Are Siafunds supported in the latest release of Sia?

Yes, Sia Funds are supported in the CLI of both 0.5.2 and 0.6.0 however they are not supported with any GUI yet

are fees being paid to the 10,000 sia note holders yet?

Yes, but not much since there's not a lot of activity on the network until hosting/renting gets a little easier with the GUI and 1.0

are those payments to sia fund holders visible on any sia blockexplorer?

Won't your 'friend' get mad, if you start mining something else?! With 42 GPU's, you are making about $130 a day.

Siacoin price 0.00000117

Ya this is a fantastic increase. Sold 6 million Sia at 35 a while back!  Roll Eyes but was for a good cause as I reinvested it into picking 2 slightly used Litecoin mining rigs from someone who had got out of it.... I feel I have earned back in mining, the difference since, well almost ... who would have seen 117 now!!!  Cheesy

Still hodling a chunk of Sia coins for good measure

Taek and devs keep up the good work!

Hate to burst your bubble but is anyone actually using SIA Coin platform.....seems to me unlikely as there are a million other options for secure storage these days.

Have you heard Crypti? They have collaboration with the dev of Sia . Lisk is the 2nd generation Crypti which by the way has an affiliation with Microsoft

Hi I'm new here.  I have 42 cards R9 390 nitro 8 gb. I want to ask if someone can help me to setup  for solo mining because I'm girl and  I don't understand what should I do. Smiley  I mining etherium now my friend do everything install and make settings. But now I  want to mining sia but he can't  help me. So I looking for someone  to help me to start solo mining. I will pay if someone want to help me. /Sorry for my bad english/
First install Linux (easier to compile gominer) or (far less easy) keep windows
Install sia and let the sync run some hours. Unlock the wallet.
Install git and go.
Then install/compile gominer (you may need to install gcc libs and open cl libs : on windows, this is not easy).
run gominer and wait for the next block found.

Alternative : go with the miner from nebulouslab, but you need to launch one for each gpu : not very user friendly with 42 gpu.

Would it be possible to mine using a VPS?
The most profitable way is to solo mine with AMD GPU.

Do you have a tutorial somewhere to get started with AMD GPU mining? That very same setup can also be used for mining other things if i wanted to right?

I have the same questions here.

You won't get a lot of official answers here. BCT is no longer a focus for communicating to the public about SC. Yes, there is information on the official forum but I recommend the Slack channel for mining information if you don't find want you need on the forum. Links to both are in the OP.

Altcoinnews did a little write up on Siacoin yesterday. Not linking it because their site does toss an ad tracking script at you. I recommend noscript as a browser extension if you visit their website:

Siacoin Surges as Sia Plans to Come Out of Beta
Hans Lombardo June 7, 2016

As blockchain-based cloud storage startup Sia plans to come out of beta on 28 June, its native currency Siacoin has surged 1,700% in the last 5 months.

Siacoin’s market cap is now over $6.5 million, recently surpassing competitor Storj’s market cap by over $1.5 million. Siacoin is now traded on two additional new exchanges, YUNBI and Bitsquare. These exchanges have joined Poloniex, the first exchange to trade Siacoin. YUNBI has opened Siacoin to Chinese markets by selling Siacoin directly for Chinese yuan.

YUNBI’s Lao Mao commented on the addition:

“Your file is saved in decentralized mode. As long as the network operates, your files are storaging in the cyberspaces. No one can control, no one can spy on, and no one can therefore ask you to have a cup of tea (a proverb in Chinese)… SIA is the first truly commercial operating cloud storage projects…”

Jordan Horwich, one of Sia’s core developers, added:

“The past 5 months have been incredibly productive for us. We’ve made dramatic improvements to our core storage protocol and network efficiency. With v1 we are committing to providing a stable API with long term support. We are excited to see what people build on top of our platform. For end users we are also in the middle of overhauling our UI with significant usability improvements.”
