Two new articles about Sia:

Sia: Decentralized Cloud Storage @ Core Media
http://coremedia.info/index.php/blockchain-news/item/380-sia-decentralized-cloud-storage

17 Boston Startups to Watch in 2017
http://bostinno.streetwise.co/2017/01/06/top-boston-tech-startups-17-to-watch-in-2017/

The second article is mentioning Nebulous Labs, the company that develops Sia.

In v1.2.0, Sia will implement a host Proof of Burn mechanism in which hosts have to burn certain siacoins to show that they are real and sincere for business to counter the sybil attack. When Sia network is getting mature, the estimate annual burned siacoins can be 0.1% to 0.5% of total available siacoins. The burned siacoins will offset the inflation in the long run. At some point, it could result in a deflation of siacoins.

Embarrassingly I still have an old siakey file from when I converted my siafunds (sianotes) from Nxt exchange, way back in the day. Will 1.2 have support for siakey wallet files? Is there a tutorial to make it work with the current wallet, I'm not very technical so would need a newbie guide. Thanks.

Nice team photo in the second article! If I didn't already know, I'd guess the dev's were a band from Boston, not a group of decentralized cloud storage guru's lol Cheesy

The Siafunds are supported by current Sia UI. You can receive and send Siafunds. To import Siafunds from the siakey, you need to use the terminal plugin in UI and type
siac wallet load siag [keyfile name]

Selling Siafunds if anyone is interested, 1.5btc per SiaFund or the equivalent in Sia. Would prefer Sia over BTC. PM me, escrow required.

I am trying to download the blockchain on the SIA UI v1.0.4 however i am hitting a few barriers. I have made it to block 83173 and now the UI just says 'siad has stopped' if i click 'start siad' it starts for about 3 seconds and then bins out again.

Is there any advice anyone can give me please? I have tried restarting the program but nothing changes.. I had previously tried re-syncing the BC after i got stuck at block 40XXX (can't remember specifically).

Sia UI V1.0.4 running on Windows 10 OS.
Cheers

It could be a memory problem. How much RAM do you have and how much is used during unlocking of the wallet?

Increased speed is crucial, as I know it's been a major hurdle for adoption thus far. Andromeda should really boost Sia's popularity among storage coins and alt's in general!

Nice work, dev's! Smiley

The Sia team will do an AMA (ask me anything) this Friday at 2pm EST on reddit (exact place to be announced later).

Please join them and take the opportunity to ask them any questions you have. For sure you will learn a lot about the Sia cloud storage platform and the next steps in its development process.

Good uptrend here! All alt green Q1 2017

Alts aren't soaring for me. Quite the otherwise, most of them including bts, eth and xmr, are strongly trending down.

This is the index that I've been using to track value in the altcoin market overall for the past several months. Quick and live chart to see where the alts are at. www.altindex.io

Still selling a few SiaFunds for Sia, please contact me on Slack @denzel. I have about 10SF left, possibly more for bulk, but I plan to keep many for myself.
