I've talked about it with friends, but haven't recommended it, since there are no business around where I am accepting bitcoin yet.

why you not introducing him to accpet or earning bitcoin ? Smiley
maybe he know that if he recommended it to his friend they won't accept it because they want more fiat money than bitcoin, even if they know that bitcoin is the easiest way to transact.
it differs from person to person and depends on where you live.
for instance if i want to make someone excited about bitcoin i have to show them how they can earn bitcoin and how they can profit from it by investing and trading. but since there is no place to spend it here, this restricts my options.

so you mean that if you are living in rural places like province. And i think its all depend the education stability of that person in bitcoin.

I have people coming up to me saying  heard about bitcoin on the internet/youtube. Popularity going up is usually a good sign of the value going up.

Everyone on here can't understand why their friends didn't accept Bitcoin when after a few years of media coverage, hype and mainstream use many on here had to go through to accept it.

I wonder if you same people will accept http://getgems.org/   will be massive in a few years?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing for fools.

I think they are getting carried away by the news and media who are constantly involved in attacking bitcoins and that is the reason they are finding it risky investment to make. And they know that its nature is volatile and doesn't guarantee you the profit and that is the reason they are hesitating in investing into bitcoins. Angry
I agree with this, and after I told someone, they asked me if they should go in, I said that it could all crash so there are risks etc

yeah, kinda!
i meant mostly in different countries. for example in my country there is not even one place that accepts bitcoin. and if i want to invite one of my friend to bitcoin, i can't introduce it as a currency that you can spend. it is just an investment that you can earn - trade - make profit.
but for example if steam starts accepting bitcoin, i am sure all my friends start buying and using bitcoin.

All my friends and family know about it, most of them through me although a couple even used it before me (thanks to DNMs). Only a handful use it actively but anyone in my circles knows they can ask me about it / purchase some through me.

Or you must say, if the bitcoin is starting to accept with the big company in your country. This would help you or in your country to grow or developed their economy.

bitcoin is what make your money worths much more then other kind of payments because you can pay sell or other stuff without those big fee inside it.... currently is hard to friends get attention on it because where they can spend them? exchanges? some deal with other person? to send it to family to convert it ? well we will have a time to be able to show and use the bitcoin on more places then now soo those would bring some more attention than nowadays the new users of bitcoin can play with the volatil of it or try to make the btc they got worth interest or invest it on a game....lets say nerds ,we that stay at computer atleast 1 hour daily are the most interested if your friends like this way well they will search about it and maybe join .

You must try explaining her the general idea on how bitcoin works and why people use it. If she wants to learn something more, try explaining how it is obtained and all the other technicalities involved.

tell to him, that bitcoin is money that can be moved faster and more simple than any other method existing nowadays, then you show him the wallet and how he can make a transaction

i did the same thing with my old parent and they understood it pretty fast

Will Bitcoin Rise Again to $60,000?

I recommended bitcoin to my brother and sold him some at $600 + . I felt so bad that I couldn't even go to his wedding, because his wife told him not to buy them. That is pretty sad I know, but that goes to show...recommending it was a bad move on my part...I have a feeling bitcoin will pop above $1000 again, and things will in the end will turn out profitable for him.

but sometimes you have to take some risks to make any profit if at all. bitcoin is a good investment nowadays that the price is low and it has place to still grow.
but you have to consider any scenarios just in case to protect your investment.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.
