thinking about ordering some more sc mini rigs, but how do we know that they haven't sold 500 TH's worth or more? I wont be buying any more until I get more info on what has been sold and to see what other companies are doing. For all we know, a  sc mini rig may only be worth 1k dollars or so.. Not 30k..

I think its not smart to invest any more into BFL right now. Not until we get a good idea of what the difficulty/BFL sales) is going to be... I'm already gambling, even though my orders were placed in the first month.

Those that are purchasing anything from here on out are REALLY taking a risk....

I bet that the price sc mini rig will be dramatically lower. Whos going to invest 30k when its impossible to ever recoup that much?

Now its a wait and see game..

BTW, as to order  numbers being wrong, I totally believe that the are grossly overestimated. When I was ordering, I actually placed like 4 or 5 different orders until everything was figured out and i made my decision on what to actually pay for...I guarantee that many people made just totally bogus numbers to mess with people and others were undecided and just haven't paid, etc. Only BFL knows the exact orders and they aint talkin'...
FUD

Of course its FUD. I have invested over 100k worth into BFL, trust me, Im rooting for them big time..But, If were starting to look at them today? yes, I probably would put in an order for a single or a jalepeno, but to lay out tens of thousands of dollars and not even having a clue on whats going to be delivered before you actually get them is a HUGE risk.. Even those of us that ordered in the first month are taking that risk.

Seriously, would you pay 30k for something that may not generate that much over a 4 years time?.. Granted, there are a lot of unknowns, if the bitcoin  jumps to 1000 us, then it really doesn't matter, but im assuming that the coins is at 15-18 by Jan...

All im saying is that its a HUGE risk to order now,  not saying that you shouldnt, anyone can do whatever with their money, but for myself, without knowing how many they have actually sold, Its hard to guage the income potential. Im not buying any more because I have a feeling that in a few months the sc mini rig will be selling for much less than it is today...

It's actually a good business decision not to let everyone know, that way they still receive their asking price. I can guarantee you if we actually knew the real  numbers, they wouldn't be getting as many orders as they are now... I still we be upgrading my single that i haven't paid for already. But until I get a good feel for what has been sold, etc I will be playing the waiting game. Granted, it could cost me money for doing this, but it could also be saving me some, too...

It's a damn shame that you have this troll, me, on ignore, for I'll now never have a chance to read your clever explanations to this post.

You just penned that you've been mining since early 2011, yet your very first post on this forum clearly depicts that you were going try your hand at mining circa mid-July, 2012, thus eliminating a typo on your part to mean early 2012 oppose to early 2011. Then, you spent ~$100K USD to try mining. Then, a few hundred dollar purchase on SR hurt you financially. Then, you spent three times the amount that hurt you financially four days later.

If the Greens are in such dire straits needing $50K USD, then why the fuck haven't they themselves put in one iota of effort to bring attention to their crowdfunding campaign? All I'm seeing is that effort by you with this thread, an effort you penned two years ago that you were planning on doing.

This entire crowdfunding campaign doesn't make any sense, with still nary a mention of its existence outside of this forum and Reddit in spite of 24 tweets (below) linking to the GFM page that Google felt is not important enough to even index those efforts:

I'm now going to do a test tweet via GFM and see how quickly Google indexes it. I'm guessing it'll show up.

Yes! The Marriott should have a record of the stay by the fake DEA thugs that gave Curtis Green four baths to convince Ross of SR that he's clean now.  Roll Eyes
