Takeover?

I heard georgem took this project over.

Yes, I have taken this project over, since Mr. Spread has completely disappeared since nearly 3 months ago.

The old thread contained alot of dead links and Mr. Spread's website (spreadcoin.net) has been dead since he left too.

With the new thread here I introduce working links/downloads and a new website.

That's the least I can do for now.

...

Now that everything is set, the real work starts...

Reserved for being on first page

Also, reading

Website is a killer  Wink

A quick sneak peak of how the new website & Ann thread will look like, and what kind of design elements they will include:

I will use a lot of such animations to visualize every aspect of spreadcoin and its servicenodes.
(they won't be GIFs when finalized but javascript driven realtime animations, but I will have to use GIFs for the ann thread here.)

PS: those simulations are not very accurate and are only here for visualisation purposes.

lol, I forgot to implement this GIF...

anyway, it will included when its time has come.

You don't need to upgrade if you downloaded the latest wallet Mr.Spread released in January.

Any miner in any assumed pool can always just steal the block reward instead of following the rules set up by the pool.

It's for your own good that I don't put your pool in the OP.

Damn - second page.

I was out jogging.  Anyway - congratulations Georgem on all your hard work.  Ever since Mr. Spread left I was unsure where this would lead.  I applaud your and the communities hard work and can't wait to start testing Servicenodes again! :-)

Some people like pools.

I like pools.

The only reason I don't mine on suprnova pool is, as someone else pointed out, he doesn't have a miner for windows and AMD.

In this instance, I think it is for pool operators to prove that they have a system for ensuring rewards can't be stolen by other miners before they get added to the OP?

In this instance, I think it is for pool operators to prove that they have a system for ensuring rewards can't be stolen by other miners before they get added to the OP?

Mr. Spread's code proves that a miner will always know the block and the private key before the pool does (the protocol ensures that), so this is already proof that a miner can do whatever he wants with that information before passing it on to the pool.

But... Maybe there is a way to create some kind of decentralized pool running on the upcoming servicenodes network?

A pool that is run by unneeded middlemen is a problem... because they will always pose a security risk (for themselves or other people)

A pool that is run by machines that have to follow strict protocol with no central control ?
I can live with that.
But I don't know if this is even possible.

Anyway, one rule of decentralization is to get rid of middlemen, not necessary pools.
But I do not know of any pool that is not run by middlemen.
The words "pools" and "middlemen" are equivalent at the moment and can be used interchangeably.
This could change.

Is anyone working on a way to get Spreadx11 working on an FPGA?  I could use a drop in power consumption. :-)  Would donate for a .bin.

The website header is amazing.

I've been following a couple of the nodes and they don't seem to be just gifs, you can following them for hours (well, a minute or two). Fantastic.
